  I sent my laptop repair HP. They replaced some cables and motherboard, but it does not solve the problem. They finally replaced the Windows 7 operating system. Basically they gave me a new system. I spent 3 days to update windows with all the updates and then re-loading of my programs. What a mess!

  I bought this A665-S5170. 15 days back and there the Windows7. The button next to the switch does not work no. shortcuts work. IAM now very unhappy.   I bought this laptop in February 2011 from best buy, I went on holiday in April, my father at the House-sit to the left and he used my computer. Said there are infestations of virus and its 'techno' friend installed linux mint OS on my computer and I want to not go.

  I want my Windows 7 return but I did not because recovery disks that I did not have too long and has not had the chance (don't wait no not my father to do something like that for her either). I know that there is a separate partition for the system restore in some satellite systems, can I access that without Windows on my computer? It is not double started, it's right linux and I can't STAND it. I also can't afford to pay for the new installation discs. Help, please!

  I can't use any of my programs, and I don't like the alternatives. I want to go back to Windows! Thanks for any help, it's GREATLY appreciated!

  EDITED TO add: since installing Linux, my keys do not light up or work, but I think that they can work with windows.

  Usually, if another operating system is installed, you are not able to start the recovery of HARD drive more but you can try holding down the Zero key as Akuma writes.

  If it doesn't work your only option to restore factory settings is Toshiba recovery disc. If you n t have it order a service allowed in your country. On Toshiba site is a list with all FSA.

  I read that you can not afford to pay for a new disk recovery, but on the other side, I have to tell you didn't had the time to read the manual and you have to pay for that mistake. If I buy a new computer, TV or other media device I still have time to read the user's manual first and everyone knows how important it is. ;)

  It is a function called "control for HDMI" energy saving. TV tells you your receiver it stops and that the control is on the receiver does the same. You must disable the TV or receiver.

  Check your screen saver if it is always the case.  Happened to me and I have triple checked all my settings and my screen has been set to never when it is plugged in also.  Then I realized, there was an update and for some strange reason, some updates change your custom parameters and shows how to activate the screen saver and mine was set to 'white', which is what was causing my screen seem to be turned off... It was the screen empty screensaver, turn off the screen saver and... Alto... fixed!

  On tapping "switch to...» "button immediately shows the start menu, so I select the DW icon. This Mulberry Bush happens several times until the DW workspace appears but is unusable until I cleared a few cases most of the dialog box. Often the session of DW dialog box appears again to clear manually.

  I have exactly the same problem and looking back through the forums it seems that this bug lasts for a long time with out being fixed by Adobe.

  I'm working on a clients Web site at the mo, so it costs me money. More money, I'm shelling out for DW itself.

• Satellite A665 no display - external screen does not work

  I help my brother in law with his laptop Satellite A665, who developed a very strange display issue.

  As his wife has poor vision, he uses an external VGA Westinghouse flat screen display with the LCD screen on the laptop.

  Now, however, when the external monitor is disconnected it also loses the LCD.
  I tried to go to the LCD by using only the display of control Fn/F5, but when LCD only is selected, it remains empty.

  Then, I went the Toshiba HW config utility and disabled monitor automatic selection at startup and selects the display LCD only at startup.

  Reboot in this way also translates into a blank display, until the external monitor is reconnected, date at which both displays are active.

  Bottom line, it of that I find no obvious for the laptop LCD display without also the connected external monitor and displays. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this embarrassing problem.

  Does this mean that internal displays only works if the external monitor is connected to the laptop?

  It's really strange. As you say, usually, you should be able to switch between the internal display and the external monitor by pressing FN + F5.

  It would be interesting to know if change BIOS defaults might restore the internal display. I guess that it will not solve your problem, but it s worth a try.

  I guess that it is hardware problem (motherboard), and it won't be easy to fix

  Hi Alex,

  It seems that if the FL inverter fails on your laptop. It is a small circuit board that proveds backlight works for your screen.

  Willneed refer to an authorized Service partner to get this replaced.
