Re: Satellite P200 - installation of XP and SATA driver

Hi guys

I'm new to the forum.

I know there are already 100 topics on installing XP on a Toshiba Satellite P200 and believe me I have lived all of them, but I'm still fighting trying to install XP.

I will describe the steps I've been through so if someone could tell me where I'm wrong or try something other way out then let me know:

I went to the following site to download Intel Matrix Storage Manager:
http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

First of all, I downloaded
32-bit floppy Configuration utility
(F6flpy3287)

Now the first download did not contain an exe file, so I've been to unzip and copy the files on my floppy drive. I inserted my XP SP3 CD and rebooted the laptop, when XP installs the Setup files, I pressed F6 (that she mentions at the bottom of the screen) after installation of the files, that it says something like that couldn't detect the drivers and press S to select one of the pilots in total there are 4 riders, I chose all alone (so did 4 facilities in total) , but it keeps giving the same error.

The error itself says something like the hard drive is not detected and to be honest its make me lose the will to live because I spent hours trying to figure this out.

As there are two managers matrix downloads I tried the other as well:

32-bit floppy Configuration Utility for Intel Matrix Storage Manager version 5.5.0.1035
(F6flpy32)

This one was an exe file, I have attached my USB floppy drive ran the exe file that has copied the files and I tried to choose once again each of the 4 drivers the entire installation, but it says the same thing no hard drive detected.

Someone help me please, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

To be honest, here are really quite subject to this subject and enough descriptions how to do this please, read it.

I think the simplest is that you download the storage on the Toshiba site manager.
Then, you can use nLite to integrate the driver on the CD.
After that, you must also start the CD and then the HARD drive is detected (you don't need to press F6 to load the driver.

And here's all the necessary links:

  • Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 and performance issue

I hope IM this ad in the right area...

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 with the following specifications:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz CPU
    3 GB RAM
    32 bit
    Note Windows experience 4.8

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 map graphic and one
    HD sound card...

My problem is that since I bought my laptop about 7-8 months ago slowed down the performance. Of course, since then I had filled my hard drive (partition) with the media and understand that this is at the expense of the performance of the system. However, since this grateful I released a lot of disk space. I have 40 GB free on my C: and 90 GB free on my D:. Total, shared capacity is 250 GB (125/125).

Basically, while being largely ignorant of the technical questions, laptops and technology altogether, the way I noticed the inability of systems to "return" to its original factory running (which, I might add, I was very impressed by) is when it comes to games. Football Manager 2009, for example running very slowly. I had a peek in the Task Manager, because I play the game in a window, and the CPU usage works 100%, although I'm sure the culmination of the individual tasks and Applications is not equivalent to that (maybe there is a program hidden Hogging my CPU speed?). Call of Duty 4, which took place on medium-high graphics settings when the laptop was new, now struggles on the lower graph and the sound settings, without that there is a problem with internet connectivity. In addition, (for reference, I m not not the game breath) Battlefield 2, which is about 3-4 years of age very slowly also works. He ran too extremely fast, on the highest graphics settings when the laptop was brand new.

Basically, what I want to do, is to return the system to its original performance. It is always too slow when two hard drives were full of games and media. Now, despite the withdrawal of many of them, the system works like a sloth.

Means I ve done to solve performance problems are: disk defrag, disk clean up, error checking, virus scan (with Kaspersky), scanning of spyware (with PC tools Spyware Doctor), deleted the old files with CCleaner and erased files not deleted with a program called eraser... As well as the release of about 50% of the disk space.

Add to that, I ve noticed performance was much more when I first turn on the laptop and the sides of it n t had the chance to become hot. I understand what is normal, and he did before when the laptop was new and was operating at optimum performance, but perhaps I have an overheating problem? I'll let you know what is the temperature, but I put just t know.

I hesitate to return the system to its factory settings and if necessary I'll take to a computer store, if there is something they can do. But in the meantime I d like to listen to any advice on general issues that I face, and possible solutions to my problem.

    Thank you very much.

The problem with Windows is that it becomes slower and slower that you operate.

