Satellite L675 - Drive problems

Hello

Last night my laptop seemed to have been a power surge. Here is what happened:

I was on Skype on my laptop, but also using a program to capture images of my Hauppauge HD PVR. A friend and I used to play X - Box to record a double review for youtube, and suddenly my laptop turns off right on me. As it happened, the light of Hauppauge blinked at the same time as the computer laptop closed. I turned on my computer laptop back and they gave me the choice to run Windows normally or run in the variety of the security modes.
I left my cool laptop off for a bit, then turned it on. To turn it back on, I received this message:

* "Cannot get disk information, cannot use the alert function". *

I always get this message as a bubble, and I did a system restore and checked to find errors in the player.

What can I do? What exactly is the problem? If I had a power surge, he just spoil the hard drive? I regularly keep up, therefore losing whatever it is will be not that big of a problem, and in any case, it's just things. I literally use the laptop to type this message, so if something is wrong, is not a bad point of no use yet.

Any help would be appreciated!

> I always get this message as a bubble, and I did a system restore and checked to find errors in the driv
Do you mean that you have installed the system using the recovery disc or HARD drive recovery?

Would it be possible that this message is from a 3rd party software that you have installed on this laptop?

    Hello

I have a strange problem with my Installation of XP. I had to reinstall XP two days ago because there no periodically starts.

In any case on my new install, I can't install THE Conexant drivers, who would be the modem and audio driver. I need the modem, so this isn't the important point, but the sound is annoying. I've been trying several drivers I found on the internet but none work, they all complain to the facility, there is that no devices found which would correspond to the driver.

The strange thing is that I was able to install these drivers, when I installed XP about 3 weeks ago... I have no idea what the problem is now.
Both devices are displayed as "PCI Device" in Device Manager. What is interesting is that the Instance ID of the devices device do NOT correspond with those who are in the files of the driver... maybe a problem with the chipset drivers, who pack things?

    Any advice?

  • Satellite L675 - 11 H - cannot access and/or played on USB flash drive files

    Hi all

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L675 - 11H and tried to transfer files from a USB Pendrive on my hard drive from Toshiba. The files were already transferred from my old laptop (HP - XP) on my USB flash drive.

Unable to access the USB flash drive to any of the USB ports that I connect my new laptop flash drive. What could be the problem here? Thank you for your help or tips!

    Hey Rush,

Can you post more detailes about this behavior? What happens if you connect your laptop HARD drive, you don't see that Windows installs the drivers for the new USB device or do you have an error message? If you have connected the USB check of Windows disk management if she s recognized there (Control Panel > system and security > administrative tools).

Have you tried other USB devices such as USB mice? If they don t work too the problem might be connected to the USB ports. In this case, you must delete all the USB ports on the Device Manager and restart your laptop. Also the chipset driver update might help.

  • Windows 10 - FN button and touchpad lock/unlock button problem Satellite L675-11J

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite L675-11J and 10, lock/unlock FN key touchpad button do not work after upgrading to windows.
    Help, please!
    Best regards

Fn keys require special Toshiba software that controls this feature for laptop.

But Windows 10 drivers are not published for this series of Satellite L675 because is not win 10 supported.

From my point of few, this means you can use Notepad as part of Win 10 but without the keys FN function.

  • Alternative to the reset by Satellite A660 for potential HARD drive problem

In the last week or two, I got a few blue screens, saying he was driving demand, and that windows must be shut down to avoid damage my computer.

I have just restart and continue working.
The last time it happened, I had repeatedly "initialization failed" and it says hdd, SDS, fdd. If I pressed the power button until I didn't see no signs of activity, then started. Things went well. I called Toshiba support and they recommended that I go home and save my files before continuing. It took hours selectively to clean, sort the previous backups, and a small footprint of the backup system.

When I called Toshiba once again, they recommended a "takeover", which is restoring the factory settings. It puts me in the stone age. I have to go through a never-ending process of the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, install and reconfigure all the applications and environments/configurations, etc. It will essentially take on holiday, if not more. I'll also have to get another computer (maybe a netbook) to stay in touch while I restart my laptop. It's barely more than a year.

Is there a diagnosis I can do to determine the probability that there is a hard drive problem? Support for Toshiba said that is the surest way, because it provides a diagnostic F10 for the hard disk code, and it also pushes the bad sectors at the end of the disc (logically, I suppose, since you can't physically move a fault).

    > About Hitachi DFT, is it important that my HARD drive is Toshiba mk6465gsx? This is what is displayed "Hard drives" in the Device Manager.

It s no matter what HARD drive manufacturer, it is the Drive Fitness Test is able to scan all hard drives to find errors.

    > Also, http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFTshows links to create boot disks, but I was wondering if I could create a bootable instead.

Not sure if this is possible if there is that one option to create a startup disk, and then a flash stick does not work. But of course you can try this out.

