Saving my desktop

A few years ago, I bought my PC from Best Buy. I don't know what version of Windows I had when I bought it because I had a serious virus, my computer crashed and a friend installed Windows 7 for me and I am using that since then. Now, a few years later I have this screen telling me that my Windows is not genuine. I know that this isn't, but I wouldn't pay $100 - $200 for another version. Also, I don't know if I registered my PC when I bought it, it has been too long. I hope that Microsoft could confirm this and help me with this problem. Perhaps with a serial number, this problem can be solved. Someone help me please!

In this case, there should be a sticker on the back or the underside of the computer (if it's a laptop, it could be under the battery).  This sticker has your code product key, which is what you pay for.  Using this code, you can reinstall Windows and as long as you use this code, you have to pay anything.

If you have lost this vignette, or if it is removed, then you have to buy a new code.  Remember, the key code is what you pay: not the CD or the operating system.  Those who are free and you can download at anytime from Microsoft operating system installation files, but the key is the part that you have to buy.

  • Energy saving changes my wallpaper

    Hello.  I use an Asus with Vista Home Premium computer.  I installed Power4Gear to manage my energy saving options, and I love it. However, when the computer is unplugged and goes into battery saving Mode, desktop wallpaper is made background base Asus. I love all the other power, however, the recording options.  I just can't understand how to disable this feature, because I like the wallpaper :) How can I disable JUST the changing wallpaper?

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

    To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Perform the check and the clean boot if you have the problem.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    Reset the computer to start as usual

    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    This can happen because certain parameters within the power4gear program.

    I suggest that you uninstall the Power4gear software and check if the wallpaper changes.

    If the wallpaper does not change so it might be a problem with the Power4gear program.

    Could the BBM Contacts... There are situations where those who are not properly saved with desktop software. Reference:

    If you moved to BBM 7, then your BBM contacts are saved "the cloud" as part of your association ID BB to BBM.

    Otherwise, you can compare the databases on your BB against what is contained in the backup file to determine exactly what is missing:

    You would need a 3rd party PC app to analyze and present you the backup file "readable" format to compare.

    Serial numbers contain only numbers.  You can have a redemption code that is used to obtain a serial number (or you are using the wrong serial number).

  • Saving and opening of the bosses?

    OK, I'm in Illustrator CC and using the object > creator of model to make new models.

    but I seem to be unable to find a way to save these models to be able to open them in other documents.

    I went to "Save the library of nuances as ASE" but then he said color chart with gradients and patterns will not be saved.

    To create a new panel color chart for store samples model, you must:

    (a) open the swatches Panel and delete all the nuances that you want not (optional)

    (b) choose Save the library of shades as I (not ASE) in the swatches Panel menu (I suggest you save it to the desktop! So you can easily find out who!).

    The saved file is actually a simple Illustrator (empty) file.

    To use this file with another Illustrator projects choose window > Swatch Library > other libraries, and navigate to the file saved Illustrator (Desktop).

    At this point, another swatch Panel opens on the screen.

    Drag the shades desired this new Panel to the document. Then, close the new Panel.

    in the dashboard Firefox opens to a completely different site. The site that opens is a site that I set up for my children's grandparents to watch videos and see photos of the children. This Web site opens each time. I'm not be directed to a site at random each time. This is the case when I try to visit the webupd8.org OR one of several websites using .desktop file or enter the url you want in the dashboard. Whenever I went to my own domain.

    It happens that I have also several sites registered in a reminder in the Firefox icon in the Launcher sidebar thing in Ubuntu.

    I checked the url of the home page in Firefox and it has been set at startpage.com, but then when I looked at the default programs in Ubuntu, I noticed that the default program for the web had been unintentionally configured to use a .desktop file that leads to t he admin for my Web site login page.

    I changed this back to Firefox and the problem was solved.

