Satellite L500-017 - acting erratically CPU

I recently bought the Satellite L500-017 who has the dual-core processor Intel Pentium T4200 2.0GHz and came preloaded with Vista Home Premium.

Being a buff and new XP on Vista, I wonder why my dual-core CPU is erratically? Nifty box it jump around, watch same redlining of use of 90%, which seems strange for a dual-core. The AMD X 2 3200 + on my PC never jump that much.

Any ideas? Is considering wiping in all cases for Windows 7 x 64 or go back to XP x 64 anyway, I wonder if I'll have the same questions in one of these versions.

Thank you!

Mike

Hello!

I put also t know why this happens, but I guess that the reason is not the CPU, it s software. Maybe you run a large number of background processes or have installed a large number of software applications.

First of all, I would recommend deletion Toshiba TEMRPO because I founded this:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ9401B10001R01.htm

In addition, it would be interesting to know what software AntiVirus or InternetSecurity you use.
I have good experiences with Kaspersky and AntiVir.

Good bye

  • Pixel dead Satellite L500-017 - HDD is moved to another laptop?

I recently got a laptop Toshiba Satellite L500-017 (recently as in, like, 4 days ago) and the bloody screen ALREADY has a dead pixel.

I intend to trade him because he is still under warranty, but my question is this; they will replace the whole laptop, or they will be able to move the hard disk to another computer?
Considering that I've already implemented so (80 GB of programs and music) on my laptop and the amount of time that I got it before he messed up, I think that it's just that they actually past it to spare me the time.

I mean, Holy crap I have yet a week and the screen has a dead pixel! What kind of manufacturing is it?
I would not normally receive so angry, but in such a short period of time, it's already messed up, and that is it pissing me just off the coast. I know that it is a single pixel, but I don't know if it'll be only a pixel, considering how long it took to arrive.

    So my question is this;
because it is still under warranty, is it possible they can move just the hard drive on one with an another L500-017?

    Hi mate

I'm not sure if the ASP would replace the screen if only a dead pixel is visible.
I found this Toshiba FAQ on dead pixels:

+ Information about the technology and pixel for LCD screens display fault tolerance +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm

I think that you should simply visit your dealer where you bought this laptop and laptop should ask for replacement.
Usually the dealer should replace the entire notebook
But you must back up your data to another HARD drive because I doubt that they empty the HARD drive on another unit.

    See you soon

    According to the Intel page:

    the chipset supports the:

Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X 9100 (3.06 GHz, front side bus at 1066 MHz, 6 MB Cache)

    Processor Intel® Celeron® 925 (2.30 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache)

To be honest I'm not quite sure if all these processors would be compatible because of the BIOS, but if the new processor is supported by the chipset, but chances are not too 'bad '.
However, it is just a theory and everything you do, is at your own risk.

  • Satellite L500-1XR CPU compatibility

    Dear members of the Forum!

    I have a Toshiba L500-1XR (PSLJHE-001001HU).

    Its origin comes with core i3 - 330 M (C2) CPU.
I would like to upgrade to i5 - 520 M or better CPU-that same recessed and have the same energy consumption.

    The i5 CPU, there are 2 steppings: c2, k0
    My CPU have C2 stepping.

    My question is:
2.00 BIOS supports K0 steppings CPU is that also, or - newest (?) downloadable BIOS 2.10 supports K0, step by step, or not at all?

So I can use them all, even embedded CPU, or C2 single stepping of the?

I have not found any relevant information on the internet.
Where can I find more information on changes in the BIOS?

I think you know that there are two important facts about the CPU upgrade:
The new processor must be supported by the chipset, as well as by the BIOS.

It is very easy to find support for chipsets.
The laptop was equipped with a Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset and support is listed on the Intel ARK page
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/43183/Intel-BD82HM55-PCH

Under compatible products, you will find that all taken chipsets supported processors

But even if the chipset would support the new processor, there is a still pending regarding BIOS support. Unfortunately, there is no information on the CPU / BIOS supports.

But to my knowledge that different models of Satellite L500 were equipped with an Intel Dual Core 2 Duo processor and Intel Penryn/Celeron CPU takes in charge.

