Satellite L500 habit upward on AC power

* Hello, I hope someone can help here.*

The laptop was bought in May last year and for several weeks, it has not been used when I plugged in and turned on there is no power. When on charge, I get a green (in DC) and Orange fixed (drums) and when I press the power button the power light flashes green - once, but very briefly.

If I remove the battery the laptop will not power not on either and only when using a fully charged battery will be the power of the laptop up. The battery icon shows it is charging only briefly when I plug. I even tried another Charger AC/DC, even if mine is good (tested) and also tested with another battery, nothing works.

To summarize, I have a good charger/battery (both tested) yet no charge battery or when not removed any power upward on AC adapter only. The socket is damaged during the inspection and not loose. Any suggestion would be useful to diagnose this problem and if anyone has the same problem please post ideas. Toshiba would cover repairs out of warranty on it, if it is a known fault?

* Thanks in advance for any advice! *

* Jacques *.

Indeed, this looks like something bad on the motherboard, it may be related to electronic food which is placed on the problems of power of the Council may be related to memory modules defective RAM too so maybe you should check the RAM first remove one module and try to turn on the device by using a module in different locations
Otherwise you would need help from a technician for laptop... ;(

  • Satellite L500 - heating power cord

    Hi all

I have a Satellite L500 with a heating problem. When in the course of use, the power adapter gets extremely hot, if the battery is in or out. So much so, that melted the case around the adapter. My first thought is that it's the cord itself which is defective and will buy a replacement for it. If not, should what other things I look for?

    Thank you

-Cord becomes very hot * with * or * without * battery
    -fans and vents were cleaned
-the heat is in an area around the power adapter

    > the heat is in an area around the power adapter
It of difficult to say what's wrong or if something is wrong.
I have two laptops Toshiba and the area around the plug of AC adapter is not warm or hot.

But in the worst case, it could be a problem with the power supply or the broken cable
Maybe you should try a genuine Toshiba AC adapter and another, good work.

  • Satellite L500-208 does not automatically go to power saving mode

    Dear guys,

    I have a Satellite L500-208 (Serial: PSLS9E) with pre installed Windows 7 64-bit.
For some time, the laptop does not automatically energy saving mode (as configured in the Power Options).

Automatic change "Energy saving" worked some time ago and all of a sudden, it stopped.
However, I do not remember what changed and probably caused the problem.

Everything works fine and a manual of hitting on "Energy Save Button" also works very well...

Before you guys suggest an update of the BIOS, the BIOS is version 1.60.
Current version is 1.90 (or same 2.00?).
Well, I missed an update and from the Toshiba Web space seems to be very rare, they offer only the latest version of the BIOS.

Can someone points me to older versions of BIOS, or any that may give a clue to the strange behavior power?

    Kind regards
    Frank

    Hello

Maybe there's something wrong with the Eco utility.
    I recommend reinstall this tool.
On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find this tool.
After the new installation, please check the settings provided by the Eco utility.
Eventually, you will need to activate the energy saving mode automatic

    Good luck

My Satellite L500-1XD wont power up.
Power supply failed. Received a replacement power supply, but all that happens when I plug it, that it is in the flashes of light (DC IN) (green) also makes a slight clicking noise.

No indication of battery or something else ideas? The book says something to do with the heat dispersion system

    Hello

You see a BIOS or Toshiba splash screen?
Nothing is visible on the screen?

