Satellite L500 battery question

Hello

I found a number of topics with similar issues, but none of the solutions worked for me, so this is:

I have a L500-1GE, which is about 6 years old, but has not been used much.
Since yesterday, it does not load when it's plugged in, and when I pull the plug, it stops immediately (everything goes black all of a sudden), although it shows the battery in about 25% power.

I just installed the bios more recent (2.10) on the official website of Toshiba, but I don't know if this has nothing to do with the above question.

Should I just buy a new battery, or is there something to try before that?

Thank you!

Me too!

  • Satellite L500 - battery won't charge

    Hello

I had a problem last week - my laptop (Satellite L500) works well on alternating current, but the icon shows "plugged in, not load ' and the battery charge is at 0%. So if I remove the outgoing cable it runs immediately. Lighting load LED on the front of the battery is not more.

Laptop is a little more than two years, but works well, everything original Toshiba (battery and charger). I had noticed recently that the battery life was not what it was when lappy was new, but it lasted at least 45 minutes or more, so I knew the battery was endangered, but it is hard to believe it's just failed when two weeks ago could load and run OK?

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.

    > so I knew the battery was on the exit door but find it's hard to think he's just failed when two weeks ago could load and run OK?

I think that nothing is impossible, that it means that the battery could be defective.
Of course, it is my personal opinion, but I see only two possibilities: either its battery problem or motherboard problem.

So if I was you, I would check if the problem persists with a new battery tested.

By the way: you can also view this short work around:
-disconenct the battery and ac adptor
-Press the button power (30-40 seconds long)
-connect the battery and AC adapter and turn on the device
-to check if the battery can be charged.

  • Satellite L500 - battery not charging

I have a Satellite L500-13W. This was bought to the Portugal, it is not listed on the website of the United Kingdom.

I have a problem with the battery. It will not charge although it will run when plugged in. I read on another blog that an update of the BIOS cured the problem on another model. I found an update on the Portuguese site, but I do not understand the language, especially when it comes to my laptop.

I was wondering if anyone was aware of this problem and the cure and also suggest how I would go about updating the correct BIOS

    Hello

First of all, you can download all the drivers on the European driver of Toshiba download page where everything is written in English:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Here you can also search for your model, as far as I know Satellite L500-13W belongs to the PSLJ3E.

More info on BIOS update: this update is a bit complicated because it could destroy your ROM module so before making the update, close all programs running also your antivirus and firewall, disconnect Internet and make sure that you are logged on as administrator. Do not stop the laptop during this procedure.

If the BIOS update work doesn t it seems to be a malfunction of the equipment. Maybe your battery needs to be replaced

  • Re: Question on my Satellite L500-1W5 battery

    Dear support,
I have a problem with my battery and have searched online help.
(it says "recommended to change the battery")

My problem is that I can't ask since TOSHIBA says that there is no such thing as my type of pc support online!
    Seems strange to me.

Toshiba Satellite L500-1W5, that is what is written below my pc.
Also there is no serial number... 3A467845K

Could you please show me how to do?

I will follow the recommendation and use it without battery?

    Hello

Sometimes it of possible to increase the performance of the battery if you calibrate the battery.
The battery must offload until it is completely empty.
Then recharge the battery until the battery indicator (led) turn to the green or blue (this depends on model laptop). This procedure should be repeated several times in the line
But if it does not help, I guess that the battery must be replaced.

  • Satellite L500-1UU - disconnect the battery when it is connected to the AC adapter / CC

    Hello world

I have purshaced new Toshiba Satellite L500-1UU
    CPU: Intel (r) Core i3 CPU M330 2.13 GHz
    Physical memory: 4096MB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7600

My question is: remove the battery when I use my computer laptop while its connected to the AC adapter would be wise or not? This would increase or decrease the life of the battery, or it will not affect anything?

Is i3 processors have a technique of centrino disconnect battery power whent, it is fully charged?

What do you think of this?

    Hi Khaild Essam,

I agree with Akuma. There is no problem, remove the battery when the AC/DC adapter is connected. If you can do it. In addition the battery charge will be stopped if it s at full charge. The laptop consumes energy to AC/DC adapter only.

If you remove the battery and work with AC/DC adapter only, the battery life will be improved a little because it s not in its use.

  • Satellite L500 - 1 7 battery problem

    Hi all

I recently bought a new laptop, the Satellite L500 - 1 7. It works well except that I have a question: I am aware of the fact, that the battery lasts about 2-2, 5 hours. But is it normal to make the computer stop when the sign of the battery watch 22% (happens after about 2.25 hours)? Then, as soon as I put in the power cable, the battery sign indicates suddenly 5%.
Is - this usual or something wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

At first, I must say that 2.5 hours working time on battery power is really great and it is the same with my Satellite A300.

