Satellite A500 - 13 c - Win 8 BIOS upgrade

Hello world

I have a few laptops Toshiba A500 - 13 c in my company.
Snice Microsoft began offering Windows 8 our software developer made some important updates, which works well on W8.

I want to update my computer and I've seen how this system works with the new notebooks including some non-BIOS (UEFI) systems.
I've read about it and Phoenix (developer of my BIOS) says that my laptop is easy to put up-to-date to be UEFI "ready". Are there opportunities that Toshiba will update this?

Where should I write?
Someone help me?

PS Sorry for my English.

Regads,
Pawel Mazur

Hello

First it's a forum user so nobody can answer a question like: + is it possible that Toshiba will update this? +

But as far as I know that Toshiba has released a tool to win 8 containing a matrix of all the old notebook series supports 8 Win:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/checkWindows8Compatible.do?service=EU

Your A500 is + NOT + a part of the list, so in my opinion there is not a driver Win 8 or BIOS support.

    Hello

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-TX.

My BIOS has been updated via the windows application, but the laptop has hung up and restarted (duh!). Now quite understandable, the laptop starts and doesn't show yet anything on the screen when powered on (I guess that the bios is damaged).

I found several ways to reflash the bios by using a floppy drive, but the problem is that the laptop is not equipped with a floppy drive.

Can anyone recommend sort reflash the bios with the floppy drive? Maybe by putting in the shape of the USB as a floppy drive and start? I tried to use the usb reflash via the method of phoenix

    .. .but does not.

    any help would be appreciated!

S is a shame and in my opinion, there is no real alternative for you about contact Toshiba service agent.
If you're lucky, just the ROM module could be reflashed, but in the worst cases, the motherboard may be dead.

  • Satellite A500-19 q: Win 7 does not-UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME

    HY everybody,

I work for 2 months with my new race A500-19 q Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Last night the system was regularly interrupted with the command "shutdown" of windows.
Today, the machine does not load win 7 in all.

If I let the work load, the system reached the blue screen with "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME".
If I try to restore the system with the recovery dvd made some time ago by the Toshiba utility him begins to load information, but after some research on hard drive, he stops with black screen and the cursor arrow, but nothing else.

I downloaded and burt disk repair Windows 7 64 bit, but as already sad, starting the system of loading but it does not get to the end.
So it seems impossible to carry out the command "chkdsk /f.

    What should I do finally?
    Thank you

    Hello

The cursor blinking in the upper left corner means that something might be wrong with the HARD drive or partition on the HARD drive.
I had this problem a few years ago on my laptop and in my case that the HARD drive is dead, it was a head crash.

In any case, I think you should check if the HARD drive can be formatted using another disc
You can try a Linux live CD or something like that

  • Satellite Pro A100 crashed during Windows BIOS upgrade, now does not start.

Satellite Pro A100 crashed during the upgrade of the bios from windows (upgrade the bios using windows), now the laptop will not boot. I press the on switch and it gives me just a blank screen, so I think that resets itself. I really need help solving this because I have a University paper due in the next few days and I need my laptop!
    Close for any help.

    It's a scream! :_| : O

This looks like a damage ROM module!
How did you do the BIOS update? I have red in this forum that a wrong procedure or wrong BIOS can damage the motherboard.

I think that it s a deal. I put t know if it s needed to change the entire motherboard or update the BIOS again but I n t think you will be able to do it yourself.

I think the best way is to ask the Toshiba service partner in your country.
I think they'll give you more details on the handling of the Fryer

  • Re: Satellite A500-1GL - Can t Access BIOS aftre updated

    Hello
    I have a laptop A500-1GL.
Yesterday, I checked that the drivers download page, just to check if there is something new. and I noticed that there was a new version of the BIOS.

    My old BIOS:
    SystemBiosVersion: 1.6
    SystemBiosDate: 05/06/10

    the Web site was:
    Version: 1.7
    Date: 29/07/10

So, I downloaded this file and flashed the BIOS... after the reboot, I checked the "regedit". and the version was changed to 1.7, but the date remains the same (05/06/10)!

Now, this isn't a big problem - I know, but I wanted to check the BIOS configuration (before the start).
So I restarted the laptop, you press "DEL"... nothing happened, went straight to Windows!
    I tried again, with F1, F2 ~ F12... anyway.
So, how can I access the BIOS Setup screen? I tried re-flashing the BIOS again, but he keep saying that I already have the new version, so I can't flash.

    any ideas?

    SORRY FOR MY POOR EANGLISH

    Hello

It s a shame hear that mate!
It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS, and so the laptop won't turn on.
I'm afraid that you can't do anything else as to contact the local ASP m!

The local ASP technician must check the device and possibly it might update the BIOS using a special BIOS and the special procedure.

    Good luck buddy

  • Satellite A500 - what are the changes in the BIOS 1.90

    Hello

I own a Satellite A500 PSAR3A-026002. He has BIOS version 1.50, the Toshiba site, it shows the latest version as 1.90. I would like to know what was changed from 1.50 to 1.90 but do not find the information anywhere. I was wondering if someone could tell me the changes or direct me to a site that has them.

