Satellite Z930: The battery is empty while off

Hello

I have a problem with my Z930-164: the battery loose about 8% every 12 hours when it is off.

I have the latest version of the bios (6.80) and the latest drivers. I'm with 64-bit windows 7.

Trying a lot of things, I founded this is the option: "sleep and Charge" in the bios. By default it is on mode Auto (1.5 A), there is a 2. 0 to mode too. If I disable it, the battery only drop 1% every 12 hours so that it is off.

In the default mode, why he does not power the USB while you sleep if there is a device? Do not drain the battery!

It's a huge problem, no?

null

Sleep function & validated load affects the battery working time.
Sleep & Charge allows to load external devices (such as Smartphones) even if the laptop is in mode 'sleep'.

Also enabled wake-up options (Wake up on LAN, etc.) which are available in the BIOS would lead to discharge the battery.
So disable these options if you don t want to discharge the battery.

    Hello

Is it possible to disable the bios beep when the battery is empty or the laptop's Hibernate?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L670.

Even when the sound in Windows is turned off the laptop do a annoying sound.

    Thank you!

Maybe it sounds silly, but I put t understand why that should be disabled. When the battery reaches the critical battery level you will be informed about this and portable must be connected to the power running or you have to save your work and turn it off.

Do you really want to work until the battery is completely discharged?

Anyway, AFAIK this notification level BIOS cannot be disabled.
Let's see if someone else is better informed than me.

This means that the charging system in your laptop is broken and needs repair or replacement.  Since you have replaced the battery, you know that is not the problem.

Too generic a question, can you clarify considerably more for us? Your question could be reformulated in the following way and always be true?

"I can't start my computer once he has had a BSOD. Something overheated, but I don't know. I removed the CMOS battery and replaced in order to asure me that a bad overclock on a core component has not caused the problem. Now, it restarts correctly, what is / was the problem? »

  • Satellite A110-149: the battery is empty after about an hour

    Hello
I bought a satellite A110-149, but I'm worried for the battery as in only 1 hour or a little more, it is already empty. Is this normal?

If I let my laptop connected to an outlet throughout the day, this can make my battery less efficient?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Laptop battery of specification of the run time is until 1:45. But I think it is quite unrealistic. Battery life depends on many factors like the profile selected in the intelligence tool, run the applications and processes and perhaps the use of the optical disk drive.

At the end I can tell you that there is no problem and this time rung is normal for this laptop and battery 4 cells.

  • Satellite L10-104 does not start after the battery totally empty

    Hello

After leaving the laptop the weekend without the charger, the battery was totally empty. So I plugged back it it to charge the battery for a day.

Now, when I press the power button the Green LED at the front lights up for about 3 seconds - nothing else is happening. No HARD disk does appear, no noise from fan coooling, nothing on the screen.

Does anyone have ideas, what I could do to make it work again?

    Thank you

    Hello

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
Wait a little (1 hour) and then reconnect the two parts.
Then try turning on the laptop computer. Maybe it helps

If this will not help, then a hardware problem might be possible
In this case the RAM modules must be verified in the first step.

    See you soon

  • Satellite Z930-130-how to REALLY turn off?

    Hi all

Also funny that my question may sound... it is really serious!
I have big problems in the course of the life of the battery (not so much a single charge, but affecting the "life" of the laptop itself!) because it seems even to be a way to disable COMPLETELY this laptop! It will be as a joke for a laptop of advertising with a 'eco' label that is supposed to help reduce the waste of natural resources (which was an important part of my purchase decision).

When I put the laptop Hibernate or turn it off by long-pressing the 'Power' button, battery mode indicating LEDS etc are always on, the battery is slightly drained even when the laptop is turned off. While of course LED will certainly not use a lot of power, it means that the next time I plug it into my computer, + a new charging cycle is initiated + that could have been avoided without it. With a battery usually survive 1000 charge cycles, which will force me to buy a new battery (by the way: what a shame how "yesterday" and that the battery is built-in and not replaceable by the buyer!) within 2 years if I plug off a few times every day.

Alltogether that sounds a lot like "planned obsolescence" and I'm annoyed by the mere thought of support something like that. Basically, I'm very happy with the Z930, so, I'm more frustrated by this completely unnecessary battery drain. No idea how to activate these LED to the wide and really turn off computer? Or an update of the BIOS just the thing?

BTW, I would be also grateful for advice on how to put pressure on the softer touchpad mouse buttons and easy - on my laptop, they have to be hurry * very * hard.

    My model: Toshiba Satellite Z930 - 130 33.8 cm (13.3 Zoll) Ultrabook (Intel Core i7 3667U, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Intel HD 4000, win 8)

    Thank you, r.

  • Stop U300-130 of the satellite so the battery is removed after the start

    Hello

If I start my PC with the power of the battery only and then delete afterwards, even if I connect to the laptop do mains,.
the PC will go down as if no power source is available.

The same thing happens if I hibernate with a single battery, connect to remove AC battery and starts.
the PC will run for a while (while the blue/red battery light stays on as if he was in charge) and then dies.

Seems to be a BIOS problem, like anyone seen something similar?

The laptop is a Satellite U300-130.

    Thank you!

Hmmm. This problem is new to me and it s really strange.

But first I want to say that it s not recommended and not recommended to remove the battery while the laptop is running and connected to the power adapter.
If you want to remove the battery and then shut down the laptop first, unplug the power adapter, remove the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

However, please page European driver of Toshiba and new BIOS is available, try to update!

