save data on hard drive Ubuntu

I have connected a second SATA hard drive to my PC Windows 7 to try to copy important data on this subject. The player does more boot in his original laptop. Disk management "sees" the drive on the PC, but it does not appear in my computer. Is there a way to access the drive and copy the data from it?

  • Why firefox has slow response when I save images on hard drive?

I have windows 7 64 bit and Mozila firefox worm 17.0.1. I have the following problem. When I try to save an image from a site (right mouse click and save as) the disk hard from my pc, firefox response is slow. It takes about 6 to 10 seconds. I thought that it was a matter of file size, but it turned out that it was not relevant because it was images of 10 KB to 500 KB. I did the following:
    -clear history
-clear the firefox cache and the cache folder in my profile
-Delete the downloads.sqlite and localstore.rdf files
    -J' changed the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone and services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone false
    -clear the downloads window
    -Disable all add-ons

After all this, the problem remains
Then I started firefox in safe mode (help-> restart with the disabled... modules). The problem remains.
Then I disabled the windows firewall and Microsoft security essentials (real-time protection). I don't have any other antivirus or firewall on my pc. Nothing happened.

Then, I created a new profile (reset firefox). Nothing happened. A last attempt, then, remained to be done. Restart in safe mode. So I followed these steps.
I ran msconfig and disabled Microsoft Security Client to start tab and Microsoft antimalware Service on the services tab. So, I did a boot in safe mode with network support and disabled windows firewall. Guess what. Nothing happened.

I noticed that when I tried to record images, in the process, there was a significant activity of hard drive (the hard drive activity led indicator was constantly lighting) and firefox in the upper left corner, shown the message does not for about 6 to 10 seconds. You understand that saving a picture of 19 Ko in 10 seconds is not normal.

Is - this problem has to do with the cache? The disc is a SSD (solid state drive). Do you think that it would be preferable to redirect the in-memory cache? (I have 6 GB of total RAM). This problem was also in previous versions of firefox, but I think that with this version, the problem is more common. This is not the case with all the photos, but it happens with more than 65% of the images.

It also happens when loading a web page, but it could be a question of a heavy web page that uses a lot of resources in my system, while loading. The problem is the same. Constant hard disk activity and it takes time to load the web page. The problem with the loading of the web page, is not as common as with saving images.

I think it's a question of management of the cache. What is your opinion?

    Thank you.

The cause of my problem was the jump lists, which has Windows 7. There are two types of jump lists, automatic or custom. Automatic jump lists caused the slow decline in firefox via Windows Explorer. Finally, it was a windows problem exploring and not firefox. Windows 7 introduces many new features that cause slow system performance. In any case, the solution to the problem is to follow the steps:
    1. open my computer and on the address bar paste the path: %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
    2. press CTRL + a
    3. press SHIFT + DELETE and delete the entire folder
I think the respective windows Explorer jump list is one that begins with 1b4dd67f29cb1962, in which case you do not want to delete the list of every jump in the folder. If you use firefox, download a file and then go to the above mentioned path and view the files by date. The most recent file must be the correspondent with firefox.

  • Equium A300D - how to save on another hard drive?

I just got an alert Tempro my 'C' drive is full of more than 75%. My laptop (Toshiba Equium A300D) seems to have 2 hard drives, "Vista C:" label, and an another 'E:' labeled 'Data'

The 'C' drive appears currently 31 GB on 117 GB of free, when the disc of 'E' indicates 108 GB GB 113.

Is it possible that I can save documents to the disk 'E', which has a lot more free space, while retaining my existing directory structure? At the present time, all my diirectories and its subdirectories, including Vista 'Documents', 'Music' folders etc are on the 'C' drive, and I really don't want to end up with two sets of directory structures.

    Hi BlissC

You can save your documents, photos, etc. on the second partition. So you can save disk space for applications that you install on the first partition.

Just right click on each file that is stored in your user directory (e. g. music, documents, photos, downloads, etc.), and then choose Properties. There you can change now where the file should be saved.

