Library of photos never scans

Whenever I open the pictures on a Mac OS or IOS 10 starts the scanning process, but nothing happens even after many hours.

Please explain

You say you have El Captain - what analysis do you expect? 10 IOS it is for some functions, connect to Photos for Mac is a totally different system - better to ask questions of IOS in the IOD 10 forum or the forum iPhone or iPad

  • Previous import to new library of Photos

    Good evening everyone,

I've had my Macbook Pro 4 years now and I never formatted, so when the pictures came out he asked me to import iPhotos library of Photos and there is no problem at all. Recently, given that my hard drive was close to death, I manually supported both iPhoto and photo library, just to make sure I had everything. Then I went and installed El Capitan on my new SSD, I put in my macbook.

Now I am facing this problem: Photos already and automatically imported some photos from my photo streaming from my iPhone. Now I would like to import the library I had on my previous operating system with my old photos. Is this possible? How can I do? Can I import the photo library, or even the iPhoto library? I hope that wasn't confusing.

    I ask because I don't want you bumble, that's why I'm here.

    Thank you very much

  • Relink 'Library of Photos' to iCloud photo library

This question relates to a clean install of Mac OS Sierra

I have my library of Photos in pictures file, and there all my uploaded images. When I format my computer, how can I create a link to this file with iCloud photo library, so I don't have to download anything new?

I still did not understand the exact procedure for this and want to avoid download it all again as I have in the past. There must be a way to link to the top, since I downloaded them all already.

    You can not

If you restore a library or repair one that it triggers a total upload to make sure that everything is in harmony, there is no way to avoid that - you just start a new library and let ICPL fill the iCloud - he loses people and all

  • How to copy an iPhoto Library AND photos

With the help of iPhoto Library Manager I made a copy of my iPhoto library to a new external drive, but I noticed that when I opened the library copied, the photos it contains are always referenced to the original photos, no copies on the new drive, as I had hoped.

If as expected, how a copy an iPhoto Library AND photos referenced to a new location, on an external drive, as is any independent on the new drive?

    Thank you

    Geoff

    Simple:

Go to your pictures folder and find the iPhoto library here. Drag it to the external hard drive. It will make an exact copy it

    Fact.

Warnings: the player must be directly connected (USB, lightning etc.) and Mac OS extended (journaled) format

Are you running a Managed or referenced library?

A managed, library is the default setting, and iPhoto copies the files in the iPhoto library during import. The files are then stored in the library package

A referenced library is where iPhoto does NOT copy the files in the iPhoto Library when importing because you have made a change to iPhoto-> preferences-> advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files in the library to import) The files are then stored wherever you put them and not in the library package. In this scenario, you are responsible for the management of files.

If you have a library that is referenced, then it is much more complicated.

Hello I need to know how to copy events in a photo library on an external drive.

    I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

    Thanks for the help

as the pictures has no events which is not possible - and you cannot copy to a library of photos to another library - you can export to a library and import in another library or you can use PowerPhotos to move photos between libraries

What exactly do you have and exactly what you want to accomplish?

  • Delete the contents of the 'library of Photos' on the Mac won't do photos in iCloud?

Delete the contents of the 'library of Photos' on the Mac won't do photos in iCloud? My pictures stopped downloading to iCloud because my Mac ran out of storage. 'Library of photos' on the Mac takes all of the storage. I'm pass photos to an external hard drive to the Mac App Photos then upload to iCloud.

Delete the contents of the library of Photo on your Mac will also remove the contents of the Photo library in iCloud, because they are the same thing

  • Which photos stay permanently in my library of Photos on my Mac, not only in the photo stream?

I just upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.6 and now tries to use the new Photos app, version 1.5. I have not activated icloud photo library on the computer or the iPhone or iPad and do not want. I would like to know what pictures, cases, will actually stay in the library of Photos on the hard drive of my computer and only be in photo stream and how to make sure than I think I am importing actually stayed there.  I took some pictures with my camera and imported using an SD card, so I guess they will stay there. I also a few iPhoto events that have been converted into pictures when I first opened my latest iPhoto photo library, so I guess they will stay there. But when I receive an email with a picture and try to save it in the mail for the pictures, it seems that in my photos and not constantly flow in the Photos. Same thing happens when I drag a photo in the Photos of the office - it doesn't seem to be there permanently, in the photo stream. I really miss the Camera Roll function that I have on my iPhone and iPad running OS 9.3.2. Anything in my film I know is permanently on the device. I fear that eventually some of the pictures I think that are permanently in the pictures library on the Mac will disappear just when my Photostream deletes. The only way I seem to be able to tell which photos are really, that he must pretend to remove one in the folder "Photos" at the top of the list in the sidebar (the one that displays the photos in Moments, etc.) and then a window pops up asking you if I want to delete the photo or if I want to delete the picture from my photo stream. To summarize, my questions are once again: How can I know which photos will stay permanently in my library of Photos on my Mac and not just be in the photo stream? And how do I get the photos that I drag or that you import pictures to remain permanently in the library of Photos on my Mac? Thanks for any help you can give.

