Satellite P200 - 14 H - is - what SSD upgrade possible?

My HARD drive just died and I want to put an SSD in my P200 14 H...

Is it possible to put an SSD sata 3 in my laptop where I had a disc hard classic sata 1?

Hello

SATA controller is compatible with the bottom means that the SATA III SSD would be compatible with a SATA I controller but, of course, you won't get the benefits of SATA III

Does anyone have to upgrade this laptop to a disc SSD or Seagate Momentus XT?

    Concerning

I agree with Akuma. In General, upgrading should be possible, but due to compatibility issue no one can say with certainty if some SSD works properly or not.

I just hope that some other T135 owners will offer more specific information about these updates.

Talk with your dealer and ask if there is possibility to make SSDS if something is wrong.

Please post comments on the upgrade.

    Hello

As far as I know the SATA III are supported since the Intel P67/H67 chipsets
That is why the laptop seems to support 300 MB/s max and this would mean that the SATA II HDD is good enough

    Can I have my CPU of T7500 upgrade x 7900? I have a portable Satellite X 200 x 21. 965 pm chipset.
What do I need to upgrade?

    Thank you

I think that a better way is for you to update your RAM and make Windows faster.

The laptop supports support up to 4 GB of RAM DDR2 at 667 MHz. At present, the price of memory are very cheap so it s a good time to update.

In addition if make you Windows faster this improves performance also. For example, to delete all programs in the folder startup and msconfig that you need, disable unnecessary services, defragment your HARD drive at any time and to this day.
A bit of research with Google, and then you will find more things.

  • Need to Backpack for my Satellite P200

    Hello

    I am looking for a Satellite P200 backpack. But what I found is a 15.4 "backpack (PX1417E-1NCA).
    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you

    Hi mate,

do you want to really be a bag on back of toshiba or would you also choose one of another brand? I suggest these brands like targus or deuter, they have really nice backpacks that are designed for complete portability and comfort. In particular these two mentioned brands are endearing importance to the security of your machine which means you can leave your laptop in your bag (or better expressed "you forget your laptop in your backpack") and you´re throughout the weekend a game somewhere in nature. The backpack lied several times somewhere around during a short rain shower without beeing covered what whatsoever. After the weekend I came back home and asked myself where my work station could. I found it in my bag on back and nothing has happened.

By the way: the cost of this Backpack was around 30 Euros...

I own a Tecra A9 with a 15.4 screen and my backpack targus older don't fullfill absolutely all of my needs.

I hope that my story was some amusement for you ;)

  • SSD upgrade for Satellite Pro P200 (PSPB7A-01000J) - possible?

    Hello world

I had a Satellite Pro P200 for 3 years and more. It came with Vista Business pre-installed, but I have successfully installed Windows 7 a few months ago.

A few months ago, I replaced the C drive in my office with a Solid State Drive and now he sings - program start and loading of the system is much faster than before.

Now I'm wondering if the SSD upgrade even could be done to my trusty P200 and if yes, what brand/model of SSD could be better. It should be 128 GB or 256 GB maybe.

Anyone else been in this way? The results? Pitfalls?

    All responses appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Greg.

    Hello

I think that it should be possible.
You must use a SATA SSD drive since the laptop supports the SATA controller.
To be honest, I never tried to upgrade the laptop with a SSD but SSD is not very different from the HARD drive and normally should not be a problem.
In some cases, an update of the firmware of SSD may be necessary but usually these firmware updates should be available on the SSD drive manufacturer support page.

  • SSD in Satellite P200-1BA

After several years with a slow disk in my laptop Satellite P200-1BA, I decided to change it.
Is it possible to replace it with an SSD?
What is compatible with my camera?

Will see dramatic behavior to my laptop because now I have 3 minutes start and quite slow behavior.
I want to buy a new one, but for now if the SSD is an option, I'll replace the drive, I'll see what I'll do.

    Thank you

Satellite P200 is good old notebook. Long ago I had P200D and I used it with Windows 7 32 bit.
I think that there should be no problem to update your computer with SSD. You don't need to get more expensive and with better specifications.

On the market, there are a lot of SSD from different manufacturers with different prices.
In the past on this forum, many people have posted on the good experiences with Toshiba, Kingston or Samsung SSD. visit your local dealer and check what might be best for you.

    > Will I see dramatic behavior to my laptop, because now I have 3 minutes start and quite slow behavior.
Without a doubt. What operating system you want to use with new SSD?

    Hello

Must add driver SATA while installing Windows.
During the installation process you will be asked to add the driver (F6 key)
Then you could add the connected USB floppy disk driver.

    Hello

These issues have been several times here in the Toshiba forum and there is only one answer.
It s not possible to update the graphics card on any laptops!

The GPU is mostly welded and mounted on the motherboard and it of impossible to remove it!

You ask for options? Well, I read on maps external graphics for laptops, but in my opinion, this isn't a real option and don t think that the performance of this graphics card would be much better that your graphics card internal laptop P200

  • HARD drive and memory upgrade on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Hello

I own Satellite P200 17 c. My current memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 2 GB. I would like to upgrade to DDR2 PC2 - 6400 4 GB of ram. I can do and it's going to be some speed improvements, if I update to PC2-6400 PC2-5300 instead?

I have 2 hard drives on my P200 17 c. 2 x 100 GB. I want to upgrade one of these two HD ranging from 100 GB to 320 GB 5400 RPM. can I do this? and it'll be a difference if I update with HD who has 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

First of all: your machine is able to handle a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but please be aware that you won´t be able to use all of the 4 GB due to some limitations of the chipset that are explained in the following article: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

Regarding the speed of module: chipset specifications are defined for PC5300, so it will not improve your speed when you install faster modules.

If you want to upgrade your hard drive then do as you like, because it shouldn´t be any restrictions, you can install a drive with 7200 RPM with a slower.

The only difference will be that the faster drive faster. The performance of the entire system would increase only when you´re install your operating system on the disk more fast (which is the recommendation of my side :))

    Hello

    > RAM will be downrated to a slower speed in the Toshiba or the 880 works perfectly

Sorry, but I don t know what you mean by 880. Do you mean the module 880 Mhz DDR2?

There are different models of Satellite P200, but generally you can use DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM barrettes

Compatible module runs at 667 Mhz.

  • Portégé R600-102: what SSD for upgrade?

    Hello everyone.

I want to upgrade my SSD the real 128 GB to a bigger: what are the specifications for the new SSD to work? Should what interface have? What physical dimensions?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    TIA,
    Flavio.

    Hello

I guess that the SSD upgrade is the same as the upgrade of the HARD drive.
The laptop support SATA controller, you will need a SATA SSD.
The old drive SSD is 9.5 mm in height the new SSD drive should support the same height.

Given that the SATA controller is not limited to any size, it should be possible to use the SSD drives more of 128 GB but there is still a matter of BIOS support.

Unfortunately, it s unclear to me if the BIOS would support more large SSD drives, but generally this should be supported.
