Satellite L350-147 is in process

Hello

So I got this laptop for repair, because it was stop. now that the laptop is out of warranty, I went through the usual tests, and it turns out that laptop turns off completely if:
-its plugged into a charger
-battery only
-charger, without battery
-No ram
-no hard drive

He died even while in the bios. so I checked the warm-ups and it seems all good, everything works cool. But what I found that one particular chip, Winbond chip, becomes incredibly hot instant battery or charger is plugged computer stay warm at the moment it is powered.

now I'm wondering, can it be fixed? the Board of Directors and I guess that this chip is the only reason system stops. or maybe there is something to short circuit the thing or something. any help would be really appreciated.

Hello. Looks like it is something with auxiliary elements (capacitors, resistors, or something), passing power to the chip. I would check first. If you have a multimeter, try to analyze the tension and resistnce on all the elements allowing the track to the circuit of the chip. If everything is ok, it's certainly Winbond chip. Replacement will be the trick.

I want to reinstall Vista without touching the second partition that is full of data.
I'll be able to do with this procedure? http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm#

The confusing part is when it says in the explanation that the * entire hard drive * will be formatted (step 2) but on one of the photos, it is written that only data on C: will be erased.
I have Satellite L350, and the hard drive recovery process is the same as on the connected tutorial before (I'm not completely obviously)

    Hi amigo

I tested its operation, and from my experience, I can confirm that when you use the HDD recovery procedure as described in the Toshiba document all data saved on the second partition won t be deleted.

Only if you are using recovery DVD (please create a) will be formatted the whole HARD disk.

  • On Satellite L350-170 drive failure

I have a Satellite L350-170 who suffered a failure of the drive. I did not the recovery disks. The only part of the hard drive that I can access is the recovery partition.

Anyone know of a way I can copy it to another disk and use it to rebuild me laptop?

It will not work on this path. You can use this recovery image with F8 (computer repair) only.
You cannot move to for example external HARD disk and start the process of recovery from there.

Until you have the factory settings, you can install OS using F8. You can do this so often desired.

  • How to start the installation of recovery on Satellite L350-170?

    Hello

I'm new to this so please be gentle with me! -J' have a Toshiba Satellite L350-170 (Windows Vista SP2). I burned the recovery DVD 2 right after that I got back. I decided to get it back to factory settings, so I put the first recovery disc in the drive and... nothing. It will not automatically play/start to start the recovery process. I can access the files on the drive through "MY COMPUTER" but you can see a 'set-up '. I had already used the discs to recover and it worked then no problem.

There is nothing wrong with the computer or the error messages

Apologies if its been said before, but can someone help or I would like to know what is happening please?

    Hello Mike

If it worked in the past that I n t see the reason why it shouldn't still works one time, except the discs are damaged.

    Anyway, try this:
Start your laptop and press F12 repeatedly to enter the boot menu
Insert disk 1 into the optical disc drive
In the list, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER

ODD must start to read the disc and you should see something on the screen.

    It works for you?

  • Satellite L350 - compatibility vs AHCI mode

I installed XP mode dual boot with Vista pre-installed on a Satellite L350-20J.

Since I couldn't find the files needed for the process of F6 in the Matrix Storage Manager (in the section driver Toshiba L350 for XP, you get an EXE file) to use during the installation of xp in the BIOS, I changed the SATA AHCI setting in compatibility. The installation went well.

Once XP has been installed, when I tried to run the Matrix Storage Manager driver, I got the message "this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. However, the chipset utility has been installed without a hitch.

When I went back the setting of "compatibility" to AHCI in the BIOS, it may that the system does not start properly. It would direct me to screen multiple choice for safe mode, etc.

How can I get SATA mode at this point?

You can't do that. If you switch to AHCI mode, you must reinstall WXP.
    Simple switch will not work.

I tested it on my Satellite A300. I installed Windows XP Home edition in compatibility mode. With AHCI mode, I got blue screen every time when I tried to start Windows XP Home edition.

  • My experience using MS Synctoy on Satellite L350

It is using the excellent and free MS Synctoy to synchronize the laptop and desktop computers all works beautifully on WiFi, but there are one or two oddities to know.

I'm just thrilled to have this machine works again. And what a beautiful machine. I can't believe how fast it is. My office is similar spec. around a 2.2 Ghz dual core Pentium, 2 Gb RAM etc, but the little Toshiba is much, much faster. And a sharp screen PIN as well. I think it's way of s of great hint that my desktop computer needs a complete reinstallation. Dell I have used for the last six months, or two is not going to get a look in.)

No problems as far as I am concerned, but I hope it will be useful to anyone trying to do the sync or backup on a Windows XP or a version later L350 or another Toshiba.

SyncToy is not well known. Curious. It should really be an automatic installation of Windows. It began, I think, as a beta only, but is now in full version. But you have to download it from Microsoft. Download £ MS Synctoy just type in a search engine, and you will find it.

It works very simply, from the point of view user s. strictly speaking, you only need an installation on the master machine that never should be. You set up pairs of folder to synchronize for example My Documents on your laptop and the same folder on any other machine. Wi - Fi networks are not a problem.

There are various, largely explicit options but the I'm going for is sync. All the files on the master machine new, updated or modified are duplicated to the slave machine and the clever bit, vice versa. The first copy is inevitably a lengthy process. In my case, about 6.5 GB. After that, it is very fast. It identifies what are its needs to copy files, and only those who are transferred. Whatever it is.

I got a little lazy and have Synctoy installed on my Toshiba L350, as well as on my desktop computer. So I can push a synchronization to another end.

