Satellite L305 - keyboard repeat delay

Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5884 and I noticed that there is a problem with the keyboard repeat rate. I found some information about this problem with other models, as you can see:

http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_dtlView.jsp?soID=2121638&BV_SessionID=@@@10 23219697.1220544188@@@&BV_EngineID=ccceadefdidkee jcgfkceghdgngdgmm.0

They've already given a solution: I need a BIOS update, but I couldn't find the BIOS for my model. In fact, I have version default (1.40).

Can I have some help?

Thank you!

Hello

You should check the Toshiba page again. It seems that already new BIOS (1.50) was published:

The installation is worth a try! ;)

    Hello

I have a M40x for two years, he make a keyboard buffer overrun, there is continue a beep and if I use windows Notepad, I see a LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, but I'm not press the L key!

I unplugged the keyboard and it's the same thing! How can I solve the problem?

Where I could find the datasheet of the keyboard controller? I want to fix the motherboard, I love this laptop!

A technician of the Toshiba repair center could tell me how to do?

    Thank you.

    > I unplugged the keyboard and it's the same thing! How can I solve the problem?
    > Where I could find the datasheet of the keyboard controller? I want to fix the motherboard, I love this laptop!

Unfortunately, these service manuals are not for public use and to my knowledge only the Toshiba certified maintainer could have access to these documents and manuals.
So just say that you will not be able to find such instructions on the page to Toshiba.

But my first thought was a faulty keyboard. If replacement of the keyboard will not help the jury of the entire system should be replaced because the keyboard controller is a part of the mobo!

Sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to fix the motherboard.
If the Board is too bad then it must be replaced

  • Satellite L670 - keyboard is slow

Hi everyone, I had a Satellite L670 and I have a problem with my keyboard, it's so slow!

PS: searched for a french article but it is not, sorry if my son is not in the correct section

    Hi Nina,

How do I understand that the keyboard is slow?

As written Anj you can change keyboard settings in the control panel > keyboard. You have two options for repeat delay and repeat rate.

By the way: you use pre-installed Windows 7 home Toshiba?

  • FN key doesn't work is not Windows XP - Satellite L305-S5885

Hello, I recently downgraded my Toshiba Satellite L305 S5885 from Vista to Windows XP. Everything works well except the function (Fn) keys to control the screen brightness, volume. Some function as mute but most do nothing when I try to use them. All the installed drivers although Device Manager shows errors or lack nothing.

I tried to install all the drivers for the keyboard, the Fn keys, keyboard shortcuts, and still I can't work at all. Someone was able to get these keys to run after the installation of WinXP or you know what drivers/software I'm missing? These keys can be used in XP or they work only in Vista?

    Thank you.

This feature has nothing to do with the operating system or Device Manager. FN keys feature Toshiba use for years and in my opinion, it will be used in the future also.

As I see you probably have US laptop model. I put t know how he works in the United States, but here in Europe Toshiba offered special WXP BIOS update. After installing this BIOS the FN keys work correctly.

In order to check it please US Toshiba support site under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp to see what is available for Windows XP Home edition. I also recommend you check the section ask Iris. Maybe you can find useful newsletters.

One last thing: under http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ws-laptop&redirCnt=1 you will find the forum we Toshiba. There, I hope that you will find answer to your question.

Good luck and please let us know if you set up Windows XP Home edition successfully.

  • Satellite L305-S5919 - keys just stop working

    I have a Satellite L305 - S5919 & first my ESC, Q, 4 keys stopped working.
I've only had it for 4 months what has happened. Does anyone know why these keys would simply stop working all of a sudden & I could do about it?

I called Toshiba support & they want back me, but I do not do without my computer so would like to fix it on my own. My keys do not hold or seems broken or anything. They are similar to those of others. OK yesterday my little boys spilled my Mtn dew on my keyboard, where is my space bar. My space bar is stiff so ive been told I can jump off keys & clean under it but looked that up & read you can possibably break if you put a lot of pressure. I can't afford to break it because I don't have any other insurance when I bought in July so I did the 1 year warranty for whats wrong cannot be the way I took it my fault or I have to pay to hget fixed it. Can I jump the SPACEBAR off? & If so, what are the chances of breaking? If I can pop off is their a certain direction, I need to pull up?

