  Bought this laptop for college work, I do a lot of work in 3D on the computer and only just realized the integrated graphics card is not powerful enough to cope. I was hoping to buy a new graphics card and slot in there, but I have been informed by Toshiba graphics card is soldered to the motherboard and so is not an option.

  I was wondering if someone else has managed to do this otherwise? I know there are ways to have a desktop graphics card attached remote etc, but just to see if anyone knew a way that would work on this model of laptop.

  We know that you can not use drivers provided by graphics card manufacturers. Not for laptops. Display drivers are changed by laptop manufacturers to provide the balance between performance and protection of the equipment.

  What you can try is to check if Toshiba offers a newer driver for new models of portable computers.

• Graphics Intel (HD) issues when you try to use "Stellarium" on Satellite C660

  Stellarium (a free application for astronomy) works without any problem on multiple computers to my astronomy club, but impossible to use on my Toshiba Satellite C660-226. No problem installing but nothing adds when I run the program.

  I run it in compatibility mode (windows XP Sp2) and Intel HD graphics driver is at the 8.15.10.2189 level, as recommended by the Toshiba support center.

  If I install a lower level of this driver (standard VGA graphics card to 6.1.7600.16385 level), Stellarium is working but very slowly and some functions (like zoom) are in listening.
  Stellarium support Center recommends to install a more recent level of the graphics driver intel HD, but I can't find a level more recent collaboration with P6100 processor on the Intel download site.
  Can you help me?

  Display driver update on mobile machinery is quite problematic. Because of the specific and limited design cooling system, the temperature must be all the time under control.
  New display driver means more performance and more performance means more heat, so in the worst case GPU may be damaged or your laptop often stops because of the critical temperature of material.

  In any case, I would check if the most recent driver is available on the Toshiba support page but you must put the name of the full model of your laptop (C660-xxx).

  Programs open when I click on for example Paint shop pro x 3 but when I go to save a picture or change it crashes and 'unresponsive' and I have to use the Task Manager to end the process. I need the same drivers I had on my laptop before the HARD drive has been replaced but can t bring Intel as Toshiba seems to have given up on updates.

  The problem is that only the Toshiba drivers are pre-tested on your system. Install the other drivers happens on your own risk, because they are not tested by Toshiba.

  In any case, simply download the drivers on the Intel Web site. If the setup.exe file display you an error about incompatible drivers install them manually (I know that this message from my laptop). So go to Device Manager > right click on the graphic card > driver update. Then, choose the Advanced installation where you can choose the directory and the driver yourself. You are now able to install this driver :)

  To be honest, your post is a little confusing.
