Satellite U500-115 - black frame on his Full - HD BX2450 LED screen

Hello!

A few days ago, I bought a LED of Samsung BX2450 Full-HD screen.
I connected via HDMI for best quality.

Unfortunately the screen is not completely filled. I have a black box on the screen.

I read on some forums where they told me to turn on "Overscan" in the ATI Catalyst Control Center.
Unfortunately there is no such a function. :(

Then I downloaded the new version of Catalyst of ATI. The same problem.
Tried to return to graph-Drivers of Toshiba for U500. Once again, without success.
I'm unable to remove this black frame and use the entire screen.

I use the good resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Built in graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series if I understand! ;-)
Windows 7-64 bit.

Support of ATI says that Toshiba laptops are not supported by their software. 'Please contact the laptop OEM for support of the drivers for these books' (http://support.amd.com/de/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst112ReleaseNotes.aspx)

Can you please advise me what to do?
Y at - it an update of driver proposed by Toshiba or any other solution?

Tanks,
Mario

Hey,.

Do you use the FN + F5 key combination to switch to your external monitor?
Also interesting would be if you extend the desktop on the external monitor or if you use the external monitor only.

It is also important to use the native resolution of your external monitor and correct the refresh rate.
Normally in the options of the display driver you can also adjust the image if she s not full screen.

    Hello everyone,

I use a bluetooth mouse Saitek mouse with my Satellite U500-115 (OS: windows 7) and a have a real problem that is boring:

Every time that I do not use the mouse for 10 or 20 seconds the pilot (or what ever) rocking in a kind of 'sleep', and it can take up to 1 minute until the mouse is available again. It is defenitely is not a mouse problem. I tried the mouse with a laptop LG and a windows xp sytem and it worked perfectly.

    I tried the following:

1 put in place the current on the site of Toshiba bluetooth stack--> having not caused no difference in behavior.
2 put the mode to 'Full Power' energy saving--> that seemed to have some positive effect, but not always. Sometimes the time until the sleep mode begins seems to be a little more but not always. In the "Full power" the mouse seems to go back a little more quickly when he woke from the mode "standby mode".

Test: as I wrote this text, the mouse driver began the "sleep mode", now I'll move the mouse and take the time needed until the mouse will respond again a moment):
    45 seconds

Is it possible to put the bluetooth HID in some sort of "permanent way"? At least the touchpad also reacts independable mode of energy of the laptop; This is why I think that it should be possible to use a bluetooth HID in the same way.

    Thanks for any help!

    Michael

    Hello

Go to Device Manager, click Bluetooth radios and choose the generic bluetooth adapter. Then, right-click and select power management properties, umark, allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and press Ok.

I don't have a bluetooth mouse, so I can't check if works. Just assume...

  • The GMA 4500 can be activated on Satellite U500 - 115 (PSU5EE)?

    Hello

I own the U500-115 PSU5EE for about a week now. Today, I looked again on the Toshiba site and I noticed that the U500-115 uses the Intel GM45 Express chipset, see here: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-U500-115/1070387/toshibaShop/false/

    http://www.Intel.com/CD/products/services/EMEA/DEU/chipsets/398739.htm
Intel says that this chipset has a device integrated video GMA 4500MHD.

I have not seen the GMA 4500 in the Device Manager and I have not found a possibility to active it. Everest Ultimate says there is an Intel GMA 4500MHD built in and it is disabled.

So, can be activated and used instead the 4570 to save energy while being on the battery?

If it s not active, then from a good reason. The manufacturer doesn't have to trigger specific in a chipset functions, even if the manufacturer of the chipset says it is applied.

BUT: If there is a powersaving option that switches between graphics cards, then you won´t have influence on that because this will be controlled automatically by the system and the drivers.

    Hope I could help... :)

  • Satellite U500-115 - unknown devices after the Installation of Win XP

    Hello

I just installed Windows XP on a Satellite U500 - 115 (PSU5EE) and cannot get rid of several unknown devices in Device Manager.

Before to install the operating system, I changed settings AHCI in the BIOS to Compatibility-Mode (IDE), so I don't need to inject the SATA driver during installation.

    These are the unknown devices:

    ACPI\PNP0C32\1 (location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919)

    ACPI\PNP0C32\2 (location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919)

    ACPI\PNP0C32\3 (location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919)

    ACPI\PNP0C32\4 (location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919)

    ACPI\TOS6205\2 & DABA3FF & 0 (location: System compatible ACPI Microsoft)

Of course, I installed driver chipset and graphics driver from the toshiba download page, but the unknown devices are still there! Can you please tell me what kind of driver I need to install ACPI devices - and get rid of these unknown devices?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hans

    Hello

In my opinion the unknown devices belongs to the SATA interface controller and these appear as unknown device because you have installed the XP compatible mode.

Try to install the Intel Storage Manager driver.

ACPI\TOS6205 device can be a Bluetooth device.
You must install the battery Bluetooth to get rid of unknown device.

  • Satellite U500 - 115 PSU5EE fan error when executing an operating system based on linux

    Hello

    last week, I have a PSU5EE U500-115 with actuall bios 1.40, running Windows 7 without a problem.

But when running a linux based OS (like the Acronis image Boot-CD) the fan does not work and turns on only if the processor is really very hot and it is running only a few seconds on the highest State.

    This behavior can be fixed?

    Thank you

I'm not sure that your model of laptop is Linux supported so I do not think that you will find an official solution for this.
What you can try is to visit some Linux forum and see if anyone else has noticed the same error.

