Satellite R830 - low CPU benchmark

Hello

I tested my R830 Satellite with index WEI W7. In this benchmark CPU index was 6.9.

I installed Windows 7 64-bit clean to my R830-PT32LE (i5 - 2410M).

I installed most of the applications and drivers. After that the installation when I spot again CPU index was 5.2.
(Reference WEI has been done with the power settings and adapter is connected)

I think it's really 5.2 because its slower than before. Other WEI, I have test it with some other applications of CPU benchmark, and each of them gave this kind of small numbers.

What is the problem? Is it possible if I forgot to install driver if I get this kind of performance?

> I installed most of the applications and drivers.
And what is missing?

Is that all the drivers, tools, and utilities should / must be installed in the proper installation order.
BTW: what version of Win7 do you currently use? Maybe ultimate?

  • Satellite R830-1GZ - CPU usage high (> 25%) and increase in the speed of the fan after reactivation

    Hi all

The CPU usage of my laptop shoots upward to 25% (and beyond) and increases in fan speed considerably after waking up, but only when I use an external mouse (Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000) - disconnect the mouse once it happened does not solve the problem, so I always have to restart my computer if I let go sleep with the connected mouse.

I noticed that when this produces the system interrupts - delayed appeals procedure and Interrupt Service routine appears in the resource monitor > CPU > process and seems to explain the increase in the use of the processor.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be most appreciated.

I use a Toshiba Satellite R830 1GZ with Windows 7 (64-bit). This problem will not occur when I use the same mouse with another laptop (Dell with Windows XP).

I think that the process that controls the mouse MS WLan does not close properly.
The system to memorize it and therefore the cooling module begins to spin faster because these processes stressed the central unit.

Maybe its caused by the mouse driver

  • Satellite C650D - the CPU usage is jumping around

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C650D 2 months ago and I used the Windows 7 that came with it, thinking that it was fine and dandy until a few days ago, he started having random lag spikes.

At first he just happen when you watch movies (tried 4 different programs, all reinstalled the driver, scanned for malware, defragmented, you name) and then she started to occur outside the viewing of film aswell. Who did it for me, and I installed Windows XP. I did 3 times now, clean install it Windows XP. Initially, it seemed fine. For a few hours, and then it started lagging really bad, not like in Windows 7, but the CPU usage is jumping all over the boundaries between 1% and 99% at random, but there is no process to take it!

He lags behind what I do, just open the Notepad can blow. I thought that it would work with a format clean, but no, of course the problem reoccured. It might be drivers, see problems in Windows 7 and XP are somewhat different. I'm in my intelligence ends here on what to do, whatever that is would be helpful.

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like on your laptop is a background passes process that is causing this different and high CPU usage.

What happens if you install Windows 7 Toshiba Recovery disk and look in the Manager of tasks? Directly after this installation, you should have a low CPU usage and stable because it s installation of Windows from Toshiba.

  • Problems with online information product Toshiba Satellite R830

Hello! I just bought a Toshiba Satellite R830-146 with the following general specifications:

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
    CPU: Intel i5 - 24010M
    RAM: 4 GB DDR II
    HARD DRIVE 640 GB

    I had install/configure these days.

In addition to the original, Aministrator account, I first worked with what turn on the machine and the installation/configuration of starting the process, I had to create another account to user with administrator privileges. The reason? Because the settings of Internet Explorer 9 in the original Admin account were somehow gone corrupt: some web pages that I absolutely have to work with because of professional reasons cannot be properly charged more, and these web pages are only compatible with Internet Explorer, not any other browser, Mozilla or anything like that. After several hoyrs work trying to solve this issue, I couldn't find a way to solve it.

So I created a second administrator. User account (with the intention to delete the original Admin account if it worked OK); and in the admin again. account 9 IE works fine in any web page but I this is my problem with the Toshiba application online product Info begins.

Namely: Toshiba OPI app doesn't work at all in the admin again. user account, even if it worked perfectly in the original account of amin - and it still doesn't work (I haven't dared delete the admin account of origin). When it is running in the new account admin, Toshiba OPI shows only an error message. I tried with UN-install the utility, then put it back in the admin again. account - no result, problem still there and Toshiba OPI still works fine in the oldest account where the IE 9 settings are corrupt, but false in the new, where everything works fine.