Please be aware that Synctoy, in its current version, shall, at least on Windows XP Pro, Installe.net 2.0. This me raised slightly towards the top. I had installed. Net4, thinking that all earlier versions would be grouped in. They are not. Download installers for. Net1, 2.5, and 3 to ensure that your computer has all the angles covered.

Like Synctoy, why they are not included in the default Windows install is beyond me. Drunk, they are all free.

PON there we have it. My Satellite L350 will now synchronize form anywhere in the House or the garden via Wi - Fi. Or vice versa. Three clicks of the mouse is done.

The only thing I can't seem to synchronize is MS Outlook 2003. MS insist to buy the Exchange Server for this, which is annoying. I know that the ports in the software are here. My mobile (Nokia) automatically synchronizes with Outlook, like Yahoo! Mail. But I put t know how.

The only round (fairly easy) way is to export a .pst from Outlook file to a location of your choice in the folder that you want to synchronize (for example, My Documents) and then import it on the guest computer. But it's a slight pain compared to the progress otherwise Synctoy effortlessly.

Please note, that I have no interest in Toshiba, or any of the software mentioned here. It is just designed to help anyone wanting to synchronize. their Toshiba laptop with one or several other machine or vice versa.

(Kind words on another thread regarding my Satellite L350 obtaining go after a relocation complete. M. X. Merci again for all your help absolutely invaluable.

Nice to see you here in the forum ewen :) and thanks for sharing your experience with us! Marry Christmas!

  • Satellite L350 does not start

I have a satellite L350 who will not complete the boot process. When I turn on the camera, it will get to the screen that says windows, with the Green scroll bar and that's it. Then my screen turns off.
When I try safe mode, I get a blue screen with an error message. I went into the bios and change the boot sequence to try to run my recovery disk. When you do this I just get the same black screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello

This means that you are not able to reinstall the OS using any disk (disk recovery, Windows XP, Vista or Win 7)?
The BSOD may be a hardware problem or serious software product, but it looks more like the hardware issue if you're not able to reinstall new OS.

In this case, the RAM (memory sticks) and the HARD drive must be verified.
I recommend you to try new memory modules. The HARD drive can be checked by using a tool called Drive Fitness Test which can be downloaded for free from some pages.

If you don t have right spare modules so I advise to ask a local technician laptop help guys should put new, the work packages and test the laptop.

    Your warranty is valid?
If so, get in touch with ASP from Toshiba, that might help.

  • Satellite L350 - built in microphone does not work after upgrade Win8

    Hi people,

I have this problem since I went from Vista to windows 8. my sound card seems to work ok. My webcam works also. I made sure I chose the right microphone on the Panel etc. so theoretically there is no reason why it shouldn't work... but it is not working.

im guessing it has to do with my laptop being old enough, so no compatible drivers? I have a Satellite L350.

    What should I do?
    falone buy headphones?

    best!
    Al

I understand that you want to use newer OS on this old piece of hardware, but it can be problematic to use it if certain model of laptop is not fully compatible.

I think you're the first person who reported thereon. Unfortunately, I can't help you with this but if possible ask a friend if you can get outputs audio headphones and test mic ports.
It will be interesting to know if you will be able to use the headset.

    Please post comments.

  • Satellite L350 does not connect to the internet, network adapter yellow exclamation

Trying to help my Nan with his laptop...
    Model is Satellite L350-170

Does not connect to internet, even using the Ethernet cable. Network cards have yellow exclamation marks on it and seems he needs an updated driver. How the hell can I download and update if it does not connect to the internet. And then, what update is necessary, because I searched on here and there is no update driver for network card?

She had various internet help from its supplier and a visit at home but still no joy. Internet works fine on other devices. Any advice greatly appreciated.

All the drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba UE driver page.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Choose your model of laptop in the form of download and the system that is pre-installed on you unit.
Then, you will get the list of drivers.

If you are not able to connect to the internet due to lack of driver LAN/WLan, then you another computer for download.

You asked how to remove the network card?
Usually, you need to access the Device Manager (in Control Panel) then we need to expand the area to network adapters and you will find the LAN and WLan card.
Click the single LED adapter, and then press or click on uninstall button driver

  • Satellite L350-171 - where to get the DVD to upgrade Toshiba (Vista to W7)

    Hello world

I have a Satellite L350-171 and got a W7 DVD update "awhile." I get only round to install now and the first thing I see in the instructions, it's that I should have a upgrade DVD Toshiba, which I did :-(

Anyone know where I can get one, or if I need any? If not then can I just upgrade and hope that all drivers updated automatically? Sounds a bit risky

I hope this is the right place to ask.
If it isn't then point me in the right direction and I'll ask here rather :-)

Thanks in advance for any help

    Damian

A few years ago, Toshiba offered this upgrade program.
It's over and you can't upgrade drive more.

What you can do is be upgraded using the original disc of Microsoft, but I think you should do clean install Win7. Your model of laptop is supported for Win7 and all necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba support page http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Before starting with the upgrade Win7 create original Vista recovery DVDs.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 or if you have other questions, you are welcome.

  • Re: Satellite L350-170 - cannot use cloned recovery partition

I have a laptop of s Satellite L350, one friend that I tried to fix it, but the HARD drive is faulty, so bad, that I can't create the restore disks. I cloned the image to another HARD disk partition (Yes, I created 2 partitions) which is a western digital, for some reason any when you press F8, I can't in the restore option, but I can't the disk faulty, is - because you use a Toshiba HDD only?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

    Hello Chris

It has nothing to do with Toshiba HDD. This option works when the laptop is preinstalled with original recovery image. This with cloned partition will not work and recovery of HARD drive option will not appear in the advanced boot options.

Only when you install Recovery on this new HARD drive image, going to market.

One last thing: this old L350 works fine with Win7 32 bit so if possible install instead of using original Vista.
