Satellite L630 - 16K - Chaning the size of the partition

Hey guys, I hope someone will be able to help me with this. Recently bought a TOSHIBA Satellite L630 - 16K, running Windows 7, works very well. But I really don't like how the default partitions have been put in place.

I basically want to extend the Windows partition (C :), which is 148,89 GB, in the amount of data (D :) which is the same size. This is where HDDRecovery files, so don't want to mess with it.

The problem is, whenever I have the volume (D :) and a new volume of vacuum is created to the right of it, Windows (c) cannot be extended in this new volume, because it is on the far right, and from what I can tell you can only expand in a new volume if it is directly on the right.

I created recovery DVD to my laptop as recommended by someone else, but I still hesitate to play on too with (d). I want to just large enough to hold the HDDRecovery files and then have all of (c) for everything else on my computer. Here's a screenshot of my set up disk management: http://oi54.tinypic.com/f4ml45.jpg.

Thoughts?

Hey,.

As much as I know which extends from the Windows partition is not possible with the built-in Windows disk management tool. Therefore, you need another tool that allows you to change the Windows partition.

I found a very similar thread where another user has successfully done this aid * tool GParted:

  • Satellite P300 - player of the Partition with Vista

    Hello.

I bought a P300-PSPC4C-SE308C demo, and it has installed Vista. I want to downgrade to XP. The drive is 300 GB and is distributed as a single drive. I would like to partition a drive C: and D:. I went into the BIOS and changed the AHCI on the 'compatibility' mode, if I understand correctly that he need to change than the AHCI setting, so that the laptop to 'see' XP. Now, I need to partition and format the drive. At first, I tried to install my Partition Magic 8, but it does not work with Vista. I tried to use "fdisk" to boot Windows 98 drive program, and he acknowledged only the reader as 49GB.

I need to know how to partition and format the drive and then install my XP. Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much... DJ

    Hello

You can also use a free program called GParted.
It s partitions management software that allows you to erase, to create, to shrink the partitions.

    Hello

I have a problem with the Satellite A665 - 16 k: press the buttons and FN functions. When I install pvat they stop working, but when I uninstall the pvat only some of them work.

How to fix? Model mu has a keyboard backlight and mine has a problem?

    > When I install pvat they stop working, but when I uninstall the pvat only some of them work.
The current situation of the article, but I would like to know what you've done in the past. As far as I know, and my own experience, FN keys can not stop working without any reason.
Are you using the original OS from Toshiba that was preinstalled on your laptop (WIN7 64 BIT HOME PREMIUM)?

Usually after installing fresh PVAT everything should work again. Akuma wrote install the version of the TOSHIBA Flash Cards 1.63.0.6C support utility but do it before installing PVAT.
    > Model mu has a keyboard backlight and mine has a problem?
I m really confused that you don't know if your laptop has this keyboard or not. Have you checked laptop specification before you bought it?
Please read the manuals for the user's document. You will find all the info on your laptop, on the use of hardware and software. Somehow, I think you don t know what you have before you.

Anyway, the control button Z as akuma wrote. You can also change the settings of the keyboard backlight.
Open Toshiba Assist > optimize > HWSetup. You can find it here.

I'm a fan of base 3 external off Amazon today.
    Its connected via USB.
I noticed today carpet mouse disabling a lot and freezes for about 2 minutes.

Is there something I can do?

    Hello

from my point of view, the external cooling pad might be useful, but I don't think t he would replace the internal cooling system.

In the case where your fan is broken and doesn't work t, the affected part must be replaced.
To do this the whole unit must be dismantled, and this could be a delicate procedure.

From my point of view of the few so you don t have enough experience, you should not try to disassemble the camera.
The risk of damage of the part is too high.

You must also be a consistent cooling module.
These parts can be ordered from authorized service partner Toshiba.

In my opinion its worth to spend little money to order the part replaced by the engineer.
Contact the ASP in your country and ask for help.

I have a Satellite Pro P200 with a shared about HARD disk:

C: Vista partiton - 17 GB of free to 56 GB
E: partition of data of-54 GB of free to 55 GB

I know that the data reader is used by Vista to contain information of recovery.

However, I would like to know if its possible to reallocate some of its spare production capacity at the Vista drive without compromising the recovery feature?

Of course, you can change the size of the partitions after Vista installation.

You can change this in the Vista Disk Manager s

Here, you could choose the existing partition, and then you could reduce the amount of partitions. This free volume can be added to another partition, or you can create another partition.

  • Satellite L500D - 16K - where to find the new updates?

    HY guys,.

When I bought my Satellite L500D - 16K, I complained in forums dedicated to this notebook page contained very few pilots. After some time, a week or two, she 'suddenly' populated with drivers for everything. Now, after verification not for awhile, the model everything just disappeared from the model list! There is no L500D - 16K here!