So, why don't I just uninstall Toshiba OPI, delete the older admin account and forget all about?, you ask. Well, because among all the specific software Toshiba provided with my machine, this seems to be the one and only piece of software that maintains a current alert on, locates, downloads and installs the necessary drivers, BIOS updates and other. Software specific to the computer of the machine it does basically what Windows Update performs the operating sistem. Like many other users, I usually end up uninstalling the pre-installed software, specific LABELTEX, most of the machines that I buy, because it most of it isn't useful. But I still like to preserve the piece of software specific LABELTEX update which is updated regular with LABELTEX criticism or specific patches to the computer/model instead of having to regularly visit Toshiba support & updates page to see if it is something urgent. And this piece of software in question seems to be Toshiba OPI utility, in this case.

So I wonder if anyone has a diagnosis of why this does not work in all the admin. accounts (and no, the problem isn't that I do run the program with two admin accounts connected and active I already checked that), and how could I solve apart from uninstalling the Toshiba OPI and oblivion, that would be very easy , but I would not do.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

In the last years I ve changed 3 portable Toshiba and the first thing I did was to remove the OPI and several other specific applications of Toshiba. Why? All of them start with Windows, slow start-up of the laptop, run in the background for nothing.

My experience Toshiba doesn't offer new things every day, so in general you can use OPI every two months to check whether or not something is offered again. You can do this when you start your laptop with the original admin account.

You know, that these questions are not easy to explain. Toshiba has tested pre-installed software and functionality with the original account. Who knows what is corrupt with your admin account and what have you done in the past.

In my opinion, if you want to keep your configuration, stop OPI to run with your extra account and be happy. Each connection of two months using original admin account and check for updates.

  • Satellite R830 and Windows 10 question webcam

The Microsoft Upgrade Advisor said that my Satellite R830-182 would be allowed to switch to Windows 10, so I made the leap. Everything works fine, except the webcam of Toshiba. Device Manager States "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" and click on "update drivers" is futile.

  • Satellite R830 - reset password

    Hello

I have a Satellite R830. As I closed it down an opinion seems to say keep until finished updates. At the end of the updates, the laptop closed and then restarted. PASSWORD of the screen when it is restarted on a black background: _ appears with the blinking cursor. I tried all the passwords I can think of including the administrator password. Laptop stops after three attempts. Any ideas of what password is required and if there is a safe mode to restart?

    Thank you very much

PASSWORD of the screen when it is restarted on a black background: _ appears with the blinking cursor.

    Sounds like a BIOS password.

But to be honest, the story seems really strange to me... I never read the BIOS password which could be resolved automatically during the update of the system...

However, if this is a BIOS password and if it is unfamiliar to you, well, then you will be needing additional assistance of authorized person... authorized service provider is able to remove unknown BIOS password.

  • Satellite R830 - HDMI port does not work

    Hello

Is there a driver for the HDMI for the Satellite R830 port?
It is no longer connects to a TV.

I tried different TV but still nothing.
Also there is no HDMI in under the control panel Device Manager, should there be?

Thank you very much for any help or advice.

    Hello
I put t know what Windows system that you use on this laptop, but the driver HDMI isn't available from the HDMI port driver is part of the system and should be recognized automatically.

Capacity Audio HDMI you need to install the right audio driver and should allow this in Control Panel-> sound-> playback device

HDMI (digital out) would be not listed there, right click and choose:
Show devices disabled, view hidden devices.

Usually the HDMI connection isn t very delicate. Everything should run automatically.
Connect both devices with a HDMI cable.
Turn on the TV, then the computer.
Now, use the exit function FN (key) video combination in order to get to the video (HDMI).

Note: the correct HDMI channel must be selected on your TV

  • Need a small part of my Satellite R830 - 1 L 7

    Hello

I'm looking to get my hands on a small part for my laptop Satellite R830 - 1 L 7. The part is the protector of small silver hinge there are two on the laptop; one on the left and one on the right, just below the screen. One of mine came loose and was lost, and the sons are now dealt with under.

