Satellite L855 - 10 p - stop suddenly, play 3D games

Hello

When you try to play 3D games, after more or less playing time, often less than 10 minutes, my Satellite will suddenly stop. Subsequently, it cannot be started for some time.

This kind of symptom is usually due to overheating, a common problem with portable Satellite (and besides, it's probably the last Toshiba I buy because they can't seem to get that fixed).
The usual solution is to remove dust from the inside of the laptop, for example with a soft vacuum.

It is impossible to do correctly without opening (and voiding the warranty) because they do not have access to the fan and the heat sink, put can help from time to time.

On this model, however, the exhaust gas is block by a grid (part of the heatsink I guess, which is logical) and on consumption, the fan is blocked so he can't turn in the opposite direction, which means that it is almost impossible to s * ck dust. Result: almost impossible to remove the dust. Well played.

So normally I would send my laptop for 'repairs' (which opens just the thing to remove dust and maybe redo the thermal paste, but you can do that yourself of course), but in this case, I noticed it very quick stop.

I can leave it on a 2D game or old low-quality 3D games (supreme commander says mode low quality) for hours without problem, even in hot weather, but as soon as I try a newer version in the game (for example Resident Evil 6, even in low quality) it stop quickly and without feeling so hot.

So I was wondering if maybe that this time, it would be a problem with the driver/graphic card. Let's say something like an order than crash the graphics card.

I have an AMD Radeon HD 7670 M with the 8.932.5.3000 driver version (the only one available for this computer and Windows 7 64-bit on the Web from Toshiba site).

Is there a known problem that could cause the graphics card to plant or overheating more than expected with this model?

(If you're wondering why I don't write s * ck in full letter, it is because the filter of profanity on this forum don't think it's a word that can be used in a normal conversation.)

> When you try to play 3D games, after more or less playing time, often less than 10 minutes, my Satellite will suddenly stop. Subsequently, it cannot be started for some time.

To me, it sounds like a GPU has worked at full capacity and produces a lot of heat, leading to high internal temperature.
To my eyes the air conditioner stops due to the high temperature.
The laptop supports a type of protective gear. The unit will stop automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

Dust and debris could be one of the reasons why the parties cannot be cooled properly.
> This kind of symptom is usually due to overheating, a common problem with portable Satellite
This kind of symptom happens to all laptop computers worldwide because of the airflow.

> I can leave it on a 2D game or old low-quality 3D games (supreme commander says mode low quality) for hours without problem, even in hot weather, but as soon as I try a newer version in the game (for example Resident Evil 6, even in low quality) it stop quickly and without feeling so hot

Games running on the low quality not stress the GPU a lot and this led to the dissipation low and low temperature.

> Is there a known problem that could cause the graphics card to plant or overheating more than expected with this model?

I don t think so more often, these problems can be solved by changing the settings in the windows power options (decreases the performance CPU/GPU, cooling method change) and, of course, in the game settings (details down, etc.)

    Hey,.

If your laptop is overheating, you should try to clean using compressed air stream. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans that blocks the air. It only takes a few minutes to clean and it s not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

Just blow air gently and shortly into the holes of the case to blow off the dust.
Before that, shut down the laptop and remove the battery and the AC adapter.

    Hello
I assume that my L550 main fan does not run correctly.
For example, I want to play a game of detail with DX10, every thing works perfectly without lag, but after 1 to 5 minutes, the system becomes slower and slower until the game crashes to the desktop.

I had the same problems with similar games and even compared to the indicators.

So my question is: is there a unoffical BIOS update that will support fan control options? I already have the latest version of the BIOS, but it's not. Or is there still a software that works very well with L550?

    Best regards, Amir.

    Hello

Just a question: what display driver you are using?
As far as I know your laptop is equipped with ATI HD4650 graphics card and therefore, you need to download the latest driver on Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Also what operating system are you using? It is the preinstalled operating system from Toshiba?

If you use Windows Vista, you can change the cooling method in Vista Power Management. Set the cooling option and try again.
    It work?

  • Satellite P100: BSOD nv4_disp infinite loop playing a game

    Hello

I hope you can see my details of my profiling system, but in case you can't, here are the basic details:

    Satellite P100-113; 2x2.0GHz; 2 GB of memory; XP Pro SP3. Go 7600 256 MB - factory core/mem speed 350 / 400 MHz - no overclocking.
Out of warranty: purchased as a plant-reclamation in 2006. No problem at all until this - great machine!

