Satellite E300 - troubled 'disabling' TAP to CLICK

I am novice PC user and I just new E300 satellite high tower.
I'm unable to 'disabling' TAP to CLICK function permanently - the user manual instructions don't seem to work properly.
I am operating windows 7.

I spoke with the technology, but they attend the fresh wtihout and they refer user manual only back.
I also downloaded updated bios on their recommendation without success/change.

Under MOUSE settings I select: properties for synaptics click pad - and then in detailed settings.
I have a tab of TAPPING that I select, and then a pop-up box and screen with "ENABLE TAPPING" next to the white box. the text and explanation indicates tick or mark this box will allow eavesdropping. To leave empty so should delete function "tapping."

It does not work. When I look at the icons hidden on the Ribbon at the bottom of the computer - each time after I closed it restored the service TAP to CLICK.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem. I apologize in advance for my lack of computer savvy, but I also note that the user manuals do not seem to solve this problem and it is not aid of telephone technical support. ?

If someone could help, I would be very grateful. Thank you coral.

Hello

E300 satellite does not for me, but there seems to be a series of Asia for Toshiba laptop.
I found the download driver page:
http://PC.Toshiba-Asia.com/SG/support/drivers

Here, I would recommend downloading the Synaptics Touch Pad Driver - 15.2.4.4
Uninstall previous installed touchpad driver in Control Panel-> software
Restart the laptop and install the Synaptics Touch Pad driver.

Now restart and check the water from the tap to click on option once more

Oddly it's under settings of the mouse and keypad touch-> 'Touchpad Delay' - simply on "Turn Off Taps" and it completely useless and annoying 'feature' bother you no more! Honestly - manufacturers test never actually such things? • How to disable tap to click the trackpad for Windows 8

I would like to disable tap-to-click on the touchpad NIJ windows 8 on my Asus laptop. I've looked everywhere and could not find an option to turn it off. I just want to be able to use the keys click.

I found the answer of the Asus technical support. Windows operating system no longer controlling the operation of the touch pad. For my Asus Ultrabook. There is a pilot in your task wrong called "Asus Smart gesture" opened and you can turn off the tap to click. Obviously different brands use different driver. so get yours.

I had the same problem and it took a lot of research, but I finally fixed it, and wanted to document for anyone who runs into this problem. The two methods suggested by the technical support engineer has not worked for me.

.. .and by installing the first result. You want the "ElanTech Touchpad driver". Download all of the things on your desktop, unzip the file and begin the installation. When the installation is complete, you will be asked to reboot. After restart navigate computer > C: > Program Files > Elantech > then double-click on "ASUS_UI" (application) in this folder.
The first page first when you open the application is labeled General gestures and has "click" as the first section. Uncheck the box "select". There is also an option of two fingers called "show the context menu" you can turn off, but it is much more difficult to trigger by accident.
You may want to also check the box in the 4th tab, which turns off the trackpad when you have an external mouse connected.
    Good luck to all.
  • How can I disable tap-to-click on the Satellite C660/C660D?

There is no option to disable it on this laptop, I looked for the answer online but nothing, there seems to be no way to do it on this laptop model. I tried to download the new driver for touchpad of the site but had absolutely no effect and gave me more options to turn it off, it has changed nothing. Now completely stuck and its driving me crazy!

The mouse click also on its own randomly even if Im not to touch, always seems to hurt when im game.

I still want to use the touch pad to move the pointer autour, just don't want to use it to click.

As far as I know the Satellite C660 supports Synaptics touchpad.
The Synaptics touchpad driver should support the tap to click option.

In order to ensure that Synaptics driver has been installed.
Then go to control panel-> mouse-> last tab (button settings)
Now, you need to access the properties of Synaptics and here you should find the option called tapping

  • Looking for disable tap-to-click - RESOLVED

    Hello the Alienware/Dell team!

I have the new Alienware 13 & I can't seem to turn off the tap to Click functionality. I'm used to that there is an option in the control panel to do. So I tried uninstalling & reinstalling my drivers touchpad, including completely remove from Device Manager & resettlement. I also tried to install the Synaptics driver directly from Synaptics site to see if their small applet to let me turn it off from there like in Windows 7. However, I can't seem to get anywhere with this.

I even went up to fetch the Synaptics registry keys to see if I could do there, but alas - I have no record of Synaptics registry either, nor anything in Program Files for Synaptics.

I've had my Alienware 13 for a few days now & it's my only frustration. If someone could help I would really appreciate it!

