  Hmm... looks a bit like a motherboard problem.
  I think that the adapter is OK because the power led is lit if you plug the laptop on the sector...
  I'm not thinkt that the issue could be related to battery failure because if the battery would be affected, then the laptop must always run connected to the power adapter (in mains mode).

  So, it seems that the problem may be caused by dysfunction of the motherboard...

  A question: is your BIOS up-to-date?

  But I found just the Win 7 64 bit drivers... But it s not the big problem to get drivers for Win 7 32 bit, you can use the Win 7 drivers out for the PSC1GE C660 series.
  Toshiba tools such as value added package, Support of Flash memory card utility should work also on your model.

  You should pay attention to a few other pilots like display driver. C660-2DZ supports the Intel® HD Intel® HD Graphics 3000 and Mobile Intel HM65 Express Chipset the two pilots (or just the HM65) can be downloaded from the Intel page.

  When I did the updates in the past, I would leave all Windows update download all and leave it to determine the order of installation.  But based on the number of updates, I suggest to get the criticals those first.
