Satellite U305-S2804 - from Vista to XP

I reformatted my U305 Satellite but it is a different model, and now I'm working on my U305-S2804 friends. When I put in the Windows XP Pro SP2 CD it appears and what not and then, I went to the BIOS and set it to boot from the CD before the HARD drive. When I get to the blue screen, it says I can either press ENTER to continue, press R to repair XP, then press F3 to exit. I tried ENTER and R and got the same answer at the same time. This is the message I get:

"Setup did not find hard disk units installed in your computer... Press F3 to exit.

I think this means that it is not to save my HARD drive because it may be SATA and ATA not. If it is SATA someone knows what to do?
If this isn't what I think that if someone had this problem and if so how you to solve? Advice or anything like that would be useful.

Thank you guys.

You need SATA drivers on a USB floppy to install XP.

Here is some info I found:

Installing a version commercial (street copy) of Windows XP on a Toshiba Vista laptop.

* If the laptop has a separate BIOS for XP and Vista, download and Flash the BIOS on the Vista BIOS XP.
* If the installation of XP does not detect the SATA hard drive, simply turn the "SATA Compatibility Mode' in the BIOS if it is necessary. If this option is not available, follow these steps:

(1) Download driver Windows XP SATA F6 on the site of Toshiba Support/downloads.
If an individual F6 driver is unavailable, download and uncompress the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver package must contain some files under the folder "F6flpy". For example: database ICH7M_32bit for an ICH7 chipset during installation of Windows XP 32-bit.

(2) copy the files from the driver F6 (iastor.inf, etc.) on a blank diskette. The files must reside in the root directory of the floppy disk. For example, A:\iastor.inf, A:\iaahci.inf, etc...

(3) use a Toshiba USB floppy drive with the Toshiba laptop. (some non - Toshiba USB Floppy Drives may not work correctly during the installation of XP)

(4) (4) demarrer start from the Windows XP CD, start the installation and make sure that the disk is inserted in the floppy USB drive.

(5) for the XP installation invites you to press F6 to install a storage driver, immediately press F6.

(6) for installing XP you invites to select a SATA driver, select the appropriate driver and continue. For example: ICH7M Intel(r) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller, Intel(r) ICH8M 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller

(7) keep the attached floppy drive and floppy disk inserted XP has not completed its installation. Do not partition or format the hard drive during the installation of XP. The diskette SATA drivers are copied and stored on the hard drive during the installation of XP.

    Hello

Can some guide me in degardin Satellite A 350 from Vista to XP?

    Hello!

    And what do you know?

If you want to install Windows XP on the laptop, you must only start since the installation of the disk and follow the instructions on the screen everything that s!

But don t forget to install the SATA drivers. Otherwise I think that your HARD drive will be not recognized.
And before installing XP you must burn the Toshiba Recovery disk if you didn't already. So, you can restore the factory settings whenever you want.

  • Satellite U400 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello guys,.

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite U400/03 s with a pre-installed version of Vista business & do not like. It came with a recovery disk for Windows XP Pro product. This confused me a bit. Can I downgrade Vista Business with XP Pro?

My next question is, if I can downgrade to XP Pro I need registry XP with Mircosoft?

Also, if I do not need to register with Mircosoft XP, where can I get the registration key of?

    Greatly forward a response.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

A downgrade from Vista to XP is possible. Why not?
But as far as I know, so you need to reinstall the full specifications but in my opinion, this isn't a problem because you have the XP Recovery disk. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

But before that, you you should burn the Windows Vista recovery disk. How do you know this? You need to start only the Toshiba recovery disc creator and you need a blank DVD. Then the Vista recovery disk will be created, and if you want new Vista, you must start only on this disc. That s all because it contains the settings factory and if all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

If you have installed XP you must register it on Microsoft. It is not necessary.
AFAIK, you must enter a product key. It of already on the recovery disk.

    Welcome them

    Hi all!
I received the laptop Satellite A500 with preinstalled Vista, is it possible to install XP even if Toshiba doesn't have any drivers for XP?
    Thank you!

Generally Yes, but with the drivers, may be a little more problematic.
Please don t start with the installation of Windows XP Home edition.
Tell us in a first time what A500 you exactly (A500-xxx).

