Satellite Pro L - Assistant 'connect to computer' does not

Hello

I have a new laptop 'Satellite Pro L Series' and'm having problems connecting to my workplace using the Internet and a VPN connection I've implemented in Windows.

I was advised I need to connect my new computer on our LAN Server via the function "http://Server/connectcomputer" However, I can't do this work, as whenever I try, I get a message saying that I have a connection or an open window. The problem is, that there is no (other than my LAN) connection open, and no other windows are open. I disabled my Bluetooth and Wireless connections in Device Manager and remove my VPN. After that I restarted the computer laptop, but to no avail.

I get the error message is in a "Small Business Server Network Configuration Wizard" window and says "the Network Setup Wizard cannot complete because you have an open connection (for example, a network connection or Windows Explorer window) with the Small Business Server computer." Close all connections and windows and re-run the Network Setup Wizard,"the only option then is to select the OK button.

I rang my Toshiba and IT consultant, but they are at a loss, as I am. Can someone point me in the direction I should go?

Thank you.

>... connection at my place of work using a VPN and Internet
Please don t get me wrong, but it should be clarified with your company and your network administrator. I use VPN connectivity too and it has been configured and tested by the network administrator.

In society, we test network and before I've had my laptop for use at home, it has been tested and confirmed that he has no problem with the VPN connection.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I put t think that Toshiba can help you with this. If you have a problem with the operation of the equipment Ok but I don t think they can help you with some internal stuff from the company.

You have a few general problems with network functionality on your laptop?

    I have a new satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E - 01E00VIT, and I find this problem:

Sometimes (not always: maybe it depends on which program is running) in trying to put the computer to sleep or into hibernation, it does not stop, but only stop the monitor (Panel), while the fan goes on and the power light is green. Of course, a lot of energy consumption of battery!

Then there is no other way to take off the computer by pressing the power button for a long time... but this is not correct!
NB: my computer is always connected to a local network, and generally there are some browser windows open when I put it in stand-by mode.

    How can I fix?
    jomurray

You must update the BIOS and must always close the programs and applications that ruin on the laptop before activating the standby mode or hibernation would be.

I have not though as the configuration standard of Toshiba, but that shouldn't matter. I'm running WinXP SE, but the drivers for my card ATI is about two years old and I can not find a suitable one anywhere, this is the problem, or should I program utility ATI?

    Best regards!

    Hello

You should also check the TV settings. You must choose the right channel.
As in the previous announcement suggested, you can change the display device using the FN + F9 key combination.
If you want to play the DVD with the WinDVD player for example if you first need to change the output of the TV and then start the WinDVD.

  • Satellite Pro L300-1FL - WLAN network adapter does not exist

    Model: Satellite Pro L300-1FL (PSLB9E)
    Operating system: XP Pro SP2
    Wireless card: PA3616u-1mpc (atheros AR5007)

the laptop came with pre-installed vista, everything worked very well (including wireless), although a little slowly, but decided to downgrade to xp. integrated SATA drivers into my xp with nlite installation disc. XP installed fine. visited the toshiba support site and downloaded all the drivers for xp and install.

Despite the installation of the wireless driver there is still no present in the wireless network card device driver. It is an "unknown" device listed, which I think is the wireless card.

at first I was not sure what card appeared so systematically installed that all options of wlan of the toshiba download page [intel/atheros/realtek], none has worked. little more digging autour and discovery was a then reinstalled atheros atheros wlan client on the toshiba site. still did not work. found a update atheros ar5007 driver installed, still no joy.

forward wireless switch is on [the orange light] and has been throughout the process. have you tried enabling / disabling fn + F8, which doesn't do anything.

I think I read somewhere (having read much too many post on this over the last few days!) that update the BIOS to version 2.4 can solve the problem. However the version offered for my model by the toshiba page BIOS update is 2.1 (which I've updated when you install all drivers in xp) and I'm not that eager to update the BIOS to a version that is not supported by toshiba, because I have no idea how fix an incorrect BIOS prevents starting the computer.

When you look at the BIOS option "wake we wireless" is grayed out and not selectable. There is no other network without wire/related parameters. This might infer that the BIOS does not recognize the card wireless for some reason any. whereas he should have before, I started to lose its time, as worked it fine under vista wireless. so I think that upgrading the BIOS might have broken, although I can't be sure that I've updated the BIOS until I realize that the without wire did not work under XP, so it could have been broken before the BIOS update. Does this sound plausible? also, I have no idea how if is take to solve this - you can downgrade the BIOS?

any help greatly appreciated - have been pulling on my hair for 2 days now and there is only so much googling, you can do before find yourself you constantly re - visiting the same sites over and over again!

    Thank you

    ~ andy

worried that he may have been conflict for different drivers wlan I had initially installed, so have done a complete re - format and re-installation of xp. Install the drivers, including the wlan driver atheros. but still no adapter wlan in Device Manager.

the unknown device in the other section of the Device Manager is listed as an ethernet controller; However glancing upward from the PCI/VEN # (C & DEV_001C 168) on the basis of data from the provider PCI identifies that this is indeed the atheros card.