The automatic detection tool, which has worked before, now says your model is not found. Even if I search by serial number, the system can not find! Is not professional at all.

Any idea where I should look for to see if new updates appeared?

    Hi Glady,

What Toshiba page you are looking for exactly?
AFAIK Satellite L500D - 16K belongs to European laptops models and so you must search on this page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

On the European page click support & downloads > download drivers. The next page you will find:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

He's looking for series Satellite L500D and PSLTHE and you can find the new updates for her! :)

  • Satellite L300 - Chaning the HARD drive partitions

I'm not a computer expert, so answers in clear English + please.

I own a Satellite L300. Recently, the hard disk was doing fairly complete. I save all my files in "My Documents" etc... I had a look under my computer and the volume C: (called 'Vista') has only 5 GB of free space. However, there is also another volume E: (called 'Data'), and this volume is almost empty, apart from a folder called HDDRecovery.

I would like to start using this free space. I tried to reduce the size of the E: volume and the volume C:, but - although I can reduce volume E: via Start-computer-Manage - I can't increase the volume C:. In any case, I could only reduce the E: volume by half.

I created the recovery DVD, so can I remove this volume E: or not? And if I do, I'll be able to extend the C: volume to fill my hard drive?

If not, can I just start to save files in the E: volume it will affect what is already there?

What is the best course of action? What I would really like is just a very large volume, so that my files are in one simple place.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi André,.

First I put t understand why reduce you the E: volume or use only one partition. In my opinion every computer must have at least two partitions. On the second partition, I always save my documents, videos, photos, music, etc.. It is cool and can save a lot of time because if I reinstall Windows using the recovery disk, all the files it will not be deleted, only the first partition.
As you can see, the second partition is a useful feature!

But if you have the Toshiba Recovery disk you can do what you want. If a problem occurs, you can restore the settings from the factory with this disc in a few minutes.

By the way: here's an interesting article on the Windows disk management:

  • How to set the size of the partition you want on the Satellite C850-12D with W7 Pro?

    Hi all
I recently got a new laptop, Satellite Pro C850-12D with seven Pro: disk (500 GB) is first broken down like this:
    -a hidden little, 1.46 GB
-the folder C: one, Go 449,47 (visible by the user)
    -a hidden, 14.83 Gb

I would reduce the C: 100 GB partition in order to create a new one for the DATA.

So, I begin the process by using seven disk management tools, but the disposable size after reduction seems limited to a maximum of GB 226,685: C is greater than or equal to 233 570 GB.

I tried defragmenting C but its minimum size is 233 570 GB

Is there a method to overcome this limit and achivce my goal of 100 GB?

    Hello

I highly recommend creating a recovery disk before you change partitions on the HARD drive!
The Toshiba recovery media creator helps you create this disk and this are necessary in case something would be wrong with your HARD drive.

Back to the question of the partition:
You will need to use a 3rd third party tool like * Gparted * in order to change the size of the partition.

  • Change of card wireless in the Satellite L630

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite L630, which has a Realtek 8172 (or possibly a 8191SE;) I can't say the PCI ID) wireless chipset.
I installed a 64 bit version of Linux on it and there seems to be a total lack of support of the drivers for the wireless card.
The Realtek driver only a binary blob and blocks my entire system when I try to load it.

I have a card Intel 4965AGN Minipci wireless lying around that I know works very well under Linux, and I want to spend this card wireless with the Realtek card if possible. First of all, I need a few questions answered:

    1. the Satellite L630 use a miniPCI wireless card slot?
    2. about the motherboard location wireless card? (I can't find all the L630 anywhere internal diagrams)
    3. If I do this, it void my warranty?

    Thanks for your help!
    Nick

    > 1. The Satellite L630 use a miniPCI wireless card slot?
Yes, the L630 and other new age Toshiba laptops support slot for WLan miniPCI card.

    > 2. About where on the motherboard the wireless card is it located? (I can't find all the L630 anywhere internal diagrams)
I think the Bay of WLan is placed at the bottom of the unit.
To my knowledge it s secured with a screw.

    > 3. If I do this, it void my warranty?
    Yes, I think so.

  • Satellite L630 - how to rename files or folder in the Start Menu

I used to rename files and folders by clicking the right button of the mouse or touchpad set and choose Rename.
With my new Satellite L630, if I click on the right button, the menu with the options does not appear.

It does not appear when I right-click on ay other file or folder, but not in the start menu. I can also drag an item any within the start menu.
So I can not at all to customize (already tried with F2, does not or)

What should I do to rename, drag the items from the start menu?

Thank you for your kind contributions,
    Walter

    Hi mate

I assume you are using Win7. Right?

Cannot rename files (programs) that appear in the Start Menu.

    You can ONLY rename folders.
If you click on all programs, then you should also see some folders there.
Right click on the folder and you should see the option rename.
Choose this option and then you should be able to rename the folder
