Scanning/3115cn

Can someone explain why a destination of SMB work scanning would stop working? I had 6 installation of workstations SMB in the addressbook, 1 day week last 3 of them stopped working with error 016-782. The other 3 are still functioning.  The printer has a stand alone IP, everything here is DHCP, but none of the IPS have actually changed.  Username and password are used which each workstation using its own specific connection, but none have changed. file sharing and permissions should not change. The destination folder is in the share name and the path of the server is empty. These are all Windows XP workstations who have sharing and security for the individual scanner shared configuration folder using the connection from the specific workstation. As I said, everything worked perfectly on these machines for months, then suddenly stopped working.

I've also never successfully implement a machine win7 as a destination because of the error 016-781. There's the GOOD troubleshooting advice for any where because I have yet to find.  Everything I've read and tried has not worked.

This can solve the problem of Windows 7 016-782, login/password error.   If, for anyone else, I write this to me because I thought of it 6 months ago, changed my system and could not use the scanner for 4 months... SO I want an account here.  And we all know that Dell is not useful.  This is a WIRED solution, but if you have the Multiprotocol card, I bet this fixes wireless too, I have, but was glitchy sometimes so I prefer the printer connected to a router or network server or another, that the computer/s are also plugged into.

1 / do not install ANY software.   Get your operating system.  If you have files rest of 3115cn, call me paranoid, but I would like to format the drive and reinstall windows 7.  If you don't want, continue even after uninstalling all trace of 3115cn out of add/remove programs.

2 / make sure you 3115cn is ready to go.  Plug it into your computer via USB.  Windows should detect and install the drivers, he likes for all aspects (well, I do not use the fax, fax email is the only way to go).  Each of them should get the green check mark.   New Windows - let do, don't download drivers of garbage out of THIS site, nor try to mess with original with the installation files to disk, etc., if you have windows 7, you could probably take this manual 2 "at this point lol.

3 / so, the printer should work now and it should work fast-lots of dell-branded drivers there operate as a 90 s scan, 30 seconds per copy-no thank you for b/w.  Lightning fast with the windows driver...

So now on the scanner, but the steps 1 to 3 are important IMO.

4 / together until your share folder just in the main drive of your user account.  Then C:\User\YOU\Scans or whatever you want to name, should not be "Scans". Sharing, make sure that you select your name or the name of login computer and make sure that it says "read" and "read/write" as permissions.

You now have your destination folder for the scans (PDF documents or whatever you set).

5 / go to control panel of the printer.  Admin, go into the tcp/ip and assign it an IP address... so let's say, your network is lynksys, then you must assign an IP address of 192.168.2.X X =(2-256) thus, for example, mine is 192.168.2.9, and I chose as the intellectual property for the 3115cn.  This means that the gateway is 192.168.2.1.    Of course DNS 255.255.255.0.

6 / now, so shoot to the top of the Explorer, any will do.  type in 192.168.2.9, and it will open the settings of the dell printer.  If you have not changed, it's just "admin" without password.  Then go to the address book, server, click on the first or your existing one you want trouble.

7 / now you must fill this with precision.

Name: What you want to do a need not correspond to anything, so if you have many computers, maybe the workstation # or something or "Bob's computer" so it's easy on the Panel, etc.

SMB server, now you need the IP address of the computer that you configured the shared folder on.  It is easy to find.  Go to network, change the settings of the adapter on the left margin.  Find your wired LAN connection (essentially, this new should be same for wireless with obvious differences), right click, click on 'Status', then click on the button "Details".  Then search for "IPv4" and there is your IP address of the computer, the filling as well as in the previously mentioned browser page printer.

# 139 of course is server port.

Username is the login name of the person (Bob in the previous example), it doesn't have its own connection, it's stupid, but yes I tried it as well as my hair went gray.  So he logs on to your account.  For example, if you have a password, you must click the box and type it here.

Server path should essentially be empty if you have done the way I talked (that is to say you are just in the record of bob and among its subfolders of desktop, my documents, etc etc.)   is your "explorations" (or whatever you named it) shared folder.  If you did that, the path to the file is empty, can't say I have never had to put anything here.

8 / and finally... Here is the part gives the 782 error according to me!   (just when you thought there wasn't anything had not tried)

Return to network settings, if it is still in place, simply press the arrow to the left of the browser explore and then click (left margin) "avancΘs sharing.

This is of course assuming you have defined a network here-Windows 7 intimidates you a little inside, it's either 'home' or 'work', but it took you inside at this stage and there are a lot of points-setting options, each with 2 choices.   They should ALL be the high point of the page except one - and this is the Rascal that caused the windows 7 fiasco.  Who says "password protected sharing" must be turned off.  Save the settings down.

