Satellite L305-S5944 - how Zoom Toshiba Utility work?

I have the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5944.

I had a question about the usefulness of zoom of the Toshiba.
Using the function + space bar, which is supposed to zoom, but it reduces the resolution.

What is the idea of this utility?
Is that what is supposed to do?

I mean lower resolution does not exactly make things bigger, but makes things more UN-net plus.

Hello!

Have you checked the user manual? You should do this.

On my Satellite L300 it s the same. If I press FN + space on my Satellite L300 will change the display to a lower resolution. All things are larger now.

If you want larger or icons and so you have to define this in the Windows display properties.

Good bye

  • FN key doesn't work is not Windows XP - Satellite L305-S5885

Hello, I recently downgraded my Toshiba Satellite L305 S5885 from Vista to Windows XP. Everything works well except the function (Fn) keys to control the screen brightness, volume. Some function as mute but most do nothing when I try to use them. All the installed drivers although Device Manager shows errors or lack nothing.

I tried to install all the drivers for the keyboard, the Fn keys, keyboard shortcuts, and still I can't work at all. Someone was able to get these keys to run after the installation of WinXP or you know what drivers/software I'm missing? These keys can be used in XP or they work only in Vista?

    Thank you.

This feature has nothing to do with the operating system or Device Manager. FN keys feature Toshiba use for years and in my opinion, it will be used in the future also.

As I see you probably have US laptop model. I put t know how he works in the United States, but here in Europe Toshiba offered special WXP BIOS update. After installing this BIOS the FN keys work correctly.

In order to check it please US Toshiba support site under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp to see what is available for Windows XP Home edition. I also recommend you check the section ask Iris. Maybe you can find useful newsletters.

One last thing: under http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ws-laptop&redirCnt=1 you will find the forum we Toshiba. There, I hope that you will find answer to your question.

Good luck and please let us know if you set up Windows XP Home edition successfully.

    Hello

I'm a little confused about your ad Mr. what you want to know exactly?
I mean as you can instead of LAN WLAN without problems. It s the same just without cable. You need to check the settings of TCP/IP on your computer which is also a function of the router and enter the right password of the router that s all!

Furthermore, I founded an interesting document:

I moved this from the pre-installed operating system partition. I wonder about the control panel. I installed it, but other silly messages seen the media on my own tab. Is - this control panel the "Toshiba Assist"? Any ideas, or maybe the exact dirver name so I can reinstall it. Zoming utility is there but does not work on the second partition of the OS.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I put t know how you installed your OS but it is very important to install Toshiba stuff in the right order. On the site, you will find an installation instructions exactly. Please take a look.
In addition, you will have to install controls to use the media buttons. I also found an Atheros lan driver. The zoom utility includes a driver and software. You need these 2 parts.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1ZF how to run the Toshiba face recognition system

    Hello

How can I use on my Satellite A200 Toshiba face recognition system?

The only problem with this software is the program do not see my cam.
I mean... he see cam, but when I try to save the new face in system then I can read something like "the webcam is currently used or there is problem with hardware.

So I turn off the webcam toshiba utility, but nothing has changed.
The hand of the webcam is running correctly. Her webcam Chicony as in the series of toshiba A300 same driver is the same (date, time, number, series)
So if someone knows what could be wrong please answer...

    Thank you
    Good bye

    Hello

I checked the download page for your laptop Satellite recognition tool and the face is not available, so I assume that you downloaded it for a different model of laptop.
It is not so important, and I think it should work anyway.

I have more Satellite P200 and he was also delivered without face recognition tool. I installed it anyway and it works perfectly. My laptop have factory settings and camera Assistant software is DISABLED.

Your laptop is installed with the recovery image too?

Try to remove the preinstalled face recognition software and remove the webcam in Device Manager, restart your laptop and try to install it again. It works on my laptop and I see no reason why it shouldn't work on your too.
On this forum many people asked if this software can run on older models of laptops and a lot of people have confirmed that it works well.