Another thing is that U500 is not long on the market and I don't think at the moment you will find many people who have the same laptop and use Linux OS.

  • Noise rattling during playback of music files on my Satellite U500 - 18 p

    Hello world!

I have a problem with the sound of my Toshiba Satellite U500 - 18 p.

I bought 4 days ago and suddenly found himself that music files and even system sounds make rattling in portable speakers and headphones also. I have not modified parameters. It is strange that the same files of music sometimes a good sound and next time when I play them they produce loud clicking.
I tried to install the new on official website of Toshiba sound card drivers, but the problem is still not resolved.

Please help me if you know what to do in this case.

    Hello Lidia

The laptop is all new so don't waste your time with such experiences.
Install the OS by using HARD drive recovery option - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm - and test it with the own operating system preinstalled.
If the same thing happens again, contact your local dealer, explain the situation and ask for Exchange.

I have Satellite U500-1EX and until now his and everything else works perfectly.

  • Satellite U500 - display has no brightness

    Hi, I'm Ian
    My laptop: Satellite U500
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium

Question: My screen is very dark and the screen is visible, as if the brightness setting has been set to a minimum. I adjusted the many times of adjusting brightness and the brightness of the screen does not change when plugged in with or without batteries and the batteries only.

Question: Anyone know what the problem is and how it can it be fixed?

    Thank you! :)

    Hey Buddy,

Have you checked the image on an external monitor?
    It works correctly?

In my opinion you should try to update the display driver. Maybe it works
In addition, you can change the display drightness using the FN + F6 and F7 key combination.

Normally, if the screen is very very he dim s inverter malfunction a FL and must be replaced from an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite U500 - black edges on external monitor

    Hello

I have problems with the HDMI to the TV connection.
FULL HD resolution is 42 "FULL HD TV about 4 cm of black borders all around the display.
I tried with 3 different HDMI cables, 2 different FULL HD TV and a LCD display, but were all of the black edges. Black borders will appear when you start computer (to the first screen Toshiba and BIOS too).
With the same cables and monitors but other laptop's picture with no edges.

When I tried with one HDMI (stl. U500) who have had on the another DVI output (screen LCD FULL HD) side has been the picture without black edges. With normal VGA - VGA cable is FULL HD photo also without edges.
    Where could be a problem?
The system is Windows 7 64 bit with the latest ATI display driver and the latest version of the BIOS (2.20).

    Greetings

    Hi Michael,

I m not a Satellite U500 owner but I guess there must be something wrong with the settings. I've never had a problem with the HDMI connection on my external monitor or TV. It s still works fine.

In any case, what screen resolution you are using the external monitor? You must use the native screen resolution on external monitor. Then, you should be able to use the full screen here.

I have this problem, my webcam does not work. It has a blue light which indicates that it is running but it only shows the black screen. I tried to update software, uninstall, reintstalling once again, but nothing helped. I even downloaded a new driver from the Toshiba Web site but nothing.

    Hey,.

If the webcam shows just a blank screen, I could imagine it's just a setting incorrect webcam.

On the Web from Toshiba site, I found a helpful article that I think:

    Hi all

After that I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on my Satellite U500, I get more options in the control panel of the Synaptics touchpad.
All I get is a preview menu and the animated demo, but nothing else (no control scroll box, no valve adjustment of the sensitivity or accidental touch function, etc.).

I used to have a bunch full of controls with preinstalled Vista.
I uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled the driver from the Web of Synaptics site several times, without success. Is there a solution for this?

  • Satellite U500 - 18L - stops randomly without notice

    Hello!

my laptop suddenly and randomly turn off (as if I plug the power) at any time (after 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes or even more than that), but it works normally in safe mode, without any problem. I searched the internet but I have found no help.
-It is not a heating problem.
-J' tried to remove the graphics card driver.
-J' even got Toshiba HDD recovery.

but the problem still there. What in the world could be the reason? and why it only happens in normal mode but not in safe mode. so frustrated :(

    Help, please

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say why this is happening. My first thought was maybe overheating.
Satellite U500 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine the fan cooling or cooling rack can be full of dust that blocks the flow of regular air.

Safe mode is a mode type of diagnosis of Windows and most device drivers are not loaded. Of course in this mode CPU does not work under stress and many processes are not active. In this laptop mode will not produce as much heat as usual.

Of course, I can't say with certainty that overheating is the reason described interruptions, but in my opinion, your first step should be portable professional cleaning. After doing this, you can check the feature and is if the same thing happens again. If so, it may be a hardware problem.

  • Satellite U500 - USB2.0 UVC webcam no longer works

    Hello

I just upgraded my Skype to the latest version and now my integrated webcam usb2.0 UVC does more work. In fact, she seems to light (blue light that appears next to it on my screen) but the image is black with a grey circle search turning in the middle.
My PC is a Satellite U500-1DZ.
To be honest, not been use my webcam for 3 months before that, but the last time worked perfectly with the old version of Skype

At the same time, my Council of Toshiba Tempro update me my driver my BIOS and display
I tried to do this several times but it doesn't work.
For the BIOS, I'm just able to download 44% of it, and then it just stops. Same with the display driver.

These 2 problems could be related?
    What can I do?

Thanks in advance for your help and response

It is not easy to say what the problem is here, but what you can try is to reinstall the software of the webcam of the Toshiba download page and check again.

If there is no problem with your laptop, in my view, there is no reason for updates, including BIOS update.

Anyway, the latest versions, you can find on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    Check it out.
