Satellite P200 keeps closing

Hi guys,.

I'm after a little help because it's really annoying now.
It is the first Toshiba laptop I've owned and hearing they are reliable.
My first problem was a missing pixel but these things happen, and who was traded the next day.

My question now, that happened with the last of them is too it stops after a few hours of being on.
For example I was sitting there last night on Ebay when all of a sudden, he just died. I push the button to restart and it comes up saying to start it in safe MODE. Then I hit enter and the small time bar gets down to view the progress and bam, it will again.
No matter how many times I try it won't turn on.

The first time it happened I spoke with the company that I bought at which instructed him to try in BIOS and once it stops. I was told I could take back and Exchange, and while I was there a technician had a look. After about 10 minutes, he traded the laptop. But now this other does exactly the same thing.

So this could be the processor, not too hot?
I do try and give the best ventelation with sides and about 70% of the background clear. But I've never had that with any other laptop.

Also, probably not connected, but the screen saver does not always work. Infact I've only seen him work twice on 2 of the 3 machines in time, I got them.
It flashes, then flashes to black and that's where he stay.

Thoughts or ideas to put my mind at rest?

Thank you

I'll try to explain your problem.
It is a laptop upscale. It was equipped with a high-performance CPU and graphics card.
While the laptop is running with high performance, parts such as GPU and CPU produce a lot of heat.
This leads to a temperature higher inside the laptop.

I have a question;
Which driver of video card you are using?
You should always use the Toshiba designed graphics drivers because these drivers support and protection against overheating. This protection stops the laptop if the temperature reaches a critical level.

If the temperature of the GPU would rise to a higher level, then the graphics card driver would decrease performance GPU to make sure that the chip would not overheat. This protection is necessary because the graphics of mobile phones are not equipped with the huge cooling modules like graphics cards for desktop PC.

Non-Toshiba driver graphics don t support this protection and this could lead to a higher temperature and overheating and finally, it could damage the GPU!

This is why you should always use the Toshiba GPU drivers!

  • Satellite P750 keeps closing

Hi guys, I am a newcomer.

My friend, but I have a Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY3A - 05S 001) and had trouble with her then she asked me if I could fix it and I accepted his favor.

According to her, the laptop cannot boot on the windows that display an error to the screen, and she added that the keyboard does not seem to work that gives me and it's just a hard drive error or should reformat.

I applied the solution to his problem, but it seems that it's not simple, because after formatting the laptop keeps closing and start on its own. I asked him about the closure, and she has no idea why so much. She added that the laptop can be tempered.

I tried to open up the laptop, but unfortunately I was scared and screwed back together.

    Hello

Unfortunately there is no specific information on this laptop, and that's what we have here is nothing more than speculation.
If the laptop was soaked that there are probably maonboard the troublemaker and should probably be replaced.

Error, the screen keyboard is not working, laptop guard stop and start on its own... all of this indicates that this model of laptop has a serious hardware problem and I sure it's m motherboard.
Please don't get me wrong, but your opportunities to do something about it are very limited and I think this laptop should be controlled by technicians. They have special diagnostic tools and they can check if there is a problem with the motherboard.

My new Satellite P500 maintains close without apparent reason. Does not seem to matter what I am doing, play games on the net or just clean up the files, twice it almost closed but recovered itself and displays a message about the video card. Is someone else has a similar problem?

    Hello

8 months, I have Satellite P500. He is always pre-installed with OS, I received from Toshiba (Win 7 64 bit) and the laptop runs very God. Preinstalled OS runs stabile and so far I didn't notice any serious problems. Several times I had the same problem with display driver recovery, but I don't see it as a critical issue

What operating system do you use? It's the original OS, you got with your laptop?

  • Re: Satellite L350 keeps closing

Whenever I use my laptop L350, it stops without warning - usually after use about 10-15 minutes

If anyone has an idea how to do to stop what is happening, your help would be greatly appreciated!

Try to clean the laptop using jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. If this does not help, maybe you need to replace a thermal grease.

