Satellite P10 304 BIOS does not detect HARD and CDROM drive

My HDD p10-304 has recently failed.
I bought a new 60 GB western digital 2.5 drive "and installed today.

At startup, the BIOS does not detect the drive, but also, it does not detect the CD-ROM drive.
This makes me think that maybe it's not the player after all, maybe the onboard IDE / motherboard.

I'm kinda stuck, so it's a new drive should work fine, and I have no way to test the motherboard.

The only difference is that the insulation on the original drive sleeve should be reduced by half.
The bit important (low, where the circuits would otherwise affect metal) is always there, it is the
Few albums I had to remove but that should be no problem.

Someone at - it suggestions?

Thank you, Stu.

Hello

What happens if the HARD drive is not connected to the motherboard? The BIOS recognize the CD/DVD drive correctly?

You bought the HARD drive compatible? To my knowledge the Mobile supports a HARD drive with interface IDE (ATA-5) increased.

But as you said possibly the motherboard failures and he would be advised to contact the technician during a particular test

  • 15 - f039wm: BIOS does not detect hard drives until it performs a diagnostic search

I was handed a 15-f039wm laptop to watch and I recognized immediately the hard drive was bad, complete failure - no detection and would not pass the built-in diagnostics. I have removed the drive from the laptop and confirmed that the car was bad on a separate system. I ordered a new drive, went with an SSD and put the new drive of the laptop. I checked the cable was sitting correctly on both ends and for good measure he reinstalled on the motherboard as well as on the drive itself.

Then I tried to re - install Windows 8.1 with the laptop provided with Bing, but when it came time to select the hard disk in the Windows Installer screen, no disks have been detected. I tried to load the drivers for the drive recognized, but nothing has worked. I then tried to start other diskettes of Windows (7 & 10) and the same problem arose, no drive detected. For fun, I loaded Hiren's Boot Disk and tried to see what I could do, and oddly enough the drive detected several times.

Then, I decided to go back to the integrated diagnostic tools (F2 at startup) and see what would happen. Hard drive has been detected and passed the Quick Test. I have a Windows install CD in and after that I left the screen he ended up launching the installation disc. I decided to try just a new set of drivers to see if the disc could be detected, but that the disc was already detected and just sitting there, ready for the installation of the software.

I have installed 8.1 on it and did the upgrade of Windows 10 to the owner and I noticed something serious.  Whenever I restarted (key here being a full reboot), the drive was not detected and I would get an error in DEVICE of START-UP INACCESSIBLE when he tried to load Windows. I ended up to play with the drive and launch the troubleshooting menus command prompt.

I tried to run diskpart, and when I typed "list disk" inside diskpart and he told me that there are no drives found. Large.

I took once more apart from the laptop and reinstall the drive again and the same problem happens again. This is where it gets a little weird. I ran Diagnostics on the hard drive again and just canceled check out out and Quick Test and let it boot. It starts very well.

I thought so at this stage it is a bug in the BIOS or something and decided to flash F.25 Rev.A to see if that would help. No, the problem persists after BIOS update flash. I decided to just go ahead and order a new cable to see if the cable is the issue. Is there anything else I can try? Anyone have this problem, it is rather strange to me, and I saw a lot of machines to act strangely.

    So, to summarize:

Hard drive is not detected at least that I force diagnostic analysis of any type on the hard drive and come out and let it boot.

    What I tried:

    New hard drive

    Reconnect the hard drive

BIOS settings - boot order, security keys allowed Secure Boot on / off, Legacy Boot on / off, (there no option of detection or ahci in the BIOS).

Many windows install environments, non-windows - disk environments is ever detected by the BIOS, I guess

    Flashed the BIOS updated

Reinstall Windows (back to 8.1 with Bing and question persists, persists on Windows 10 institutions)

DiskPart on Windows Installer (shift + f10 - prompt "diskpart" command, then in diskpart: 'list disk' which wouldn't say no disk).

Ordered a new cable (pending on this one)

What gets me, is that it works whenever I have diagnostic scan before starting. Every time. It fails on a restart cold without doing so. I looked on the Board for the damage of physical strength and the liquid, but do not see anything to really. I'm guessing that it was abandoned. Any ideas on what else to try? I'm running out of ideas on this one.

Try the new cable, but I think you look a very bad mother board it.

  • Tecra S1 - Bios does not detect HARD drive

Hi, first time poster, long drive date.

I have a friends laptop with me an old S1, its hard drive has failed. (Even tried it on my USB adapter to diagnose).

I had another IDE HDD which works like a dream.
I can even install Windows up to a point with the exception of when the computer wants to do the first restart of the second phase of the installation. (Not on CD).

In the bios the HARD drive is not detected a 0 MB for the read command.
I tested the USB HARD drive. So works perfectly. will try another hard drive there tomorrow see what is happening.