    ~ Jim

I want to just mark it as resolved here. I did the following to get the "Turn off the Tap" functionality in Windows:

    1. Go to "change PC settings."
    2. Choose the option "Update and recovery"
    3. "Recovery".
    4. "Advanced boot" then "restart now."
    5. Since the start, options, I chose "troubleshooting."
    6. Choose 'Advanced Options '.
    7. "Startup parameters" and then "restart".
    8. The restart options screen, I chose option 7 - "disable driver signature enforcement".
    9. I then installed the Synaptics driver on the site of Synaptics & restarted
    10. Now I can go into my settings and disable tapping! Hooray!

More difficult there, but I think this is done I'll be 100% satisfied with this Alienware in the future!

  • Disable Synaptics Touchpad tap to click through registry?

I have a laptop HP-G60-553NR 3 year and enjoyed with a Synaptics Touchpad (OS is Windows 7 64-bit).  I use the latest & greatest, driver recommended by HP:

    2009-08-28, version: 13.2.2.0 has

This driver no longer works well at all (erratic click functions, unstable, moves through the screen on its own, etc.), but there were no other updates from HP and uninstalls / reinstalls multiple set.  After a ton of frustration, my only solution is to download & install the latest Synaptics driver:

    2013-02-25, version: 16.3.15.1 (Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 32/64-bit Edition)

In principle, it worked well and the stability is back, but with a problem; I lost any opportunity to change the Touchpad settings - and with this driver, Tap-to-Click is ENABLED by default and I want to turn it OFF.  I lost the "Device settings" tab in the control panel there are long (not), but there was also a mini-outil of support which could be installed/activated in the system tray where I could switch tap to click power.  This option is no longer possible because if I install it, it reverts back to 13.2.2.0 driver.

My dilemma: 1) I can't go back to the old driver because it's a disaster.  (2) I need to stay with the new driver, but I hope to find a way to disable tap-to-click.

I see only three solutions: 1) maybe the gurus of HP or some of you who monitor these forums are aware of a more recent version, stable driver that works with my particular model or 2) someone can instruct me the keys in the registry, turn the tap to click on/off so I can turn it off myself (, or 3) use external mouse all the time (which is hard to do when the mobile).

Synaptics doesn't give any support and simply tells the user to 'contact your manufacturer', so here I am.  Any guidance would be appreciated.  In addition to this problem, my laptop is rock solid.

    Thank you!

    SOLVED!

I continued to try to solve this problem after the validation and finally found at the level of the program folder Files\Synaptics\SynTP.  I noticed there are several requests here, so I started to run them one by one.

SynTPEnh.exe is the latest version of the mini tool, "Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements" that I had used.  It offers the possibility to load only once, or allow to load at startup in the system tray.  Left click + functions simply open the Control Panel, but right click + displays the appropriate menu where I can uncheck the tap to click.

I hope this information is useful to others, because there are like mine all the ' web on several different platforms.

  • Turn off the tap to click on Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista

Can someone tell me how to disable "tap to click" on the touchpad of my laptop?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, running Windows Vista.  It's the standard touchpad I mind, it has not been upgraded.

Other forums have suggested to go to the control panel > hardware and sound > mouse, but once I'm there, I only "buttons," "Pointers," "Pointer Options" and "hardware".  There is no option to disable "Tap to click" referred to one of them.

I've updated all the drivers - Windows tells me I have the latest version, if this doesn't fix the problem.

My hands are too big to type without hitting the touchpad!  So frustrating.  I accidentally moved my slider three times during the composition of this post.  Someone help me please!  That's four times now.

    I thought about it!

Under computer > C: > drivers > entry > R176423, I ran DPInst.  He installed the Dell Touchpad option in my taskbar to bottom left.  After the reboot, I was able to open a more in-depth version of my touchpad, where I could uncheck "Tap to click".  _ Yes!

Thanks for all your help, man.  I really appreciate it.  It's really a positive manifestation of the human condition when the volunteers their expertise selflessly to help others.  Keep up the good work, and I hope that this thread will stay up to help someone else in the future.

  • How to turn off the tap to click the trackpad for Windows 8?

I had windows 8 for some time and disabling tap-to-click is a priority for me, but I can't understand how do. This is not the same as windows 7 or vista. When I type, sometimes my hand hits the button on my laptop keyboard and it moves where I type and live. Need help please, I want to disable the stupid tap to click on feature because I use a USB mouse.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My laptop has just downloaded 8.1 without my permission and I got the touchpad by clicking. It drove me crazy. I've been everywhere where I didn't want to be. Right-click on the icon for the touchpad worked perfectly after nearly an hour doing it through the control panel!