From my point of view of the few if you want to upgrade CPU, you must choose one of the series mentioned.

But once again: can not say with certainty that this CPU would be funded.

  • Temperature of the CPU in Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef

    Hello!

I bought Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef November and up to now laptop worked brilliant. Three-four weeks, touchpad and little space to the left of the touchpad began to be hot. I checked the temperature of the CPU in Toshiba PC Health Monitor (v 1.4.1.64), and it was about 30%, with 40% of the cooler. The temperature is increased over time and now, after four weeks, the touchpad is warmer, and is approximately 45-50% od CPU temperature, with 50 to 60% the use of the cooler.

I am using laptop for Internet only, work in MS Word and listen the music, sometimes I play Warcraft III on it, I have Windows 7.

Should I go with PC support, or it is normal in my model?

    Best regards

    Hi mate

It s nothing unusual that the touchpad would be hot from the CPU and cooling modules are placed near the touchpad.
So in my opinion, you shouldn't be worried about it.

Laptop s temperature can increase after a certain time of use
In this case due to the dust inside the cooling fans
If you wish, you can try to remove the dust using a jet of compressed air
I do from time to time and this helps to keep the temperature at the lower level

  • Re: Satellite L500 - fan power switch every 5-10 seconds

    Hello

    I have a new Toshiba satellite L500 1XX with i3 and I installed the 32 bit OS.
Starting from the first start, the fan is acting strange every 5-10 seconds it started working for 5-10 seconds then stops for 5 to 10 seconds, then again, who's going all the time even if the flurry of the laptop stand out with something.
I think that something is wrong, but was not able to find it. Please I need help
    Thank you

    Hello

That's ok with your laptop. My satellite that a500 is also like that, even if I surf the Internet, watch movie and CPU shows only 5%. I don't play all the games. It didn't because of the dust because I clean it regularly, installed all the drivers, BIOS updated. The only way to make it quieter to run the fan at a constant speed as 54%, I simply load the CPU with some applications that maintains fan runs almost every time and not boring perceptible noise.
You can play with the power settings in the power management, but in my case it does not help. And do not decide yet upgrade the Bios, it don't improve you but can kill your knees so wrong.

    Bazlaha, ahi!

  • Satellite L500-19F - Exchange processor

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-19f, but the processor (Intel Core 2 Duo T6600) is not the option of virtualization (VT - X).
I thought about buying another processor with this option, such as the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T8300 (2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 3 MB Cache). I would like to know if it is possible to make this change on my computer.

One of my doubts is that if appears the possibility to activate or disable VT - x mode in BIOS, and if not, when I run the OS if it is possible to use this capacity of the processor...
I have updated bios updated to version 2.10...
    So, what do you think?

In my opinion exchange of CPU makes no sense and will not help at all. As far as I know Toshiba doesn't offer special BIOS updates and, usually, exchange of CPU is not supported.

  • Satellite L500 BSOD

    Hello

I have a "small" problem. It all started with the following BSOD:

    0x00009C (0x8922c94c, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I managed to find the touchpad is defective. I unplugged, problem solved.

It was working fine until I noticed that a single core working on 2 (Intel i3 M330).

    In the BIOS, I found:

Freqency Mode Dynamics Processor - always low

    Basic multi-Processing - disabled

    So I went on to:

Frequency dynamic CPU - Dynamic mode

    Multi-process Core-activated

For the first time, the 64-bit windows 7 crashed with the followind BSOD message:

    STOP 0X0000009C (0XFFFFF88002F6BB70, 0 X 0000000000000000, 0 X 0000000000000000, 0 X 0000000000000000)

Since this post I turn on but there is no display, no response.

Is there any solution for this?

    Model: Satellite L500-1QK

    PSLS9E-01000SEN

    > Since this message I turn on but there is no display, no response.

I'm afraid I n t m understand what hear you by no display exactly?
You see the Toshiba start screen and you can access the BIOS correctly?

From my understanding this BIOS must be set to default settings (in the BIOS press F9 and F10 to save the changes) in order to obtain the same BIOS settings configured by Toshiba, then the BIOS must be configured correctly.

In General, the BSOD appears due to severe software or hardware problem.
Most often the system recovery should resolve system problems, but if the BSOD appears even after using the recovery disc, then I guess that your material is affected.

