Satellite Pro 2100: booting from a CD are works not

Hello

In our company, we use BartPE boot disk to get on the network of the company, from which we can then use Norton Ghost to the image of our PCs and laptops. It works really well. However, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 who refuses to read any bootable CD. Will TRY to read the disc, it simply cannot.

I can hear it try over and over again, but it just doesn't work. I tried to write by using different media and different CD burners, ranging down to write at a speed of 8 x, but nothing helped. Is there a problem known with the reading of the CD - Rs on this beach or model?

Tim.

Hello

To boot from the CD, you can press the C key immediately after starting the laptop.
In addition, it would be very interesting to know if it is also not possible to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

    Hello

I have a MS PRO 2100 who * was * running Win XP Pro SP1 with Celeron 2 GHz, 512 MB of Ram and 30 GB HARD drive. Bought in early 2003, so out of warranty. I tried to install SP2 on a CD of MS, but got bored after a while and leave the machine unattended. I returned about half an hour later to find the machine apparently tried to start in SP2. 10 minutes later the start screen was still, but the machine would not start. (The HARD drive light was active overall, as it has been in the following scenarios).

To cut a long story short, I tried Safe Mode and fix Installation without joy, before giving up in the belief that SP2 has been the problem. Data has been backed up and I have a full copy of XP Pro SP2, spare, so I thought I would do a clean install. Booted from the XPSP2 CD and tried to format HARD drive. Hung at 0% formatted for 20 minutes before I stopped.

Subsequently tried recovery CD product, which seemed installs correctly, including the replacement of the partition, that I had to destroy when I tried to format the HARD drive. Little difference in the startup problem - now it slowly boots as much as the start screen for XP SP1 and does not move for several minutes, until a BSOD pops up with the technical element of the message (all on one line) STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000006, 0x80658CAA, 0xF8954704, 0xF8954404)

'Start-up' safe mode now consists of a scrolling list intermittently from drivers who stop on agp440.sys for awhile before the BSOD appears, as indicated above.

My apologies for the length of the post. I think that sounds pretty terminal but if anyone can shed any light on it I would appreciate it greatly.

    Merry Christmas!

    Rayan Jim

    Hello

Sounds strange! I would try to start the computer with a startup disk (which can be downloaded at www.bootdisk.info) and run fdisk and chkdsk.exe to scan the HARD drive!

Also, you should check the settings of the BIOS and new st failing!

    Try and keep me posted!

  • Satellite Pro 2100 is really really slow running

    I have a satellite pro 2100 I killed a friend.
He said his brother gave him and that he had no idea what was wrong because he didn't have a chance to watch it.

I put windows xp pro top and used the bottom of the laptop pro license key.

but the laptop is really really slow.
It may take up to 5 minutes for nothing I click to open up.

the strange thing is the laptop works fine in safe mode, can open things like I should.

but in normal windows mode, it slows down to a crawl and even crashes.

I have trie all to my knowledge.
I even uninstalled and turn off the graphics drive that I thought that he maybe, but he always does.

I tried multiple copies different from xp pro and even tried a copy of vista, but still the same.

He had 2 different lots of tried in ram, 2 sticks was new aswel. I tried 3 different hard drives and still the same.

My thoughts are that the integrated graphics card is exhausted.

can anyone else confirm this? Certainly this isn't a software issue because I tried a few different copies of xp and vista. IM about to bin it now.

    > anyone can confirm this?
Don t think someone could confirm everything that is related to a malfunction of the equipment.
Here in the forum, we can talk about problems and makers of disorders, but no one will be able to say with certainty what's going wrong here.

First laptop computer is an oldie.
The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 CPU, isn t a up to date CPU and in my opinion, that don't expect too much performance.

I put t know how this camera supports memory but everything below 1 GB of Ram would be good enough to the smooth running of the laptop.

However, given that the unit works much faster saving mode, I guess there must be a hardware related problem.

  • A few questions regarding the hardware upgrade and the games on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hey,.

I thought that posting this here because it's more about the lines for the games I could think on another topic.