I tried the recovery CD aswell. But she also can not detect the hard drive.
Finally, I even reflashed the Bios even if it was the last version 2.50.
    Still did not change.

If I'm just at a loss here. Tomorrow I'll do the following.

Try a 3rd HDD IDE into the machine.

Opening of the case and see if I can find the CMOS battery to replace or remove for a minute or 2 to see what is happening.
Is obviously a problem of bios of the HARD drive is detected. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

Windows / ERD Commander / Partition Magic 8 all finding the end hard drive.
Thanks for listening to my dribble that I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall being close.

    Kind regards

    Dave

What drive did you use and what size it it?
I think that not all HARD drive would be compatible because of the 28-bit LBA.

The 28-bit LBA supports hard disks up to 128GB and if the IDE controller supports only 28-bit LBA then it may happen that more large drives would not be recognized by the BIOS.

  • Satellite P10-304: USB does not work after the upgrade to XP Pro

You just bought a satellite SP10-304. Beautiful machine, but comes with XP Home edition. I've updated to XP Professional but seems to have lost the USB Ports. Device Manager indicates that they are working, but plug 'all' USB devices produces no reaction/recognition.

Any ideas, please? What I put in the recovery disc and go back to XP Home?

    Thank you

Have you installed Microsoft all MS on this unit?
I recommend that you install all updates.

Win XP Home uses the same drivers as WinXP. In this case, everything should work without any problems.

  • Equium A80 - BIOS does not detect new CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I had to change a DVD player in my laptop Equium A80 earlier and now have problems using the restore DVD to my laptop to factory settings. I updated the BIOS with the latest version available, but the BIOS is still not able to see the DVD player, so does not start a restore. The DVD is fine once Windows has loaded and works very well on another PC under BIOS. I tried another DVD drive on the laptop, but he is unable to see anyone.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can try?

    Thank you!

    Hi mate,

First of all the CD/DVD drive must be recognized in the BIOS that you can boot from the CD/DVD drive. Otherwise it of not possible to boot from the Toshiba recovery disc.

What is the type of the old/new CD/DVD drive?

The user manual contains a list of compatible drives. It appears here? The fact is that not all drives are compatible with all laptops.

  • Satego x 200-BIOS does not detect SSD but windows 7 for OS usage

need help here, I got the latest bios 2.50 and my bios does not detect the SSD but an I start windows 7 from my hard drive it is detected and I want to use the ssd as boot drive, please help

    Hello

Which SSD drive you have exactly?
I also think it s a compatibility problem between the HARD disk controller (motherboard) and the current SSD drive.

So you should check if you have the latest firmware of the SSD drive and if it of possible, try another disc SSD of a friend, for example.

By the way: have you tried to load the default settings in the BIOS?

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

I have a Satellite A30 (PSA30E) and I start the computer. When I enter the BIOS it does not recognize the hard drive.
Does anyone no what I can do?
Is it possible to restore the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

You replaced the HARD drive by a new one or the BIOS don't recognize the old HDD?

Usually if the laptop is not able to start and that the BIOS does not see the old HDD then I guess that the HARD drive is faulty.
If the BIOS doesn't recognize the inserted new HARD drive and then either you ve bought is not compatible, or the size of the HARD drive is just too big.

Please provide more info. You see error messages?

  • Satellite A210-19Z - BIOS does not find my HARD disk

My HARD drive crashed so I bought a new and now my BIOS can not find it, and when I try to install XP, it says that it cannot find any hard disk.
What should do? The new HARD drive is a Samsung SATA 2.5 "artno:HM121HI...

Please help me... I'm going crazy...

    Thank you!

    Hello

The BIOS should recognize the new HARD disc without any installed SATA drivers!
The SATA drivers are needed only for Windows OS!

Please check the position of the jumper on the HARD drive. Usually, these riders are avaialbel for 3.5 HARD disk but some 2.5 drives hard also supports a rider where the master/slave/c-salt settings could be changed

    Welcome them

My laptop does not detect the hard drive. I press F2 to go into BIOS and it says hardrive No. I reinstalled the hard drive, but it still says the same thing. I have test the SATA hard drive on the desktop and it detects its.

What seems to be wrong? Help, please.

    > I have test the SATA hard drive on the desktop and it detects its.
This looks like your HARD disk on the motherboard controller is faulty
But before that you exchange the motherboard but I would test another HARD drive maybe the HARD drive is faulty and will recognize only on certain computers or mothers.

If a new drive HARD doesn t work too, your motherboard needs to be replaced.

    Hello

One of my friends has the same unit on the work and everything works perfectly. It uses the USB hub too and have many external devices connected to the unit.

By the way: something like who can occur if the external device is not removed correctly use safely remove hardware option. If you try to connect any other device after that in most cases it is not recognized at all. In this case, you can restart the device or remove ports from the Device Manager and use the hardware detection to find them again.