Thanks for reading and any help you can give!

    Hello!

I can t tell you why this happens with your keys, but don t forget that the keyboard is a mechanical part of the laptop such things can happen at any time. I guess you're not the first person who had such a problem. ;)

In addition, you can t return only unique keys. If certain keys n t work more, need to replace the entire keyboard. Of course you can do it yourself if you want to go to an ASP but if replace you that you pay for a new keyboard.
I think that the repair shouldn't t take a lot of time. Normally, the keyboard is replaced in a few minutes. Just talk to the technicians.

  • I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L305-S5894 with Windows Vista Home Premium installed (32 bit). Unable to get a backup to a flash drive. Error: 0 x 81000029

Original title: I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L305-S5894 with Windows Vista Home Premium installed (32 bit).  Unable to get a backup to a flash drive.

After back back, very many updates of windows, my computer is full of problems and it is not representative of the restore points far enough back to correct.  I want really to save my data and programs for flash drive (s) and then go for a full recovery of the system (return to factory).  When you try to do the backup on a 4 GB USB key I get an error including 0 x 81000029.  I have seen posted answers to this.  Everything is included to aid Vista disk from the window which was not included when I bought my computer. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

The following article should be useful. To use system recovery options, you have Vista installation disc. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repeatedly will install on the computer Windows recovery environment. To cross check if it is installed, try the following steps.

1 start the computer and press the F8 key continuously to get advanced boot menu options.
    2. on the menu advanced startup options, check if the Startup Repair tool is in the list.
    3. If so, select it and press ENTER.
    4. If not, then you should organize a Vista installation disc.

You may receive error messages when you try to perform a backup operation on a Windows Vista-based computer

  • Satellite L305-S5919 - slow modem speed

Hello people. Right now I have this modem driver - * Toshiba Software Modem for Windows Vista (Agere). * But I'm not all that nice to her performance, so I thought to try another.

I'm looking at that - is * Motorola Modem Driver for Windows Vista (32/64-bit) *. The information about this said, it is compatible with my model, but I didn't know if it would work as the one I have is Agere (Agere, it's what it came with nine).

I have a Satellite L305-S5919, Vista 32 bit and Toshiba Software Modem Agere Driver 2.1.77.

    Thank you!

    Hey,.

I think that the problem is not the driver, it s technology modem itself. You know that the speed of the modem is 56,000 Kbps?

The point is that most of the websites are already designed for broadband connections, because they have a lot of high-resolution graphics and other multimedia stuff.

In your case, I would choose another Internet connection ;)

  • Satellite L305-S5939 - Dual boot with Linux

I recently bought the notebook title mentioned for my studies in computer programming that will require me to dual boot with Linux.
I decided to use Ubuntu and their instructions for upward the dual boot parameters are simple.

However, I heard from people having problems with the settings of the BIOS on other brands when said is finished.
Before I embark on this journey, I want to just make sure that everything is set to avoid problems.

Unfortunately, I have not found much information about Dual boot with Linux and Toshiba L305s.
Other than the basic principles of what I need to do before installing?

I think that a dual boot on the Satellite L305 should not be a problem because you can do it on every laptop or PC.

If you want Ubuntu you should take a look on Wubi
    http://wubi-Installer.org/
It of pretty easy to use and in my opinion the best way to install Ubuntu on a system dual boot.

  • Satellite L305-S5968: cannot select a resolution higher than 1280 x 800 px

    Last June, I bought a Satellite L305-S5968.

A month ago my hard drive crashed and luckily I was able to recover some data.
I sent again to make the drive replaced and reinstalled Vista.
When I came back I did all the usual driver updates and when I did everything I could get resolution 1280-800 but I had 1280-1024 prior to the crash.

I tried to go to Intel but their driver for my Chipset Mobile Intel 4 family was apparently not intended for this laptop and would not even install. After having talked to Toshiba about this, they said I had to do the recovery CD rather than the extended warranty which installed Vista has not installed the appropriate driver. I paid my males 25 for the pair of CD and proceeded to reinstall. After all this all over again once I've ALWAYS done could not get the resolution I wanted and always feel the same issues with not being able to install the drivers on the Intel site.

