Satellite P10-831 wireless card

Hello!
I bought my Satellite P10 831, a year and I was very happy about it. But then I tried to use my wireless card (it is an Atheros I believe)...
The problem is that my computer can't even find the card. In the unit where everything is listed there is no wireless network card. If I try to install the driver on the CD from Toshiba says:
NG - driver was NOT updated!
(INF file may be incorrect or invalid)
Failed installation
Please help me!

Hello bene

As far as I know Satellite P10 831 is just ready WLAN. This means that WLAN antenna is there, but you have to buy and built in wireless network card. If the card is not listed in Device Manager that it certainly isn't here.

If you want to check Toshiba page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com. Under the heading Products > Option & Accessories > Communications you will find a list with all wireless network cards. Check if some of them is compatible with your model of laptop.

If you need more help please write again.

Good luck!

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P10-304.
I would like to add a mini PCI Wireless.
Can someone tell me one would suit this machine.

    Thank you

Do you see black and white antennas near the Mini PCI Slot?

If this isn't the case, then you can not install a Wifi card. He won't get any reception. You get a USB Wifi instead.

If you have the antenna, Intel 802.11bg card (2200BG) should work. http://www.Intel.com/support/wireless/WLAN/pro2200bg/

Its a good idea to buy the card from Toshiba (via an ASP) since the Wifi card can be modified to work correctly in the P10.
If you buy a generic MiniPCI Wifi card, he can switch Wifi does not work properly.

Have you installed Toshiba Value added Package?

See this thread where I make various suggestions and tips:

Probably the best thing to do is to buy a USB Wireless Lan.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer PA3070U-1MPC wireless operating with Windows 2000 card

The wireless client Manager detects the network from my wireless router and the signal is excellent and I see all the Green swhowing bars.

But I can't mske a connection in 'connections' wireless says "network cable is disconnected.

the router works well with other laptops in my house.

I have the latest version of Win2K also downloaded and installed the latest versions of client manager and WLAN driver for win2k to the toshiba Web site.

'Support of toshiba in Turkey' told me ' I need another driver for Win2K for my driver wireless card cause win2K on the toshiba site isn't for "thie" wireless card ". I have been waiting for this for 3 weeks now and couldn't join the UK level 3 elusive support who supposed to have this driver. I saw on the internet is the same wireless card was sold as an accessory "made by toshiba" and he said that it is compatible with Wim2K

What I then please? It works with Win2K, is it "another driver" and so on?

    Thank you

    Hello

I don t think that there is something wrong with the driver because you can receive signals from router (green bars). If the driver WLan would be a mistake if wouldn t receive all signals.
Please check device manager. If the wireless card is recognized if you are using the correct driver and the driver has been installed correctly.
    Please see this page:
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/all/-TSB000705.htm

In my view, the message "network cable is disconnected" appears because your (NOT wireless) LAN cable is not connected. This post has nothing to do with the question of Wlan.
You should check your WLan settings again.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - wireless card does not work under Ubuntu

    Hi all,

I want to know what is the model of my wireless card. I need to know because I need the driver of windows for Ubuntu. I see on the internet for the L300 series, we have a lot of wireless card... I want to know what is the card of my pc.

Thanks a lot and best regards

LOL: D you're funny type. Please don t do it harder they are.

There are many opportunities to find out what card WLan has been inserted.

The easiest way is to check the bottom of the unit.
There are a lot of different labels and on one of the labels you should see a WLan card model or part number.
Take this number it in the google search and google for this field.

Hello: I seem to be unable to make my internal wireless card works on this model. After reading a few reviews, I don't know yet if my model has a wireless card, although I said it does and reading manuals and by simply observing the laptop, it seems that Yes.

  • Qustion for satellite Pro M30 wireless card

    Hello

I have laptop has Intel 2100. Use an Intel 2200 card bought on the open market would work, or should I buy the Toshiba one?

    Thanks and greetings

    George

    Hello

In my opinion, you can buy the wireless card where you want, but the cards that you can order on the Toshiba site are tested and it should work without problem. As far as I know on your device there are drivers for ATHEROS and INTEL wireless already preinstalled and these cards will be recognized and installed automatically.

  • Satellite U400 PSU44E Wireless card goes on and outside

I just brought a new Toshiba U400 laptop and I have a problem with him he doesn't connect card.
It is not to connect to a network. If he goes on and out.

As for using it at home it only connects in the same room and for the rest it does not connect even with a strong signal.
My other laptop does but it does not work.

Can you please help me with this question on what I can do to fix this?

    Please and thank you.

    Hi mate

I m u400 owner as well but my wireless card does not function properly.
I m using the latest version of the BIOS and latest driver WLan; You too?

Well, this procedure should be made if you didn't try to update the WLan driver in the past.
The update of the BIOS can be useful too.

Check and I m you should notice an improvement

  • Satellite P200 - update wireless card

    Hello

can anyone help? I want to upgrade the card wireless in my laptop n wireless, but I have a problem. I can't find where it goes.
I took all the above the bottom access panels, but I can't find anything.

Can someone point me in the right direction :)

    TIA

    Hello

I think that you do not find the installed wireless card because it is hidden under the keyboard.

But if you remove the keyboard and to upgrade the WLan card by yourself, then you will lose the warranty. You want to lose the warranty?

If I was you I would ask an authorized for this task.
    What is your opinion?

    Hello

I have a problem with the wireless card. I need a driver, but the original driver (excerpt from the Toshiba site) does not work.

    Check this box:

  • Satellite Pro 2410 - Wireless card (Belkin) will not allow

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro. I think it's a 2410, the model is PS241E-5G7U9-EN. I also have a Belkin Wireless PSMCIA card, model No. FSd7010. For a long time * these worked perfectly.* the computer serves pretty well, and I received it as a gift.

About 7-8 months, I had a catastrophic failure. I do not have the restore disc, so I had to do a format and a new install of XP Pro, and then I added drivers Toshiba etc. supplied with the PC, as I had this drive. I updated Windows SP3. The Belkin card took the latest downloaded drivers.

First of all, I had huge problems to make the card work, due to all kinds of conflicts and other issues. Now, the card will work, BUT only when the machine has 100% power. As soon as this fall, or if the machine is cut off in any other way that a stop (Hibernate, or lid closed), the card Belkin turns off and will not allow all. It allows for a second, detects the networks, then turns off.

Normally, I have to wait to be able to reach 100%, uninstall and reinstall. It is massively frustrating. I know that the PC is quite old, but it is a useful tool to the top and its primary function is Wi - Fi browsing. Anyone know how I can fix this problem? He worked before so it should again.

    Hello!

You have installed the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery disk?
You have the same problem with SP2?

Try to test the PCMCIA card in a different cell. Maybe it's a problem of the PCMCIA card.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P870 - updated wireless card

Is it possible to upgrade the card wireless in P870?

    Its currently 802.11 b/g/n and I want 802.11 a/g/n, so I can use my 5 GHz bandwidth.

The wireless network card supports the standard WLan miniPCI and the module is removable.
This means that you can replace with another module wireless network card, BUT there is a question open about BIOS support.

Of my manufacturers of portable knowledge don't support these hardware upgrades and so detailed information about the supported modules is no more.

I think you can perform these updates to day but only at your own risk. In the worst cases, the BIOS would not recognize the WLan card or you would not be able to activate the WiFi module using the function keys.