  • Need to update/import my favorites/bookmarks from old G4 on my G5

    Monitor to leave the old G4 running Firefox 3.6.23, then (as no picture the screen) using Firewire to mount the G4 HD on my G5 running Firefox 7.0.1

    Need to update my Favorites/Bookmarks onto the G5(which as laptop didn't use so much)
    On the Firewire G4 'Disk' opened Firefox -> 'Bookmarks' -> 'Organize Bookmarks', & in Library Window -> 'Import & Backup' 'wheel'  -> Manual Backup -> filename j.son saved to Desktop of G5.
    'Force Quit' the old Firefox, & opened the 7.0.1  -> Bookmarks -> 'Show All' --& in Library clicked on Import & Backup 'wheel' -> select 'Restore' -- Choose file x Manual, select the 'filename j.son' file on the Desktop(supp. a 'backup' of my G4 Fav.s/Bookmarks) -> 'Open'.
    This promotes a 'drop-down' that says that 'all of your prev. bookmarks will be replaced'.  Click 'ok' -- nothing happens, nothing is replaced
    Tried several times from scratch -- no change.  No Bookmarks imported.    What to do?

    Am not sure if what you found is different from what was initially on the Firefox search re. Bookmarks -- which didn't work, but at did manage to get them transferred to my G5, am going to mark it 'solved' so as not to take up more folks time.

  • Changes start unexplained

    We have Windows Vista Home Premium and after have logged you on the computer seems to have been reset as if the computer was new.  The desktop wallpaper has changed, saved the desktop icons (for example, our documents) were missing, as well as other programs registered.  We immediately close the computer and later when we restarted it - everything was back to our settings. (Our custom paper painted office as well as all the saved documents & programs.) Can you explain what happened and why?

    Could be a temporary problem or an early indication of problems in the future.

    Keep good backups.

  • Cannot print in windows xp limited account

    I have a HP Deskjet 1000 J110 connected to a Windows XP sp3 via USB device. The printer will not print when using a limited account. The HP printer Assistant does not appear to be any communication problem with the printer; He is able to show ink levels, device information and clean the printer when running under a limited account. I tried to print with different programs, including Firefox, notepad ++ and OpenOffice.org. The print queue status changes of 'winding' to 'impression' then 'print '.     I tried the following things

    • Check the physical connections
    • Restart the print spooler
    • Uninstalled drivers form old printers
    • Unplugged printer, driver uninstalled, installed updated, plugin printer driver
    • Printing without paper, lack of paper is not detected
    • Ran HP print and Scan Doctor, fixed an issue with print queue

    The problem is that when printing with a limited account, administrator accounts are able to print.

    The account via the display panel > user accounts and created a new. It is now print again, but I lost all my favorites and other information. Only the files that were saved were Desktop and My Documents.

    Step 2: Use windows search to search for the missing files.

    This happens usually if all files in the folder or the folder is used by all programs that are running in windows.

    You can check if it is used by another program, then that and close then try to zip.

  • Not remote desktop connection to use saved credentials

    Even if I clicked on "Edit" and put in my credentials Windows 7 Remote Desktop connection not automatically uses it.
    The checkbox 'always ask for credentials' is NOT checked.
    When I connect to other Windows clients on the target computer even their saved credentials are used properly.
    Is this a bug of Windows 7 Desktop connection remote or I do something wrong?

    To connect to a remote computer that computer must be turned on, it must have a network connection, Remote Desktop must be enabled and you must have access to the network to the remote computer (this could be through the Internet), and you must have permission to connect. For permission to connect, you must be on the list of users.

    Have you tried to change the settings of the remote computer?

  • I can't see or access my saved PDF files (or icons) in my files or on my desktop of 64-bit windows 7 (catalyst control problem?).

    The only time where I can see them is when I'm about to save an another PDF to a file or to the desktop during 'save process' in which it contains some saved PDF files.

    I tried 'show desktop' and opening adobe reader to see the files or icons, but they will not show.

    I have a new HP computer with windows 7 64-bit and windows has failed twice. Time just after the new facility, just before I was able to create the rescue and then disk after two weeks of use; telling me to re - install! Now, months later, I have Catalyst Control Center errors / problems. So I don't know if it's all the partners. Should I reinstall windows and hope my rescue disc work?

    Maybe I should have asked "how to get a free replacement for a windows 7 lemon?

    Right. You must save a separate project once per day at a minimum, copy so that you have several backups in place. Make sure automatic backup is running.
