Satellite U500 - 01b - Webcam turns on, but nothing

Hello world

I have a Satellite U500/01b, aged for 2 weeks and I am yet to discover how to operate the webcam. Everytime I open the program (the top button on the small box that appears on the left) I just get a black screen. Turns on the webcam, but I see nothing. I had it working at a time by selecting 'night mode' in the settings but now I went to for use and its just empty.

Y at - it a trick or something to make it work? What I am doing wrong?

Thank you.

Hi J_irwin,

Are you running the factory settings or did you do your own installation of Windows?

In my view, it must be a problem with the webcam settings and you should check out them. So read this article that can help you:

    Hello!

It sounds like a hardware malfunction...

Try this workaround: remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait one hour and then reconnect the battery and the AC adapter. Now, try to restart the laptop.

I put t know what laptop you have exactly but if it doesn t work you should go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop.

  • Satellite P300 - on power turns on, but nothing happens on the screen

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite P300-1F0, yesterday it was working fine, I turn it off nothing extraordinary happens.
Although later, when I went to turn on I pressed the power button, but the screen was not working, I tried to connect an external display but nothing showed on this subject, although the power of lights was turned on, the drive CD opened and closed as normally don't and I could hear the fans work.

That I realize windows 7 welcome sounds were not playing even after a few minutes with the laptop turned on and the laser mouse was working only for a few seconds before it shuts down.
It was when I started to believe that this was not a screen problem, but something else.

I have read a few forums and I tried to unplug the power cable, remove the battery, press the power button for 60 seconds and turn it on and it worked, it worked fine, I used the computer for a few hours without any problem.

Today the same problem has occurred, and I tried to set the same way as I did yesterday, hold the power button for 60 seconds, but this time it did not work. I retried it for 3 to 5 times and nothing.
After a few hours, leaving the computer is off, resting, I retried the process and now it worked.
Now I'm afraid to turn off the laptop, because I need a lot of time and patience range to activate.

What could be the problem and how do I solve it?
    Can you help me?

    > I have read a few forums and I tried to unplug the power cable, remove the battery, press the power button for 60 seconds and turn it on and it worked, it worked fine, I used the computer for a few hours without any problem.

Yes, this workaround is sometimes useful to bring back the unity of life.

    > What could be the problem and how do I solve it?
It's hard to say what causes this. Satellite P300 is an older model mobile phone, so it is possible that among the pieces of equipment begins to malfunction.
It would be interesting to know if the use of the various modules of RAM would change the functionality of the laptop. If you have compatible RAM modules spare you can test it.

In the worst case, it could be possible that beginning of motherboard laptop malfunction.
It would be the worst case I hope for you that it s not mobo related issue.

PS: Check if your BIOS is up to date. In case this is not the latest version, try to update the BIOS.

  • Satellite U500/01b - loop Configuration

    Hi all

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite U500/01b. I brought home and tried to put in place, after recovering to its State initial 'configering for first use"appeared then windows starts and Toshiba configuration came and grew normally.

At the end he told me he was setting up pilots and needed to restart, after restart the configuration of Toshiba starts once more, then configures the drivers and restart only to start the Toshiba Setup once more. The first power it gave me the ability to recover with windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit. I try it with the 64 bit

There is no way to break the while loop its configuration in windows, cant alt tab, ctrl alt del-> Task Manager becomes just hidden behind the configuration window

Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong and how I can actually get to use the new laptop?

    Hello

I think that there is no loop configuration. I also bought new Satellite U500 weeks barely and after that first commissioning is the same. The Configuration screen for first use appears very often, maybe up to 7 or 8 times
I could also switch between windows by using Ctrl + Alt + Delete, but I waited a bit until installation is complete. Since them my laptop works properly and I can use Windows 7 without any problem.

So just wait a little longer, up to an hour. I think that everything is ok with your laptop!

  • I have a aspire 5517 who will not, start seeing power turns on but nothing else happens.

I have a aspire 5517 that won't initialize power light turns on, but nothing happens.  I tried to connect an external monitor, but it still doesn't work.  All my stuff is on this computer and I need to save at least. Help!

    Hello..

You can try to remove the battery, then connect only the power adapter ON the computer and check if you are able to start the computer.

In order to return the data take the hard drive on the computer startup and slave with another computer and you will be able to transfer the files from the hard drive of your computer to another.

