Satellite P100-276 - 1 pixel vertical line

Help, please.

My Satellite P100-276 always shows a white * vertical *, screen of approximately 1/3 from the right side.
Changing the resolution of the screen does not change the width of the line.
Even at startup before Windows is active.
A screenshot does NOT have this line.

Unfortunately, the line appeared just after the warranty period.
Does anyone have experience similar and/or solved this problem?

Any suggestion, the solution or the experience is welcome!

Hello

Hmm, it seems to be a malfunction in the internal display hardware maybe. Have you checked an external monitor on the laptop? You may notice the same question it?

I think the display internal or the motherboard needs to be replaced. The best way is to contact the local authorized maintainer and ask for help. Technicians can share screen or on another party.

Good luck!

Googleing it, it turns out that you can solve this problem by changing the 'compatibility' mode in the bios, but not in MY bios.

Install a new CD player might settle it, but would be costly and complex at the same time.
I'm writing this using Ubuntu, who btw had no difficulties to install from the external drive.

    All solutions?

In the past, several people have reported the same problem.
Also, are you using the original recovery disk or the Microsoft installation disc?

The simplest solution is to buy the new optical disk drive. You can find it on eBay and it is cheap for this old machine. You can exchange it in 2 minutes, and everything will be OK again.

In the user s manuals document you can find a list of all compatible optical disk drives.
Satellite P100 is a fairly old machine, but if you use the original recovery disk it contains good SATA driver.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - 3mm thickness vertical line on screen

I have a thick vertical line of 3mm on the screen seems to come up in colors, it generally moved to gray.

The display was damaged - or is this some sort of driver problem.

    Hello

It looks like a hardware malfunction. UPS may be a FL. But I m not 100% sure.
What you can do? Well, if it's really a hardware fault so the only way is to contact Toshiba service. But it could also be a strange software problem. In this case, the best way is to recover the operating system and/or update the graphics driver. You can also check your BIOS version. If there is a newer version, then try to upgrade the version of the BIOS.
But if the material is broken, then contact ASP.

  • Satellite M40X-230: display fault - vertical lines

My laptop crashed last night and on itself reboot screen displayed (spaced on each 8mm) vertical dotted lines and then crashes with the following message (edited for the relevant points)

"Windows was arrested to avoid any damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag...
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver...
    "Technical information: * STOP: 0x000000EA (0x822185B0, 0xF8972CB4, 0 x 82133288, 0x00000001)".

The screen is damaged now wherever the phone is turned on.

However, if I have it start again, after the error, then mode message without failure, once Windows is used the display looks good (he is still defective prior to this, however). The same fault also occurs with an external monitor.

I tried to uninstall the driver for the graphics card, but that makes no difference.

Any ideas? I would like to reinstall windows, but that the fault if poster before the aircraft reach POST I really don't think that will make all the difference. That the screen is in Mode safe but not while it is booting up also does very much make sense to me either.

Thank you very much to get this far in my ramblings.

    Rich

    Hello

    According to the error message:
"... This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver... »

It may be a faulty graphics card because the same defect appears on the external display. But diagnostic tests are required to be 100% sure what s the fault could be.
The Toshiba service partner can start the test and then can give you some details about the failure. So, in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Re: Satellite A500 - 15 M - blue vertical line appears on the LCD screen

Hi - I turned on my laptop the other day (I have an A 500 - 15M) and I noticed a very thin dotted vertical blue line running through the centre-right of the screen of my computer, all the way up and down.

I tried things like change the desktop theme, screen settings, updated to the intel drivers but nothing is done, it won't go away. Does anyone have a solution or a similar problem? I bought an extended warranty of 3 years so could still call Toshiba and ask them about it, but wanted to see if there was a quick fix here of someone.

I tried to restore to a previous restore point, but nothing helped.

Help please, because it is very annoying!

    Thank you very much!

    Hi bilal1982,

Hmm, it seems to be a hardware malfunction with your laptop

I mean that if you tried to update the driver display and restored Windows to an earlier point, but without success, it seems that the graphics card or LCD screen is defective.
You can connect an external monitor to check if it of the graphics card or internal LCD screen.

But in both cases you should contact a provider authorized in your country. Guys can fix your laptop under warranty, so it of free for you.

Here is a list of aspic, where you can search:

    Good luck! :)

I have read similar problems in the forum and this is a common problem with Toshiba? I have spend £1500 on this and it is only 3 years old. My friends have older laptops of this almost 6 years old and in good working condition.
Y at - it a suggestion for this problem or a solution? The heat on the basis of the laptop is really hot and it's like that for centuries.

Any help is really appreciated after spending so much like to last longer or it is a problem of reliability with the Toshiba brand.

    Hi vns.

Hmm strange. I have ever read on these issues here in the forum with Satellite P100. Friend of me has the same model and it s still does work correctly, no problems at all.

Do you have the same vertical lines on a screen? If so, it is certainly associated with the internal graphics card and not watch.
By the way: you have the same problem in the BIOS or just Windows?

With regard to the heat on the underside: I think that it s time to clean it and remove dust. You can do this using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. That's why it of not necessary to disassemble your laptop.