    > This laptop does not come with a floppy drive, and I still create coasters trying to burn discs.
You don't need the floppy drive, the tool must create a disk bootable (CD)

My c drive has a "Program Files" folder, but also a "Program Files (x 86)" folder for 32-bit applications. Memtest86 is for the x 86 architecture. I don't know if my 64-bit Windows 7 involves a non - x 86 architecture.

I guess that Memtest86 should also work on Win 7 64 bit systems. But also the MemTest 4.20 is 64-bit capable

I am Windows 7 64 bit and chose the right driver for it.

    Should I use the 64-bit?
I have 3 MB of RAM which was the spec when bought.

If I wanted to change to 32 bit how you take you without the CD/DVD drive?
Is there any point in doing this?

    Hello

To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux?

If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.

When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.

If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

Before you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.

    Good luck

Remove the sound card from the Device Manager and the high definition Audio Controller from Device Manager.

  • Satellite M60-162: problem gambling (game)

    Hello
I bought a Satellite M60-162 to use for work and a bit of entertainment (including games).
It happens that all types of game, I installed (Medal of honor, C & C Generals, Nba live 2005, MS Flight simulator 2004) breaks down when it is run (just click on 'play' and after a while, the game crashes). The installation program ends normally, but every game crashes.
The only game that works is 'The elder scrolls III - Morrowind '.
I have updated with patches - if available - all games without any profit.
I also updated the graphics (Ati mobility radeon 700) driver and installed the DirectX 9 .0c. Nothing has changed.
Finally, I ran a test for the graphics system (3D Mark 360) to check if there were hardware problems. All tests have passed.
I don't know what I could do to remedy this situation.
Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hello

Believe me it's not easy to say why it happens.
It could be a driver problem or a software problem (game). The only way to know why it happens is to test the device with different settings. Try using a lower screen resolution during the games. Try to change the game settings.

Windows XP performance settings that affect the visual appearance of the operating system, most of the games have buried in their menus of Options graphic settings. The trick is to find them.

I found a very useful and interesting article how to optimize the parameters of play for performance and looks. Please click the link:

  • Win 7 32 bit of the necessary Satellite L675-10V drivers

    Hello

I have trouble finding drivers and applications for satellite L675-10V.
For 32-bit systems there are only 3 items to download without any application, while the 64-bit system is the complete list.
If there are drivers for 64-bit, there should be also for 32 bit.

    Hello

Try the Win 7 32-bit drivers that are released for other L series.
Try the driver for Satellite L655
Otherwise, try to install the drivers for Win 7 64 bit in many cases, that they could run on 32 bit OS.

  • Satellite L675 crashing when you do whatever it is the linked graphics

    Hello

I recently got a new Satellite L675 and am stuck with problems.

    I am running * Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit SP1 * and it has a Mobility Radeon HD 5650.

As I received the laptop, it would crash when doing something that contains a little graphic, IE running Windows Experience Index, certain opening excel docs and even to open games.

The laptop was running windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition (where the problem already taken place) and decided that a new facility would be sorting. However, this is not the case.

    I have the latest video drivers, which can be found [here | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 178 & selProduct = 5414 & selSh ortMod = 988 & language = 13 & selOS = 30 & selType = 11 & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = 11 & page = 1 & ID = 74607 & DISO = 3 0 & driverLanguage = 42].

On a side note, when you run dxdiag, it shows the system model is L670, L675 and not like the label under States. Don't know if this is normal, however the display drivers work for both models.

Also I sent again to where it was purchased and they did tests of material and there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

You can replicate this problem or not the laptop down occasionally and only from time to time?
What happens exactly? Do you get a BSOD?

I think that if you are not able to reproduce this problem, it would be really hard for the tech guys check the hardware
However, it's really unusual that runs any application causes the crash then maybe his hardware issue in this case I recommend asking Toshiba ASP (service) for assistance.

  • Satellite L675-10T stucks in a black screen after the new RAM upgrade

    Hi all

I recently decided to upgrade the memory in my laptop pretty.
I went online, has adapted Rams and ordered.

What I got are 2 of them:
    http://www.offtek.co.UK/RAM-specification/Toshiba/Toshiba-laptop-memory/satellite-L675-10T/pid921300

The installation is very easy, but as soon as I turn on my laptop, it stucks in a black screen with a straight white line underscore.

I guess it's an incompatibility problem?
    Could you please help me?

    Thank you.

I think you're right, it seems that the modules are not totally compatible, even if the online retailer page says they are
You can remove the new RAM modules just to check if the laptop to boot up properly I guess correctly the unit upwards.

Solution? Use a different RAM modules I had good experience using modules from Kingston, they might be a little expensive, but I think they should work correctly.

    Thx for any answer :)

    Hey,.

Why you want to install Windows 7 from the HARD drive?
Windows 7, you can only buy on CD/DVD, never heard of any version of HARD drive

In any case, I think that boot USB is not available. According to the Toshiba page you can start following devices:
    USB FLOPPY DRIVE,
    HARD drive primary.
    Optical devices,
    Network (LAN)

It seems therefore that boot from USB HDD is not possible.