Now it should finally stop whining and immediately work, no more error 'connection '.

If you do not need the password, I still bet that the error has something to do with this screen, IE the settings in the advanced network share box.

Hope that helps someone out there, this story made me crazy, now it works fine.  No thanks to dell.

So we have a 3115cn configured to analyze 10 different computers via SMB. Scanning features has been uneven at best (because of certain parameters mainly) before I completely deleted the address book and started on. I put all using port 139 and the username password / activated, etc. set up to scan to a shared folder called "SCAN" directly to the root of the hard drive. This worked great for a month or two. The only complaint was a user occasionally (like every two weeks) got an SMB error (I've never seen the code or I would include it), asking him to turn off its network card and turn it back on and it would be solved. This morning, to try to resolve this nuisance, I changed a few settings and viola! the error changed. I stopped to make a mistake SMB/FTP and login error 016-782. I have recently, in an effort to organization, changed all the computer names and IP addresses of these computers, so I was afraid that I had broken the scan for all ten machines feature (even if I changed the IP on the scanner address book addresses; believe me, I double and triple checked these, they are correct). I've tested everybody, and 3 out of 10 are coming with the error 016-782, so it's really unlikely that it's because of my changes to IP/ComputerName.

I noticed on one of the 3 computers shared settings common "SCAN" of the case had changed, so I changed them back, and I found once more a massive success in the shape to change the error message. Now, always get a connection error, the error read: 016-783. User names, passwords, and IPs are all correct on 3 computers that cannot scan, and all the settings are exactly the same as the other 7 machines. I tried to disable the antivirus without success, and, similarly, all 10 computers use the same antivirus with the exact same parameters. At this point, I see absolutely no reason for these 3 should be impossible to scan when the other 7 work very well. All of the suggestions that I have not already tried? I also tried deleting entries in the directory 3 individual addresses and recreate them from scratch.

OK, probably should not have taken the trouble this announcement on these forums, because I already managed to fix it myself. For anyone with a similar problem, I was able to solve the problem by removing the 'SCAN' folder on the computers in question, it recreates with the same exact parameters, and it works now. Judging by the wealth of messages on the 3115cn network scanning problems, it seems that it is just a machine glitchy requiring sometimes absurd solutions...

  • Unable to Scan to the computer after downloading macOS Sierra. Is this a software problem?

How can I scan from HP Envy 4500 to computer after downloading macOS Sierra?

    Hello wdemetris,

Thanks for asking for scanning helps here in the Apple Support communities. I understand how it is important to have access to your scanner and am happy to offer help for this.

As a precaution, we always recommend that you have backups to make sure that all your data is safe. You can perform a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Use this article to help make a backup of your Mac: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

Then, in accordance with article help: printer and scanner for Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and the Mavericks macOS software, the HP Envy 4500 e-all-in-one is supported for printing and scanning. The drivers must be installed, but if not, if it please go to the App Store and check the updates tab to see if there are updates for HP. If there is, please install.

If you have only general questions about how to get your updated scanner in place or how to scan pictures, please check out these two articles: macOS Sierra: implement a scanner & macOS Sierra: scan images or documents. If everything is configured correctly and you still have problems scanning, please visit this help article: macOS Sierra: scanning troubleshooting.

  • Scanning PC settings appears every day

Whenever I have begin to macOS, I get a window of "Scan-from-PC. It does list some scanners and does not include the option Add / Remove. There is a "Scan of operating Panel settings" button which takes me for a nearly identical and all as useless screen. And there is a? Help button that signals "the subject is currently unavailable.

Any suggestions on how I can do this, go far? Granted it's only a click, but it's a nuisance that I get to enjoy every day.

    Thank you.

Uninstall the scanner software - it doesn't seem to be compatible with macOS Sierra.

You can also check the preferences > users and groups > [you] > login items and remove (with the minus sign) any scanner related Articles.

  • Not able to scan with the preview after upgrade from Mac OS Sierra...

After upgrading to Mac OS Sierra. I'm unable to use the preview to scan.  Before this upgrade, it worked fine.  The HP scanner software does NOT work something like OS 10.8 or 10.9.  Preview worked perfectly so far.  If anyone knows how to solve this problem, your contribution will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Have you tried scanning with Capture of Image instead? It worked for me.

  • Impossible to scan on Canon MB2350

I occasionally scan using the Scan 2 IJ of Canon utility software.

I just tried to analyse a contract and that's all that I can get this message:

It worked fine the week last under OSX.

I have a network wired ethernet LAN connection.

    The printer can print OK.

    Any ideas please?