Is there someone who can help me out here please? If I did not provide enough detail please let me know.

    Thank you! :)

    Hello

Have you tried the driver from the Toshiba page we?
This seems to be a laptop out on the U.S. market and that's why I recommend the driver from US page:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

In addition, you might install a driver from Intel page, but you will have to do it in the Device Manager.
Here, you point to the driver manually files using the Advanced installation procedure.
This would allow to choose Intel page files.

PS: If your display supports the native resolution of 1280x800px max then you will not be able to choose a higher resolution, even if you have used another graphic driver

    Thank you

Before you exchange the cooling fan you have to disassemble everything laptop. How this is described in the manual, but the problem is that this document is not a public document, so you won't be able to find it for download.

I guess that's portable US model, so you can ask for help on the Toshiba U.S. forum.

  • Problem of storage space satellite L305-S5962 HARD drive when installing XP

    Hello

Last week, I ordered two TOSHIBA Satellite L305-S5962 for my children and finally happened yesterday.
I was so glad that I found all drivers XP needed for it on Toshiba USA website, however something weird happened when I went to install XP over there.

It came with preloaded Vista and while under Vista, I checked the HARD drive space it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read C 131 GB only partition.
So, if you round up to about 130 GB, where the other 90 GB's?

This problem has happened to these two Toshibas, and read the two HDD substantially the same.
In Vista, it reads close to 250 GB, but when installing XP blue screen (once I turn off the AHCI setting in BIOS) it reads at 131 GB. Is this some kind of driver issue? or to issue OS with AHCI?

On the Toshiba site there are two HARD drive drivers, are a .exe and the other a .zip file.
I tried both in the XP installation CD of nLite, but it does not help.
It still reads GB 131, so now I have no idea what to do, or maybe I have something wrong during the splicing of nLite?

In any case, if anyone has some insight on this problem, please let me know.

    Thank you!

    -G.P.

P.S. Here is the link to site from USA, for XP SP2/SP3 drivers, HARD disk drivers.

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=DL&OS=&category=&MOID=2350214& rpn = PSLB8U & modelFilter = TOSHIBA + Satellite + L305-S5962 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663

Even once, if someone has seen, thank YOU!

    > I checked disk space HARD it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read the partition C 131 GB only.

The HARD disk is partitioned into 3 partitions.
The first partition contains OS preinstalled; Vista
The second partition contains the image of Toshiba HDD and the last third partition is hidden. It s a small partition created by Vista and it contains the backup files. These files can be used if something goes wrong with Vista OS or if Vista needs to be repaired.

So I guess you've seen only the first partition that contains the operating system Vista

    Hi John,.

You have already reinstalled Windows with Toshiba Recovery disk (factory settings)?

If Yes, it could be a hardware problem, otherwise, it looks like a software problem or driver.

  • Satellite L305-S5944 - how Zoom Toshiba Utility work?

I have the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5944.

I had a question about the usefulness of zoom of the Toshiba.
Using the function + space bar, which is supposed to zoom, but it reduces the resolution.

What is the idea of this utility?
Is that what is supposed to do?

I mean lower resolution does not exactly make things bigger, but makes things more UN-net plus.

    Hello!

Have you checked the user manual? You should do this.

On my Satellite L300 it s the same. If I press FN + space on my Satellite L300 will change the display to a lower resolution. All things are larger now.

If you want larger or icons and so you have to define this in the Windows display properties.

  • Satellite L305-S5919 - Question about CD/DVD drive acoustic silencer

Anyone know if it is possible to make the default CD/DVD Drive Acoustic silencer silent mode whenever I put a disc in the drive?

Now, the icon appears in the taskbar and it takes only a few clicks, but it would be nice if I could just leave all the time. My version of the acoustic silencer is 32-bit, Windows Vista and Satellite L305-S5919 2.02.03.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

    Hi pdun459,.

You must read and inform you on acoustic silencers ;)

If you open the program, you will see the following:
+ ATTENTION: The speed of the drive will return to normal speed if you restart or out of standby or hibernation. These settings can also be changed by other applications. +
