Satellite U400-15 q: monitor external glitter

Any monitor flashes on my laptop, and no, I don't have an HDMI output on it.

Which means this: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=150197 does not apply.

I just it back? Is there a fix, or should I get my money back?

Thanks in advance.

Hello!

Have you really tried all the instructions posted by Haider?
I mean another cable VGA, AC adapter, monitors and so far.

Try to update the BIOS and the display driver. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

If it doesn't work you should go an ASP. Technicians can help you with this problem.
I'm pretty sure that this problem can be solved, because a friend of mine has a Satellite U400 too and it doesn t have problems using an external monitor. :)

Good bye

    Technical good day dudes.

    I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L500D

    I use a HP L1910 external 19 '' LCD monitor.

The problem I have is that I can see the monitor flicker. Especially dark colors. I change the parameters of hertz and the resolution and still no change. How can I fix it?

Note: with the previous 2 form the laptop worked well. So I know it's not the monitor

    Hello

This also happens on only with connected AC/DC adapter or battery mode? I started a similar thread here in the forum that the problem was the adapter AC/DC due to a grounding problem.

In addition, use a high quality cable. You can get it from your local computer.

    Check it!

  • iMac (2008) - monitor external glitter

I have an iMac, and there is a problem when I try to connect an external monitor. When the secondary monitor is connected, the photo shows well. However, as soon as I do something that causes an animation on the second screen (move an application window, click on the top menu, etc...), the external Monitor flashes black for a second when there is activity of GUI/animation, then returns. Sometimes you can see small lines of pixels, with random colors during the flashing. It will continue to do so on several occasions, especially if I use the programs normally on the primary monitor (built-in) on the iMac.

    Plug the iMac:

    • Mac OS x 'El Capitan' 10.11.3 (latest version at display time)
    • "At the beginning of 2008' iMac aluminum
    • 20 "@ 1680 x 1050 screen
    • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz
    • 4 GB (2x2gb) DDR2 RAM
    • HARD DRIVE 500 GB
    • ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
    • Connected to monitor like this:
      • iMac-> Mini-DVI to DVI (from Apple brand)-> DVI cable-> Acer monitor

    Acer Monitor Details:

    • Model X193W
    • Resolution of 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz
    • More Details.

    Triggers for monitor flicker:

    • Move windows app.
    • Using any application as usual (on the 2nd monitor)
    • Using any application as usual (on iMac LCD screen)

    What did not monitor flash:

    • Simply by moving the slider on the 2nd screen.
    • Boot without failure (update at startup) and train over triggers. (Photo of loads vertically and slowly for a reason if any...).
    • Connection of the monitor to a Windows PC Acer (works perfectly normal).

    I have tried (without success):

    • Reset the SMC.
    • Reset the PRAM.
    • Reinstall the RAM memory. (why not)
    • Starts in safe mode (apparently the system caches deletes) and boot back to normal.
    • Monitor power cycling then the iMac was on and out.
    • With the help of option "Detect displays" in the display settings (do not do anything).
    • Different cables DVI.
    • Another mini-DVI to DVI (first and third parts) adapters
    • Has tried to Update the firmware GPU (System reported that it didn't need this update).
    • Reinstalled OS X (El Capitan).
    • Ran the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) - system is OK.

I've been reading around online, and it's apparently something with a lot of other people with similar iMacs. There was never a clear solution in other areas of discussion, then maybe I'll just ask here. What is going on? I have a hunch that it's a software/OS problem, as everything seems to work very well. You figure that these iMacs should be able to endure without problem even more big screens as the Apple Cinema HD Display 30 "monitor...

Obviously, taking this Apple iMac and throw money at them until it works are not an appropriate solution, is not buying a new machine. The iMac is already well beyond the warranty period, because it is from 2008. However, since he is still able to support latest Apple OS desktop, we should expect so he could support a secondary monitor of all things - the mini-DVI port is not there for nothing!

Y at - it any sort of solution to this problem, or even a workaround?

I suspect the problem may be caused or associated connector, not all are built as so it is wise to purchase high quality connectors Mini DVI to DVI. If this does not work, do a few resets base such as the iMac SMC and PRAM reset s. default of these, then your mail GPU gets old. Don't forget that your computer is almost 10 years old now if things will begin to deplete. Finally, consider testing with a different external screen, consider that what is perhaps too.

  • Monitor external flicker on Satellite U400-157

    Hi all

Since last week, I bought laptop Satellite U400-157. When I connect to the external moniter laptop with charger plugged the external monitor is flickering (see a horizontal line). When I unplugged the charger the flicker is disappear.

    I tried the following solution:

    1. connect the laptop to different monitors (BENQ 20 "", ViewSonic 17 "and former VGA monitor)
    2. using the power cable of 3 and 2 connectors for labtop and the monitor.
    3. with the help of thick VGA cable.
    4. with the help of another charger.
    5. Finally, I went to the seller and ask him to try another laptop with the same model and the shock was that he has the same problem.

So I can consider it as a FAILURE of this model, or there is a solution for this problem?

    Help, please

    Hello

Hmm I doubt that this problem could be linked to the U400
I use the U400 too and I ve plugged on the external LCD Samsung monitor via HDMI port and the display does not Flash.

I also found this thread on the similar problem with Tecra M5
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=146910

The guy means that this could be also a problem of laptop but after several tastings, he founded the power cable supplied with the external monitor was questionable.

However, maybe your ASP must check the laptop and the material

I installed all the drivers under Vista properly on my Toshiba Satellite U400. But the connection is far from high performance. The display is very choppy.

