Satellite M40-237: Question about Express card slot

My computer has a multiple media card on the side of my computer doing. On the left side, I have PC card and Express card slot location. I know how to use the multimedia card slot and pc. bBut card slot I have a problem with my Ekpress because I do not know how to open the slot...

I hope that you will help me...

Hello

As you suggested on the left side of the laptop, you can find a PC card slot. This property sleeps on PC card (Type II 16 and 32-bit)
Above this slot machine, you will find slot express card which allows you to install as additional express card.
To install an Express card please
1. Insert the Express card,
2. press gently on a closed connection,.
3 check the configuration in the window settings HW to make sure it's appropriate for you the card.

This description you will find also in the Manual - Chapter 8
Check it out.

  • Satellite L305-S5920: Question about PC card, new use HDD & Win XP

I recently bought this machine in the mail and on arrival was disappointed to see that it is not equipped with a Firewire plug - I thought that all the machines which had today? Too bad, I thought I'd use my PCMCIA Firewire card. But then I found that what looks like a standard PCMCIA socket has a block to halfway down on one side which prevents a normal PCMCIA card being inserted. Snookered. What is this decision? Not one of my PC cards will go in.

I then tried, had always been my intention to replace the 160 gb HD with a new 500 GB it and install XP on it. It's a very long story, but it culminates at Toshiba telling me that "this model will not work XP. Someone at - it ideas how to get around this problem?

Either way, I don't seem to have all the means to re-establish a new HD Vista if/when this one fails. Am I expected to go out and buy, or I missed something? There is no "recovery partition" on the hard drive so there is no way that I can produce my own recovery disk.

I then tried to play a DVD, to be told that it was the wrong region and could not be played. Quite absurd to place this restriction on laptops - I live in two Americas and Britain - but once again so much worse, I'll just load AnyDVD and continue nevertheless. But no - the carpet * a drive mounted by Toshiba is one of the few that cannot be decrypted.

Therefore this machine, which works well in its own design constraints, is nowhere near what I wanted and expected it to be. Can someone suggest a solution to all of the above questions? Because I already ordered a different brand which according to me does not have these limits, but it would be useful to keep this as a spare if I can fix it.

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that there is some design flaws
Akuma has already said, there are devices that supports different standards.

In any case, for the first I recommend that you check this Toshiba page we:

    [Satellite L305-S5920 - details-| http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2241928& rpn = PSLB8U & modelFilter = L305-S5920 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663]

You will find here all the details on this model Sat L305
In the detailed specifications, you can find the info that this laptop uses the Express Card slot (ExpressCard/34 and ExpressCard/54). You must use Express cards instead of PCMCIA cards!

You can also install the Win XP I n know not why, someone said that you can not do this strange however, you can install the Win XP and I found XP drivers too! Please visit US!

The recovery of HARD drive partition is placed on European models of Toshiba. I put t know how it works on Toshiba WE series (perhaps drive HARD recovery is not available on laptops in the United States), but perhaps you need to create the first recovery disk in order to recover the laptop to factory settings.

  • Satellite L350 - how to use the express card slot?

Can someone tell me about the L350 what means the express card slot?

Only, I'm used to having the SD and memory stick cards.
Is there an express card to use with this or can get you an adapter for other cards?

    Thank you smokeyb

    Hello

You should look in the user manual. You will find lots of information about the batch of express cards.

The express card slot allows you to install ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 to extend functionality.
For example, the external WiFi cards, USB cards, etc. use this slot machine.

  • Re: Map Satellite M60-104 PCI Slot or Express Card Slot?

    Hello
I'm confused about what type of adapter should I buy for my expansion slot, on the button, it says that my laptop have card PCI II type: type: express card slot.

So far what I've read, it's the type of card PCI II differ from Express card. I just need to know what my machine supports, a card 54mm or 34 mm card, 16-bit or 32-bit, I don't know, I need to buy an adapter for esata interface to connect my NAS via esata to my laptop for more speed.

Can someone enlighten me on this point, please?
    concerning
    Praveen

Did you look in the user manual?
There are details on the M60 Series.

But AFAIK the M60-104 unit supports the Cardbus 32-bit/PC-Card 16-Bit interface.
For example, you can use 1 x PCMCIA Type II only and 1 x ExpressCard.