    Hi all

I had a search on the forum but not found all the messages related to a question, I do experience where the battery will run out at night even when the R700 is powered off.

I recently disabled the option of USB charge but this has not resolved the problem (even if I never used it actually load anything, it seemed to me a good starting point).

I was wondering if this issue has been seen a resolved elsewhere before asking Toshiba to replace battery?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry 8520 does not charge when the battery is empty

I use my blackberry curve 8520 for 5 months before selling it to a friend. He forgot to charge the battery, and now my Blackberry is empty and does not load. I tried to load a full battery of half and it works. The phone is not responding to synchronize eather. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

BBs will not work without minimum charge. I recommend to leave it on the charger for at least 2 hours before trying anything.

In addition, these batteries do not like exhaust totally... is it possible to make the battery unusable if they are drained. So, if she will not accept a charge, then, is probably not good longer, and a spare battery must be obtained.

You need to develop that little more... it's kinda a sparse description.

Good luck and let us know!

Don't forget to set it to something shorter when finished or your battery will stop very quickly.

  • Satellite on Mini L9W - B - the Tablet battery is empty

I have my mini click for a day and my Tablet battery is empty, while the keyborddock battery is always 100%.
Click mini says I need to load. Why can I not use the keyboarddock battery?

    Please check your BIOS version.
There is a new BIOS v1.7, which solves the problem with the keyboard dock charger status which was not recognized by the system of window correctly.

You should also know that the battery
#1 refers inside the Tablet and the battery
#2 refers to the battery in the keyboard docking station.
The battery status can be checked in the Windows Mobility Center window.

When you use the tablet with the keyboard dock, the second battery (battery inside the keyboard docking station) is the first source to power! It also happens that the battery could offload deeply
In such cases, it of needed to keep the dock Tablet and keyboard to recharge for at least 24 hours.
The tablet should be connected to the power adapter and moored at the keyboard docking station.

    Nice to hear that! :)

    > But I still can't start external USB cdrom
Have you checked if your laptop computer (BIOS) supports booting from an external USB drive? I doubt it would be possible on old Satellite 5200. If you exchange your CD-ROM drive. You can look on eBay for the part of second hand, they are a little cheaper. :)

  • C50-A-19 t satellite does not start with the battery mounted

    OK, first post here.

I see similar questions coming, but as they are never QUITE the same, I am that posing in a new thread.

I left my Satellite from one day to the next (do not remember if I had put off, or he simply had 'gone to sleep', but it has been connected to the grid).

When I got to reboot, I got a power light on, but screen blank (black). After reading a few similar complaints on the internet (via another laptop!), I tried to remove the battery and power from the grid.
This worked well (I write him in this state right now).

But whenever I put the battery and try again, it will fail in the same way.
I tried this company "press and hold power for 30 seconds" without success (but I'm not 100% sure of the EXACT procedure actions sequence).

    I have a few questions:

    (1) I take the laptop away from my office - is there a problem with everything just works like this (i.e. of the grid, with no battery inserted) indefinitely?

    (2) in any case, I want to solve the problem.
If the battery has run COMPLETELY flat, and that the laptop can not it lights but also operate normally?

Alternatively, is probably that the battery has not experienced a catastrophic failure and simply needs to replace?
If so, I'll just buy a. BUT...

What I don't want to do, is to pay for a costly spare battery, to find that it was actually another factor at the origin of the problem, and I'm back to square one and out of Pocket!

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hello

According to your assignment, in most cases, you use the laptop connected to the power adapter but no battery. Is this correct?

First we need to know that if the AC adapter is plugged in, the laptop should work correctly with - and without inserting the battery.
If you unplug the AC adapter, the laptop should automatically switch to battery power. In this case, it is important that the battery is pretty cool power to provide the power for the laptop.
In case the battery is empty, the laptop will not light.

I recommend to insert the battery plug the power adapter and charge the battery for a longer period of time.

You should also check if the battery is recognized by the Windows system and the battery charge indicator (battery in the taskbar icon) shows the State of battery charge.

In case the battery is fully charged and the laptop does not work using the battery power only, you should test the new battery.
If new battery does not solve the problem, s for laptop hardware needs an audit.

  • L50 - B satellite will not start when the battery is completely discharged

    Hello

My Toshiba L50 - B won't start when the battery is fully drained but connected to the power outlet.
I try to work most of the time on the battery to keep the battery in good shape, but when I forgot to turn off the battery drains and the system will not start when I plug in the adapter.

The battery charge indicator is orange light as it should. Only when the battery is fully charged to 100%, it will run at startup and function normally after that. I tried to turn on the laptop several times during the charge cycle, but only when the charge indicator changes from yellow to white it starts. Tested for 2 bodies.

My old Toshiba always immediately turned on when I plugged the adapter even when the battery has been completely drained. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks for responding... I hope well :-)

    Toshiba L50 - B
    Windows 8.1
Any standard/original setting since I only acquired this laptop a month ago.

The laptop should light up if the power adapter is plugged in and power the laptop corectly any if the battery is empty or during charge.

Please check the version of the BIOS that is available on your mobile phone and compare with the BIOS available on the page of the Toshiba UE driver
Maybe you need to update the BIOS, but to be honest, the history seems really odd to me and I m afraid that there could be some power supply electronic problem

So in the worst case, the laptop must be checked by authorized service provider.