What we can do is check if another model of phone has the same or similar hardware configuration. Then we can use drivers of another model of laptop that you supported WXP.

  • Satellite L300 - upgrade from Vista Home Basic to Home Premium issues

    Hi all

I recently got a Satellite L300 with a basic family OEM of Vista Edition version.
I have a copy of Windows Vista: drive home edition Premium (upgrade) and decided to use it on the laptop.

I put the disc in and followed the steps but the upgrade option is removed... It is if I use the product key provided with the disc or not.
The laptop comes with Service Pack 1 is already installed and the drive I have is released in stores before Service Pack 1.

My main question is really how can I get my drive to upgrade my version of Vista. I tried the Google search, this Web site, Microsoft Web site and I get the same answer.

Basically, go into options and upgrade Express. They're all for me to buy from Microsoft that would be kinda useless as I already have a copy.
I read something to a site that said my drive would have to have service pack disk and I've seen a site with some sort of disk editing program for Vista but I am not too keen to use it and the 'how' was not very easy to understand.

Also, I am not too keen on appellant Toshiba or Microsoft on surcharge numbers to get something, I already bought and paid for and should be as simple as a few steps.

Anyway hope someone can help as I really want to upgrade.

    Hello

I understand and it is really annoying, but what to do now? the fact is that Toshiba has offered this book with some version of Vista. This version should be updated to better Microsoft security and the most recent available. Because of this Toshiba supply with the last option of SP1.

So now, you try to install proposed update it there long and probably offered before SP1 was on the market. I understand your point of view but, in my opinion, has nothing to do with Toshiba now, and you should try to find the solution with Microsoft. For example you can also get info from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930733

Clean Vista Home Premium can be installed without any problem. All the drivers, tools, and utilities are downloadable on Toshiba support & download page.

  • Satellite A300 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hi all
I just bought a new Satellite A300 laptop, preloaded with VISTA with XP Downgrade option.

I finished the VISTA (Setup) and the recovery of the DVD. Now, I really want to downgrade to Windows XP, using the supplied with the Toshiba laptop recovery CD, but the instructions are vague.
I tried F12 at startup and select CD/DVD as the boot, but it seems to hang on the black screen.

There are files on the disc (3.2 GB) I covered it on another PC. I also tried the option of recovering your system start-up (F8), but it does not determine that the drive is a recovery / disk backup. I don't want to just run right XP installation of my copy of license of Volume for obvious reasons.

Does anyone have information / procedure on how to switch using the Toshiba provided CD?

    Any help gratefully received.
    With our thanks,
    Stu.

    Hello!

You hear that the drive reads the disc XP if you boot from it? What is the computer hangs on empty screen or if you get an error message?

You can boot from another drive? Maybe the downgrade does not work properly or it s a problem with CD/DVD player. Check it!

Sorry, but at the moment I can t tell more.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300: Move from Vista to Win 7 OS - Upgarde isue

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite A 300 series laptop PC with Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
I want to swith over to Win7.

    My question:

    (1) if I format 'C' and install Win7 fresh, will I be able to use the recovery disk (stored on 'E') option to boot - recovery option F8 - repair - HDD to swith back to original Vista at any time?

    (2) how to ensure that all drivers in particular for all software from toshiba as "Disc Creator", "WLAN", "BT", 'Recovery disc creator', 'Toshiba DVD Utilities', "System Diagnostics" will be mounted like new?

    Thanks in advance.

    Dimitri

    > 1) if I format 'C' and install Win7 fresh, will be that I can use the recovery disk (stored on 'E') option to boot - recovery option F8 - repair - HDD to swith back to original Vista at any time?

No, if you install Windows 7 on the C partition would have replaced the old Vista Boot Manager and disk for Vista recovery option will not be available.

(> 2) how to ensure that all drivers in particular for all software from Toshiba as "Disc Creator", "WLAN", "BT", 'Recovery disc creator', 'Toshiba DVD Utilities', 'System Diagnostics' will be installed as new?

Well, if you install Windows 7 and then the tools mentioned as Recovery Disc Creator or commercial DVD Toshiba could not be used because these done software part if the image only Toshiba! So if you are using Windows 7, you can buy such tools.
All other drivers can be downloaded from the European pilot page Toshiba.