    Hello
I have a few years ago:
    Satellite P200-1FY
    Reference: PSPB6E-0QR035FR

I just bought a new hard drive WD20EARS (2 TB) 64 MB of RAM,
and I connected on an external box<-> SATA USB3 (closed hot 'cc'), so plugin on my toshiba via USB (USB2.0 card)

    I partitioned the drive with 2 parts (1 part FAT32 (enabled): 930KB and 1 NTFS 1, 89 GB)

    * My problem is :*
I am not able to detect the drive by the bios (bios updated with 2.7 "bios - 20110124131826.zip"), in order, starting with partition FAT32)

    tests I've already done :*
    (1) connect this drive (WD20EARS) on a PC: HP 6530--> result b: drive is detected by the bios, it is impossible to boot the disk
and the operating system is started correctly

    (2) plug in sametime a usb2 startup key and the disc--> result: WD20EARS disc is displayed on the selection of the bios (sometimes)

Could you help me find the problem (bios, disk or box usb3) or have you updated to solve

BIOS cannot detect the external HARD drive? You want to start OS saved on the external HARD drive? Is this correct?

Tests 1 and 2 are related to this HP laptop?

  • Is there a manual installation of XP for Satellite P200 - 1 FT (PSPB6)

    Hello
Two months ago, I've decided to review the Satellite P200 - 1 FT (PSPB6).
I already asked toshiba support if I could install Windows XP Professional.
They said yes, so I tried to install windows XP now.

    But then the problems arrived.
    XP works but not really.
WLAN is not working, hd - dvd player, a whole that does not work.

I read last night in another Forum an installation manual, as I wanted to print the manual in the morning, the other Forum has been closed.

So I hope you can help me, tell me what driver should I install first a whitch at least.

    Hello

First of all if you want to use XP on this laptop then you need to update the BIOS to the XP version.

Also, you must first install the XP patches; KB888111 and KB835221 before installing the audio driver.

    With regard to your WLan.
The Wlan driver is located here on the Toshiba Wlan Portal:
    http://APS.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

You should only choose the right driver ;)

You said that the HD DVD player doesn t work?
Well, I didn't find the drive DVD HD Toshiba for Windows XP and so you will not be able to play HD DVD with a DVD HD Toshiba under Win XP drive.

  • Satellite P200-RT2 - need help with recovery

I made a Boo-Boo and need advice/help to get things fixed.

My husband has a Satellite P200-RT2 running Win XP 32 bit (included with Vista, but had been upgraded). The battery needs to be replaced, does not load and he made the mistake to disconnect while it was closing, but had not closed completely. Laptop computer would not start even in Safe Mode.

So, I thought to try to insert a disc Win XP Pro thought, he would work to restart the computer and start again. No, he took over and completely restructured the laptop. If great, now have Win XP Pro on it, but can not load all Toshiba drivers that I downloaded from the Toshiba site.

I was not in a position to know if there is a specific order to load the drivers... have been reading and wonder if the BIOS should be the first?

Needless to say that the Toshiba recovery software went on the P200-RT2, I can't find a separate drive that supposedly it contains, there are only two listed drives, drive C and D (for DVDs).

Toshiba tells me that Microsoft sells the recovery software, MS told me that Toshiba sells. There are sites online that have the recovery disc for Vista I could buy or download, but I'm not sure on those that are reliable/safe.

Have to mention that I have a Toshiba laptop latest (L675 - 40 X, Win 7) and have the recovery disc for it.

Is it possible to use these recovery disks for Toshiba software loaded on the old P200-RT2?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If I could get the XPPro to work, which would leave as OS... but I don't know where to find the drivers.

    Satellite P200 - RT2 PSPB0C is a Canadian model.
But the same model was released in Europe under the model number:E PSPB0

You will find all of the Win XP drivers on the Toshiba UE driver page:

    Hey Buddy,

As far as I know the utility power touchpad is designed only for Windows XP and not Vista or Windows 7...