But when I receive an email with a picture and try to save it in the mail for the pictures, it seems that in my photos and not constantly flow in the Photos.

How you save for the email to Photos?

If you ctrl - click the attachment of email and use "of exporting Photos", the photo will be imported to the Photos.

Saving Photos from other applications is a little annoying, because the pictures do not appear in the album "last import. But you will see them in moments.  Only, you nned to scroll the way back, if the date of the photo capture is old. The photos will appear in the moment for the correct capture date.  If you see the pictures in my workflow so hoto, select them, ctrl-click and use ' Show in time.

. I really miss the Camera Roll function that I have on my iPhone and iPad running OS 9.3.2. Anything in my film I know is permanently on the device.

On Photos for Mac was added permanently to your library of Photos that you see in Photos with time display, Collections, the years.

And how do I get the photos that I drag or that you import pictures to remain permanently in the library of Photos on my Mac? Thanks for any help you can give.

The pictures that you have imported this way must have been added to your photo library, or you would not see them in my photo stream.  The photo stream shows all the photos that you have recently added to the library, to transfer them to other devices.

You will find all the photos in your photo stream in Moments?  If this is not the case, there is a corruption in your library of Photos, then post back.

  • How to manage a large library of Photos with iCloud

I have an iMac with a 1 TB drive. El Capitan.

I have a library of Photos that is 450 GB.

I use NOT currently in iCloud photo library.

Library to backup to external hard drive.

I would switch to 500 GB SSD drive, so I need to cut the pictures library to adapt.

I tried to read as much information, but I'm still not clear on some points.

Hard to test on the great library.

Traverse and the cleaning of a large library of Photo are your time, I'm looking for less than hands on options.

    My thought:

    1. upgrade to iCloud 1 TB storage Plan

    2. turn on iCloud photo library (original leave) and wait a few days/weeks/months to the great library to synchronize with iCloud.

    3. turn on iCloud photo library (optimized) on iPhone and iPad to synchronize all libraries and get all the originals to iCloud and then the iMac

Q1. How much space will be a large library as it takes on an iOS device. I'm afraid that even an optimized library will fill 64 GB device.

(I know that's dependent on media, but just looking for a guideline for iOS, I think OS X is 9to1)

    4. once everything is synchronized, copy the photo library in DHM (properly formatted) as a backup.

    5. start the on EHD photo library to ensure the proper functioning.

    6. allow photo library on iMac as the synchronized library. Don't want to keep always connected DHM.

7 change library Photos optimized on the computer and let the full synchronization.

This should give me a library optimized on the iMac and a complete library on the EHD.

However, since the EHD are not the Central Library for iCloud synchronization, it will remain not being updated.

Q2. Can I create another user account on the iMac with my iCloud settings and using EHD originals full as the main library?

That would allow me to periodically plug JEP, throw the other user account and let pictures synchronize updates and get new originals.

This would be mainly used as a backup plan, so I rely not only on iCloud himself.

Is this a reasonable plan or I'm far from base.

    Kind regards

(I know that's dependent on media, but just looking for a guideline for iOS, I think OS X is 9to1)

My library has only about 200 GB on the Mac, with 40000 photos, but it's horrible on the iPad in an optimized version. Size is fine, he has been reduced to about 10% of its original size, but work with Photos is a pain, if each photo is just a fuzzy image and needs icloud download to view properly. Sometimes it takes a minute or more to recover the photo, so it is impossible to browse photos or making a slide show.  On the iPad, I returned to sync with iTunes, the albums selected. On the iPhone, it's not so bad, because the screen is smaller, and blurring is tolerable.

Q2. Can I create another user account on the iMac with my iCloud settings and using EHD originals full as the main library?

You can do it from your normal user account. Alternate between libraries and to the iCloud photo library on the external drive.

It will be easier than permission risk issues when you access a library of two different user accounts.

