Satellite A500-1 - stops when I play games

Hello!

I'm having some serious heat and fan with my Toshiba laptop problems. First data:
The laptop is on and a half a year old. His turning point under Windows 7 64-bit. I cleaned it about 2 days ago and many times before (dust in the fan cooling etc..). Toshiba drivers are up-to-date and I already use a cooling block.

When I play games sometimes, my laptop suddenly stops immediately, due to overheating problems. The strange thing is that, when this happens, the fan is not nearly at maximum speed. When I restart the computer after such a judgment, the fan fire suddenly at maximum speed, until the laptop even once cooled.

I started watching my CPU and GPU, and my fan speed temperatures while playing games, and I recognized, that the temperatures increase normally, but most of the time the fan remains at its current speed. Even if Toshiba PC Health Monitor shows, that the fan speed goes from 40% to 90% the fan is actually at a low speed.

From time to time it happens that the fan suddenly triggers her speed, but it lowers again after 1 or 2 minutes, while the indicated fan speed remains constantly at 90%. Somehow, I'd understand if the laptop would be closed despite the entirely fan running, but insufficient fan controlling? Come on Toshiba.

In addition this problem worsens every day. Anyone who has any suggestions to solve this problem?

Greetings
Thomas?

Hey Buddy,

Interesting story, but how do I clean the fan exactly? Did you use a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans?
Another reason could be the display driver itself. As you can see in other threads if you are using a Toshiba display driver they might cause of overheating because they don t have a protection against overheating and other thermal management. So it is important to use only Toshiba display drivers.

What version of BIOS you have installed right now?

AFAIK BIOS version latest contains another management fan so I'll try to update. You can download the latest version here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads

In general the fan will be controlled automatically and you can t he control you. Just make sure you use power plan to high performance for the games.

  • Satellite A500-17 x reboot while playing games

    Hello
I got this laptop for Christmas and have recently bought the games through steam, it is then when I got to play Call of Duty 4 as the laptop just randomly rebooted itself. At the beginning I thought he must of overheating, but then it was not hot at all and has only been activated. Then I thought it could have been the game conflicted with the computer, so I tried other games such as Counterstrike: Source, no luck it restarted again at random. Ive played for hours without him turning off then the other times to a few minutes. The laptop is allowed when im just surfing the internet etc., but restarts when you play games. I read other forums expressing the same problem, but have not yet found a solution. I updated the display on the site of Toshiba drivers, NVIDIA, but still does not.

    Please help :)

    Hello

I have no exact solution for it, but I have an idea.
All these problems occur just playing games to Win 7 preinstalled OS and this does not happen with all games... only ceratain games...

The games were released before the days of Win 7
It's just a guess, but it might be possible that there is a compatibility problem between Win 7 and a FEW games.
It would be very interesting to know if it would happen running and Win XP

  • Satellite A500-1DN - crashing everything by playing games

    Hi all

About 2 months ago, my friend bought a Toshiba satellite A500-1DN. After about 2 weeks, she decided to put 2 games on it (guildwars and jedi knight academy). We quickly realized that after about 1 hour of playing, the computer would crash to a black screen, rather than return to a blue screen of death. That meant there was no indication of what was causing the problem specifically and no dumps mini windows...
Having trouble with these specific games myself on Windows 7, I thought about the games.

A week later, she spent an hour watching videos to youtube to see his computer crashed in the same way as the game. So I put some on the computer diagnostic software. CPU / GPU overheating? But nothing, the temperatures are stable and supported and certainly wouldn t have been the cause of these accidents, unless I unfortunately missed the point where he did more heat cache-shoulders so I not outrule not he...
Because of the problem it seems to be up to now video related, I downloaded the new nvidia drivers (unfortunately the official ones didn't work and I had to search a custom .inf file). It does not solve the problem, but the driver seemed to work adequately well.

In our anger, we have sent it back stating that it would be cooling the laptop, that is to say of copper was not sufficient for the graphics card and Toshiba said they had cleaned up the computer until replaced thermal paste, typical stuff all... which seems very fair. We returned it. We played a game and it crashed within 10 minutes. Perhaps even worse than when he left.

Is there anything that could cause this problem - video related activities causing crash computer without going to the BSOD or return specific errors. What is RAM? I even uninstalled protection HDD thinking it could be the source of compatibility problems.

    I need advice.

    The spec is:
Intel core 2 DUO T6600 CPU 2.20 GHz processor
    NVIDIA Geforce GT 230M
    4 GB OF RAM

    Hello

This only happens if you play games or Surf Internet, office, etc.. ?