I tried for 2 weeks to resolve the formidable 'in nv4_disp infinite loop' blue screen of the problem of death, which occurs when playing company of Heroes Opposing Fronts (COHOF). Original COH has always run without any problem.

I think I tracked down what is happening. Using RivaTuner, I took a log of data GPU, both in the general use of Windows and by practicing a COHOF game. I had just downloaded a "fix" claimed this infinite loop problem; referenced in the nvidia forum.
I think it was the only reason that the game did not plant this time, so that I could look at the newspaper. But this has not yet resolved the problem.

What is clear, according to the journal of Riva, it's the GPU speeds are usually 0/0 on Windows. Then, every few minutes, he crawls up to something like 198/135, for only 10-20 seconds and then again. This, in my opinion, has always happened, because it is accompanied by a rapid acceleration of the fan and a "sigh" to air for a few seconds. The machine has always done since I bought it, and it is not a problem in normal conditions (i.e. not game) use.

But here'w what happened in the game. After playing about 30 minutes (I noted earlier), the game suddenly stuttered horribly, so I thought it might be breaking. FPS increased from typical of 30-40 something like 0.5 to 2 FPS. And this continued for another 15 minutes (I went to play, with gritted teeth, in order to obtain good log data).

Looking at the newspaper of Riva, what happened at that time was one of these speed GPU rampdowns: down 351/398 expected 198/198 - just for about 15 seconds, then go back to the top to 351/398. Given that the "infinite loop" error includes a description "device driver entered an infinite loop waiting for the material to answer", I am fairly certain that it is the cause of the infinite loop BSOD: If the GPU suddenly decides to run at reduced speed in half, under heavy load (COHOF has often been described as the ultimate stress-test system) , you expect this kind of error occurs. I suspect that this is the point to which I would have had a crash "infinite loop" - but perhaps the 'fix', I downloaded caught the ball and prevented the usual total crash.

Temperature: absolutely perfect. I use a Zalman cooler under the machine. Riva reports temperatures GPU 51 c (idle), maxing out at a constant C 66-68 without crampons (load, COHOF). So, my driver unless (I tried 84.4 - later, Toshiba or 91.33, 156.13, 164 something laptopvideo2go.com) is a misinterpretation of the temperature data and imagine that the card needs to be rested (because the driver thinks, it's hitting the ceiling of 115 HP.), is not an overheating problem.

The fact that go up and down this rise has always happen, even with the original drivers installed at the factory from Toshiba (the regular intermittent fan 'sighs') makes me think that this is part of Toshiba design for integration of the Go 7600 in this machine. Perhaps something of the power management, or to extend the life of the chip. (I have all the settings of power-mgmt software I can find the value "grass of the battery, give me performance", since I usually use the machine plugged).

Now, it of very well under Windows, does not cause problems. But he won't. The GPU is ramping down, without apparent reason, while COHOF is throwing a huge workload on it.

    Issues related to the:
    1. How can I disable this behavior ramp - at least temporarily to play COHOF? I've never heard of a GPU accelerates its speed goes up and down depending on the load, so I doubt it's problem of nVidia.
    2. can I get an updated driver for this machine? The most recent is 84.4.0. Of course, it is possible to download drivers from laptopvideo2go.com modded-, but I suspect that these pilots to leave out some specific Toshiba 'magical' that manages the specific details of this card in this machine. (p. ex. or SpeedFan and Riva can detect any fans in my system, which suggests that Toshiba took control of the fan "under the hood" somehow).
    3. where can I get an update BIOS/firmware for the Go 7600? You can find anything on the net, apart from that!

Looks like I need to take this with a hardcore of Toshiba tech (I don't know if Toshiba supports log on this forum); But if someone reads this and has a time "click - I know that this", please post some ideas as to what I can do.

    Hey Buddy

It seems that this Toshiba forum is only a user forum, and it seems there are only Toshiba users here and not technicians.

In any case if I understand you problem described in your long ad, the graphic issue appears only this specific game (company of Heroes Opposing Fronts).

In my opinion, the graphics driver is not fully compatible with this game or your game does not support the nVidia Driver
So it s not a problem with the laptops hardware, but compatibility issues between the two parties game<->graphics driver software

I think a graphics driver update (if available) might help.