It would be great if someone would be able to help me find one, and I'll give you as much information as I can, if anyone thinks that they will be able to help.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello
You mean the screen hinges or hinge protector?
However, I assume that the two parties could be ordered in local Toshiba authorized maintainer.
Accredited maintainer will be able to order all the compatible parts for your laptop, and from my point of few, this is the best place where you could make any order the part.

  • Questions from the screen and keyboard on Satellite R830-181

    Hello

    I had exactly the same problem with it;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=280934

I also explained what is it and how it over time in this topic.

To sum up; my screen and keyboard do not work in my Toshiba Satellite R830-181, 13.3 '' laptop.

    My questions;
    1. is it a motherboard problem?

    2. as it runs on an external monitor, I guess that the graphics card or processor is fine.
There is no damage on the screen, so I guess there is a problem with the connection of the power supply to the screen.

If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.

I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.

What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
Same question applies to the keyboard.

    3. If I repair or fix myself, you think it will happen again? Because I think that this could be a faulty laptop computer of a certain series of production since someone else has experienced the same thing with this model.

can 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?

    5. If this can be resolved with a replacement of the screen, that I need to find a laptop screen Toshiba R830 or I can buy any 13.3-inch screen?

As far as I know this model is not supported by the company more, so it is quite difficult to find a screen R830.
It is difficult to find a 13.3-inch screen, anyway, but still, if I can use the screen of another model which would ease my problems.

I need an idea on that.
    Thanks :)

    > 1 - is it a motherboard problem?
Not easy to say: If the external monitor works correctly then this isn't problem chart/motherboard.
The external USB keyboard works properly, if not motherboard problem too.

    > 2 - because it works on a monitor external I guess graphics card or processor is fine.
    Yes, that's correct.

    > If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.
I do not recommend to buy the new parts before the defective parts has not been verified.

    > I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.
Good idea to send it to Toshiba service partner since the guys would be able to control parts and fix it.

    > What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
    > Same question goes for the keyboard.

Don t think someone can tell exactly what's causing this according to me its just a bad luck material can start malfunction happens in every possible branch of industries (TV, computer, smartphone, cars)

can > 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?
No, the keyboard is only connected to the motherboard, display is also connected to the motherboard, but there is no connection between the keyboard and the display.

  • Supported satellite R830-182 and SSD

Anyone know if there is news of SSD in Toshiba laptops?

I ask because I have a Satellite R830-182 and I recently purchased an OCZ Agility 4 and it is not detected by the BIOS.

I tried all the tricks in the book including the BIOS upgrade and switching between AHCI/IDE.

Research online, find posts on this topic.
The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

Someone suggested that [by pressing Pause | https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=244444𻫜] before entering the BIOS would help.
    Has anyone tried this before?
Not sure that it is a viable long-term solution.

    Any other thoughts/advice on this?

    > Research online, I find messages on this particular problem.
    > The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

I have Toshiba laptop and I could upgrade the laptop with a SSD 250 GB from another manufacturer. One of my friends with Toshiba Satellite laptop also use another brand of SSD 2.5 drive.

But the fact is that the problems of compatibility between different devices (not always SSDS but other modules PCI as well) can happen and its nothing unusual in the world of large computing.

As far as I know that some R830 models are equipped with a ' Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a hard drive. Type of SSD SATA 2.5 "SSD SATA type 256/512 GB and 1.8" 128 GB must be compatible. "
But its also a matter of SSD drive firmware. In many cases firmware drive SSD can be not BIOS supported.
In this case the SSD drive would not be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite R830: How do the BIOS settings password protected?

    Hi all

I installed a software protection against theft in my Satellite R830, but he suggested that I adjust the settings in the BIOS so that it will start only from the hard drive, and to make sure that no one else can modify it (if it is stolen), the BIOS settings are protected by Word.

Can someone tell me how to access the BIOS at startup settings upward?

    Hello

You can set the BIOS settings by setting the BIOS password.
If someone would like to change the BIOS settings, the password of the BIOS would be necessary.

Can someone help me find a way to disable booting from removable devices on a toshiba Satellite R830.

    Thank you?

    Hello

You can't disable booting from a boot device.
You can simply change the boot order in the BIOS.

If you don t want to start, for example: USB, just put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Now the laptop will boot first from the HARD drive. If it isn t HARD (because of missing systems) bootable disk, the BIOS will pass to the next device, IE: CD/DVD player
