Satellite Pro 4600 dark screen

Hello

I use an old satellite pro 4600. If I try to use them in the operation of the line, the screen is always black. Even if I press the sleep button, it becomes only completely briefly (1-2 seconds) sound, then immediately again darkly. If I use them on akku, it works. Will be - it only occasionally after dark, can however still vivid be squeezed. I also feel he crosses with online operation more power than akku. Is this a problem of attitude or the laptop needs to be repaired? Thank you very much for your answers!

I had to same problem with my laptop A100... It is very annoying. Can someone give some answers please?

    Guys, I really need help.

I picked up on old satellite pro 4600 eBay and have rebuilt the thing - everything works EXCEPT the screen - I get a very small image, even on the start screen.

So far I have - changed the cable lcd - no effect. changed the Panel itself, no effect and inverter (4 times!).

Any suggestions? Driver problem? Setting I missed somewhere? Motherboard problem?

Hmmm. My first thought was the faulty FL inverter.
Are you sure you used the right and compatible FL inverter? A connect it correctly?

What about the keys FN + F6/F7? It allows to set the brightness to a higher level?

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 problems

Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 is usually a large equipment once it works! I have bought in December 2001 + additional 2 year warranty. Used every day for a business purpose - mainly on a desk anchored to the Port Replicator or inside-out of the office with WiFi.

Almost after a year I bought it - one of the memory locations died on the motherboard! A machine still worked OK - only on a slot with installed memory capacity! So the 256 MB of memory and motherboard have been replaced by September 2002.

Then the hard drive was noise - has been replaced as a guarantee somewhere in October 2004. So I thought that it is her - I have now a few years without problem again!

Yes - all of a sudden a few days ago, I closed the lid for a coffee brake and after that the machine woke up to a strange sleep - the screen flickered and a machine was muzzy! Like the previous night failures that occurred before that I thought that this restart will solve the problem! It s woke up without the support of the voice! And after that I discovered that the WiFi card is always on - no matter if you switch the button on or off! If the service said that probably the motherboard has not once again!

So, which brand and model to buy then?

    > And after that I discovered that the WiFi card is always enabled.
    > - no matter switch you on or off! So that the
    > service provided that said probably the
    > motherboard has yet again!

same thing with my nine M30 I bought last summer. I can't be able to turn off the WiFi keyboard functionality. the light is still on too.

  • Resume the failed Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello

I get a message "Press any key to resume failure continues" every time I powere to the top of my Satellite Pro 4600. It then remains on a white screen and I am unable to do anything. Someone at - it suggestions on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

Check if the BIOS is set to RESUME (function that remember have been closed and continue on this same place).

To do this: when the TOSHIBA logo is shown be very quickly press the ESC key a short time.
You should get an error message and press F1 to enter BIOS. Search for Power-up mode (or something very similar). Set it to BOOT.

If it is already set to BOOT, or it does not help, try pressing the reset button when the screen is empty as you say. You should find it on the, I think that, left side of the machine. Look closely on the sides. You should find a small hole.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro 4600 very unstable and BSOD

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 c750/128 with xp installed.
It was ok, but slow, so I've updated at 500 MB of memory.

He now became unstable under windows and throw a screen blue after awhile, which is a related, but firm and we will restart until I have a chance to read the error message.

I tested the new memory from one day to the next with memtest and run 4 passes all tests without error, about 9 hours of operation (on the back).

The event log indicates a discharge, but this does not mean a lot to me.
The event log has an error during startup, what was there before the memory upgrade.
Googling Sugest a fix to update the bios, it's always available for this laptop bios?

The BIOS should be available for this former Satellite Pro 4600.
The BIOS and drivers must be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.
Here, you will need to search the Archives!

But I doubt that the error is caused by the BIOS.
Is the laptop ran stable also with the previous BIOS and it foolish to update the BIOS to fix this problem.
I'm sure it won't change anything!

Upgrade the RAM and BSOD appears now.
I think that the problem is related to the RAM, even if the ram test didn't find any errors
The RAM may be not compatible also if no error has been detected.

I recommend that you test the laptop without the new RAM and check if the BSOD will appear again.

  • Satellite Pro 4600: BSOD when I use the PCMCIA of Vodafone card

I want to use UMTS on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. I got a card PCMCIA of Vodafone and installed with all updates.