Here are my responses regarding the points:

    (1) as I said above, I think that the graphics driver update might help to
    (2) according to my experience, all the latest drivers graphics (and other drivers) are published on the Toshiba driver website
    (3) you can find only a Toshiba BIOS on the Toshiba driver page. BIOS or firmware update graphic card is unknown to me and to be honest I don t think it would exist.

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A100 becomes warm while playing a game

I had a problem for some time with the Satellite Pro A100 when I play games.

I'm glitchy spells during the game, sometimes with the fan runs much and the laptop is very hot.

Is there something I can do?

    Hello

As you've probably experienced peripheral internally as CPU and GPU have to work with the best performance all in game. This leads to higher heat dissipation.
If fans and the internal vents are clogged then the CPU and the GPU may not be cooled properly and may lead to overheating

What can you do? You can ensure that your vents are free of dust and debris, and that air can circulate properly.
I would recommend so clean the fans with a jet of compressed air. These aerosols can be ordered from dealers different computer/laptop.

In addition, don t use the laptop in the bet, couch or on the knees because the cooling fans would be stuck and this would lead to a higher temperature.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300/A300D blocks when I play the game

Hello from Croatia and I'm sorry if spelling has some errors

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300/A300D
    Here are its features:
    Processor:
    Turion (tm) X 2 AMD Dual - Core Mobile RM-74 (2 CPUs), ~ 2.2 GHz
    Video card:
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics card
    Operating system:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100226 - 1909)

When I bought the laptop I had Windows Vista 32-bit, after I put Windows 7 32-bit

After a while the games have begun to block, even the call of duty 2, I play 5 minutes, and then after 5 minutes to block the departure of about 5-6 seconds and then is good and if all the minutes. I don't know what to do and ask for help

    Thank you

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. I imagine that some background processes are active and the HARD disk must be busy then you will see that the game crashes or stutters.

It may be an antivirus application that scans the HARD drive or something similar.
Have you tried to unplug the laptop from the LAN/WLAN, close all the race but not need process/applications and switch to high performance power plan before you start your game?

Please play with all this stuff. I mean that Win7 works better on these books like Vista so I think it must be a software related issue somehow.

  • Satellite L855 - 11 p - random play stops

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L855 - 11 p, which is less than a year. When you try to play a game on it (Borderlands 2, a game for which the laptop apparently meets the minimum requirements), it will play very well for a while (~ an hour or two), and then without any warning, the screen will turn black and the laptop turns off. The power button does nothing for a couple of minutes and after that the power button works and it will start again.

Initially, he would play other, less demanding games like Left 4 Dead 2 fine, but recently it has begun to worsen, restart more often and on the games with the decline in spending. I'm pretty confused as to what is the cause, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

I think that its a problem with the temperature.
Play games that require a material very high performance insists a lot parts hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM).
This leads to higher heat dissipation and this leads to the highest temperature level.

I think that this could be the reason for stopping at random and accidental loss of downs.
The unit will stop automatically to prevent the pieces of equipment against damage

How to prevent this? Hmm... good question usually you must make sure that laptop can be cooled properly. There should be enough free space around the unit and the air must circulate properly.
Graphics card driver should use Toshiba page. This driver is designed for mobile use, in addition, make sure that the fans are not clogged with dust. Dust inside the unit can affect the performance of fans and supporters slow cause high temperature.

  • Guard Satellite Pro stopping suddenly.

My laptop is suddenly stop - and do not restart.
"It happens esp if I try to do a scan Mcafee - when it comes down to a ' 1386 file" on the C: drive it stops! (but it also stopped at another time).
I've defragmented it and cleaned up the cookies etc. It is about 50% left on hard drive and even if 4 years old and a little slow sound otherwise was a good laptop Satellite Pro.

Any ideas? Ah its driving me crazy!

Stopping suddenly may also be due to overheating. Usually when he runs some CPU or graphics intensive application, the material can get the critical temperature level and simply turns off.

I'm sure that after some time you can start your laptop. He is old enough laptop model and it's time for cleaning. I really can't say if this has something to do with the preinstalled stuff.

  • Satellite P20 S203 stops suddenly

    Hello

In the last month my Satellite P20 S203 does so well, and unfortunately it seems that the problem is a hardware one (but I'm not sure, and that's why I'm writing here)

The computer just stops suddenly (it happened 2 or 3 times in the last 30 days); every time it happened I was on the web on Firefox, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it, and I'm also 99% sure that this is not a virus, malware or something like that, cause I formatted there are 3 months and nothing else behave in a strange way, the computer is slow or something like that.