  • Alienware 13 - no option of configuration of the key touch - cannot turn off the tap to click.

Just got my Alienware 13. Like all cell phones, it comes with tap to click enabled on the touchpad, I hate. There is no Synaptics control panel where I can change my settings, and the Alienware 13 does not appear to be the "Alien Touch" application, so I don't have a way to disable the behavior of tap to click.

When I look in Device Manager, I see two entries "HID-compliant mouse" and a "PS/2 compatible mouse", and all three use Microsoft drivers; not the driver of the Synaptic touchpad.

How can I get the ability to change the settings of my touchpad?

Thanks for the reply. My computer doesn't have icons or panels of control for the touchpad anywhere in Windows 8 desktop environment - even after installing synaptic drivers from Dell Alienware 13 downloads page.

I have concluded that my laptop doesn't have the same microcontroller touchpad that seem more other 13 s Alienware. Maybe it's a recent change on motherboards? I even don't think that it is a part of Synaptics at this stage.

In any case, I finally able to disable tap-to-click using an OS device that is only available in the environment of Windows 8 'Modern/Metro". I have documented my solution here.

  • How to disable the TouchPad 'tap to click' on Satellite A200 - 15L Vista

Until mid-December, I got the Synaptics Touchpad ' tap to click on "disabled. Then it became somehow activated, the context menu item to change to gray and the properties of the mouse, etc. settings contain no reference to it. It was suggested that updates nui Windows somehow. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for touchpad both directly from Synaptics and on the Toshiba site, but it did not help. Aside from using the disk recovery and reformatting what can I do?
Toshiba Satellite A200 15 laptop (PSAE2E). Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.

    Hi Juliana

I also read on the Vista updates that affect the parameters of the touchpad for me it sound very mysterious
I thought about the same procedure of reinstalling touchpad driver.
But it seems this helps doesn t to get the click back features.
I think the recovery CD would be the last resort.

  • Satellite A205-S5831: TouchPad tapping cannot be disabled - SOLUTION

There are several other online on the same forums, and I felt Toshiba was the best place to post the solution to the problem.

Description of the problem: cannot turn off the tap of the mouse to click the feature of Vista. Synaptics driver has the opportunity to turn the feature on, and outside, but it is grayed out.

Other forums suggested to uninstall and then reinstall the Synaptics driver. Get the latest Toshiba, or get the latest driver from Synaptics driver but none of this has worked for me. However, it claimed the driver Synaptics of Synaptics.com worked for him or her.

Here is my solution on 2 forums on geekstogo.com (what kind of name is that anyway?):

I had exactly the same problem and I feel obligated to post the solution I found that it would have saved me hours and maybe he will save the next person hours. I hope that everyone uses the same courtesy so forums like these are useful.

I have a solution, but first let me vent. This problem has been quite the problem more frustrating and stupid. Why anyone who knows hit want type to click? It's such a frustrating feature. In addition, why would anyone software development does not give the user the ability to disable? Synaptics touchpad old drivers for XP are 100 times better. I don't understand the lack of functionality in the new.

I checked on Toshiba.com for touchpad drivers for my satellite A205-S5831 and noticed that there is a driver Alps. I have downloaded this driver, uninstalled the driver Synaptics (uninstalled option programs and Featuers in the control panel) and installed the driver Alps. The Alps driver includes many options over the Synaptics driver does not work, including turning off the tap to click.

I hope that this solution works for others.

Info thank you for sharing this with us.

I've also noticed that Toshiba touchpad requires two different drivers. There is Synaptics driver and the other is driver Alps.

You need two drivers to get the full touchpad control.

    See you soon

  • HP spectrum x 360 13-4195dx: how to disable permanently "Tap to click" on Synaptics Touchpad?

Just bought the HP spectrum x 360 13-4195dx (13 "laptop convertible) and have updated the BIOS and windows 10. I always disable the function ' tap to click on "laptop, but every time I restart the laptop, tap to click reactive himself. I tried to create a profile in settings of synaptics but that doesn't work either. Has anyone found how to disable this feature on a permanent basis?

    Thanks for your help.

    I found it!

For any one looking for a solution to disable way permanent synaptics tap to click...

go to the windows registry (regedit search)

    expand "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE."

    Expand "SOFTWARE".

    Expand "SYNAPTICS".

    Expand "SynTP.

    Click on "install".

Under 'Install', double click 'DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade' and change the value of "1" to "0".

This will make it so that when you restart your CV, your tap to click remains disabled.

Becareful with the windows registry, if you don't know what you're doing and you start to change the values on the things shouldn't you it can harm your system.