This would mean that any unique material such as memory or the motherboard needs to be tested

  • Satellite L500 14 X - Fan switches do not properly under Fedora 12

    Hello people,
I seem to have the same kind of problems with the fans of speed on my recently purchased Toshiba Satellite L500 14 X and Fedora 12
The fan turns slowly until the processor gets 37 degrees. Then it runs at maximum speed, and never slowed until the reboot.

I updated the BIOS to 1.60

Now, in the Ubuntu 9.10 on the same notebook it WORKS CORRECTLY. When the CPU is hot on 37 or more senior degrees it starts to spin faster and when CPU back to 34 degrees, the fan slows down and works almost noiselessly!

I tried all the options of the kernel: acpi.power_nocheck = 1, acpi = off, acpi_osi = 'Windows 2006', and so on — nothing has really changed.
I tried different Fedora kernels, include 2.6.32 - nope...
I tried to find a reason why it works under Ubuntu and does not work in Fedora 12... But have yet to find something fishy... And I think that the problem is somewhere in the kernel.
The main difference I see is that on fedora 12 I can not install the proprietary ATI driver, who normally installs on Ubuntu 9.10. It is because of the xorg version in Fedora 12 and seems that we must wait for the next version of the ATI drivers.

One last thing - in Fedora 12 notebook became hot very quickly and without reasons of course.
In Ubuntu, it's not so fast and requires CPU load with something serious.

I don't want Fedora to Ubuntu, just because of this problem of FAN (nothing personal :))) so I need to get this working in Fedora 12)

Maybe someone faced the same thing?
    Any help much appreciated! :)

    Hey!

I found the solution. Incredible, but the index is ATI owner driver. As I mentioned previously, the Fedora 12 version of the ati 9.11 driver cannot be installed due to the latest version of xorg.
I reinstalled my toshiba with Fedora 11, install the driver from ati.com ATI and here us are :) now fans are working properly!

  • Satellite L500-1UU - disconnect the battery when it is connected to the AC adapter / CC

    Hello world

I have purshaced new Toshiba Satellite L500-1UU
    CPU: Intel (r) Core i3 CPU M330 2.13 GHz
    Physical memory: 4096MB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7600

My question is: remove the battery when I use my computer laptop while its connected to the AC adapter would be wise or not? This would increase or decrease the life of the battery, or it will not affect anything?

Is i3 processors have a technique of centrino disconnect battery power whent, it is fully charged?

What do you think of this?

    Hi Khaild Essam,

I agree with Akuma. There is no problem, remove the battery when the AC/DC adapter is connected. If you can do it. In addition the battery charge will be stopped if it s at full charge. The laptop consumes energy to AC/DC adapter only.

If you remove the battery and work with AC/DC adapter only, the battery life will be improved a little because it s not in its use.

I found an interesting document for you:

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1XL, when I turn it on the fan and lights and the hard drive light blinks several times then nothing, he's not going to the Toshiba screen remains black screen, tried ext monitor but still nothing.

The fan always runs very quietly and the hard drive is running in, I put the hard drive in an another L500 and it is very good and can be accessed without problem, it has only 1 stick of 2 GB of RAM DDR3 and the other L500 I is DDR2 so I can't try to change the RAM. If I remove the ram should it beep or does only desktop computers do this? Mine does nothing when it is removed.

Any help would be very useful, thank you!

    Hi gazzdowzell,

If your laptop doesn t boot it seems to be a hardware bad working it could be everything, motherboard, BIOS, CPU, etc and it is difficult to say what exactly is the problem.

First of all, I would like to try this:
[What steps must be followed if your Toshiba laptop does not start? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=21]

If it doesn t work, please contact a service provider authorized in your country. If your laptop is under warranty, repairs are free.
In addition if you remove the RAM and the beep of t n for laptop, it seems to be another problem. If you have removed the RAM module would be defective, the computer would have a beep.

    Good luck!

I think so. If you compare your L500 with other models (different number of PSxxxx) the difference is available from hardware such as CPU, GPU, ability to drive HARD, perhaps, ports, but in general, the LCD is always the same.