  • When start the computer can be turned on but nothing happens

Original title: computer does not start

    Hi all

Have a dual processor Intel running Vista with 2 GB of memory.

When start the computer can be turned on but nothing happens. That is the screen is not lighting, brief flashes KB on and nothing. I hae take the drive HARD case and implemented it is powered, but there is no sign that it is accessed at all when the machine is running. It seems that ot could be the HARD drive, but I think that there is a rom on the motherboard, which is accessible in the boot process and I wonder if this could fail. I don't have a spare drive to test what happens then is anyway I can be sure if I need new hard drive or m/Board?

While on the question - if I need a HARD drive, Vista is the one that crashed and I do not have a Cd with the machine when I bought it. Nor has created a cover of one! I have an old XP Pro upgrade disc and an original copy of Windows 2000 (so I can switch to XP). This is my best option? I can't afford £ 140 for Windows 7.

    Hi Eddie,.

Since this is a hardware problem, you should contact your computer manufacturer or a hardware technician to understand the defective material.

And also, since Windows Vista was preinstalled on the computer you must consult the manufacturer of the computer for resettlement or a recovery DVD.  Also survey about data recovery on hard drive crashed.

  • Satellite U500-1E0 - Webcam shows only a black screen

    Hello world

I have this problem, my webcam does not work. It has a blue light which indicates that it is running but it only shows the black screen. I tried to update software, uninstall, reintstalling once again, but nothing helped. I even downloaded a new driver from the Toshiba Web site but nothing.

Please, does anyone have a any solution to this problem?

    My laptop is Satellite U500-1E0

    Thank you

    Hey,.

If the webcam shows just a blank screen, I could imagine it's just a setting incorrect webcam.

On the Web from Toshiba site, I found a helpful article that I think:

  • Satellite U500/01b N-Trig DuoSense

    Hello

I recently bought a brand new U500/01b ([PSU9BA - 01b 002 | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/u500/psu9ba-01c002]) laptop with a built in of DuoSense N-Trig digitizer (multitouch screen) device. The device and the software worked _perfectly_ until about a week before, at startup, the software displays a notification window at the opening of "no devices found." The touchscreen still works, but the functionality is limited (no multitouch gestures or advanced, etc.) and I can calibrate is no longer the screen.

Despite the software didn't report no devices found, the material still appears as up and running correctly in Device Manager. I have three entries under scanners: HID-compatible device x 2 and N-Trig_DIGITIZER.

I have been troubleshooting and trying to solve the problem since the week without result. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software, uninstall and reinstall the drivers, removing devices (including deleting drivers) Device Manager and reinstall, restore the system to several different restore points, reinstall a new copy of Windows 7 from the retail disc and restore the factory default of TOSHIBA partition.

I've also looked everywhere where I can think of for the drivers updated or even earlier, but neither the [site Web from TOSHIBA | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/u500/psu9ba-01c002/download] or the [site Web N-trig | http://www.n-trig.com/CONTENT.ASPX?Page=Multi_touch] seem to have drivers for this model. The software/drivers, I have been using are in the start menu > all programs > TOSHIBA > Applications and utilities. They are the 2.224 version.

I tried only to 64-bit operating systems I want to use all 4 GB of memory. I have not yet tried a 32-bit installation.

Where should I go from here? I contacted N-Trig, but have yet to get a response. Is there a support email TOSHIBA I can write? Should I try a 32-bit installation? Are there alternative drivers available anywhere? I have a defective product?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I found it on the Web from Toshiba site:

  • Satellite Pro P100-124 starts upward, but nothing on the screen

    Hello world

I'm a newbie here & laptop but my companion got a satellite Pro P100 (Toshiba Satellite Pro P100-124 PSPA4E-001001EN) & it is my asked for help. Here's the problem:

Laptop starts to go through the procedure of starting with lights coming and cd player starts to work the rotation of fans, but nothing shows up on the screen

I said it could be the graphics card but could do with a starting point, I'm PC savvy but on the desktop, it's my first attempt at a portable computer so please be nice...

    Hello

    Have you tried this thing?

->, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the portable computer
    -> waiting for ~ 30 min 1 h
-> connect the two parts again and try to turn on the device

If this will not help, then it would mean that a hardware problem serious causes this problem and you will need to contact a Toshiba ASP technician to know exactly what s wrogn.

