Satellite P100-347 screen is empty

Hello

I have the laptop above for about two years, running Windows XP. Recently, and with increasing frequency, the screen is empty. It remains illuminated and the laptop still works, with his work.

I have eliminated I thought initially cause overheating. He responded to be switched off and left for a while. But now he does after being down for about 30 minutes. Does not appear to be linked to any particular process that I can identify. None of the new programs installed. Run all my virus protection and it seems clear there.

Any ideas?

Shost

Hmm maybe there something wrong with the graphics chip?
Have you tried to update the graphics driver from the Toshiba page?
You use the latest version of the BIOS for this model of laptop computer?

Please check these two updates and check if the parts are updated!

Sorry for this universal advice, but these are strange and it s still very difficult to say what might cause such problems

Good luck

  • Satellite P100-347: blue screen at startup - unable to boot volume

Recently, I left my 2 younger brothers playing NFS Carbon on my satellite P100-347, pre-installed with media center edition 2005, and now it fails to start.

During the process of possibly starting a blue screen appears for about a second and then it shutsdown (I managed to make the words "unable to boot volume" on the basis of the blue screen).

I tried to boot with a XP media center DVD but it gives me only a possibility of reinstalling the operating system with a cost of losing all my important data. Normally I would have picked up the system, but I don't want to lose my data.

Can I do other than take it to a technician?

    Hello

Well, for the most part the BSOD appears due to hardware problem or serious software.
In your case, the software problem is possible

Unfortunately, I think that the new installation of the OS is the best way to get the laptop works properly.
Now, you want to know how to record data and the files well, I think that you should remove the laptop HARD drive and must try to connect the 2.5 HDD via external USB controller to another computer. Then you can save the files to the other HARD disk

I think, now, you know that regular backups are important and necessary!

  • Satellite P100-347 - problem with the judgment during the game

    I have a problem with my (pspa6e) Satellite P100-347

After about 10 minutes of play time with games like battlefield 2, the SIMS2 and so on... my pc stops...
I knew it was close because of high gpu or cpu temp...

I felt that my laptop was warm, but after playing for a while its normal...

So I installed HWmonitor to check my gpu, CPU and disk hard temp...

    That's what I show:

    THRM: 61.C - 141.F

    CPU: core0\1 - two 64.C - 147.F

    GPU: turn 85 stable - 90.C
    This normal use... no games...

    HARD DRIVE: 39.C

Something must be wrong! GPU temp is too high?
I tried a fresh install of the OS...

Thnx for all the help and answers!

Hmm these times can be a little high.

Most likely there is dust in the radiator. You can use compressed air to remove it. Or as a miracle solution, blow into the vents dust closes in contrast to air circulation.

  • Satellite P100-347 with Vista Premium in the United Kingdom

I am looking to buy the Satellite P100-347, but I want to get with Vista Premium - no upgrade.
Does anyone know when this machine will be available with Vista Premium in the United Kingdom.

    Thanks in advance

    Joel

    Hello Joel

I heard that Toshiba will start notebook with Windows Vista at the end of January 2007. Perhaps the United Kingdom will be starts earlier (perhaps it is also a country, I put t know exactly).

As you know Vista comes with several different versions, but it will be preinstalled on P100, no one can tell you with certainty.

  • Satellite P100-347 - nVidia drivers day?

Can support Toshiba fix some vista updated drivers for:

    Satellite P100-347... (pspa6e)

This should be up to date on Toshiba site, because the drivers on
NVIDIA.com do not work on my Toshiba laptop...

    Thnx

It is well known that manufacturers of graphics support pages downloaded drivers cannot be installed on laptops. Each laptop manufacturer must ensure that display driver works well on the specific cell phone model and will not force the graphics card to run on the highest level.

I hope you understand why laptop manufacturers do this.

In any case, you can just hope that your message will be read by the Toshiba support service. ;)

  • DVD drive does not burn/erase RS - Satellite P100-347

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite p100-347 PSPA6E laptop computer. It has a DVD burner with model number: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N (firmware pt06). It has capabilities to burn any DVD (please see example using dvdino: http://tinyurl.com/2hbpqv).

