Satellite U300-PSU30E - how to fix disk HARD runing Vista

Is it possible to fix the HARD disk if the repair of Vista does not work?

At startup, I can choose the repair of the system, but there is no HARD disk driver.
Vista does not start.

The strange thing is that Linux can access the HARD disk. The re-partition and the boot partition seem to be OK, but the Vista partition is damaged.
Linux application to use windows and give 'chkdsk /f' and 2 startup time.
Nice, but I have no way to get to a working command prompt.

Is there a way to access the BIOS settings?
BIOS detects the HARD drive and displays its name and type (MK1637GSX).
Just wondering if there is something wrong with the BIOS settings.

The repair CD is not helping. He asks a HARD disk driver.
With the CD, access to the boot partition and the WinRE partition works, but accessing the partition Vista doesn't.
Sometimes I find myself in a bad score.
Directory on the partition change Vista takes about 10 minutes (if it happens to succeed).

I managed to find the disk.inf on the Vista partition once, but after a long installation there is a popup saying that nothing could be installed.

I doubt that there could be something wrong with BIOS, you can access the BIOS by pressing F2.
But if Linux is bootable, then everything is OK with the BIOS and HARD disk
I think that only Vista partition and master boot record may be defective.

I think that you need to install the SATA drive in order to recognize the HARD drive.
The SATA drivers should be part of the Robson package which is on the European driver Toshiba page.
Maybe then you could get access to HARD drive and running a chkdsk /F

I think that your laptop is not the recovery of HARD drive partition.
Only the most recent models of laptops that are not delivered with the recovery disc supports this feature.

My Vista broke down so I removed and installed ubuntu, which works very well. However, I would like to install a windows on this as well. Because I lost my disk of vista I tried with XP. It worked fine with virtualbox virtualization but when I tried to install it properly it worked as it is enjoyable. I got an error message during the installation process «Setup has not found any hard drive» I tried "slipstreaming" a storage on the installation as disk driver advised on this article:

But laptop refuses to install from the newly formed disc and if I was still facing the same problem. Another option that is described in the article was to disable the native control of SATA BIOS. However, my laptop only has trusted Core BIOS Phoenix that do not allow to make these changes, and if I read between the lines of this topic:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=175764

.. There is no way to access this kind of parameters with my current BIOS. So my question is then. Is it really impossible to install windows XP on this computer without floppy drive where you could put a SATA driver or is it possible to work around this problem? Vista is such a disappointment to me that I might have to consider buying windows 7 if it does not seem likely that XP starts to work, and in this case, I am afraid that the power of this machine is not sufficient for this operating system.

    Hi Kylanmies,

The magic word is Intel Storage Manager. This package contains the SATA drivers you need, and you are able to install Windows XP.

    Hello!

What you downloaded exactly on the Toshiba site?

As written Akuma you must install first added value Package you will find also on the Toshiba site. Check this box!

An interesting thing: it does not work if you are using the preinstalled operating system? It should have everything installed for your laptop.

  • Re-setup of Satellite U300-PSU30E

    Hi all!

I'm sorry if I make a double thread, but I could not seem to be able to find relevant information in other threads. If anyone knows please give me a link to my question.

I have a Satellite U300 with Windows Vista Home Edition. It's been several months and I want to do a cleaning and replacement is my best choice. When I skipped this step, I discovered that my laptop has two a hidden to recovery and a dvd recovery partition. I found nothing in the Handbook for the recovery process. So my question is I need the CD and the partition to restore my computer to original state or I only need one of them?

Any assistance or sharing of experience would be really appreciated!

If you talk about this WinRE 1.5 GB partition I can tell that this partition belongs to Vista and it is typical of Vista. If you want to know more about that please Google around. You can find a lot of useful pages with detailed information on its use.

  • Satellite U300-153: how to use the resolution to 720 p on TV

I have laptop satellite u300-153 and a HD ready LCD Tv.
I have the connected with vga cable, because the laptop has vga output.

The problem is that when I change the output resolution in the Setup menu of the graphics card to a larger than 1024 x 768 resolution, television reports an error of non-signal.

I searched this forum and found that it's because the resolutions on the one I mentioned earlier are locked in Bios of the Government.
I would use a normal on my HDTV 720 p resolution, because I intend to use it as my main screen at home.

Using the 720 p resolution is not required, I would be just as satisfied if I could use any other wide screen resolutions.

Hmm. I think that the problem is you graphics driver doesn't support external resolution of 720 p (1280 x 720).

Unfortunately, if this resolution is not included in the graphics driver, then you will not be able to use it :(

    That's pity

  • How to clone disk HARD of backup/restore for ideapad with pre-installed win8 and recovery button work?

    Hi all

I recently bought a y510p ideapad. It came with pre-installed win8, and I have no recovery CD. I intend to play with linux on this laptop, but do not want to lose win8. So before I have potentially immediately reformat, I think to make a copy of clone of my HDD on an external USB drive. The general plan is like that,

    1. make a copy of mobile on external USB HARD drive

2 mud with linux - and foolishly autour reformat the entire process

    3. have fed up with linux and want to return to windows

4 copy of retrospective data from usb driver external HDD latop

5 return to the comfort of win8

With the help of this tool (clonezilla) will work in the above scenario?

    http://www.MakeUseOf.com/tag/free-advanced-hard-drive-cloning-solution-from-Clonezilla/

If not, are there any other alternatives (free if all goes well) I could use?

