  Its been 10 days since I brought my Satellite C660 - series laptop.

  Fn + F6 or Fn + F7 keys for brightness control do not work. I see no change in brightness. There is no information or indication of the setting shown on the display.

  Can anyone suggest an alternative to set the brightness of the screen?

  Other keys FN + Fx work correctly?

  After research with M30-241 and finding nothing, I'm trying this way. My laptop is 2.5 years has been repaired once because of the white screen and now it is doing it again. When a game like snooker 2003 blocks the screen you can hear the sound goes and then the screen starts to become clear until it is completely white.

  I have to press the power bit and shut down the system, but it only happens in game. Word, excel, PowerPoint, films without problem.

  I have a similar problem. Last night I was copying something of a CD-ROM on the computer and plugged my USB Hub at the same time. All of a sudden the screen frooze and the lines began to appear. I could move the mouse, but nothing else moved. When I restarted the computer, the Toshibe screen which comes first place had vertical lines and the black screen dirtied by all kinds of ASCII symbols (Smileys, @, arrows, etc.) I tried to install the new drivers, but to no avail. The CD player has also stop working, and every time I put a CD in the it just starts turning and I won't be able to do anything until I take it back. To check if it's a screen or an error of graphics card, I connected my desktop screen in the VGA connection, and the screen looks just like on the LCD: lot of verticals.
  The Toshiba Diagnostics tool gives me a "failure" for the graphics card but not solution.

  This could be anything other than a graphic map of shooting, and if so, what should I do about this on a ' SM30-841 "? I was told that "you can not replace cards on laptops", so I have to get a new Mobo I guess, because this thing is four years old.

  To mention only about something else, about two years ago this computer had a problem of hard disk and the motherboard has been replaced.   Ive had a problem with the display on my satellite M30. I can start in fine etc windows but colorful lines going up and down my screen, as well as the general artifacts. I cant even install drivers nvidia without a blue screen.

  The strange thing is that if I apply pressure to the left side of my touchpad, I install the drivers and all is well! Release the pressure and the computer crashes. Ive opened the laptop and can't find anything that could be the cause.

• How to use the external screen with my Satellite M30?

  Hi guys, I have the following problem:

  I have a portable Satellite M30-642 former. My keyboard it is completely broken (spilled something on it) so I use an external USB keyboard.

  Now that I bought a TFT I wanted to use it as a primary device, so I need to take the laptop to the external output.
  The laptop itself recognizes as a secondary screen already, but this isn't what I want.
  Problem is I can't switch from the display without the FN key devices!

  I tried to search the net and this forum - but the solution posted does not work for the M30. There is no option in the utility of HW and not in the BIOS to enable the external keyboard support.
  Please is there any other combination of keys that would work or a software utility that allows me to turn on? It's a really bad situation for me :(

  Please don't be crazy on me but I write here very often and somehow try to help, but I'm still irritated if someone thinks that anything is possible. Unfortunately, you have to accept that sometimes there is hardware limitation and there is nothing to do.
  I want to talk about primary and secondary monitor.

  On most laptops, the LCD is always set as primary and cannot be changed. So, as far as I know, without using the FN + F5 key combination you extend the desktop to external display and use both of them. Using display settings you should be able to switch to an external display only (display control panel settings NVIDIA advance settings and so on). Please test only because I don't have M30, but the principle is used the same.

  If you will be able to use external display only try to restart your laptop and see on which screen the office will be shown. If you will be lucky and office will be shown on the external display, try to extend the desktop to second monitor (laptop LCD).

  For me it also looks like a GPU malfunction... what you is to connect the external monitor to the laptop. If the same strange signs, characters will be visible on the second screen while the GPU is defective...

  I own a U840-10V laptop and I have a little problem with my screen brightness from the first day I got it.
  The fn keys work correctly. When I press the button Fn + F2 or F3 I see small panel brightness adjustment, but values 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 (except 4) seem to have the same level of brightness (the 4th is darker).