I also moved my documents on the second partition. :)

  • Why my data Ext Hard Drive WORD & EXCEL from my old computer does not recognize my new computer with Windows 7.

Recently, I replaced an old computer running Windows XP with a newer computer of Windows7.

I have TWO Toshiba external hard drives 2... one of them (Mdl HDDR250E03X) is used for external backup of data on my computer.  I started using it for my old computer that was running on Windows XP.  Due to a Trojan infection, I had to buy a new computer running Windows 7.  I thought that the hard drive is simply a plug-and-play device, BUT my new computer has not recognized that there is a device plugged until someone suggested that I make a change in the Device Management section (which only works at Midway).  My new computer now sees that the drive is there, BUT the data displayed under a name of file/folder (dec22a69bbd43e6966c9935e4720f7).  Data include WORD files, EXCEL files and .jpg files.  When I click on this long file/folder name, I get a long list of records as well as other unknown files that I don't recognize.  Inside each of the files is the SAME set of files (EULA, LocalizedData and SetupResources.dll.  When I try to save a WORD or EXCEL file on this disk, I tells me that the drive is empty, then the path and destination does not allow me to record anything.  I suspect that the problem lies in the Windows 7 software to recognize the hard drive but, I'm totally new to this Windows 7.  Everyone recognizes what is the problem?   I KNOW that the data is always there because I ran my virus on this single drive software and I could see many file names as they were read.

  • Can I save one external hard drive to another on a mac?

I have just changed Windows for iMac and I have no idea of the backup of the system on a mac.

I have an external hard drive that is used for the pictures I use Photoshop and Lightroom. I want to know how I can backup this disc on an another external hard drive and update only the files that have changed on the original disc.

It would be also possible to save the iMac to a third external hard drive?

I would really appreciate the help.

The best way to save your Mac's Time Machine. It can save the Mac gradually and keeps a history of backups, so that you can go to different moments in time when you restore your Mac.  Time Machine can also include external drives to the backup, see this link: the basics of the Mac: Time Machine

If you want to save your Media Player separately use cloning software for updating a copy cloned, for example carbon copy clone.

  • Why has it antivirus analyze more data on hard drive files?

I have always noticed that when I run a full scan of my system, the antivirus scans files that sum up to more than the data in my hard drive.
Like when I run a full scan of my antivirus shows (7.0 free Avast) it has scanned 59 GB while the total used space in my hard disk is about 53 GB.

It could be analyzed another partition in addition to your C: drive. Most computers have some recovery partitions, so even if not create you another partition, the recovery partition could be what he adds to the analysis.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  • Recovering data from hard drives of laptop data

    1. laptop computer work with a hard drive to work (I know that this is the case if you insert the disc of the laptop, it works, it loads windows xp, you can use the laptop according to the normal without errors / problems etc.)

We have a disk external drive kit (again I know works as I use to connect to a multitude of other hard drives via the USB port of a desktop PC) and I have another kit to different hard drive for the first USB SATA hard drive recovery kit and it does the same thing when you try to access the data on the hard drive for laptops

If I connect the laptop hard drive to my desktop PC it won't appear in my computer even if you right-click my computer--> manage--> disk management

The drive appears here as not initialized and will fail if you try to initialize the disk indicating there CRC errors and it will not assign a drive letter.

Is there a quick way to access the data on the disk?

As much as I know readers are not encrypted as when loading after the bios POST, you get not all blue / violet loading gauges, this is Windows XP SP 3 so do not use bit locker or something like that.

What should I do to get access to data as quickly as possible without making too many steps or waiting for utils recovering data, etc..

Also, what do Lenovo for the drives causing headaches as much?

Am confused with your part external kits...

In any case, I assume you have a computer laptop lenovo work and office work. You try to connect lenovo's HARD drive in a USB drive kit and extract data from the desktop.

    (1) is the disc encrpted HARD lenovo? Check the Bios and also if lenovo security software are installed.

    (2) the fastest way I'm doing it today is to connect laptops and office to a network. Share the disk, and then extract the data from the laptop or desktop. A second option is remote laptop and retrieves the data.