When the devices and programs are installed, they increase the size of the registry, activate the Services, add resident DLLS and drivers, slow down the file system by adding thousands of files. As well, the operating system can get damaged after some time due to the loss of power and software poorly written.
Even if you use CCleaner and other utilities and uninstall several programs, it is never as fast as a fresh installation of windows. Uninstalling programs rarely remove the program completely 100%.

The antivirus can have a huge effect on performance, that's why the system runs great when the image of the plant is installed (which has usually no anti-virus).

So basically if you want the system making a lot once again, you must back up your data and perform the recovery. I myself do it once a year to restore performance.

  • Satellite U400: Installation of XP and change the partitions

    Hello!

First of all, sorry for my English, it is not good, I hope you understand me!

I have a Satellite U400, and I would like to create a partition to install XP and have a dual boot with Vista.

    My first question is:
I have seen that it is possible to download all the drivers xp... but they are the only upgrade, or in the book there is not driver for Xp in default?
I need to install any drivers? And when I install it?
Immediately after the first installation of XP?

The second question is: I tried to resize the Vista partition, but Vista says it's impossible resize as much as I want to, because of file sharing and the snapshot.
Can you help me solve this problem too?

    Thank you for your support!

    Bye!

    As to the question;

(* 1) * first of all, you should check what model number you have. Driver Toshiba page provide XP drivers for 4 different U400 series.
XP drivers that are released in the page are the most recent versions and if you want to use all the features of the laptop all the XP drivers must be installed after the installation of XP operating system.

But before you try to install XP, you must include the SATA driver in XP. The SATA drivers are located in the Intel storage Manger.
Please also check this forum for more information how to include the driver SATA in XP operating system.

(* 2) * I guess you cannot shrink the partition because Vista needs a part on the partition for paging.
It is an OS feature that allows you to use the HDD as RAM temporal.

Please visit this 3rd party for more details:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/Understanding-Windows-Vista-paging-file-size/

In your case, I would leave a few more space on the partition to make sure that this feature might work properly.

  • Satellite P200 - 10G screen turns white cause driver

I was gifted a Satellite P200 - 10G, works great so far, only if I try to install the graphics driver (Intel 945 G), both that of intel and Toshiba one my screen goes black on each Windows (XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 10). It works with the standard Win drivers (except Win7).
Any ideas why this is happening. And maybe a workaround?

    Regardings

    mindscraper

If I understand the question, the laptop works properly using the standard Windows graphics driver that is part of the system and standard resolution (I guess that 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 or something like that).

But after the installation of the driver graphics card, black laptop display changes and nothing is visible on the internal display. Right?

This happens also in the external screen/monitor?
    Check it out

But to be honest, the question looks like a malfunction of the graphics card.

  • Satellite C660 - compatibility between motherboard and hard drive internal

Hi, I have a problem with the compatibility between the internal (1 terabyte) hard drive and installing windows 7 pro.
I broke my old internal hard drive (320 GB) and I bought the new hd (1 tb), but during the installation it says that w7 cannot be installed on this new hard drive.

Can my pc motherboard (serial number: 3B071014k) support the new hard drive (serial number: wd10jpvx)?
and if the answer is 'yes', how can I make it work?

First of all the question has nothing to do with the motherboard and HARD drive compatibility.
If the HARD drive is visible in the BIOS (first page), the HARD drive is supported by the BIOS and HARD disk controller.
In the case where the drive HARD isn't recognized, you will need to replace this HARD drive with another. I guess the smaller size of the 2.5 SATA HDD THAT would be taken in charge (500 GB)

However, in case the HARD disk is visible in the BIOS, you should be able to install Windows 7.
Before starting the installation, you must format the HARD drive and should create the system partition.
For this procedure, I recommend to use some tools such as partitions for example: GParted
GParted is a freeware Linux tool.
You can create a bootable USB key in order to start the device using GParted:
    http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/LiveCD.php

Then, you should be able to format the HARD disk and create partitions.