I'll get to the point... Basically, I bought a laptop from a guy that my friend knew. He barely used this laptop and didn't know anything about computers, and he tried to avoid as much as possible. So he got rid of this laptop for me for real cheap.

Now I got it, I had expected either of two things with the laptop.

    (1) what I'll use it so I can sit in his bed and travel a little bit while having files, movies, music and internet access. (it wasn't my main idea)

    Or

    (2) it allows to play video games on it, or to update, so I have a better chance to do so.

I was hoping to get for video games, mainly for my brother to use because his computer is lagging a lot while playing world of Warcraft. I was hoping that this notebook would give him a better experience for a while.

But as I was installing the game on this, I noticed that the disk space is low, so I'm going to buy an external hard drive, so I can send files between the PC and the laptop, and I got an error message saying that the RAM was under "minimum requirements" for WoW.

So I know that I got to level it with something big, but I know not what, so I'm not quite sure that this laptop will run the game at a decent rate. So I thought that I turn to a computer forum and ask.

    It's my laptop;
    [Satellite Pro 2100 PS210E | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 45659 ie]

This laptop will do the job don't you think?
Or it will be better for simpler things, or less if I had the ram to 1gig?

I don't know much on the laptop, and I'm not really willing to spend too much on fixing, if it's just a change of the ram, then it wouldn't cost much for than to upgrade around 1gig.

    Hello

First of all, I must say that this notebook belongs to an older series laptop.
It was equipped with the 1.8 Celeron CPU, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB or 30 GB HARD drive and a 16MB graphics card internal.

What you can do is upgrade the RAM up to 1 GB (2 x 512 MB) and the HARD drive. But I think that the maximum size of HARD drive that would be recognized by the BIOS is 120 GB.
I think that the laptop supports one IDE controller and it limited because of the 28-bit LBA HARD drive size.

So finally, it is important to mention that you can not pass the graphics card because it s soldered onto the motherboard. Upgrading the CPU is not possible or very difficult.

I come to the conclusion that you will not be able to play games of new generation on this machine. The hardware specs are maybe too low a few simple games would run on this laptop but I'm sure that other newer games will not run smoothly.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite Pro 2100 two cables behind the screen

Hi, first post so be gentle with me please.

I have a Satellite Pro Satellite Pro 2100 and the hinges are shot, so I bought a 2100 piece to Exchange.
Everything was ok except that I have two sons that I can't find a place to plug in. A black white and they are attached to the small square gold Ribbons that are glued to each top corner at the back of the screen. The other ends have little, but when I stripped the laptop they were in bulk and I do not see where they are going.

However, the laptop works fine without them.
    Can anyone help please?

All laptops with WLAN have this. WLAN antenna is placed behind the screen and these two wires must be connected to the WLAN antenna.

If your laptop doesn't have WLAN card put just the cables aside and everything will be OK.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - upgrade - upgrade memory RAM

    Hello together!

    For your information:

Upgrade memory today to 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1.9 GH, 256 MB DDR - RAM initially), both up to 1 GB, all fine and no problems.

Wanted to just end rumors "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If you are looking for, don't forget to think of the specifications:

    DDR-266 (PC2100)
    DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
    200 PINS
    2.5 CL

concerning the frequency of the RAM, building shape etc.

    Greetings

    L0nestar

P.S.: Don't think that a debate is necessary, thread could be closed...

According to the specifications of the computer laptop Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have confirmation on the RAM upgrade for this model of laptop old but still good.

    Good day.

  • Update BIOS on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 2100 (model #: PS210E-0053R-EN) and recently bought two 256 sticks of RAM for it, which according to the manufacturer, are compatible. They do not work, and I have I'll return them, but before the company was asked to take certain measures, i.e. to retest them and also update the Bios. I have never updated a BIOS before and am a little worried about something bad, or choose the wrong update.

No one knows who is right on the section of the site? I know there's a Satellite Pro 2100, but which is compatible with all the models of this laptop?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Satellite Pro 2100 comes with two different processors (cel or PIV) but the model number is the same (PS210E). This means that you can use the update of the BIOS for both models.