    (3) another possibility is that your laptop is XP, IE the formatting isn't AHCI (check the bios under sata), it is in compatibility mode. The Office use Vista or Windows 7?

    Hi @dg_hlc!

Personally, I would say to get a new drive if possible because the problems related to the card of the unit are not easy to solve.

Of course, you can try to replace it if you want, but I do not recommend. I'm not saying it, not only because it is an operation not caring and not recommended in general, but especially because the risk to damage further the drive is too big and that the chances of finding an exact match of a PCB are really weak because of differences in the firmware over the years.

The danger is that it can () will have different settings for how align the heads to the tracks on the surface of the physical disk, and when it tries to write anything (which it will) it will result in all current data is erased.

I hope this helps and good luck!

  • Save on external hard drive

I used the back upward in my windows xp professional (version 5.1, sp3).  It seemed to be working (he went through all the files), but when I checked my external hard drive nothing has been saved.

I want to be able to put in place so that I can save every day or every week.

    Hi Danimama,

1 have you tried with another external hard drive?
    2. using any third-party backup program to backup?

You must follow the following steps until you can run the backup.

    1. you can try to temporarily disable your anti-virus and malware during execution of the backup.
    2. check if the external hard drive has bad sectors on it.

    Step 1:

Run a chkdsk on the external hard drive and check for errors.

I need to update all those things while maintaining the old hard drive. Well, I don't know how to do it without other wipe the HD, fitness with an upgrade of the OS, or a link is not my new Windows 7 to my old hardware configuration. I need to keep all programs, files, folders, and data I have on the hard drive.

How can I do all three and the link to my new Windows 7 for my new hardware?

    Hello

    You can not do

the old hard disk contains the drivers for the motherboard that is old and in all likelihood will not start when it is installed with the new motherboard

a clean install is normally required when changing motherboards

    __________________________________________________________

and I think that you should also read this on the granting of licences and motherboards:

If you have a license to OEM preinstalled, DELL, HP, etc any update at the Board level or changes must be done jointly with the computer manufacturer

an OEM license is linked to the original tho hardware it is installed on this computer life

When the computer dies the license dies with him, unless the manufacturer is willing to help you

If you have a retail license and reactivation problems:

    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.

    4. take the phone activation option and brace yourself for a real person instead of the automatic fast process

  • Should I initialize a New (New to this computer, but it's a backup with the DATA disk) HARD drive?

I have an internal backup drive that I used for a computer that crashed.   Hard drive that had the operating system gone wrong. I'm sure that the backup drive (no operating system, only the Acronis backup data) is ok.  I took, put it in a box of hard drive and plugged on my other computer to get all the data out of it. It is recognized in but device manager not MY computer.   Information have read so far wants choose me to go to right click on my computer, Manage, and chose the disk management.  Then he wants me to initialize the disk. The information said once the disk initialized, I should be able to access all data on the disk.  I do? I don't want to erase all data on the disk. I prefer to take it to a PRO for $100 if there is even a small chance I could damage or erase the data on the disc. Please notify.

Do not initialize the disk.  That would erase all data.  It is possible that the hard disk enclosure does not work right, causing Vista to see the player correctly as not initialized.

Did you create Acronis Secure Zone on the drive for backups?  If so, you will need to use the same program from Acronis to access. It would be interesting to boot from the Acronis recovery disc and see if it can read backups. Boulder computer Maven

  • Data on hard drive recovery

I had a Windows 7 HP Desktop - works fine - I messed up the cleaning unit and killed the CPU!  I want to get the data on the hard drive. I removed it from the old PC. I got a USB 2.0 to SATA cable to transfer data.

I now have a new machine Windows 8.1. When I plug the USB cable in I see the hard drive. He wants a successful logon. I have tried everything I can think on but can not dispense from the logon screen.

    What is the secret?

    John

Cable converters are notoriously little reliable.

Use a usb box, when you plug the usb key into the reader will appear just like any other.

Depending on where your data is located you will need to 'own' access and copy data