    Hello, Lukas

You did the right thing and tested it with the external monitor. There is evidence that the display is faulty and must be replaced. It has nothing with the help of the ADB. Such a thing just happens.

Sorry, buddy, but there are two solutions, either Exchange the screen or use it with external monitor. :(

  • Satellite P100 - thin yellow line appears on the screen

    Hello world.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P100, 3 years ago.
Recently appeared on my screen an intermittent thin vertical yellow line.

Nothing serious, but very annoying, especially when I play or watch movies.
I just found that it is not a software problem, but a material one (I've connected the laptop with my TV and there is no yellow line shown on the screens).

So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.

You think it's interesting to try to fix this? What can I do?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.
    Maybe

Always is that those issues could be related to a defective LCD screen or graphics chip
But given that this line is not visible on the TV or external monitor this could be an internal screen problem and not a problem of graphics chip

    > You think it is worth trying to fix this? What can I do?
Well, a laptop screen is not a party so inexpensively.
It costs about 300-350 Euros and I wouldn't try to replace it if the warranty is no longer valid

  • Satellite M70-339 vertical lines on the screen

    Hello...

I have a Satellite M70-339, which will show only the vertical lines on the screen.
I connected an external monitor and booted in safe mode.
    I uninstalled the display drivers.
I started to monitor and reinstalled the display drivers.
The computer will now boot up screen.

I put the display to indicate to both monitor and screen.

    On the monitor, all right.
On the screen, I get vertical lines color, similar to a wallpaper (wallpaper is not pretty).

Did anyone has got any ideas what could be the problem, or how to diagnose the problem
    Any help would be appreciated.

    John C

If everything is OK on the external monitor that is the best evidence that this problem is related to the internal LCD. Display must be exchanged.

  • Satellite P100-160 - screen Vertical burst

Satellite P100-160 my son has developed a fault on the screen that no one seems able to identify the cause of.

If you imagine that the screen is divided into six equal vertical columns about 3 inches wide, the third vibrates from top down so that the image is blurry. Sometimes it stops after an hour - but recently it just keeps going. The other "columns" are very good. What is the screen itself (easily replaceable), or the video card (on the motherboard) or another component such as the inverter?
For now I'm not sure if scrap it and buy a new one or replace the screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I think that the best way to address this issue must connect to an external monitor to your laptop. If you notice the same problem on external monitor the problem is related to the graphics card itself. If the display is faulty and must be replaced.

Then connect an external monitor and check what's happening!

  • Vertical line on my screen of Satellite

Since this morning, a vertical line appears on my screen. It has nothing to do with electronic interference and or with windows. Because when I change the resolution, the line remains in the same place. My laptop is fairly new, so I really don't think my screen became bad. D

OES anyone know what to do?

    Hello

I agree with Lorelei. Connect the external monitor and check what is happening here. If the external monitor, the line does not appear, then dysfunction of the display.

It will be interesting to know what model of Satellite you have.

  • Satellite M60-104 - vertical lines on the LCD

    Hello guys,.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M60-104 and in recent months, I noticed vertical lines on the LCD screen. How can I solve the problem?

    Any response will be useful,

    thanx

    Hello

First of all, you should check if you have the same problem on an external monitor. So you can check if the problem is the graphics card or screen.

However, I think that the motherboard or display needs to be replaced. To do this, you can go to an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite P100: think that line appears on the screen during her watch low resolution movies

    Hello

My laptop is Satellite P100 with T5 cpu dual core and go7900 gs video card, 2 GB of ram
Because my laptop is new, I discovered a strange problem about the video card driver.
When I look at any kind of movies Sony handy cam, at the top of my 17 inch will display a line of thinking, and what's supposed to be shown here (desktop icons,...) is moved to the bottom.

I can fix that only if I change the resolution of my screen. I want to mention info film is: mpg 2 (format maxim) NTSC, 24.97, its 48 kHz dolby ac frame.
I think that it is a driver issue, but I'm not shore, that's why I need support.
Please what can I do to solve this error.
I have the latest video card driver and bios of the Toshiba site.

    Best regards to all!

This problem also occurs with other films (movies high resolution)?
Have you tried different video players?

  • Satellite P100-429 lines on screen

My P100-429 has and develops vertical lines (currently the 6 or 7 depending on the color of the screen) of different colors. These lines are pointed and seem to go up and down. The machine is based Office thus has no approximate service. Any ideas please?

These lines appear on the external screen?
    Did you check that?

If this is not the case, connect the external monitor to the laptop and see if the same question is visible on the second monitor.
If so, then your problem could be related to a dysfunction of graphics chips.

It would be the worst case because in most cases, the entire motherboard must be replaced. :(

    Good bye

    Hello

I have a Satellite P30-109 running on Windows XP... But my screen is slowly becoming bad. It's getting vertical lines from the top of the screen down. In addition, the colors are much darker than before.

But when I plug in an external display, there is no problem. So I do not think that the video card problem? He spent the period of warranty.

    TNX

    Haris

You are right; If the same question doesn't appear on the external monitor then it s certainly not a GPU problem!

I think it might be a problem with the LCD itself or with the small role as a FL inverter.
I think you should communicate with ASP in your county for a check.

Maybe if you're a lucky man, only the small part malfunctions and the replacement wouldn t be expensive.