This means that it is not a hardware/BIOS problem as I previously suspected. XP can 'see' the device, but for some reason, the driver won't work. Hmm

someone at - it had a similar problem? is it just a matter of finding the "correct" driver

    Thank you

  • Satellite Pro S500-139 - FN + F9 key does not have to turn off the touchpad

    Hello

I use a Satellite Pro S500-139 and am having problems with my F9 key. When I tap my palm touches the mouse and send the cursor somewhere else on the page. I reinstalled the ALPS pointing device and now have access to the Advanced setting that I was not able to get.

Although I can set the sensitivity etc. I would really be able to use the shortcut to disable the mouse momentarily while typing. My keyboard shows that, if I press fn and F9 the i should be able to disable the mouse but the function does not work. F9 all other functions seem to work.

Do you know if there is a solution to this?

    Hello

The problem is that your laptop supports the SATA HDD controller but the system OS does not contain the SATA drivers
You can assign in the compatible SATA mode BIOS.
This allows you to install the operating system without installation of the SATA drivers.

  • Satellite Pro P100-465 CD/DVD drive does not.

My Satellite Pro is new and I was very happy with it until I started one day find my CD/DVD drive not recognized.

The CD/DVD drive is not displayed in Device Manager is?

    Can anyone help please?

    Hello

I'm not an expert so take what I say with a large pinch of salt and check again! I have a similar problem with my A100 except the works of CD tray very well but the machine will not play some DVD and won't play any CD several people have suggested that download ITunes affects your registry files and shortly after that the machine does not recognize the CD/DVD driver.

The error message that said something like: "i/o device error".

Have you tried to download a new driver? I have that have not yet done and came here to seek to verify this info myself.

Anyone else heard about Itunes affecting your laptop in anyway?

  • Satellite Pro U400 - sound of the wheel does not work anymore

The wheel of sound control in my Satellite Pro U400 works not properly since last month.

Now, I have to use the volume bar in Vista to adjust properly. When I try to lower the volume by turning the wheel, as I did before, he constantly increases the volume after reducing to a few percent. If I flip it is very very slow, sometimes it decreases the volume a little, but other times it increases. Also when I'm in a word processor, turn the wheel to the right input 'c' character ' on the screen.
There is no problem when I try to increase the volume, it does its job.

Do you think it is related to hardware or can it be a problem of driver or something. Is there a solution?

    Thank you

  • Satellite Pro A300D - reinstalled XP - now its does not work

Recently, I had a virus on my laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A300D-14O, which meant that I had to take it to get reinstalled Windows.
This tech guy who I gave it to a do.

However, now, the sound does not seem to work properly.
The volume on the laptop wheel itself does nothing.
I tried to open Control Panel to check the sounds and audio devices, but I could not change anything in the boxes.

I tried to download a driver from toshiba Web site was updated, but I thought that it could not find the device driver support.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

You must install the Win XP SP3!
This package must be installed BEFORE installing the audio driver.

    Install SP3
Then remove the audio driver (already installed) system
Go to Device Manager and remove the sound chip of the list of devices
    Restart the device
Now reinstall the sound card driver.

Should work as it worked in my case as well

  • Re: Satellite Pro A100 PSAA3E: after XP installation does not work

    Hello

    I recently bought a psaa3e Satellite Pro A100.
I formatted and installed Win XP. Everything works except the sound.
In Device Manager its shows a PCI device problem.

I think I need the pci to install before my sound card is recognized.
I could be wrong and often am installed all drivers I could find on this site for my laptop.
Any suggestions please, its driving me crazy.

    brgds

    spadger

    The solution is simple.
After installing Xp, you must install all the service packs. SP2 is important.
In addition, you will need to upgrade the XP to the last State. All fixes and patches must be installed also.
The * KB888111 * and * KB835221 hotfix * must be installed before installing the audio driver.

After installing the hotfix, restart the computer, and then reinstall the audio driver!

    Good luck

    (1) Windows 7 Upgrade disc
    (2) Toshiba Win7 Drivers Upgrade drive

    Hello

What model of laptop do you have?

Have you tried to choose another model instead of your laptop model?
    Do this!

  • Satellite Pro P200: Reinstalled audio driver - microphone does not work

Satellite Pro P200, bought Jan 2008.

Managed to disable onboard intervene somehow, trying to disable them so that when I got the USB speakers loud the built-ins would not interfere with the sound.

    Driver installed P200_X200_Audio_Vis3264_6015477_1.exe.

Speakers work fine now - microphone is not.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Dave

Did you check the audio settings in Windows Vista?
Maybe the microphone is muted or the volume is at the lowest level. Did you check that?

In addition, I would recommend reinstall the sound card driver. Remove the old version first and then restart the computer and install the latest version on the Toshiba site.

You use the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows?