Usually the touchpad off automatically when a USB mouse is connected. This option can be set in the touchpad driver. If you need to install the driver for the touchpad Synaptics and Alps Electric of Vista for your model.

After that, check the settings for the touchpad for this option!

  • My Satellite P30 keeps overheating...

    Hello

My Satellite P30 keeps overheating and stop playing computer games. I had this problem 4 months ago and sent my computer to Toshiba. They sent to me with a new fan but now 4 months later the same problem comes back again.

I doubt that the fan is broken again because I changed it about 4 months ago. I read somewhere on the internet that the problem might be rather an accumulation of dust on the heatsink. I heard that there is a problem with many Toshiba models, which will suck the air from below without filter.

If it's my problem, how can I clean my radiator?

    Thank you
    Hugo B

    Hello Hugo

The problem is not just dust. A friend of mine has a similar problem and at the end I saw that he uses his cell phone on the table with the tablecloth. The of cold air over the lower part was closed and unit was suddenly switched off.

Be also careful that your device can catch its breath and you can do a test, put on something to do with the distance between the laptop and the desktop (four books or something similar). Please try this and let me know if the problem persists.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite P200 - installation of XP and SATA driver

    Hi guys

    I'm new to the forum.

I know there are already 100 topics on installing XP on a Toshiba Satellite P200 and believe me I have lived all of them, but I'm still fighting trying to install XP.

I will describe the steps I've been through so if someone could tell me where I'm wrong or try something other way out then let me know:

I went to the following site to download Intel Matrix Storage Manager:
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

    First of all, I downloaded
    32-bit floppy Configuration utility
    (F6flpy3287)

Now the first download did not contain an exe file, so I've been to unzip and copy the files on my floppy drive. I inserted my XP SP3 CD and rebooted the laptop, when XP installs the Setup files, I pressed F6 (that she mentions at the bottom of the screen) after installation of the files, that it says something like that couldn't detect the drivers and press S to select one of the pilots in total there are 4 riders, I chose all alone (so did 4 facilities in total) , but it keeps giving the same error.

The error itself says something like the hard drive is not detected and to be honest its make me lose the will to live because I spent hours trying to figure this out.

As there are two managers matrix downloads I tried the other as well:

32-bit floppy Configuration Utility for Intel Matrix Storage Manager version 5.5.0.1035
    (F6flpy32)

This one was an exe file, I have attached my USB floppy drive ran the exe file that has copied the files and I tried to choose once again each of the 4 drivers the entire installation, but it says the same thing no hard drive detected.

Someone help me please, I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you

To be honest, here are really quite subject to this subject and enough descriptions how to do this please, read it.

I think the simplest is that you download the storage on the Toshiba site manager.
Then, you can use nLite to integrate the driver on the CD.
After that, you must also start the CD and then the HARD drive is detected (you don't need to press F6 to load the driver.

    Hola amigo

One of my friends has a Satellite P200 also, but he never noticed something like that
It s no static sound or something not like this

What operating system do you use? Did something change in sound settings I hear the speaker and microphone internal.

I have Realtek Sound Manager preinstalled on my laptop. Here I can activate the option eliminate the microphone and speaker whistles.

    Maybe you should check this.

  • Satellite P200 - 17 c PSPB6E - battery and charger delivers

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I had my laptop Satellite P200 - 17 c PSPB6E for about 2 years. For the last 6 months the battery and the AC adapter have been gradually getting worse.

The adapter is now very loose and I need to hold it with one hand while using the laptop. The same battery with the AC charger in place does not increase (it shows 0% available plugged in, load). If the AC adapter slips, the laptop is dead and I need to recharge.

Essentially, it seems the only thing keeping the laptop on, is the adapter (which itself is very loose).

I need to know whether a battery or a problem with the AC adapter. I had only the laptop for a short period and would not have expected problems early.

    Thank you

    Baker

    Hello

In my opinion, that your laptop is quite old (2 years) and these things can happen, mate.

