Satellite Pro L20 - looking for a better battery

Hello
You just bought a Satellite Pro L20, am a little disappointed at the time of the battery, I was wondering where to find the best/most long duration batteries for it, if there is such a thing?

See you soon

Hello

Well, battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. The use of the high-performance notebook reduces the battery working time.
In addition, you should check the watch tool Toshiba. There are different modes of battery that you can use. The right mode increases battery working time.

Good bye

    Hello

This problem occurs in the mode Windows safe?
Use own graphics cards drivers in windows safe mode and if this doesn t matter are present in safe mode so I guess it could be a graphics driver. But if this problem persists in safe mode then it s a hardware malfunction.
In this case, the only way to solve it is to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country.

    Hello

It's strange, but what message you get Windows exactly?
If I disable the WIFI using the hardware switch I get only the message that the portable peut t connect to my preferred wireless network but all that s.

An alternative you can also disable/enable WLAN using FN + F8 key combination.
In addition, I would try to update the driver WLAN you can find on the Toshiba site.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite Pro L20 - 30 mins of battery

I used the manual of instructions, looked up and followed the instructions for the rehabilitation of the battery, i.e. run battery discharged, recharge, etc., but he did not make a difference.

I've had the laptop for almost 2 years through the company I work for unofrtunately get any kind of it, support the it guy is like getting blood out of a stone - I would get groans able to ask the question.

Any help/advice would be really appreciated.

    Hello

Usually battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. If high performance applications run on the laptop, the battery working time breaks down.

If I understand correctly, the laptop and the battery is abut 2 years old.
To my knowledge after about 500 charge/discharge procedures time decrease the battery performance.
My laptop is about 3 years old and I can use my battery for about 20-30 minutes also.
My second Notebook battery died completely. I use this laptop only with the AC adapter / CC. In my opinion is nothing unusual.

You can compare this situation to battery for laptop with mobile phone batteries.
After several times that it of necessary to replace the battery.

    Best regards

  • Driver LAN for Satellite Pro L20 Windows 2000

I am looking for a local network (ethernet) drive to my Satellite Pro L20, who has Windows 2000 on it.
I found one for WiFi, but not for the Ethernet (cable/CAT).

    Hello

Well, you can t find all the LAN for Win2000 drivers on the Toshiba page because this unit has been delivered and tested with the Windows Xp operating system.
However, I found the information that the appliance has a CL LAN Realtek 8100.
In this case, I guess for visit the site Web of Realtek. You can find a compatible driver for this network adapter.

  • Cannot charge battery on my Satellite Pro L20

I have a satellite Pro L20 and I can't charge my battery why? Is there someone for help please?

    Hello

Why? It is not easy to say, but it may be because of the faulty electronic power.

Remove the battery, connect the laptop to the power adapter and switch it on. When the operating system starts, put the battery inside and let us know exactly what is happening.

It will be interesting to know if the battery is correctly recognized and what's with battery LED.

  • Satellite Pro L20: battery not charge when the power adapter is connected

    Hello

    all advice appreciated.

I had a Satellite Pro L20 for about 18 months. Recently, battery does not charge when the power adapter is connected. The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile. However the ACPI often said that AC is "offline."

There are two recent occurrences that coincide with this problem, I try to eliminate:

    1. my friends rat chewed by the feeder for pets! Power is Mobile OK insofar as he fled sector - the rat seems to have simply chewed by the outer cover (I see some threads, but I think that is just a shield, although I'm not an electrician).

    2. I put the laptop in hibernation for the first time. That seemed to mess up the system a bit, which was what initially drew my attention to the problem. This question is a bit complicated because I'm under Linux (Xubuntu).

I updated the drivers etc from windows when I bought the laptop. Never had any problems until now and have been running linux for centuries. Also, I have mainly the laptop the power supply turned off, but do not remove the battery (is that really a problem these days?)

I obviously need to replace the adapter, but is - it is likely (and how I can check) that the battery was borked until?

    see you soon
    Chris

First, please check if the other are lit.
If the AC led and power led are on the adapter sector is ok and it provides the power to the laptop.

    > The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile
If the battery LED is yellow, this means that the battery is not fully charged and if the Green led changes then recharging is caught and the battery has been recharged.

So I really don t see any problems with the charge process.

Maybe the battery is old and so you cannot use it for an extended in such a case only the replacement of the battery could help.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - CPU / battery upgrade

    Hi all

I have a L20 the Satellite with the Celeron 360 Pro. I have seen that you can get another satellite pro L20s running Pentium m 730 1.6GHZ CPU. I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the processor in this machine. The power of thermal design of the Celeron is 21W which is slightly lower than that of the Pentium-M 27W, but should not running too hot as it has speedstep, the only problem is that the Pentium versions seem to have Intel graphics and the Celeron have ATI x 200, it's a different motherboard or the same?

If anyone knows if the upgrade is possible can you please post and let me know. Thank you!
Also, I noticed there is a battery 4300mAh who would last longer 200mAh battery I have, it works on 14.8V where as mine is 14.4V would this work in my laptop, im assuming that it should?

Maybe this thread will help you to get more information on the upgrade of CPU:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=14578&MessageID=53251

User Grze22gorz went the Celeron M for Pentium M processor and the system works properly.

    Additional threads;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=21723&MessageID=80082

I found the part number of the battery (8 cell, 4300mAh): PA3420U-1BRS Toshiba Option European and accessories site and it s certainly consistent with Sat L20 and Satellite Pro L20

  • Need of repair for CD-rom update on Satellite Pro L20

    Hello
Is there anywhere I can download a repair manual for Satellite Pro L20 that I just bought a dvdrw drive & want to adapt it myself

    TIA

    Hello

Unfortunately, you won't find manuals repair on the Toshiba site. Only Toshiba service partners have such documents and the ability to use laptop manuals.
As far as I know, the reader is fixed with a screw that is placed at the bottom of the unit and under the keyboard.
After the withdrawal of these two screws, you can disconnect an optical drive to the connector on the system board.

But without any experience, you must remove all readers. I think you should ask the service of Toshiba for help because he has more experience in such cases

  • What is the part number for Toshiba for Satellite Pro L20

    Hello

I put t know what number you mean exactly, but there are several different models of Satellite Pro L20 what different numbers.
All the necessary details and all the serial numbers, you will find on the label that was placed at the bottom of the unit. Please check this box.

  • Necessary recovery for my Satellite Pro L20 CD

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with Windows XP.
I made a CD of recovery for him and there is no partition separately to install the system from it.

So now, even though I own a license number, I can reinstall my system. I called the company that has exclusive rights to Toshiba in my country, and they say that they n t have this recovery CD anymore (my knees is around 3 years - so it s not that old right?) and that s their last word on this situation.

Is someone can you please tell me where can I get this recovery CD? I can buy it anywhere?

    Thank you
    Mihai

    Hello Mihai

As far as I know Satellite Pro L20 comes with recovery CD and there is no option for the creation on the new laptop models. This option doesn't exist.
You wrote, it is the oldest model of laptop and I can imagine this company doesn t have for this model of laptop recovery media.

Toshiba recovery media can be ordered under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but I'm not sure that you will be able to order it for this older model laptop, but you can check it out.
If you will not be able to order the original Toshiba recovery media, you can install WXP using the facilities of Microsoft CD. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba supports the page.

One more thing: number on the bottom is for the recovery image and cannot be used with each installation of Windows XP Home edition CD.

If you need assistance with installing WXp let us know.

  • Re: Is my Win XP too old for Satellite Pro L20

    Hi guys

This is the first time on a forum, so please be nice.
I'm trying to re - install the OS on my toshiba Satellite Pro L20 and chipset specifications requires:

Windows * XP 5.10.2600 (original version)

I have Windows XP home 2002 which seems to be 5.1.2600.

I've never done this before and I'm trying to rebuild the laptop for my father in law to use.

My version of windows is too old for this? I have an error message asking me to check the system requirements in the readme file

    Thank you

No, it is certainly not too old ;)

Maybe your XP disk contains SP2 or other patches, but it's not really bad.
You can update everything after installing Windows.

After installing windows, you could install the Toshiba drivers that you might find on the European driver Toshiba page.
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

Please note; You should also research * Archives * area the driver page if you won't find anything in field of laptops