However, I can't rewrite on my Maxell dvd + rw (1.4 x speed) dvd. whenever I go to a software application to erase a dvd that I wrote on, it says unrecognized format. For example, Nero says "this disc is not rewritable and therefore can not be deleted. Please insert a rewritable disc.

The disc is rewritable because it says on the cover and also it burns on my friends rewritable dvd burner :(

Please can anyone help:(je suis vraiment coincé et il serait beaucoup aprécié)

    Hello

As you probably know, readers don t support all kinds of media.
I mean not every CD - R, DVD - RW, CD + RW, DVD + RW, and so on, average is supported.
I can confirm these issues in my practical knowledge I tested for several months and many media, I use the TDK on my laptop and only CD or DVD media.
They work best with my drive...

But I'll give you a tip:
You should remove other software burning like sonic, etc if you use Nero. The joint software sometimes makes trouble.

  • Satellite P100-347: Blue Leds - they disabled/disabled?

I read several topics in the forum on the P100 Harman/Kardon speakers Blue LEDs/lights. None expressed a definitive answer on how to turn off the LEDs.

I was wondering if a new update on this issue has occurred. The last post of forum about this was in February. Is it possible to turn off those annoying lights in newer models of Satellite? I would disconnect the wires so its an easy task.

    My laptop is the Satellite P100 - 347 (SPA6E)

    Thank you very much

    Hi Dan

Have you used advanced search forum?
    I don t think so!

I have used and found several discussions on this topic.
I searched in the section P satellite for blue light and learn from these publications:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=16008&MessageID=58569
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19701&MessageID=72256

Then why write something that has already been discussed here in the forum?

  • Instant stopping and restarting on Satellite P100-347

My satellite P100-347 maintains close instantly then restart. All the solutions because its still new and very expensive for a replacement.

    Hello

It seems that your machine is overheating and then he made a stop for reasons of physical security.
You said that it happened when you play NFS carbon, it is a good sign for a cpu/vga heat problem.

I suggest you to clean your fan and your cooling system, because when it s clobbed with of the dust of the system cannot be properly cooled and it is stopped to avoid serious damage to your valuable equipment. Just be a can of compressed air and clean your cooling system (but gently, otherwise you may damage the fan who convey the air that is heated from cpu/vga)

Just a question: what drivers are installed for your vga? You have the original toshiba display drivers? If this isn't the case, then the problem is self explaining because schedules of the original nvidia/ati drivers are not suitable for laptops.

    Welcome them

  • How to find the exact motherboard for Satellite P100-347 model?

    Hello
I hope someone could help me. I'm looking for a new motherboard for my computer toshiba laptop because it replaced needs.

I own a laptop Satellite P100-347 of pspa6e-03302cen and have not been able to find this anywhere online forum. Although I found two suppliers of many motherboards of p100, they use numbers of alternative model in which I can't find anywhere in my documents or on the computer. The model numbers they use are something like A000008350 or a number starting with k. I'm sure that the supplier I found has the motherboard, I would need but I would need a list of all the numbers of the other party for my laptop, or a way to find the exact numbers. Any help on this is appreciated...
    Thank you

To be honest I really don't think that someone here can offer you this info. As you know, this info is for internal use and you can try to get this info from service provider authorized in your country. Sorry, but I don't see a better solution, except to wait here and hope someone can help.

  • Cannot be accessed by Satellite P100-347 after the password of BIOS setting

My friend has recently created a startup password using the numeric keypad and now I can't access my satellite P100-347 beyond startup even if am to enter the correct password!

Is there anyway around this problem?

    Hello

    Bad sorry :(

Unfortunately, you must contact the ASP in your country for this problem.
Technicians have first remove this BIOS password.
In addition, I think that to avoid this problem, the BIOS must be updated to version 2.40 or higher and also the Toshiba utility must be updated to version 1.8.14.2 or higher.