  • Satellite R630-155 - no express card slot

    Hello

I have a R630 155 and I have a PC card / Express card slot as far as I know. Toshiba manual shows that it would be just below the optical drive [cd] on the right side of the laptop, but I do not have such a slot. Anyone know if it is possible to run a 'real' serial port using the usb ports. I have hardware installed on the field that requires a real serial port and will not work with normal cable converter usb to serial port that can be purchased. I have an another Toshiba that I use the pc card slot and I did not notice that the new laptop does not seem to have this facility. Maybe someone can help / advise?

    Best regards, peter jones.

    Hi Peter,.

Ist point R630 hat not all models are equipped with a PC card and express card slot. As you can read in the manual that only some models are fitted with this slot machine.

On Amazon and other online shopping, I found a few USB-adapters series so I think that this should be the correct part for you but I n t understand what you mean with real serial port.

In your case I would just test it and if it doesn't work, you can send it back ;)

In the features of the Toshiba L505 - 10 p, an Express card slot is mentioned. I feel a little stupid for asking this, but where is this slot machine? I see something that looks like this above the entrance to Esata, but it is closed. How to open the slot?

  • Express card slot new dv7

I am awaiting delivery of a new dv7. My old laptop (old and still under Windows 98) had a PCMCIA slot I have a couple of cards for. My question is quite simple, the old PCMCIA cards will fall into the new Express card slot?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

No, I'm sorry to say that they will not. Although most of the features that people used to use pcmcia cards is attended the computers internal laptop is still a rude awakening for a lot of people when they can use the old card mobile broadband on this new laptop and they must spend more money to get a usb or expresscard version.

  • Satellite M40-237: CD Boot does not not + is possible startup USB key drive

    * Model: Satellite M40-237 (PSM40E) *.

I decided to reinstall windows, my hard drive is now formatted. So as usual, boot from the Windows CD is necessary to start the instalation but it does not start. I never had problems like this, always worked boot. It's as if there is no bootable CD in the drive (but it is bootable and it works on another PC).

-J' have the latest version of the BIOS
-The BIOS detects the optical drive and everything is ok, HARD is the ODD main drive is secondary
-J' tried selecting the boot priority, with F12 and/or the BIOS setting but it works anyway

What could be the problem here? Drive does not properly (hopefully, that and not something worse)? I had some problems with the drive I have (...) before, but it reads the disc normally and as I said start was working fine before. I cleaned the lens a bit, disconnected it and it put. Is there something more, what can I do?

I'll try to find someone who has the player that fits so I can try with that one, but who knows when is what will be.

Now, here's the second question, which I've linked to this. Because my laptop is practically useless now (I can't install anything), is it possible to boot from a:
    (a) optical drive USB external
    (b) USB flash drive

BIOS on this laptop has no USB boot option, it has HARD drive / CD / floppy / network. But I red somewhere this FDD = USB legacy emulation is enabled.

If that is correct, I should just plug in the USB key and select FDD as boot option? If I can't find a USB optical drive, I thought make it bootable USB flash drive and copy the installation of windows xp on it. So once it starts in DOS I start just the installer from the key.

    TNX

First I must say that the initialization of memory flash USB (USB key) is not possible and you shouldn't t waste time to try this.

With regard to your reader of CD/DVD boot problem
Well, it s really strange, it sounds a bit like a sort of master/slave/c-salt settings problem. But generally, you should get an error IDE (#0 or #1) if one of the devices (ODD or HARD disk) would not be recognized?  :|
    This whole thing seems mysteriously
There may be a firmware issue

Several months ago a friend of mine was not able to boot from the CD.
He went into the BIOS and set the BIOS default settings.

Can help guide me how to install vista on satellite m40-237?
It hangs at the starting phase.

Vista compatibility tool has shown this compatible machine to install vista.

    Hello

Satellite M40 is about two years old and this laptop is not taken in charge of Vista. I guess this hood must be new BIOS for Vista installation. Unfortunately will not create new Toshiba Vista supported BIOS and all drivers for this model of laptop. :(

Computers laptops capable only Vista will be supported as far as I know.

  • Express card slot models?

I'm hoping to buy a ThinkPad notebook (to replace a previous ThinkPad), but one of my requirements is a Firewire port or an Express Card slot.

So far I can only find an option Express Card in the current range of W.

Is it really the case that no other models have an Express Card slot (or an option for one)?

(Sorry to post this question here but I don't know where else to post it.)

I now noticed one or two other models have a slot for express as a value card by default (although none appear to have a Firewire port). So please ignore my previous post.
