  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-TX.

  My BIOS has been updated via the windows application, but the laptop has hung up and restarted (duh!). Now quite understandable, the laptop starts and doesn't show yet anything on the screen when powered on (I guess that the bios is damaged).

  I found several ways to reflash the bios by using a floppy drive, but the problem is that the laptop is not equipped with a floppy drive.

  Can anyone recommend sort reflash the bios with the floppy drive? Maybe by putting in the shape of the USB as a floppy drive and start? I tried to use the usb reflash via the method of phoenix

  S is a shame and in my opinion, there is no real alternative for you about contact Toshiba service agent.
  If you're lucky, just the ROM module could be reflashed, but in the worst cases, the motherboard may be dead.

  I have a PSAR3A - 02U002 Satellite A500 with BIOS version 1.9 is installed.

  After reading several forums, I discovered that there may be a BIOS (v2.0) update available to resolve the current problem, these Satellites have with overheating cooling switch down.

  Excited, I have tried to install the new BIOS - this is what I get:

  "There is an error occurred, please check below the elements."

  First of all, my BIOS version is 190, no more than 200. Second, I find it very difficult to believe that the battery must be less than 10%. And third, I don't see what that remove the power supply cable will do.

  Please note that this update of the BIOS found on Toshiba's European website, but v2.0 claims to be a worldwide release. I then checked on the Australian site and there is no BIOS for my model. I don't know how to interpret this contradiction.

  So I think that BIOS update is not available at this time for you. European and Australian models have different model numbers, so I doubt that the update of the BIOS is always the same. The pieces of equipment may also be different.

  In your case, I would wait until the BIOS was released on the page Australian too.

  I put t know what Satellite A500 you exactly and where you looked but normally if you already have the version 1.60 of the BIOS, it s newer than 1.50 official page of Toshiba.

  In addition, the BIOS update is not necessary if everything works properly. :)

  I have a laptop A500-1GL.
  Yesterday, I checked that the drivers download page, just to check if there is something new. and I noticed that there was a new version of the BIOS.

  My old BIOS:
  SystemBiosVersion: 1.6
  SystemBiosDate: 05/06/10

  the Web site was:
  Version: 1.7
  Date: 29/07/10

  So, I downloaded this file and flashed the BIOS... after the reboot, I checked the "regedit". and the version was changed to 1.7, but the date remains the same (05/06/10)!

  Now, this isn't a big problem - I know, but I wanted to check the BIOS configuration (before the start).
  So I restarted the laptop, you press "DEL"... nothing happened, went straight to Windows!
  I tried again, with F1, F2 ~ F12... anyway.
  So, how can I access the BIOS Setup screen? I tried re-flashing the BIOS again, but he keep saying that I already have the new version, so I can't flash.

  But as far as I know that Toshiba has released a tool to win 8 containing a matrix of all the old notebook series supports 8 Win:

  Your A500 is + NOT + a part of the list, so in my opinion there is not a driver Win 8 or BIOS support.

  As far as I know, Toshiba offers a few changes of BIOS options and is not also a part of the BIOS updates.

  What kind of problems you have with dual boot?
  What is preinstalled on your computer? Post please some info on exact OS install.

  You have installed the correct version of the BIOS of your laptop?

  Features of FN buttons are normally not depending on the version of the BIOS. So, you need Toshiba value added Package and utility tools to Support Flash Cards. Then I recommend to reinstall two of them.

  You can download it here:

  Remove all older versions first. Reboot then install VAP and finally Flash Cards Support utility.

  It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS, and so the laptop won't turn on.
  I'm afraid that you can't do anything else as to contact the local ASP m!

  The local ASP technician must check the device and possibly it might update the BIOS using a special BIOS and the special procedure.

  I knew I shouldn't update BIOS unless I have problems. A message came Toshiba Bulletin Board and I was stupid enough to trust him and I have updated my BIOS. The update has been successful, my computer seems to work very well.

  Except, now when I try to watch a movie, I downloaded every 10 seconds or if it gets stuck for a second and then plays normally and it happens when I play music on itunes.   By the way: I noticed that the BIOS changelogs are often placed on the Toshiba page we. Maybe you can find it there.

  And this update should be carried out only if it of really necessary. If you n t have any problems, to forget about this update.