My intention with the backup, is that after that I have 'restore' things, "a key recovery" button should continue to work as before.

Make the plan will cause OKR is not functioning properly. To prove this to get a hard drive of exact size and make a clone of hard disk of the device. Remove the hard drive from the unit and place the disc clone hard inside. You can now play with the disk hard clone to your hearts desire but OKR first test if it still works. Even if OKR no longer work, you can proceed with the installation of linux. Once you're disgusted with Linux everything you have to do is replace the hard disk clone with the original hard drive and you're back to win with OKR 8 still works.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - how to access the installation of Vista hidden partition?

    AHOY!

    I have a Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA 2000R

It had Windows Vista installed when I got it, but after a while, had to reformat, so I did, (I want to reformat my computer every 6-12 months on average), it came only with XP disks even if he got a serial number for Vista on the underside of the laptop so I installed XP. That was about 2-3 reformats there now.

However, so that finding drivers I've seen mention of a hidden partition to reinstall Vista (which I hope it is 64-bit) and tried to do this several times but unfortunately it does not work, I guess that maybe what XP installation I can accidentally deleted or something? (Thought they had in fact on some solid state memory which could not be written more or something.)

    * Is there a way I can access it, take another that won't cost a ridiculous amount (for example download) or a nice person enough to create an image to download on a site or something that I can download file sharing? *

I have also a spare copy of Vista (and a bit of XP) on the drive, none of them will work?

+ Another thing which I am interested in is can I get any of the preview of Windows 8 OS that will run on this laptop? Apparently it improved performance on Vista and W7 would be convenient for running on a laptop, and I have also heard say it is possible to upgrade to the full version of the preview or W7 for a minimal cost and would probably be much cheaper than other methods if possible. +

And I'm actually quite handy with computers, so don't be afraid to throw big words at me,

(Tried the methods found on the manual on page 3-8 ([link: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/pro/a300/psagda-02000r/download?os=22]).)

I have European A300 and I believe that the principle on the rest of the same models.
A300 was offered with Vista preinstalled but without recovery disc Vista. Image that contains the operating system, drivers, tools and utilities for recovery has been saved on the HARD drive and with book factory owner was able to begin the installation of HARD drive recovery. It works with the factory only settings.

With preinstalled Toshiba laptop recovery disk creator owners have been able to create the recovery disk that can be used if the disk HARD recovery doesn't work anymore.
If you don t have access to this image saved on HARD drive recovery, you must use the recovery disc. If you don t have the disc that you have a problem. Recovery image can not be downloaded. All you can download are the unique rivers, tools and utilities that you can use if you install a clean version of the OS (operating system).
On the European models, recovery image was recorded on the second partition of HARD drive in the folder called HDDrecovery.

Anyway, A300 works with Win7 32 bit. I installed it on my machine and I m very happy with it.
    > Another thing which I am interested in is can I get any of the preview of Windows 8 OS that will run on this laptop?
I put t know who should give you this overview, but the fact is that you get it from Toshiba. You should check if you can get it in another way.

  • Satellite L300-144 - how to replace the HARD drive?

    Hello!

I have a problem: my laptop is Satellite L300-144, but I don't even know my hard drive model.

Anyone know anything on this subject? And how replcae it? I mean where the hard drive is placed?
And another question: is it available in BestBuy for example?

    THX

    Hello

As Akuma said on the underside of the laptop, you will find a HARD drive cover is fixed by 2 screws I think. If you remove these screws, you can see the HARD drive and remove/Exchange it.

Satellite L300 supports SATA 2.5 hard drives, and you can buy the HARD drive of every computer store where you want to.
I have good experiences with Seagate and Western Digital hard drives but of course, you can buy a disk from a different manufacture. ;)

  • Satellite C660 - 1J6 Win7 installation failed - disk HARD disabled controller

IV received a toshiba satellite c660-1j6.
The problem is that the hard drive has been deleted (including the back upward). I don't have any of the Toshiba backup disks, but I have new copies of win 7 home prem and xp pro. However when I try to install win7 that I get as far as selecting the installation drive and I click on the drive and I get the message about how windows cannot be installed to this disk please check the drive controller is enabled.

IV check the BIOS then several times and I can't find anything to do with it apart from the Mode of the SATA controller and which dose nothing.
The Toshiba tech support when no help at all. so is locked HD or BIOS, and is it possible to unlock them so I can install the o/s?

IV tested the drive by hooking up a PC desk top and installing windows like that, but as soon as I put the drive in the laptop it comes up with no installed new o/s

Can anyone give any help... or even indices, iv it for a week now and im going crazy.

    Hello

HARD drive is not locked. You can install any OS on the HARD drive.
Usually, the Windows 7 operating system already contains the SATA drivers that are required to see the HARD drive. So it of not necessary to include the SATA drivers while installing Win 7. You said that you have a copy of Windows 7 disc. Is this an original disc for Win 7 complete with functional Microsoft?
I ve installed several times Win 7 on my Toshiba notebooks and didn t need to use SATA drivers

In the BIOS, you have found the SATA controller mode. This should be set to AHCI. You can change this pressing SPACE.
But also the default BIOS settings should do the job.

Open the Panel here, it's the HARD drive, but there is no obvious way to get it out... I don't want to force it.

    Hello

The HARD drive slot is placed at the bottom of the unit. You don't have to remove the screw holding the cover of the slot. Then, you can simply remove the HARD drive.
    But be careful.