I recommend you do traditional BIOS update using the floppy drive. As described on the page of the Toshiba BIOS update, it is very important that you refer to the Description of the Toshiba BIOS update before you continue.

I copied and turned on my main pc, DVD for playback on psp son - they work fine and I can play the files converted from disk on pc using quicktime. However, when I try to play the dvd on the laptop it does not recognize the drive. Someone at - it help him?

    Hello

I found information on the drive that came with this laptop.
It s compatible with these media:
    CD-ROM, CD - R, CD - RW, CD-ROM/XA,
    CD Extra, CD-DA, DVD-ROM, DVD-video

Well, it is possible that your drive doesn't support current DVD media.

  • Can I get my satellite Pro 2100 high-speed USB 2.0?

I have a new MP3 Jukebox that can operate at USB 2.0. Do anything to get my Satellite Pro 2100 to work at speed 2.0 that it currently only works with USB 1.1? Sorry, but I'm not very technical.
    Hope someone can advise me
    See you soon
    Bob

    Hi Bob

The best solution for you is to buy a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card. As far as I know there are cards with two or four USB ports. This card is not expensive and the installation is not complicated.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100; battery (probably) problem

About a year ago and a half year I bought the Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100. Every thing worked perfect up what a month ago, and then my adapter not workt more. With a multimeter I discovered it was broken, so I bought a new (from you guys)

But 2 weeks later a new was also broken. Then I used my father's map (it has the same specifications) which merged in 1 week.

What is going on? Where is the problem. I think it's my battery.

    Hello

It seems that your adapter is damaged by the oscillation of voltage.

I can't image the laptop that has the same voltage as the AC damaged HQ with a swing of voltage!

IF you wish, you can contact a Toshiba Service partner. They can check the power supply, I have the laptop and HQ.

    Bye Bob

  • Satellite Pro 2100: Quick fix does not work with Win XP SP2

pilots quickfix for win xp on my toshiba satellite pro 2100 does not say pilots should xp without service Pack 2.
Are there drivers for Windows XP service pack 2?

Please do not mix the pilots and quickfixes. Install Windows XP SP2 home edition on your laptop, install the drivers for the chipset, screen, sound, LAN and other hardware components.

When you are finished connect your laptop to the Internet, make windows update, restart your computer, and enjoy your life.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - Exchange optical drive

    Hello!

I m a proud owner of a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1.9 GH). Already done HDD Upgrade (as already said) of 250 GB and 512 MB RAM upgrade.
Now, I want to upgrade the DVD-ROM in a DVD burner. I heard the fact, slimline drives are jumperset by the firmware, not the real riders.

Can someone tell me weather I need to buy a "rider" master drive or a slave - drive "rider"? Or is it possible to replace the drive with a cable-select-disk?

Toshiba-readers are always 'closed' to enter computers laptop toshiba? All the optics of toshiba notebooks readers bridge the same?
Would be happy to receive some answers :-)

    L0nestar

    Hello Lonestar

AFAIK all optical disk drives cannot be used with all portable models. There must be a difference with assignment of pins. Because of this, you must use only compatible disks. I have the same info as you. All readers are already "closed."

I checked the user s manuals document. There are several compatible with your model of laptop sides, but none of them is DVD burner. It can be really hard to find the compatible DVD burner.

  • Satellite Pro 2100: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hello
ICH have a Satellite Pro 2100 with a capacity of 40 GB HDD. Now I want wo upgrate with a 100 GB or 120 GB HARD drive. Is it supported? Where is the upper limit of the capacity of support? Is there something I need to look out? Are there special attributes that am I looking for?

prior to thank you for your support

    Hello

It is very unlikely that the 100 or 120 GB HARD drive works.
I guess that the BIOS will not recognize these hard disks.
I don't officials documents found on the hard drives supported, but I think that the 60 GB HARD drive is the biggest HARD drive that works on the Satellite Pro 2100.

the second location of memory perhaps is the problem.
Try to start with a module in the second slot, first an empty slot.