The games aren't supposed to, but if they are a bit older, they are not compatible with Windows 7 maybe. Did you check that?
Also look for a patch for the games. You can get it on the site of the factory.

In addition, it would be interesting to know what you get exactly the code bluescreen. For the most part the stop codes you can find more information on Microsoft Knowledge Base.

In most cases these bluescreens correspond to the drivers or hardware. If all Toshiba drivers are installed, check the RAM with Memtest86 diagnostic tool.

    Good luck! :)

(Sorry my engl. is not so good because German Ia´m)

    Hello

To me, this looks like an overheating problem.
It s a fact while playing the games the CPU and any other devices works with maximum performance. In this case all devices produce heat much and the temperature rises.
If the cooling modules not run successfully if it possible of s the device freezes or stopped without any warnings.
In my opinion, you should check the fans and try to clean it with a vacuum cleaner.

    EPPT

With the computer turned off and not plugged in you should carefully blow out the fan and radiator.  Laptops are not suitable for playing games in the first place.  If the cooling block does not help and the computer is more than a year, you may need to reapply the thermal CPU paste or frankly just not playing games with her.

  • Satellite Pro L500 - stops when the power cord removed

Toshiba Satellite Pro L500 stops when the power cord is removed even with the battery to 100%. I removed the battery and all the indications associated with battery answer correctly. For example turns off, Toshiba Health Monitor also indicates when the battery is removed. If installed Health monitor indicates that the battery is at 100%.

Someone please help. I have not installed anything new.

    Hey,.

For me, the matter is clear: the battery can't hold a charge so the laptop will be shut down because it has no power.

I think you need to replace the battery with a new one and you can get a provider of service authorized in your country. Simply contact the guy and ask that they can tell you how much it would cost.

You can find a list of all FSA here:

  • My guard computer shut down unexpectedly when I play games.

My guard computer shut down unexpectedly when I play games. Now it is not always the case, just sometimes. The other day I was playing Sims 3 all day, literally, with the graphics settings maxed out and had no problem. The next day, he would crash as soon as it finished loading, even with the graphics settings at the bottom. Today, it was working fine this morning and now it crashes again. I had the same problem on and off with other games as well, Halo 2, Kings Bounty, UT 3. Here is my system:

OS - Vista Ultimate 32 bit
    Processor: Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2 .66GHz
    RAM - 4 x 1 GB PC6400 DDR2/800
    MB - MSI P7N SLI - FI
    HARD drive - 150 GB x 2 (Raid 0) Raptor 10 k RPM
    PSU - 1000 watts
    GPU - NVidia GeForce 9800GT 1 GB (x 2 in SLI)

And the error I get from Event Viewer:

Filter event with the query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA 'Win32_Processor' AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace '//./root/CIMV2' because of error 0 x 80041003.» Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is resolved.

I got the error almost everyday since I got the computer, about 10 months ago, but it only blocks the computer if I play a game. I tried the 'fix' that removes the WMI event viewer 10 error, but everything done was make sure the error is not logged. I also tried another fix I found me delete the files in the repository, but that no longer works. I also run scans of complete system of virus/malware Spybot Search & Destroy and AVG 8 and verified the updated driver for my hardware. I also ran diagnostic tool memory. Who has good/clean/current. Can it be fixed or what I have to reinstall the OS?

    Hi JerHekSr,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

The first thing that comes to mind would be to check the motherboard manufacturer for an update of the firmware/BIOS.

The error message mentions "loadpercentage > 99' which looks like you are running may at maximum load of the CPU while the game and that is the cause of the crash. You could try a clean boot to prevent the using CPU resources while you play to see if it makes a difference of strtup programs.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click Start collapse this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

    c. under the general tab, click Selective startup , and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all .

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    b. click on the Services tab and then click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box.

    c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    d. click OK and then click restart .

Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services , and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    a. perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    b. click on the Startup tab and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    c. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 5: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click on start to reduce this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK .

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart .

    I hope this helps. Chris

  • my media player always stops when I play video or movies

My media player always stops when I play video or movies

While your it resources play a role in the way that online videos are displayed, the speed of your internet plays the biggest part. The reason is that your internet connection must first download the video before it can be displayed. This is referred to as "Buffering".

Then, the server of the host, which is the source of the video, also plays an important role in how the video is displayed as well. Some servers have a higher bandwidth which allows better/more fast streaming.

However, there are some things you can do to try to increase performance. First is to make sure that your computer is not infected by malicious software. For this, I recommend a quick scan with Malwarebytesupdate.

Next is to clean up the system of temporary files and other objects that can slow performance. Read the article HERE to see how to improve the overall performance of your computer.