    Kind regards

I contacted Canon, they have yet to get their act together (my words) and, at this late stage, realized that some of their software, drivers, etc., is incompatible with the Sierra.

Their recommendation does not upgrade to Sierra if you want their kit to work.

    No time estimated for fix.

Either by the way, Nikon have now identified a problem.

Maybe Apple should have an Upgrade Advisor as Microsoft do...

    Thanks for reading this.

  • Canon MG7100 prints but will not scan after update of the iMac? How to fix?

Canon MG7100 worked very well with the iMac - scanning and printing. After doing the updates of the iMac and installation Siri scanning does not work. Always printing. The printer/scanner Canon said - Set PC to start scanning - I have MG7100 added on the iMac. I opened (and re-locked) firewall to let in the Canon UJ utility. I deleted the all-in-one Hi - and added MG7100.

doesn't look like canon has a printer that takes in charge the newer versions of Mac OS x, if I were you I would take contact them to see if they plan on support of new versions, apple made no drivers for the hardware they don't and if hardware manufacturers does not provide a working driver head can group with the new version of Mac OS x We have to rely on manufacturing to have a download on their page

  • Giant PDF scans from Sierra update

I like to use the 'digital images' app to scan documents and save them directly as a PDF. Ever since I updated my system to Mac OS Sierra pdf files created when scanning are about three times the size they were before and I can't find a place to change the setting for that. I don't want to use a different software since it worked perfectly fine before the update. Any ideas?

Same question. I have been in contact with Apple Support who had no idea about this, and it should report a bug. Most of the reports are more likely to get noticed: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • New feature of memories do not scan all the photos

I've updated to Sierra and was really looking forward to memories in pictures. I turned it on and it said that it would take some time to analyze my library. I thought that. I have a library of 60 GB. However, the bar has not moved for several days. So I left and reopened the photos. He then invited me again to activate the memories. After only a few times to quit smoking pictures and allowing the memories, it seemed to take. A couple of souvenirs presented themselves (3).

However, now its more than a week later and there are no more. I can't understand how to trigger memories to analyze my photos.

Does anyone know how to force the re-scan for souvenir Photos? Or has had a similar experience? Found a solution?

    Thank you

I can't understand how to trigger memories to analyze my photos.

Memories will be triggered by adding more pictures, naming faces, names of places and in some time.

I often see new memories appear as "on this day". For example, if the date is the same day of AAS, when I was on vacation and shot a lot of photos, a memory 'on this day' will appear.

You have the preference ' Photos > Preferences > memories: holiday events Show "enabled?  Then you should see a lot of memories of family get-togethers as well.

    Hello everyone,

I had upgraded my Macbook Pro (early 2011) to Mac OS Sierra. A famous feature of older versions of Mac OS is to use Preview to scan documents to PDF format, joined the pages scanned all of a single document.

After upgrading to Sierra this feature does not work correctly. The pages are not more combined into a single PDF. Anyone who has observed the same problem?

    Best regards from the Germany

  • HP OfficeJet Pro scan is no longer with Sierra

I am running OS X Sierra on 2012 MBA with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer / scanner.

I noticed that after the upgrade to Sierra that the scan function no longer works... I tried to uninstall / reinstall the device, but the problem continues... I have checked the Apple Web site and notice that the HP OfficeJet 8600 is listed as a compatible scanner.

I note also that the 8600 OfficeJet is connected as a printer via WiFi network and worked perfectly with the captain.

1 has anyone else experienced this problem?

    2. What if anyone has found a solution / workaround?

    TIA,

    Joel

responsibility to provide drivers to work for an update of the OS is with the developer of this device, not Apple. visit the page of the developer for your make and model camera and see if they offer drivers, otherwise contact the developers. Apple will sometimes provide printer drivers, but if a device is a legacy printer the developer may choose to retire it from use.

  • Using the function of scan macOS Sierra HP Officejet 7300 series network printer does not work; He had no problem with El Capitan...

Printer HP Officejet 7300 network series that allows to work flawlessly with El Capitan does not work after the upgrade to Sierra.

With macOS Sierra, when used as a network print service printer works fine however scan does not work. Programs like the Image Capture, HP Easy Scan etc does not see the printer. However, if the printer is directly connected to the Macbook Pro using the usb cable, a new printer is added to the list of printers (it shows print and scan functions while the printer network in the list shows only printing function) and the scanner works well with Image Capture, etc. If the usb cable is removed disconnects this printer in the list and there is no way to turn it on. I have the latest update for the printer installed from the App store. It looks like a driver issue, but I wonder if there is a work around for this problem...

Open Preview.app. Under file in the menu bar, you see import of 'name of your scanner?
