Scan negative

I use 10 items and for the life of me, I can't have Photoshop to scan in my B & w negatives. The just will not open in Elements10 at all. Why?

Dear 99jon,

I did as you said. I found the file and copied everything like you said to do. Then I did another scan try using the new Epson V500 scanner purchased. I couldn't believe it worked! I scanned a b & w negative and it actually scanned directly in and opened in Photoshop Elements 10, just as it was supposed to.

I caught that scanner down and hung my older scanner, the HP Scanjet 5500c to see if he would give me the same results, but unfortunately, it didn't. It still does not work. He even made Photoshop Elements 10 freeze. It was probably too old. But well, one out of two isn't bad. I'm happy with just the most recent scan works as it should. So today, I'll take the scanner rained down, put the newest one and be happy with what I have.

I want to thank you everyone in this forum for all of the help I received. I couldn't have done it without you. And that's the truth!

Thank you guys a bunch

Fred Harris

I'm working on the 2011 Macbook Pro, El Capitan.

CanoScan 9900f is able to scan negative films. Scannersoftware is Twain. I scan from PhotoshopElements 8. I installed the software Elements with Maverick and it worked well. After the update to El Capitan, I had problems. When you scan a strip of film with negatives of exhibit no. 6 of the scanningproces stops when the first image is scanned. I can restart switching to another program (eg Finder) and return to PhotoShop elements/scaning of switching. Then, 2 photo number is scanned, saying that photo 2/6 is scanned. Same procedure to scan photo 3. Until the 6/6 is scanned. and the trial ends telling me to change the images in Photoshop.

Is it posible to make I work on the new iOS 10.5 or should I reinstall Maverick?

    / Jorgen

I would say you have a compatibility issue. The 9900F is out 13 years ago and the latest driver Canon made available for Mac OS X 10.4. If you had it working on the Mavericks then you seek this OS installed again, either as a virtual machine or the second partition on your Mac or your external hard drive.

  • All-in-one Officejet Pro 8620: officejet pro 8620 all-in-One scan negative

How to scan negatives and 35mm on a HP Officejet Pro 8620?  I recently read it is possible on older versions, but can not find all the information about the printer I have.  Please answer quickly because it's something I have to do for my business.

    Hello

Negative scanning requires a special film holder (as in This example), indeed such was offered by older models and not in the past years.

The 8620 do not offer this kind of functionality, as well as any current inkjet all-in-one device and you can't scan negatives with your printer.

Only proffesional scanners offer a these these days, not all in one of the devices.

Here's the only model I have managed to find to your purchase today, there could be some more and it's worth trying a such google searh:

  • HP ENVY 4500 Series (network): scan negatives

I have the HP ENVY Series 4500 (network) printer/scanner/fax machine and would like to know if it is possible to scan 35 mm negatives and save them as a digital file on my PC?

    Hi @jvtorto,

Only scanners with a media support Transparent able to digitize 35 mm slides.  The Envy 4500 series does not include such a feature and therefore does not support the slide or negative scanning.

    You can consider a scanjet.

You need more software. Hardware MUST support this otherwise they will be useless because of blurred... The 7520 has no support for transparency.

  • Blades & negative scan

I have 10 windows and a good Canon Pixma MG8120 printer/scanner/copier that I used with PSE

to scan some old slides of 35mm of my family and 135, 126 & 110 negative film strips.

But now I am at a loss: PSE 13 & 14 does not support the TWAIN interface, how do I

Scan the rest of my negatives and slides in PSE 14?

Is there an alternative to the dumb WIA interface? I can't believe there isn't.

Or... could I use 12 PES and TWAIN drivers to scan negatives in then

    Change them in PSE 14?

    Surely, someone knows a way?

    Thank you

If you still have available PSEv.12 and he has worked with your equipment, continue to scan slides and movies as in the past. Save the scans in a folder. Then, open them in the PSEv.14 Editor to edit and save to a separate destination folder.

If you are using the Organizer, you can put them the destination folder.

  • All of the other scanned pages is negative

I just upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. After the upgrade, all other pages of documents I scan in Acrobat is negative (i.e., white on black instead of black on white). If I check the box to scan negatives, it's the same thing, but then even pages are negative rather than the odd-numbered pages. A way to solve this problem?

Please try the solutions mentioned in this KB doc. https://helpx.Adobe.com/Acrobat/KB/troubleshoot-scanner-issues-Acrobat.html

  • 35mm negative scanning?

Hello.  I recently bought a Canon Printer/Scanner opportunity hoping to digitize my 35mm negatives and work with them in Lightroom.  I imported after scanning at 300 dpi (high resolution that I can scan with), but the files are too small in LR.  I am unable to get them to a regular size photo.

In addition, the scanned negatives are a bit dark.  Also, should I put a white screen on top of the negative during the scan?  I'll do some research in the meantime.  THX.

Yes, it's good enough for the digitization of printed things. But as you noted, scanning of negatives does not produce an image large enough to do much with. The DPI setting really has nothing to do with the quality as much as it affects the size of the final image. If you can find a way to scan your negatives 2400 dpi, you will find that your images will be quite large so that you can work with them. The image itself will not be 300 dpi. The image will simply be the pixel dimensions. And the definition of the DPI is what affects the size of the image will be in pixels.

After looking at the description for your printer/scanner, I don't think he has the ability to scan negatives. I now understand what you thought putting a sheet of paper on the negative. But that's not really going to help. If you want to scan negatives and slides, you need to do a scanner that is designed to do. This normally involves having things built into the lid of the scanner. I could be wrong, but I do not.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you want to scan negatives and possibly slide, it would be necessary for you to have a scanner that has the built-in capability. A typical scanner you have does not have this capability.

  • Negative scanner

Hello. So I got a negative regulatory model grlyb-0311 scanner still in packaging materials. Problem is that I do not know what it plugs on and can't find any imformation on it lol. Help, please. Thank you

    Hello Steeleblades,

Did some research on this and it looks like the item you've got must be used in conjunction with a normal scanner. According the description, I found article you have is an adapter known as transparent environments and to be so just provides a backlight so that a scanner can scan negatives and slides.

These are the models that that support your article, I found:

    ScanJet 4600, 4670, 4600p, 4670v and 4670vp

When you doubt this answer p [lease made a picture of the item that I can compare it with the info that I found you.