  • Satellite A500 - upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 error

I'm moving my Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium via the Assistance of Toshiba upgrade so it will automatically download the software and some Toshiba Utilities. At the beginning of the launch, an error message 'this model does not support upgrading to Windows 7' in step 'Download Window 7 List component' and cannot continue. I'm confused because this as the disk to upgrade to Win7 I bought and received earlier this year from Toshiba Web site. I have a Satellite A500 I bought last year. It is not an old model, and I think that it is able to upgrade to Windows 7.

I managed to do a clean install once a while back but realized things of the Toshiba didn't were there not more then I got it back it back to Vista (but instead of the first 32 bit, I have changed there 64 bit). So now, he's running on a Vista 64-bit.

I don't know if changing from 32 bit to 64 bit has nothing to do with him or if there is something I need to install before you upgrade... I followed the steps on the Toshiba site to upgrade but stuck at this step. I'm not good with computers so help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I created a few interesting, official items of Toshiba directly about Windows 7 update procedure:

  • Satellite L500 - 13D - from Vista to Win7 - HOW?

    I bought yesterday laptop (Satellite L500 - 13D).
I installed Vista 64 bit and I want to upgrade to Windows 7, because it is no longer compatible
with all the other programs on my old PC (I used XP).

Do I need special drivers for this and where can I get them?
And applications of Toshiba and software will work correctly?

    Thank you

    Hello

    I recommend the clean install!
This means that you should boot from the Windows 7 DVD and should install it instead of Vista.
You can format the entire HARD drive!

But please create the recovery disk first. This could be useful if you want to roll back to Vista in the future

Windows 7 drivers should be published on the European driver Toshiba page.
If you will not find the drivers at this time, then you should take a look in the next few days
I noticed that Toshiba releases the pilots every day for different models.

  • Satellite A210-downgrade from VISTA to XP Pro SP2 - unknown base system device

I recently bought a laptop. On the Toshiba product page, it is listed as Satellite A210-199 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3). If I followed the link to the drivers page, he is listed as Equium A210 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3).

the laptop came with VISTA Home premium, I don't like / want, but works perfectly. After complete installation of Windows XP SP2 home edition Professional, (latest updates, all the drivers of Toshiba home page, etc.), hardware device Manager lists a "DEVICE BASIC SYSTEM" under "system devices", for which he cannot find drivers (Yes, it automatically searches on the internet and that did not help either).

I tried to uninstall the device and restart it, just to see what happens. And I got the ball from the standard taskbar with 'new hardware found '. Windows still do not find the drivers for it, and it still lists as a yellow exclamation in the hardware device manager. The only difference is that now he is no longer in the "system devices" section, but instead, it's an "unknown device" in the "other devices" section (you know, the big icon question yellow mark)

After a thorough cleaning is reinstalled, it is always an "unknown device" under the heading "other devices."

EDIT: maybe I should also mention that when I install graphics and sound card, says windows drivers I changed some important system files and I have to put the original cd with kit WXP SP2.

Have you installed all the drivers provided on the European driver Toshiba page?

I mean divers for card reader controller, AMD processor driver, Driver Modem, infrared Driver, etc.

    Please check all these drivers!

  • Re: Is it easy to downgrade the Satellite U300-111 from VISTA to XP

I bought a Toshiba U300-111 and it comes with VISTA Home Premium.

I wonder what is the best way to this downgrade to XP Pro? I ask the retailer that sells to me, and they asked me to contact Toshiba support. I wonder would be Toshiba offer me a free replacement of XP instead of VISTA? Since I had asked for XP, but the seller told me that they cannot help me.

Also, I have another machine with XP Pro top (it's a phone from another manufacturer and XP came bundled with it). I intend to install linux on it, it would be ok for me to use the license for this machine to install XP on my Toshiba laptop?

    Thank you

Of course, it is easy to install the XP.

First you must install the Intel Storage Manager. This driver is required, because without this Intel Matrix Storage Manager XP does not recognize the HARD drive.
After a successful installation of the Intel Storage Manager, you can continue the installation of XP, and after installing the OS, you can install the drivers from Toshiba.

    > I wonder would be Toshiba offer me a free replacement of XP instead of VISTA
No, you can buy an original MS XP