The last two options are that the question can be of a physical nature, or a software (as a conflict between the operating system and installed programs); I'm more to the first, but I do not know and I need assistance to find out... What should I do?

In addition, when it stops suddenly, it won't turn with the first try.
He needs like 10 or 20 times to open like an old car that won't start; the first, say, 5 times I try to turn it on, it appears only the toshiba logo.
It then passes through a screen, I can not read because it goes too fast.

Then a black screen, then it turns off again.
With the next try that it goes a bit further, as it displays the windows logo, but as this image is fading, it stops halfway through the fading process, resulting in a darker windows logo, as it is too difficult for her to load the OS!

But then it turns off again!

Then after a few other attempts it finally loads windows.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

    OS: Windows XP SP2

    Hello

Maybe the laptop stops due to a higher internal temperature.
High temperature leads to an overheating of the questions and the laptop would be stops down automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.
The other point is that the high temperature may affect the RAM modules.
In this case the laptop computer may freeze or you will receive a Blue Screen Of Death.

I had a similar problem in the past. About 6 years ago my first oldie started to overheat.
I cleaned the cooling modules, but the questions again.
Finally, I contacted the laptop technician in downtown, and he said that the thermal grease that is placed between the cooling module and the CPU must be renewed.

    He did, and it helped!

  • The heat of my computer a lot and it suddenly stops when Im playing certain games.

My computer get too hot and it suddenly stops when Im playing certain games. Can you give me any advice to solve this problem. (I would like to format the pc and put it as the 1st time using, but I accept more tips) I have a cooler, but I think I'll buy a new one.

Original title: heat of the computer

    EPPT

With the computer turned off and not plugged in you should carefully blow out the fan and radiator.  Laptops are not suitable for playing games in the first place.  If the cooling block does not help and the computer is more than a year, you may need to reapply the thermal CPU paste or frankly just not playing games with her.

  • Freeze on Satellite L855 - 11K

    Hello

I have a Satellite L855 - 11 k (PSKACE). The problem I have with the laptop is the continuous gap.

    Explain the examples:

A game that does not demand a lot of features, CS (counter strike 1.6 network) I can not play, because I play + 70 fps and suddenly when we turn the camera or move in one area, the fps drops to 0 and blow less than 1 s up to 70 frames per second. No internet problem, the same thing happens in offline mode.

Another example are the videos, like youtube for example, a video of 480 p to my laptop I need to move smoothly, but must then image frozen (the audio continues to play) and I can't see anything. After 1-2 seconds veulve himself. But it's very annoying. (The same thing happens to 320p, 720 p or 1080 p). With vlc, nothing on this, but as I see the video I can't do anything more.

I also noticed that with any program when you save a document, photo,..., it is more expensive than a laptop with less energy.

Additional information: I have windows 8 x 64 (with windows 7 x 64 is the same), and I added a 4 GB module, so I have 8 GB (1600 MHz) ram. All drivers download from the toshiba website [http://www.toshiba.es/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=ES]. I also noticed that when I copy something to port hard drive VIA USB 3.0 for a short period of 4-7 s high-speed 40MB / s, but falls to 1-3 MB / s.

And finally, in the windows Device Manager, I see the Blast graphic processor (intel grafics 3000HD) (seen intalled readers of the toshiba website).

Finally, I tried all modes of windows, balanced, economy, powerful... and activation and deactivation of the refrigeration system strategy.

I can serult all this time lag and freeze?

PS: I also noticed that the laptop FAN 30% does not increase, even if the pc is at 90 ° +!.

    Hello

The laptop supports the AMD Radeon HD M 7670.
Therefore, the hardware specifications are good enough to play games smoothly or watch videos full HD.

In your case I recommend that you check the version of the BIOS. Maybe there is a new version of BIOS that needs an update more trying to update ATI graphics card driver

Also I recommend that you check the HARD drive for a possible malfunction.
The freeware tool called disk HARD drive fitness test could be useful, this software allows you to test the HARD drive

Otherwise I have no other explanation for the quoted question... it's possible and hardware or software related issue.

I tried to update the drivers, uninstall and then reinstall, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone know what's going on, or have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    You are 100% it's a matter of Windows 10?
Looks more like a hardware problem, keyboard should replace.

Go into the BIOS and test the keyboard in there.
If it goes into the BIOS and then replace the keyboard.

If it's a software problem, try uninstalling the driver for the touchpad Control Panel, then reinstall it via Windows Update.