Not planning on upgrading BIOS at this point that everything works fine, just curious what they updated, corrected or added.

    Hello

This information is not published on the European driver Toshiba page.
But you can visit the Toshiba page we.
I found some of the series Satellite A500 and details about the BIOS versions.
But right now the BIOS 1.9 is not available on the US Just the v1.8 page.

However, if your laptop works properly I wouldn't change anything.

  • Satellite A500 - missing programs after the upgrade to Windows 7

    Hello

    I have the Satellite A500 - 134.
When I was upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, I had to remove some programs as Advisor on upgrade mentioned.
Now I'm bored of these programs after installing Windows 7:
    # Toshiba Tempro
    # Toshiba ConfigFree
    # Toshiba Disc Creator

In addition, the 'FN' key no longer (it worked on Vista), so I can't activate a feature when I press FN + (some F # buttons as F2).

So, what can I do about it?

    Hello

Have you used the kit to upgrade from Windows 7 home Toshiba? This kit also contains a utility that should be used to reason the installation process and mentioned in manual.

Anyway, you can get tools on the Toshiba page now:

    Thnks

    Hello

I do not recommend to do a bios upgrade if your system works well. If the upgrade process go wrong your mobile doesn t boot more, and then you will need to contact
    TASP (Toshiba authorized service provider).
Be sure to close all programs, disable antivirus, firewall.

  • Satellite A500-19W: How can I activate button light button mute?

Anyone know how I can activate the switch Illumination in a mute button?
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19W, with win 7 installed.

I have 8 keys as usual (eco, CD/DVD, play, previous, next, illumination and sound - and +)
The light switch controls all the LEDs on the laptop and I find it useless. Is there a way I can turn into button mute?

I found a way to control through toshiba Deputy-> optimize-> support button, but I do not know what data to enter.
When I choose the illumination button under the name of power button, I have to fill the description, option and target path field for the mute button. Any idea which must be entered in these areas?

    Thanks in advance

To be honest, I think that it is a very useful option, because in a certain situation you can toggle light very quickly and do not start multiple tools to achieve this.
Please note that you can use the mute box very quickly by using the FN + ESC key combination.

In any case, I ve experienced follow:
After the installation of own added value package I pressed the button to light for the first time and I had small window with the Toshiba button assignment tool message you pressed the button has not been configured.
I ve set my preferred option and got the following with window
+ Are you sure that you want to set the button for this function? Once you set the button, you can not change this default unless you reinstall Button Toshiba Support. +

So I think you know what you need to do now and try to change it.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

  • Satellite A500: Multimedia keys do not work after Win 8 upgrade

    Hi everyone, I run Toshiba SATELLITE A500 - 1C0 (PSAR3E-01300WPL) with Windows 8 PRO x 64.

As I noticed - post factum /:-'Models supported' not supported for Windows 8 drivers of my PC.

Although, the computer will work perfectly, but I have a little problem with my drivers: the Panel at the top of the keyboard (http://goo.gl/IQVAG) works not only put on mute, volume up/down work, but the ECO button and media buttons are NOT - is there any method to upgrade the drivers so that I can use all the keys?

I installed TOSHIBA eco utility and it works fine, but the buttons do not respond. I can't find and update the driver/ulitity that is responsible for this issue.

I also want to ask if there is any chance to get the TOSHIBA for Win.8 drivers for my Satellite A PC series in the future. Y at - it a utility to analyze and automatically update TOSHIBA drivers? (but not Toshiba drivers Update Utility, which does not work in my case - it offers me to downgrade my drivers!)

I opened the Device Manager and tried to update the drivers manually, but - that's even BIGGER problem then eco Panel etc. - some devices are marked as "unknown devices" and may not be recognized at all.

    Thank you for your help,
    oddajlatarke

    > is there a method to upgrade the drivers so that I can use all the keys?

Method? Name is no other method as to try some tools to win 8 released for other series of laptop. The multimedia button requires installation of VAP (value package).
Check and test the VAP to win 8 released to win 8 supported notebook series.

    > I also want to ask if there is any chance to get the TOSHIBA for Win.8 drivers for my Satellite A PC series in the future.
As you said above; computer laptop isn t Win 8 supported model, so I doubt that you will get all the drivers Win 8 in the future.

  • Satellite A500 - update BIOS with dead battery

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500 (PSAR3E) laptop and I need to update the BIOS to the latest version.
Unfortunately, my battery died completely, and I have no chance to get a working one.

I was trying to update the bios all day, but no matter how I try (even created a boot back drive and took command line phlash16, /forceit and so on) it keeps telling me that he needs at least 10% charged battery present.

How can this problem be solved?

    > If I remove the battery, engine update fails, say there is no battery present, if I fix the battery, then update will fail saying the battery must be at least 10% - but he died, this percentage is 0.
And you write about original Win version that you have downloaded from the Toshiba BIOS download page and started in Windows?

To be honest is unclear to me that there is a trick to avoid this situation.
Maybe something stupid, but now, do you really need to install the update to the BIOS?
Is there a problem with your machine?