  • Satellite M110 - Toshiba utility blocks the shortcut Ctrl-space

    Hello

I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite (M110), which has Win XP installed on it.
I am a .net developer, so I regularly use * IDE for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 *.

There is a * Ctrl-space * shortcut that is used in almost all IDEs (Visual Studio NetBeans, Eclipse) for code completion.
    * I can't use shortcut Ctrl-space in IDE * because it is intercepted by one of the Toshiba Utilities.

I've checked all my options in the IDE, they are correct. I tried to reassign the keys to the IDE, it still does not work.

    * I uninstalled * all utilities Toshiba (Hotkey, ConfigFree, Fn-esse, Toshiba utility etc.) and it worked.

Can you please suggest how * delete or reassign shortcut keys Ctrl-space * used by Toshiba utility?
    Thank you
    Marie Claude Singh

I think that it of not possible to reassign the shortcut used by Utility from Toshiba.
If you need this shortcut in the IDE, you must remove the tool that blocks this shortcut.

Sorry, but I don't see another solution at this time

The BIOS assigns COM1 and COM2 serial port to the built-in modem. However there is not a single option for the IRDA port not found.

How can I make the IRDA port works under DOS?

In my opinion it of not possible to use the IrDA DOS, because drivers must be installed and initialized.
The IrDA port driver is a common Windows driver and the irda connection works only when windows was loaded

  • How to connect by Satellite L305 to TV with HDMI Cable VGA

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305, running windows vista Home premium.
I bought a HDMI VGA cable but when I plug my Satellite on my Westinghouse TV I can't get the two to connect.

    Please help me.

    Hello

You try to connect to laptop (HDMI) to TV (VGA) using an HDMI cable to VGA?
As far as I know this is possible only if the s for computer laptop HDMI port can be set to analog signal. As much as I know this option is not available in the BIOS or elsewhere.
So if you want to connect VGA HDMI Digital common so I have to say; It won't work buddy.

You will need something like HDMI to VGA Converter that converts the digital signal into analog signal.

  • Satellite L305-S5919 - keys just stop working

    I have a Satellite L305 - S5919 & first my ESC, Q, 4 keys stopped working.
I've only had it for 4 months what has happened. Does anyone know why these keys would simply stop working all of a sudden & I could do about it?

I called Toshiba support & they want back me, but I do not do without my computer so would like to fix it on my own. My keys do not hold or seems broken or anything. They are similar to those of others. OK yesterday my little boys spilled my Mtn dew on my keyboard, where is my space bar. My space bar is stiff so ive been told I can jump off keys & clean under it but looked that up & read you can possibably break if you put a lot of pressure. I can't afford to break it because I don't have any other insurance when I bought in July so I did the 1 year warranty for whats wrong cannot be the way I took it my fault or I have to pay to hget fixed it. Can I jump the SPACEBAR off? & If so, what are the chances of breaking? If I can pop off is their a certain direction, I need to pull up?

Thanks for reading and any help you can give!

    Hello!

I can t tell you why this happens with your keys, but don t forget that the keyboard is a mechanical part of the laptop such things can happen at any time. I guess you're not the first person who had such a problem. ;)

In addition, you can t return only unique keys. If certain keys n t work more, need to replace the entire keyboard. Of course you can do it yourself if you want to go to an ASP but if replace you that you pay for a new keyboard.
I think that the repair shouldn't t take a lot of time. Normally, the keyboard is replaced in a few minutes. Just talk to the technicians.

    Hello

All devices on your laptop recognized in device properly Manager or if you have yellow exclamation points?

I assumed that the Satellite L305 has not been delivered with Vista 64 bit so did the work of micro with preinstalled Vista?

Maybe you should try to update the audio driver of your laptop. On the Toshiba site I didn t find a 64 bit Vista driver but maybe you are looking for a driver on the site of the factory of the sound card or on the Europe of Toshiba for Satellite L300 page (it s similar to yours).