If you want to reduce the size of the internal Player library quickly, remove the library on internally, after that you are sure that the copy on the external hard drive is working properly.  Create a new library on the internal disk and make your iCloud Photo Library., optimized. The library will download in an optimized way and be much smaller to begin with.

  • Duplication of my library of photos from my wife (once, not persistent) phone

My wife and I have separate MacBooks and iPhones, with the iCloud separate accounts (and want like that). I know there is no current way to actually "share" our libraries of Photos in a transparent way (grrr), so what I plan to do is to migrate a duplicate of my existing photo library (who currently with all of its photos and mine) on his machine, and then we'll take everything not turn import our photos via USB for some and other computers 'share' to proceed.

My question is: if I make a copy of the file "Library.photoslibrary Photos" on my MacBook and place it in the folder ~/Pictures on my wife's cell phone, will be his machine to use it properly and start using it as the basis for his own (separate) iCloud photo library? I use iCloud photo sharing with my library of photos (with my iCloud account), but my machine is set to 'Download the originals of this Mac' so I don't think I would transfer all files of complete sizes. I realize, this is a snapshot in time, and once the two libraries are set up on their own accounts of iCloud photo library, they will be Islands separated by itself.

I know in the past I could just copy to his machine and go, but wasn't sure if the Photos Library.photoslibrary files now somehow contains the link to my account iCloud or something and would not properly be 'work' when adding to his machine. My hope is that when I first copy the file Library.photoslibrary of Photos to his machine, it will only have a local copy of the photos and then when I turn on iCloud photo library on your computer, the photos will begin downloading to her iCloud.

    This will work as expected?

Yes it will work as expected with this comments

You must set the library you transfer only the system library in his Photos preferencs

and it will not replace iCloud pHoto Library - it will merge in it (elimination of duplicates in the process)

At the opening of the library of photos, each photo turn the black thumbnail and so that to open it.  Preview also does not have photos properly.  I tried to repair the library and this did not help.  Could this be a problem with the RAM? Help, please!

Check, if pictures can access the original files of your pictures, or if the originals are missing.

You can test to try to edit a photo or trying to export it with "file > export > export original file..."

Photos can be edited or exported?

Shooting Raw or JPEG?  Where your photo library is stored? On an external disk or in your pictures folder?

  • How can I transfer the ownership of the library of photo shared to another user?

I work in a school and create a library of shared photos to easily collect and safely store the picture throughout the school. My experience was a success and the school would like to take formally. Is it possible to transfer the property of the library of photo to another user?

What type of photo library is it?

    iPhoto? Photos?

I don't know it is really a matter of property, or are you talking about just technically?

  • Moved from my library of Photos to iCloud by car and now the pictures will not open it...

I thought being smart and transfer my library of Photos to iCloud by car so I can access all my devices, but now the pictures won't open it. I hold down the Option key when starting the Photos and told to open the library moved in my world of iCloud drive. He complains about the library in an incompatible format (or something similar). If I move just back off iCloud drive to any where in my regular Finder file system then pictures is perfectly fine opening of the library. What the heck! Anyone know what is happening or that seemingly obvious thing does not work why?

Yes... I think the library should be 'local' to your Mac. It can live on a USB key and maybe even a network drive, but I do not expect any level of performance with her on the cloud. If you think you can avoid to keep your phone synchronized with iCloud and still have access to all of your library, it won't work.

Apple don't tell you not to do it, but they said this without mentioning iCloud drive...

  • If I exported my photos when I import them into another library of Photos, will they still be live photos?

I plan to export my entire library of Photos on a hard drive, that I will then use import my library to another library of Photos on another computer (with the latest updates). When I export my photos (choosing File > export > export Photos X...), they will still be "live pictures" that is when I import them will be powered?

For sure if you simply move a copy of the entire library to the new system, you will have all - export and import loses a lot of information and can lose quality if you're wrong - interconnect systems and drag the library photos of the current system to the new system images folder - or use an external hard drive to the Mac OS extended (journaled) format to move in all

  • How to recharge my hard drive with photos that are stored in iCloud.  After installing a new hard drive, there's no pictures found in the Photos, and I get this error "cannot find system Photo library named"Library.photoslibrary Photos".

How to recharge my hard drive with photos that are stored in iCloud?  After installing a new hard drive, there's no pictures found in the Photos, and I get this error, "could not find the picture of system library named"Library.photoslibrary Photos".

Soon as your App Photos or iPhoto lost track of your photo library, or there has not been migrated from your old drive. You can create an empty library and probably enable iCloud photo library for photos to upload to the cloud.