  • HP Pavilion a6750f turns on but nothing shows up on monitor

Hello. recently whenever I try to start my computer, the unit will start and the power led is on (also light in the back is green), and the fans start to run in what appears to be at full speed. However, nothing shows up on the monitor connected to it and no beeps. I would like to know when my computer would work and when nothing display because when the computer was going to start and work, fans stopped for one or two seconds after turning on the pc, and then the fans would start again. If the fan does not stop for a few seconds, I knew that the pc does nothing (what happened).  This problem has happened several times to me and how my brother used to face was cold start quickly (hold the power button until it stops) and start again until the fans stopped. This no longer works. I wonder if certain connected USB flash drives appear to be the problem; they have not worked when I plugged (on any computer). I checked all the cables, tried to re-plugging into another outlet (they both failed). the cables seem alright, but I have not yet checked inside the motherboard.  This pc is about 2, almost 3 years. any help is appreciated.

First of all, I would like to remove all devices and cables.

Then reinstall only the power, the monitor, the keyboard and mouse. If it starts, then isolate the problem by adding 1 element at a time.

If not start, I unplug the power cord and remove the memory. Add 1 to the first slot closest to the CPU. Then plug the power back and re - start. If it starts, repeat the process to find the memory defective barrette.

  • I can't get the bookmarks to record properly. The yellow star turns on, but nothing is recorded anywhere else. Do not display the registered bookmarks at all. How can I solve this in version 9.0.1?

I can't get the bookmarks to record properly... The yellow star lights (even when I return to the site), but there is no indication when I try to view all bookmarks. Nothing shows no more on the bookmarks toolbar. Backup files seem to be empty. I tried to restart with all add-ons disabled in safe mode and it still wouldn't save a bookmark correctly.

One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • Satellite C55-B901 - webcam turns off automatically

    Guys, have a camera problem...

When I video chat or just use the cam, it gets a detected or turned off automatically. Sleep immediately and charge function is displayed at the top right... Anyone can sort by my problems...

    Thnks in advnc,

    > some time, I get a message indicating that to begin with, connect a camera
Of my knowledge, the webcam module is connected to the USB motherboard controller s.
If there is a loser between the camera module and the motherboard connection, this error message may appear.

I recommend you to check the status of the webcam in Device Manager. If the webcam isn t listed, then it is certainly a problem with the connection of the webcam module.

  • Satalite Pro > Power lights but nothing else?

    Hi all

A small question. Received a Satalite Pro. The power turns on but nothing else.
I tried the HARD drive in my m200 Portege and its XP Pro running. The Satalite Pro has 1 > 512 MB ram stick inside.

The overall condition is good and I'm tempted to spend a few shillings to try to bring back to life or we are talking about a major surgery.
My knowledge is fundamental will have to spend to get fixed.

Would like to receive your ideas / suggestions.

    Thank you
    Neil

Well, in my opinion you should first check the RAM modules.
The faulty RAM memory would prevent the laptop to boot.
The RAM modules are the first parts that need to be checked.

But if the modules are ok, then part of the material such as the CPU or the motherboard could be defective.
In this case, the replacement of parts can be expensive

  • Satellite L70 - no sound from speakers but headphones work well

    Hello

I have a sound problem with my computer (satellite 70 L)
I tried everything but nothing to do, no audio output, but plugging the headphones into the audio port reinstall his works well, so I uninstall Conexant, even for its dts but its still doesn't work does not,

    Thank you

In my view, the symptoms of laptop are clear enough: he does not resemble his driver or system problem because the sound seems to use the headset.

I think that the internal speakers are defective. It seems strange to me that the two speakers have begun to malfunction at the same time, but this problem may occur.

But before you contact the authorized Toshiba maintainer to fix, I would recommend you to recover the laptop just to be sure that this problem is not related to the failure of the system/software to 100%.

  • HP 6500 E709n-lights but NOTHING else responds

I've had my 6500 during a few years now and very happy with it until today.  The printer in the market and then began to go through the features of wireless setup since I had to replace my router.  During the installation process of the wireless printer, the screen on the printer just froze.  No BUTTON does not at all, not even the power button.  I unplugged the printer and plugged it back in and the lights and the printer turns on but nothing else responds, not even the power button.  I tried everything I do not know and can not get the printer to answer anything at all.  Are there any other suggestions out there?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks again!  It works!
