Saving the Photos to the CD/DVD Combo drive

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 D1037, which is equipped with a Combo DVD/CDRW 48 X drive and spin with Windows XP Home Edition. Recently bought the DVD-R and DVD + R recordable discs to save my family photos, but the reader doesn't recognize or the other type of disc. As an alternative, I was forced to use disks of Philip CD - R80 - this works well, but do not propose the same capacity than a DVD

After reading the operating instructions of the drive must be able to read DVD-R and write on DVD + R.

The discs are Sony 16 X compatible 4.7 GB / 120 min AccuCORE

Dell Combo drive is a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481 b

Any help would be greatly appreciated... your so so good!

    Hello

How old is your machine? If you still have your warranty, so why not give your machine to a local service partner?

So if you don t give something on your guarantee you can trade your coins. But to look for the pieces on google and you won´t get any help from toshiba (e.g. manual disassembly or something similar).

I tried long before your request and I made my experience that if you want to open your machine your completely on your own.

    Hello!

Well, to me it sounds like it's the Linux boot disk isn't working properly if you can start the Toshiba Recovery disk successfully.
Have you tested the same disk of Linux to another computer or laptop?

In your case, I would try to burn the Linux disk again and use high quality as Verbatim DVD - R or TDK media.
Never had any problems with the two manufacturers.

    Hello

You can find a small hole near the CD/DVD to eject the drive.

Put a small card or PIN in this hole and the CD/DVD drive should eject manually.

In my case, it always helps.

    Good luck

In your case, the laptop freezes 2 minutes because the BIOS trying to find STRANGE.

    Hello Hendry,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have any questions using the CD/DVD drive in Windows 7 computer. We will certainly help you with the same.

I would like to know some more information on this issue to help you better.

    1. Are you able to access the other CD/DVD drive in Windows?
    2. You try to install the drivers for any device?
    3. When say "Windows send me error code (19)", you get this error message in Device Manager?

In the meantime, please follow the below suggestion to solve the problem.

The error code 19 occurs when data in the registry for the device and its driver were damaged.

For more information on this error, follow the link below:

  • Need a new CD-RW/DVD combo drive for Satellite 1805 - S274

    Hello, everyone!

I have a portable Satellite 1805-S274 with a CD-RW/DVD defective (MAST * A UJDA710). It does not read the CD or write anything. I tried to clean it, but no response. I think he's dead now.

I wonder if it is possible to replace it with a new drive? This model can adapt? Where to buy? Is there an internal model for writing CD and DVD?

I would be very happy for any advises.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Andrei,

CD/DVD players are generally classified as IDE (internal drive enclosure) which are located primarily in the desktop computers and 'slim' that are usually used in laptops.

Your UJDA710 falls into the category of 'slim', so you should be able to substitute any Player DVD of the same specification. You can buy a DVD player base of various suppliers (check Google) and you will then need to transfer any hardware Assembly of your old drive to the new. This will cause by unscrewing the mounting brackets, plastic trim panels and possibly the flange.

I changed my TEAC DW224E existing for a carpet * a UJ825 so that I could burn DVDs.

Another consideration that might be important for you is the type of CD/DVD media. I chose the UJ825 because it does not use a sliding drawer to hold the CD/DVD, an important issue for me because my son had already broken the original disc once drawer.
The UJ825 uses a mechanism of power split that I find much safer to use.

One last point is the setting of your new drive. More slim drives design are pre-set by the manufacturer to master or Cable Select, and you must make sure that you buy corresponds to the current value of your existing drive. If you install with the wrong setting that your laptop does not start correctly. Check the other postings in these forums for this problem.

The only thing I did recently was (against-heart/foolishly?) to update iTunes! I did the driver check etc, but nothing seems to happen - Windows 7 tells me the drive has the current driver etc. I tried to uninstall the driver and the drive, then only reinstall - go!