    Good luck

  • On my Satellite P100-347 cooling fan runs all the time

    Hello

I think I might have a problem with the fan on my Satellite P100-347. He seems to be constantly works constantly and is much stronger than when I bought the computer. Initially he just spent and if so, I think that this could now be wrong.
    Help, please.

    Hi Beata

I agree with the suggestions of Sanremo; He s I don't known how old your laptop has but from time to time it of necessary to clean the cooling fans. Dust and debris inside the laptop could prevent the cooling modules work properly!
The fresh air flow is also very important. Don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop. Do not use the laptop on the lap or in the bed. In this case the laptop cannot be cooled in the right way and the high temperature can damage parts such as GPU to the Board of Directors.

But if you think that there is a serious hardware problem you must contact the service provider authorized in your country.

Good luck and greetings to Poland ;)

  • Satellite P100-160 - screen Vertical burst

Satellite P100-160 my son has developed a fault on the screen that no one seems able to identify the cause of.

If you imagine that the screen is divided into six equal vertical columns about 3 inches wide, the third vibrates from top down so that the image is blurry. Sometimes it stops after an hour - but recently it just keeps going. The other "columns" are very good. What is the screen itself (easily replaceable), or the video card (on the motherboard) or another component such as the inverter?
For now I'm not sure if scrap it and buy a new one or replace the screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I think that the best way to address this issue must connect to an external monitor to your laptop. If you notice the same problem on external monitor the problem is related to the graphics card itself. If the display is faulty and must be replaced.

Then connect an external monitor and check what's happening!

  • Pixel dead on Satellite P100-347

    Dear all,

We just bought this great P100-347, and we know that it is one of the most powerful machines on the market. But there is a very annoying defect that we feel that this is something that everyone should be made aware.

After comparing the different brands of computer on the internet and in several computer stores, we have decided to go for another PC Toshiba laptop. The House and what came as a surprise was when we started for the first time, that we noticed a "glimmer of hope green/white" on the screen. Yes, consistent dead/no pixels. The brilliant green point just seems very annoying and spoils everything.

Immediately, we called Toshiba global customer. We were informed but expecting a call in 3 days. When we asked if we were to take back to the retailer in hopes of an Exchange or expect from Toshiba for the reminder. After searching the Internet for problems of dead pixels, we found that many people on this website have the dead pixel problem.

We like Toshiba and continues to buy the Toshiba brand, we hope to get this fault recognised by society. We would be grateful if a repair or replacement service may be provided.

Our view is that, turn on the computer right there in the shop after completing the purchase, in this way, if there is no default, it makes the resolution easier and faster for all parties involved and then you can just take home your perfect and beloved machine without a worry in the world.

Fingers crossed for our new Toshiba fixed/replaced.

    Hello

    I understand you very well.
During my investigation in this forum, I found some comments and advice on issues of pixel dead on laptop screens.
Usually it is not big thing to do because there is a kind of tolerance of dead pixels.

    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm

Only if the number of dead pixel is larger, then the number described in the document above the ASP will replace the screen.
The best advice is to go back to the dealer and replace the notebook.

I think you should also check this document on dead pixels

    Good bye

  • Satellite P100 - the screen goes black

    Hello

I have a Satellite P100 and randomly, the screen goes black but the system continues to operate. I downloaded the latest drivers from toshiba, all power options the maximum support, run ccleaner and driver Sweeper to remove the old entries driver, re-installed the login screen of the mobo and nothing seems to work.

The screen goes black sometimes when using windows but STILL turns black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Model: Toshiba Satellite P100-PSPA6A-02NO21
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200@2GHz
GPU: Nvidia Quadro nvs 510 m
    Chipset: Intel i945PM
    HARD drive: Fujitsu 148GB
    RAM 2 GB
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 operating system

    Hey,.

    > ALWAYS goes black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.
This means that the graphics card is defective

Theoretically, it could be an overheating problem too. Higher time can also cause a black screen. You should try everything that is possible to clean your laptop using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

If it doesn t help it seems to be a hardware malfunction but seriously a point would be interesting: have you noticed the same thing with preinstalled OS (Vista) Toshiba?