To be honest, the whole story is a bit strange to me. Usually before the laptop shuts you should hear and see battery alarm when the critical power level is reached.
Please try to change these settings in the advanced power settings and watch what is happening exactly. Set it to 10 or 15% and also the settings what should happen when the critical threshold is reached (Standby/Hibernate / OFF switching).

If the critical level is 5%, I can't imagine the laptop turns off 22% without this battery alarm message.
How do you know that's going to happen on 22% when the laptop turns off suddenly?

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on Satellite L500 due to low battery

    Hey all,.

Obtained as Satellite L500 (PSLS0A-084002) here. I have the battery not charging issue and everything what I find point to an update of the BIOS.

Of course, there is a new BIOS for download from the drivers of laptops. So I have the file WinPhlash "sl500 (mv) _bios_w210.exe. However, by running the fact falling before flashing the BIOS with an error number: 144.

It is because of the battery is bellow 10% charge however I can't it above 10 percent fee that the laptop does not recognize it.

There must be a way of to WinPhlash running without check. I read that you can run it with the "/ forceit" switch and who will be ignoring the error, but that was for some time and it seems WinPhlash have changed this as she always spits the error.

I read running back help but after creating a boot cd back, he claims the exe cannot be run from BACK (ffffuuuuuuuu!).

Any help appreciated. Thank you =).

Maybe it sounds silly now but there at - it something serious, why you want to update the BIOS on your machine? I mean if everything is OK, why do you need new BIOS?

In any case, I'm don't know if this will help but please try to remove the battery and check if the update of the BIOS starts if your laptop works on AC only.

  • Satellite L500-1ZR - battery died during the first installation

    Hello

I really hope someone can help me.

During the first time I started my new Toshiba Satellite L500-1ZR battery died and my laptop turns off. I was in the middle of the installation and now when I start it, it gives a word of warning: "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install Windows, click OK to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. "However, when I click OK it restarts and I find myself the exact same caveat. I tried F2 and F12 to see if he had options to do a startup repair and also I inserted a disc on which I downloaded a hardware configuration, but it won't work.

Anyone got some ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi belisu,

The advanced boot menu, you can access via the F8 key before Windows starts.
With the F2 and F12 button, you can access the BIOS menu and start.

So try to use the F8 key to access the Windows Advanced Boot menu and try to start the Windows repair option. It starts from Toshiba HARD drive recovery and restore settings factory.

    Good luck! :)

My laptop is Satellite L500 (PSLJ3E).

  • Re: Battery discharged on Satellite L500

I just bought a satellite L500 and find low battery. On average how long should the laptop run on battery, when you use it for basic internet research or work? I have the installation program for the use of the optimized battery and it still works the flat battery in 3-4 hours.

    Hello

    > It still works the flat battery in 3-4 hours.

How do you run? It is quite normal for your laptop to run time. ;) You should not be worried about the battery.

  • Battery is not properly recognized on Satellite L500

    Hi all.

I ve Toshiba Satellite L500 with Windows7. Two days ago a red cross appears on the indicator of battery and opinion: 30% available plugged in, does not support. Consider replacing your battery.
And when I plug off AC Laptop stops. I replaced the battery but the same action when taken outside the computer AC stops. Don't run some antivirus programs, no results. I installed a battery tester who told me that the battery is not installed. Run the program CFS files not bad.
Haven't tried with the Power Manager no results.

My battery works well on other laptop similar.
    Pls help!

    Hello

Remove the battery and start your laptop with AC power only. When the operating system is loaded, turn the battery and check if the battery will recognize.
If this isn't the case, I guess there is a problem of electronic power supply on the motherboard and it should be checked by the Toshiba service provider.

  • Satellite L500 - what to expect from the battery?

I just brought a laptop Satellite L500/20. Can someone tell me what to expect of the battery?

I turn on the laptop and the battery will be charged 100%. Basically, as soon as the laptop is turned on, it seems to drain the battery at a rate of 1% every 1 minute. Is this normal? At this rate, my battery died a few hours 1 and a half. I don't watch videos, listen to music or download large files.

I use it mostly just for e-mails, must the battery completely drain it quickly?

    Hello

I think it all depends on the battery type (e. g. 9 cells) and what you do with the laptop. For example I have Satellite L300 with Windows XP and I can work 2 hours maximum battery and this means that only surf the Internet without watch videos and the lower display brightness.

According to the battery but I think that 1 hour and 30 minutes are ok on Vista or Windows 7 If you have a superior brightness of the screen.

By the way: on the Toshiba site I found some interesting tips of the battery:
