Satellite Pro L40-15 - Win XP installation problems

Hello

I have updated the BIOS to version 5.1 for Win XP. Now the bios sees the SATA in ATA drive. I checked the POST screen. However for some reason any when I try to install Win XP, it shows that no hard drive has been detected. This intrigues me. Should I remove installation of Vista and this additional partition that is on the HARD drive? I prepared myself iso image of XP with SATA drivers, but I prefer not to play with this a whole just install XP and remove that Vista.

Someone has an idea of what I could do?

To be clear: you must use the Windows XP CD edition SP2 family facilities.
When you start installing WXP press F6 and load the Storage Manager (you can find it on the Toshiba support page). For this, you can use the floppy drive. I used it too and there is no problem. After the loading of Intel Storage Manager WXp will continue as usual.

  • Problem with the software Modem on Satellite Pro L40

I tried to set up a connection Dial-Up Networking on a Satellite Pro L40 running Vista and can't get the modem to talk to the modem from the ISP. The connection appears OK and then you can hear the modem dial, but when the ISP picks up there is a bit of yelling and then my modem abandons the connection and I get the standard vista connection failed box.

    Things I've tried:
-latest drivers for the 2.1.77.0 modem (and the rest of the system) downloaded from Toshiba and installed OK
-all the updates of windows installed
-removal of the modem in the Manager of peripherals and re - install
-suppression of the agrsmdel.exe and then re-install
-try different cables to plug into the phone jack
-several different ISPS and phone numbers
-reduce the maximum speed of the connection
-connection to the same ISP with my Satellite L10; works very well never have time!
-using the windows to diagnose and repair the tool (set last resort!); says that the modem works fine and can not find a problem with the connection

Is it possible that the update of the BIOS on the laptop would make a difference (currently v 1.60)? I did some research on Google and found messages on various forums, which suggests that the connection between the motherboard and the modem chip is a little doubtful for all the Agere Soft Modem; If the case is it something I can fix myself or I should go for warranty repair?

    Hello

Just got a Satellite Pro L40 - 15A, its currently got vista home on that and I'll have a go at put WXP Pro on it. Anyone who has tried this? First thing that I'm doing, is integrate the SATA drivers in Windows XP Home edition with nlite. Got Intel Matrix storage drivers which I assume are the right ones. One else you have that works? Also, I've seen there are a few updates to the BIOS, anyone put these yet? Are these worth it, updated the BIOS always makes me nervous!

    Hello

It doesn´t matter which model, because you can use the users for EACH model installation instructions. So, just pick up all the necessary drivers and install XP as the guy described it.
I did it on a Satellite A100 and it works like a charm. :)

  • Satellite Pro L40-15 has: motherboard problem

    Hi all

I have a satellite pro L40-15 and it was running vista basic but very slowly.

A friend advised me that I needed to renew the bios for xp install xp. I did, and now he's dead. The fan is not still running, even if the wireless lights and 3 lights above the power switch will Flash once.

I took the motherboard out (part number 08g2002ta22jtb). During the inspection, there seems to be a reset button on the plateau (near the battery terminals). It is only accessible with the removed card. Does anyone know haw to restore bios factory settings please?

    Thanks in advance.

    John.

    Hi mate,

It's cool to you finally disassemble your machine. But you won´t get no benefit from this action given that the bios needs to be reflashed by a technician of toshiba, BECAUSE they have the right tools to do this.

I don't know how or what tools they use, but I had a similar problem on my Satellite A100 and they fixed without the motherboard. (So it was told to me).

If I were you, I would send the machine to another and the closest to the ASP (certified partner) in your country. They should bring back your machine to life.

  • Satellite Pro L40 - freezing recovery utility

    Hello

I'm trying to restore my Satellite pro L40 via the recovery CD. The utility starts and then as soon as I select a language the recovery utility screen freezes with the list of countries endangered and section of flag having a small gray box that just overlap it.

Does anyone have ideas, what is? I've never been able to get this new laptop to work, it is not the first time I turned it on and then I ordered a recovery CD and recovery utility is now a failure as well.

This question is unclear to me. I got several notebooks A200 and P200, but I have never seen anything like it. If you aren't really able to use recovery DVD I recommend you contact the service provider authorized in your country. They can order for you the new copy.

You may have some Microsoft CD/DVD installations to see if the installation of the OS can be finished without any problems. I really hope that this problem occurs due to recovery media.

  • Have now installed XP on my Satellite Pro L40-134 that had OS Vista as OEM

high-definition Intel (azalia) codec adi ad1986a audio

Hi, I have a problem a lot of time with the sound on my laptop.
    Description
    * No sound
    * An exclamation in device saying management "Audio device high definition Audio Bus".
I removed Vista (which came with) and installed a genuine XP PRO SP3
Downloaded all the drivers from the Toshiba Download Center (used the Satellite Pro L40 - 17 H, this is a similar model with XP as the operating system OEM)
Installed in the correct order according to "how to install" Toshibas pdf

Had a typical saying "Audio Modem Bus High Definition Audio" for awhile, but it disappeared during the installation of the drivers in the correct order.

Now I sculled the Earth for a solution, but found nothing.

Answers to these questions would be very apprechiated.
What is my motherboard model name?
who is the manufacturer of the MoBo?
Who made my equipped with a sound card?

The best course would be if I could get a link to a nice download that solved my problem.

    All the best.

    C_sdi

After reading your ad something was strange for me on this pdf "how to install". Now I know what the problem is here.
Your laptop model has the name of the European model, but on the European download page, there is no pdf file "how to install".

Now I wonder what you do exactly.
If you check the European download page, and it's right for you, you'll notice that Toshiba doesn't offer WXP stuff for your laptop model. So you will be unable to find the proper drivers and Toshiba-specific tools and utilities, and I assume that you will not be able to complete the configuration and installation of Windows XP Home edition.

Anyway, you can try to find the proper drivers that Googling around or you can try install stuff designed for model laptop similar but I can't say for sure if it works or not.

On your Satellite pro motherboard is Intel 943GML + Intel® ICH7-M, then you can try to find suitable driver on Intel support page. Sound chip is ADI AD1986A.

    Good luck.

  • Satellite Pro L40 - cannot install Windows XP

Material: Satellite Pro L40, HDD 80 GB, 1.5 GB of RAM

Software: Windows XP + SP2 install CD, floppy disk with AHCI HDD ICH8M_32bit drivers drivers created according to the instructions in "how to install Windows XP on a L40.pd"f of Toshiba (which is pretty outdated by the way!)

Problem: The start is fine, after pressing F6 quick to add drivers is very good, set up windows starts.
Then I get this message on the screen: insert the disc labeled "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" in the A: drive. Press ENTER when you are ready.
This is not mentioned in the installation instructions.

Well, I don't have a disc labeled like that. I only have the disk that I created according to the instructions in the PDF above.
It is already in the drive, so I press ENTER and nothing happens.

My only other option is to quit smoking. Tried to quit smoking and going through the whole process several times - always eventually return to this impasse.

    (sigh)

    Can anyone help? Please?

I think that you have made a mistake, because I never have problems to use the SATA drivers.
Have you tried to do the floppy drive with the drivers and where did you download the drivers? Maybe you should try to download again on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

And have you tried to create your own with the drivers installation disk? You can do this with nLite for example. I prefer this because that is why I n t need an external floppy drive.
    It s worth a try! ;)

    Hello

Also, I wasn't able to find the drivers for Win XP for this device.
However, if you want to install Windows XP you can do, but as said above some functions may not work.

The last possibility is to check the other laptop computer series and try to install drivers other laptops that support the same features.
    Maybe you about success.