But I think you need new batteries and AC adapter or motherboard. If the battery doesn't charge with adapter connected the case is clear: the battery is faulty because she will not be charged.

Regarding the connection of the adapter problem AC/DC it's hard to say because theoretically, it could also be a problem with the socket on the motherboard. This is why you should ask a technician for laptop. The technician can tell you what the problem is.

  • Satellite P200-1EE - Vista stuck on the homepage

    Hello

    * My Satellite P200-1EE is stuck on the progress bar Windows Vista since yesterday morning * and I'm unable to contact my office.

I tried several solutions using the F8 key at startup.

    1 / safe mode

2 / startup repair. "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically.

3 / the system restore. "No restore point.

4 / windows complete PC Restore. "No restore point.

5 / Windows memory diagnostic tool. It is said that there is no problem of memory.

So I am only left with the options of 'Restore the full Windows operating system' and the 'command prompt '.

But I'm not too sure of the latter option. That's where I need your advice.

    * If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? * I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

Obviously, * I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff D or E.*
Could you advise me on the best option?

    Thank you

    Paul

    > If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

Depends on the disc that you would use if you want to use the Toshiba recovery disc, then the whole HARD disk would be formatted, including all partitions on the HARD drive.
If you want to use the disk in Microsoft Windows Vista, you can choose which partition has been formatted and where the Vista must be installed.

    > Clearly, I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff on D or E.
    > Could you advise me on the best option?

If you n t want to lose the data stored on the D partition and if you don t have a disc of Microsoft Vista, install the OS of Visa then I would recommend, remove the laptop HARD drive. Then plug the 2.5 SATA HDD with a USB-SATA controller then this HARD drive to another computer.
Usually, you should be able to access the D partition and would be able to move all the data to another computer.

  • HARD drive and memory upgrade on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Hello

I own Satellite P200 17 c. My current memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 2 GB. I would like to upgrade to DDR2 PC2 - 6400 4 GB of ram. I can do and it's going to be some speed improvements, if I update to PC2-6400 PC2-5300 instead?

I have 2 hard drives on my P200 17 c. 2 x 100 GB. I want to upgrade one of these two HD ranging from 100 GB to 320 GB 5400 RPM. can I do this? and it'll be a difference if I update with HD who has 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

First of all: your machine is able to handle a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but please be aware that you won´t be able to use all of the 4 GB due to some limitations of the chipset that are explained in the following article: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

Regarding the speed of module: chipset specifications are defined for PC5300, so it will not improve your speed when you install faster modules.

If you want to upgrade your hard drive then do as you like, because it shouldn´t be any restrictions, you can install a drive with 7200 RPM with a slower.

The only difference will be that the faster drive faster. The performance of the entire system would increase only when you´re install your operating system on the disk more fast (which is the recommendation of my side :))

  • Satellite P200 - 123 No Post, but still the boots

    Hello

Have a strange, my old Satellite P200-123 worked extremely hot (70 inactive more than 100 of the load) 2 years so he disassembled and replaced the thermal grease, fans and cleaned. Standard maintenance went well, (apart from the microphone plug disintegrate at the start, but I use headphones so not really a problem).

First boot after the interview I noticed that the screen does not display anything until windows log in screen, no toshiba screen, no post messages, etc. At first, I thought it may have lack of an external port (VGA or HDMI) however I tried to connect to an external device and he still refuses to show anything until the windows log on screen.

I stripped and repaired hundreds of laptops (it's my job) but never encountered this in 15 years of maintenance and repairs PC and laptop. System running Windows 7 (not like it should make a difference) and the used thermal grease was the new Artic MX-3 and served on the GPU, the CPU and the Northbridge (and before someone says you must use the compound of unfounded pressure of toshiba ceramics, stuff I've used here are better for this the toshiba recommended stuff, believe me). The system works well (now idling at 39 and 65 at full load), I guess that's not much of a problem, unless I need to reinstall or restore my machine for some reason, all the world has an idea on how to fix this?

    Very interesting, Jaster! :)
