  I have the Satellite Pro P300 in front of me. I use it almost 4 weeks now and I press the Start button, very gently and keep it down to the second or two and laptop starts fine everytime I want to start it.

  Do not press the button quickly several times but slowly and keep it down for a second or two.

  I removed the HARD drive and tried to put different the a (work laptop) - still does not
  I removed the memory and tried to put different the a (work laptop) - still no job

  I have no idea what it is causing the problem.
  I have this laptop over a period of 2 months.

  I have Toshiba Satellite P300. It's almost 4 years.
  However, 3 months ago it started not not to charge the battery. I removed the battery and the computer left only with the adapter.
  Now it does not charge to one, I have to wait until electricity or sth will reach a level to start the computer.

  So, please help, if anyone has had similar problems or know the reason why and what to do.
  Maybe its adapter problem, or something wrong with the connection between the adapter and the pc. I don't know and have no money yet to check it out.

  These issues can be related to different reasons;
  -AC adapter problem
  -Question-motherboard (I especially m thinking to provide electronic problem)

  But I don't think it could be malfunction AC adapter because the laptop can lights after either a specific power level reached or laptop can start after a longer time being connected to the power adapter. Is this good?

• My Satellite P300 does not illuminate

  My Satellite P300 (PSPC4A - 03Q 018) switched on me unexpectedly while I was playing a game. I noticed he was running a little hot (it was on a level with clear vents office). I checked the time CPU. with the software and it showed levels up to 80 c while just browse Internet and up to 100 C + all playing games.

  So I blew the vents with compressed air - no change.

  After a little research, I decided to renew the thermal grease. The pulling down of some of the fat has hardened as it seems like a useful exercise. After putting together I have nothing. The only life that I had was a quick flash of the LED AC (the symbol of the plug on the front of the palm rest) when I plugged in, but that's all.

  What I've tried so far: I stripped down and everything reinstalled at least three times. This includes the processor, even if I didn't remove it at the beginning when I replaced the thermal grease. I reinstalled all the cables. I tried it with just the battery, just the AC line and at the same time. I tried to remove the RAM chips and put one by one in different locations. I tried to remove the battery and the AC, holding down the power for 30 seconds button line and try again with just the battery, just the AC line and at the same time.

  I think I either ESD'ed the card or mother or other component/s but I hope it is something much much painful/cheaper. Any suggestions?

  Sounds that something bad happened to your hardware for laptop
  Maybe the RAM modules are faulty or the motherboard.
  I think that no one here would be able to tell which part is malfunctioning.

  What to say; If you n t know what part is affected, so I recommend asking a technician for a short control, I mean it is the best step before buying parts including don t need to be replaced

  After the hardware parts have been checked, you can decide what you want to do. sell this laptop faulty or replace parts
  But the new motherboard is not cheap...

  The webcam integrated on my Satellite P300-h-13 no longer works. When I try to use it I get the following message: locked by another application. The only program on my computer that uses a webcam is MSN Messenger, Skype Yes or as some programs are not the problem.

  I saw some other threads on this subject, but those ppl had another laptop. And because I don't know that much about computers that I wasn't sure if I had to do the same steps to make repair.

  This issue is known to me because I also had, and it was solved by installing Vista SP1!

  You can resolve this follow these steps:

  Download driver Chicony Webcam drivers from Toshiba Web site section was updated. If you can't find an updated driver, try a new driver of another model of Toshiba.

  Install Service Pack 1 for Vista, or Vista Hotfix KB934374: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934374 (KB934374 is included in SP1) or the full SP1

  Update your e-mail software (MSN/Yahoo Messenger, etc...)

  If you have another program that can use the webcam (e.g. Skype), make sure that they are completely closed and not, sitting in the system tray.

  Try closing the bar Assistant camera on the left side of the office.

  To stop the Camera Assistant software from running at startup, run Regedit and delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Camera Assistant Software".

• Satellite P300 does not start because of HARD drive password

  I have a Satellite P300 laptop and it seems to be frozen.
  When I turn it on a blue box rises and requires a HARD drive password before windows turns on, but I can't type the password because there is no cursor.

  I was wondering if I have to buy a new hard drive and if I do, can get one with more capacity that it is only 149 gb?

  Not possible if your ROM BIOS module was bad flashed.
  If you are a lucky man only the ROM module must be flashed again using a special procedure. But this can be done by a service provider authorized in your country.

  My laptop no longer starts. Ive tried to access bios and reset the default settings and reboot, but it does not work (after running bios I get a black screen and no visible action on the hard drive) the day before, I had stop the laptop the right positioning so ive noticed any problem with my hard drive. Ive tried all the buttons to go to "safe mode" but it does not work. can someone help me?

  If you don t have a recovery disc and can access t the start menu Windows Advanced, you can try a normal Microsoft Windows disk to reinstall Windows.
  All the drivers and tools that you can download from the Toshiba page.

  Looks like something was wrong during the update of the BIOS.
  In this case the module ROM was flashed properly and therefore your laptop cannot start properly.

  I think the BISO ROM must be flashed again, but this can be done by a Toshiba ASP because guys have had a trad-BIOS version that is necessary to Flash the ROM module

  Hi I have a major problem:

  When starting the laptop, I have the chance to see the bios screen after that normally you should see that win 7 starts up. I get a blank, backlight screen works but no cursor blinking or what so ever.

  Ive tried the following things:

  2. ive tried inorder of key combinations possible to reach safe mode option:

  3. I remove the HARD drive and tried to boot from dvd - rom windows 7:
  -> works fine

  4. replace the HARD drive and set the bios to boot from dvd - rom only:
  -> nothing going on (white screen)

  5 ive got another laptop so I put the toshiba HARD drive and tried to see if it works:
  -> Win 7 works fine and I can get access to my HARD drive works fine and Win 7 also works very well

  6 ive the other the other laptop in the Toshiba laptop HARD drive then put it:
  -> ive got a work screen where windows vista asks to restore from a certain point (maybe cause of the difference in hardware between 2 laptops?)

  What's wrong???

  You want to reinstall the OS and want to set the laptop to factory settings?

  If Yes, then try to boot from the DVD of recovery (if created).
  If you have n t try a recovery DVDs start the installation from the HARD disk.
  The new laptops HARD drive recovery and you should be able to reinstall the OS by pressing the F8 key-> choosing fix my computer-> Toshiba Recovery