If this isn't the case, I guess that your laptop developed a serious hardware problem and I think that the parts must be checked by an ASP in your country.
Theoretically, it could be related to memory, processor or motherboard
So first the RAM modules must be verified, and if the RAM modules are ok, then, the technician should follow with processor and motherboard.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite L500 - fan power switch every 5-10 seconds

    Hello

    I have a new Toshiba satellite L500 1XX with i3 and I installed the 32 bit OS.
Starting from the first start, the fan is acting strange every 5-10 seconds it started working for 5-10 seconds then stops for 5 to 10 seconds, then again, who's going all the time even if the flurry of the laptop stand out with something.
I think that something is wrong, but was not able to find it. Please I need help
    Thank you

    Hello

That's ok with your laptop. My satellite that a500 is also like that, even if I surf the Internet, watch movie and CPU shows only 5%. I don't play all the games. It didn't because of the dust because I clean it regularly, installed all the drivers, BIOS updated. The only way to make it quieter to run the fan at a constant speed as 54%, I simply load the CPU with some applications that maintains fan runs almost every time and not boring perceptible noise.
You can play with the power settings in the power management, but in my case it does not help. And do not decide yet upgrade the Bios, it don't improve you but can kill your knees so wrong.

    Bazlaha, ahi!

  • Satellite L500 - BSOD Identification of the Vista operating system

    Hello

I have the Satellite L500 (PSLJ0A-01F013 (experiencing a BSOD (Stop: 0X000C1F5) what googling has identified as being a file corrupted on HARD drive.)) Unfortunately, the difficulty MS must be applied before the corruption. I tried many options, I can not force a recovery by using the 0 key to the power upward and virtually abandoned. I intend to install a new HARD drive and load it Vista again. My main question is, how to identify if the licensing system is 64-bit or 32-bit? The certificate of authenticity only identifies it as Home Premium OEMAct.

If I reinstall Vista, is there a way to create a Toshiba Recovery disk as soon as I got the laptop works to my satisfaction, that is to say with all the drivers and additional software loaded?

    Thanks in advance

    > If I reinstall Vista, is there a way to create a Toshiba Recovery disk as soon as I got the laptop works to my satisfaction, that is to say with all the drivers and additional software loaded?
If you install the clean version of Vista, you will not be able to create the Toshiba recovery disc.

Only when the Toshiba recovery image is installed on your laptop, you can create this disk.

What you can do now is to install Vista clean with all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities and some third party application to create the recovery image. Many people here have reported that the right application for the creation of recovery image is Acronis.

You can also try to restore disc original order of Toshiba.

    Satellite L500 running Windows 7.

So far, I deleted the drivers of USB devices and the mouse through Device Manager and reinstalled at the beginning upward. strange thing is when I do that the mouse devices becomes operational during installation then become inactive at the end... This leads me to believe that he may have been the related power management. I chose high performance as profile of power favorite and disabled USB selective suspend setting, once more with no joy. I find that really odd how USB ports work in detecting the device and asking the right driver update... ideas?

    > So far I deleted the drivers for the two USB and...
Do you have which driver removed for USBs?

Satellite L500 is not the latest model cell phone, so I would like to know since when you noticed this problem.
Are you using the original version of Win7 you have with your laptop (recovery image)?
Have you tried reinstalling the chipset utility?

  • Satellite L500-1EK does not illuminate

    Hello

my laptop closed suddenly, and now it turns on again. When I press the power button, the light is on for a few seconds but nothing works. It happened again in the past that I could open it after a few hours and another time, I couldn't open it at all. Can you help me?

    Toshiba Satellite L500-1EK

    Hi AkisM

To be honest, it looks like a serious hardware problem.

I m not very good if its RAM or card mother question related, but in case of malfunction of the RAM, this problem could be solved easily.

RAM replacement isn t very delicate. For the most part its user described in manual and in my opinion, that the modules must be verified in the first place.

Of course, card problems mother, the replacement of RAM is not very useful.

  • Satellite L500 - battery won't charge

    Hello

I had a problem last week - my laptop (Satellite L500) works well on alternating current, but the icon shows "plugged in, not load ' and the battery charge is at 0%. So if I remove the outgoing cable it runs immediately. Lighting load LED on the front of the battery is not more.