But if I want to use UMTS, and that means launching the application and connect to Vodafone, Windows stops with a blue screen:
    DRIVER_IRQL_not_less_or_equal STOP 0 x 0... D1, 0 X 0... 00, 0 x 0... 02, 0 x 0... 00, 0 x 0... 00.

I think that the assignment of IRQS is not so good: http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/7151/toshibamw0.jpg

    Hello

Have you checked if this happens with every PCMCIA card?
I noticed that the Vodafone card causes BSOD on some portable computers with CPU P4 s and activated the hyper-threading technology.

But there is also a problem with the firmware card Vodafone.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 ACPI Bios error

    Hello

I have a Satellite pro 4600. When I started today the machine displays a blue screen stating that the acpi bios is not fully compliant and does not start in windows. He suggests the update of the bios I did to version 2.6, but still no luck, wont let me in in either safe mode

    Any help is appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

Until you want to start the operating system please check the BIOS settings and set it to ACPI > Enabled. Don't forget that your BIOS supports ACPI option. If there is no success the only solution is to reinstall the operating system and don t change BIOS settings after installation.

Before the start of the operating system the hardware will be verified by Windows. I hope that your update of the BIOS is to download site of Toshiba and designed for your device.

Y at - it a special procedure for the Assembly of the larger disks?

The BIOS recognizes the HARD drive correctly?

Perhaps the size of the HARD drive is too big and so you have a few problems with the laptop.

The fact is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported and the BIOS recognizes all drives, if the size is too large. Therefore, you should try a smaller HARD drive

  • Playing DVDs on Satellite Pro 4600

Hi - I installed a dvd player for my satellite pro 4600. When I play a dvd movie on my laptop it seems to be very out of sync and "stuttering". can anyone offer advice to help me read DVDs without problem.

    Hi Tommy

Check please, processes running in the background. If there are some not necessarily ongoing process, it may be responsible for the lower speed of the processor. It may be a virus scan application that analyzes the HARD drive permanently and can be the reason of "stutter" picture on your screen.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - CPU overheating graphics card?

16 days ago my tosh Satellite Pro 4600 has lost the ability to maintain 25 fps in a game online - IE. Diablo 2.
He now plays to an average of 4 frames per second and ping gets up to more than 4,000... Needless to say that now, unplayable...

I reinstalled the game... installed new XP and game on the D drive...
Same thing... a program called SpeedswitchXP shows CPU use fluctuating 54 to 420, because the clocked processor slot general tab of my computer displays 422 now, not the 847 mhz it used to.

Still, he surfed on the net and plays yahoo games of cards for example. at lightning speed, but not a rpg online... there work perfectly at 25 fps on average for 3 years... Irretrievably overheating / damaged CPU, graphics card?
Anyone know? Another temp. program shown running at 64 c is worth a new motherboard?

I can get one? Any ideas?

    Hello

First of all, he should know that the processor and GPU performance are dynamically.
This means that the speed and the performance changes if the temperature reaches a critical threshold.
This could lead to performance degradation.

In your case, the laptop is about 3 years old and I think that it s time to clean the fans to prevent the notebook from overheating.

You can try to use the jet of professional compressed air to get rid of dust and debris.
Such spays you can buy computer retailer.

  • Cannot change the contrast, brightness, etc. on Satellite Pro 4600. Help please.

I can't control the contrast, brightness, Saturation etc... using the control panel of Trident in my Satellite Pro 4600. Could someone help me to activate these controls?
    Thanks in advance
    Andrea

    Hello Andrea,

normally, you can change this settigs in the Panel, but to explain the way to change this would be nice to know what operating system you have installed.

If you have the perinstalled Os, it might be that you have Win2000.

    Win2000:

Go to the control panel - display - Advanced control and then you could choose between video, color or television.

The Brightess could be changed to energy-saving, because the brightness depends on your setting of power.
Battery high brightness mode could reduce your battery power!

  • Satellite Pro 4600, memory upgrade

I have twice had problems trying to upgrade memory to my Satellite Pro 4600, so I decided to ask directly if Kingston KTC-SO133/256 MB is compatible with this machine?

It's the SODIMM I'm about to try next, but I have to pay for it first.

Problems were that the SODIMM modules is not compatible with the wonderful piece of memory or it won't work at all with Toshiba.

Is there an availave list what type of bars of memory are compatible?

Sorry, I can tell you that I use the Original from Toshiba 'PA3069U - 1 M 25' memory (its a KIT of MEMORY of 256 MB)

    works great!