    What is a problem?

    Hello

What display driver that you have installed for your Satellite U400? Have you installed the latest driver from the Toshiba page directly?
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Assume you mean the external monitor then have I you tried another cable for it? You can test it with a high quality cable please?

Maybe a BIOS update could also be helpful

  • Try to restore Satellite U400 with external ODD

Hi, I'm fighting with my laptop trying to restore it to factory settings, my cd player died some time ago and I have been using an external.

I tried to restart using the recovery disks in the external drive, it starts the process and wants the recovery disk set in the default cd player (one broken), also tried to restart the recovery of HARD drive and receive the same message to put the disc into the cd player?

I also have a copy of windows THAT XP pro disk so I downloaded a program called wintousb and tried to boot and load a new copy of windows by the usb port, got an error about a missing file.

I'm about to give up then if someone could help me that would be great.

    Thank you

    Hello

One of my friends owns a Satellite U400 and I tried to boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive, but this was not possible. I guess that there is no support on the side of the BIOS.

However, the installation using the USB it works...
I recommend you the Win - USB forum of possible solutions.

In addition, you must make sure that the driver SATA is included because Win XP would not see the HARD drive without driver

Hi, I have a L850-150 and I would like to know if it is possible to connect two monitors external simultaneosly, one by Hdmi and the second by Vga to enjoy an installation of three active screens (including the laptop screen). Im trying to figure out how to do without using a USB to adapter vfga or a Matrox dualhead2go.

    Thanks in advance

Some laptops supports a dual output: for example the Qosmio X 500 as shown here:

But for Satellite L850 this isn t possible.
But you can use an external device, such as Dynadock

(Satellite U400 laptop purchased in June 2009)

Today the screen started to Flash, I unplugged it and it stopped, and it worked when I plugged it in.
I checked the refresh rate of the screen and it is to 60 Hertz

    Is there an underlying problem?
He is currently, I should check anyway get?

Just a question; Do you mean the external monitor?

    > I unplugged and it stopped, and it worked when I plugged it in.
Do you mean that you have disconnected from the laptop AC adapter?

This sounds like the problem known to me
I read many similar discussions in various forums
Generally, this is question of ground loop which can cause a blink that you can solve the problem by using an adapter 2-pin

  • Satellite U400-15E - cannot start new USB HDD

    Hello.

Recently a bought a WD My Book external with 3TeraByte to use with my Satellite U400-15E. I can use inside Windows 7 Ultimate without problem. But if I try to boot from it (by pressing the F12 key), the BIOS does not even see the drive.

Is it because Toshiba does not use Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)? UEFI BIOS can overcome the limitation of 2.19 to in computers today easily, as explained in the following Western Digital document:

This would allow me to use my new external drive to store an image Ghost drive HARD internal of my Toshiba for example. I mean 3 TB and more capacity is a reality today. When Toshiba updates their UEFI BIOS support?

    Material used:
    Toshiba Satellite U400-15E (BIOS v5.00 10/26/2010)
Western Digital My Book Essential 3TeraByte - Firmware v1.014 (USB 3.0 interface)
MS Windows 7 Ultimate - 32 bit version

    Thank you

    Hello

Satellite U400 supports devices to boot according to the user manual:
    USB FLOPPY DRIVE
    HARD drive primary school
    Optical devices
    Network (LAN)

If the USB drives are not supported.

But you're absolutely right Re: 3 to and a larger capacity is reality today, but Satellite U400 is older model laptop and not newer ;)

The hard drive has been replaced, and I have no recovery disk.

    Seems ok.
Personally I follow than such orders because especially its any driver is installed initially, but some tools requires the installation of other tools.
Thus, for example, value added package must be installed before you install other software from Toshiba

  • Satellite U400 - conflict Dynadock DVI with Intel graphic driver

I try to install the Dynadock DVI on my Satellite U400 / Vista 32 and after reboot, I continue to have the message Igfxext Module has stopped working.
This is part of the Intel graphics driver.

When I uninstall the Toshiba Software video Dock and drivers (exhibit Dynadock) components.
I don't have the problem... but I can't use an external display connected to the Dynadock.

I updated the Intel display drivers with no difference. Anyone who could help me on this one?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Check if you can update the graphics driver using the graphics driver for the Intel page.

  • Satellite U400 - letter jumps

I installed the OS with Toshiba Recovery disk, but I have a problem with the keyboard, when I write and use the letter o as he jumps at the beginning of the line always?

    Hello!

I have a Satellite U400 and no problems with it.
Maybe you are touch the touchpad while you are writing.

You can test with, if you disable the touchpad with FN + F9 and you can use an external mouse.

It would also be interesting if you have the same problem with an external keyboard. Check it!

  • Satellite U400-137; Tablet PC Pen - Tablet PC

Is it possible to use a Tablet PC stylus on the display screen (13.3 "Toshiba true Brite (r) WXGA TFT high brightness) of my Satellite U400-137. I have a few SW pre-loaded for Tablet PC (I ignore if it was provided with Windows Vista or some other free SW provided by Toshiba with my notebook).
In the event that it is impossible to use the stylus on the screen exist some external display / display by Toshiba to connect to my laptop, which coul support Tablet PC SW?

    Hello gian-marco-del-felice,

Unfortunately, I think that this is not possible because touchscreens still have an extra layer of digitizer screen inside as Akuma wrote. So in other words, they have a completely normal view without touch screen compatibility.

If there is a compatible touchscreen, an authorized service provider can order it for you. So, you should ask the guy if there is such a compatible screen available.