Laptop is a little more than two years, but works well, everything original Toshiba (battery and charger). I had noticed recently that the battery life was not what it was when lappy was new, but it lasted at least 45 minutes or more, so I knew the battery was endangered, but it is hard to believe it's just failed when two weeks ago could load and run OK?

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.
    Rebecca

    > so I knew the battery was on the exit door but find it's hard to think he's just failed when two weeks ago could load and run OK?

I think that nothing is impossible, that it means that the battery could be defective.
Of course, it is my personal opinion, but I see only two possibilities: either its battery problem or motherboard problem.

So if I was you, I would check if the problem persists with a new battery tested.

By the way: you can also view this short work around:
-disconenct the battery and ac adptor
-Press the button power (30-40 seconds long)
-connect the battery and AC adapter and turn on the device
-to check if the battery can be charged.

    Hello

A Satellite L500 running Windows 7. It has suddenly slowed down, almost at a standstill. If I expose the computer for a few hours just on desktop it goes into mode "Eve" as expected.
The problem is that he comes back to life very slowly, taking minutes for each order to be processed. I usually give up and try to shut down the computer, but which can take forever. I finally hold the power button to turn off. When I reboot, everything is OK.

    Some messages have emerged:

AMD:CCC - AEMC prevents windows to stop.

    Any help will be appreciated
    BW

I assume that you have installed an additional application, which can be a troublemaker.
Google say that CNQMSWCS.exe is a Menu Image quick view Canon and it is application of Canon.

Please try to remove this app from the system and having it roll back OS asks to restore a few days using System. I hope that preinstalled OS will run again OK.

  • Satellite L500 - stop and a fan problem

    Hello.

A few months my Toshiba Satellite L500-1 stops frequently due to overheating, which occurs when the intensive use of the laptop (for games, photomanipulation etc..). However, I don't know what I can do about it. I won't open my laptop, unless I am told to open my laptop computer to perform a specific task.

Today, my cell phone off again. However, when I turn back I noticed that something happened with my fan. At this point, my laptop doesn't overheat not quickly as usual. Instead of 90 + % fanspeed there around 58-60% (depending on the Toshiba PC Health Monitor). However, I noticed that something happened with my fan. After that I noticed that the fan will sometimes be a trigger, that sounds once every 10 minutes when the laptop is under heavy use.

What should I do now? It worries me, I'd be worried about it? Perhaps another user from Toshiba with a similar problem can give me support. I'd be happy.

    Thank you.

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem.
When you use your laptop do you use desktop space?
Do you use it with power supply?

What power profile do you use when laptop stops?
Have you tried changing the settings of food or something else?

Before you start using it intensively have you tried to terminate background processes, disconnect the devices, just to see if that will help?

  • Satellite L500 - external screen display after closing the lid?

    Hello
I use the Satellite L500 - 120 Notebook, and before installing Windows 7, the laptop has a function very uncomfortable, when I applied an external display.
When I closed the lid of my laptop, Office was shown on my display (with the native resolution of the external display) external, so I had not to
change anything on the control panel. In Windows 7, Miss me this feature. I already tried to use the Control Panel, but there is no parameters, which fits
with the previous ones. I can duplicate the screen in order to see my desktop screen on my external screen, but with the resolution of 1366 x 768 laptop.
If I extend the views, then there is only the background image to the external screen, but this time with the native resolution.

So my question is, how to conifgure Windows to recognize that I closed the lid, and the screen should be shown on my external screen?
Or should I install applications Toshiba, that I had before, who visited account this function?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello

I m not a Windows 7 user because I want to wait until it will be released official, but I hope that I can help you a bit:

First of all in power management, you can choose the action that happens if you close the lid (g. e. sleep, close, etc.). This action must be disabled because otherwise the laptop shuts down or something else.

So I think that you need to install the display driver for your laptop. You can try the Vista driver because most of them are working on Windows 7.
Then you should be able to define the correct screen resolution for external monitor.

A working display driver is important to the clone or extends monitors to verify this!