  • Satellite C50-A-1 - Win XP SATA driver needed

I would like to install windows xp, but it is impossible, that there is no driver AHCI and SATA. Already I tried to incorporate all possible, but do not work please help

Win XP drivers are not available for this model of laptop and I really don't understand why someone would want to go back to the old Win XP.
Win XP is gone... its not supported by Microsoft more and its not supported by Toshiba for this series of portable...

The installation of Win XP IMO is a bad idea...

However, try to install driver (add) the Intel AHCI which you can download from the Intel download page.

By the way: some BIOSES beginning supported the switch between the AHCI mode and compatibility mode.
Choose compatibility mode, it was possible to install Win XP without the driver SATA.

  • Installation of a dual boot for XP on a Vista - XP installation computer forget the SATA drive after restart required #1

    Hello

I'm trying to set up a dual-boot XPpro on my Vista machine.  I found the instructions detailed at various locations.  I prepared a score of 30G on my SATA drive and booted from my XPpro and XPpro (SP2) retail drives.  The score is quite small because I have only use for some applications.

I have the following problem and I wonder if anyone can help.  The disk and partition is by my SP2 disc, but it's ok that BONE is not used on any other machine.

I can choose the new partition as the location for the new installation of XP.

Installation gets to the point where the first reboot is required, then at startup, I'm stuck on the option 'press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.  I assume that the reader is not detected.  If I try to start from scratch, I get the warning that the new partition already has an operating system on it, but I can reformat and move forward, then arrive at the startup problem re.

There is no XP drivers for my Board, but I can not install them because they are on CD and the only option to load the specific drivers in the first part of install required has a diskette is in the drive, and of course I don't have a floppy drive.

I then use the Startup Repair in Vista I can't move to the stage where XP is installed in fact correctly.

    Any help very welcome!

I made a disc of slipstream with nLite as suggested, my sata drivers included but still could not circumvent this problem.  Installation kept insisting that they had to come from A:

  • You can mix SAS and SATA drives in a RAID 1 PowerEdge T110 II configuration

    Hello

I have a RAID 1 configuration and one of the two drives in the array has failed.  I've removed and replaced by another drive hoping the Dell Perc adapter H200 would rebuild the mirror automatically, but it does not.  In Server Admin OpenManage virtual disk displays as degraded.  The issue I think may be the replacement drive is SATA where the original was SAS.

Is there a way you can make the adapter accepts a SATA drive or is it simply not supported?

    SIV

    Hello.

Dell controllers, including the H200 are not supported mixing SAS, SATA or SSD in the same table. They may, however, each separately constitute a virtual disk on the same controller. Consider replacing the disk failing another identical or higher capacity SAS drive.

  • Satellite P300D-13N and Installation of XP problems (Sata driver)

    Hello

I have some problems with my XP Downgrade.
I tried to integrate the Intel Storage Manager driver in my XP CD, but unfortunately it did not work.
Probably because I've been incorporating all THE drivers, who were available, not only who should work for my chipset.
Anyway, in one of the threads of this forum, there is a link to [THIS how-to | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm] and I think I found my problem...

[Here: http://s5.directupload.net/images/080904/2eptrpzs.jpg] is a screenshot of my (sorry to make it in German) Device Manager preinstalled Vista.
As you can see, there is no information about the Version of controller.

So my question is, WHAT chipset is built into my laptop, because it is due to the fact that Intel drivers do not work AND there is no information on any Intel-inverter speed, I have no idea, I have to integrate into the XP CD to get my XP Installation working drivers. :(

    Help :(

    Hello

I recently bought an SSD (Crucial M4) for my Toshiba Satellite Pro L670 - 14M. He behaves well and certainly improves performance. However, when I test my SSD benchmarks, it reaches only about 230 - 260 MB/s reading speeds on sequential when it needs to get up to 500 MB/s as advertised.

I'm assuming it's because my SSD is running via SATA 3 gb/s, so I ask, my laptop does support SATA 6 Gbps? If not, this isn't a big disappointment, although it would be great to have up to 500 MB/s sequential read speeds for this performance gain.
