Hi André

Please can you set "métro Style" and tell us how to recognize a "métro Style" app as such.

Thank you very much

Metro or modern style applications are those that you launch from Windows 8 start screen.

Modern applications on the home screen in the background image, the desktop appears in the foreground.

I have a new HP laptop less than an hour old.  All the games I bought Iwin opens only at a screen size of a quarter of the screen.  It's annoying and frustrating.  I find no solution in my many google searches.  What to do to make games to play on the full screen?

    Hello hoff88,

I could not well iWin games listed on the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to see if they are compatible. You may need to check with the manufacturer of iWin to see if they are compatible Windows 7.

You can also try using compatibility mode.

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If compatibility is not successful, then try and run the program compatibility problems:

    1. open the troubleshooting program compatibility Troubleshooter by clicking the Start button.

Then click on Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click Troubleshooting. Under programs, click on run programs for previous versions of Windows.

    2. follow the instructions in the troubleshooting.

If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the Troubleshoot utility, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. This utility is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or other VMware Player (www.vmware.com) and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can also do a search on the internet and find free 3 third-party virtualization programs that could work as well.

    I hope this helps.

  • Screen size IE: why everything is oversized?

Screen size IE: why everything is oversized? I've been internet crusing, then when I closed the last window, I noticed that the screen looked oversized. So I open IE back upward and Yes. All pages that fail the screen (such as MS-answers) look like they are under a microscope.

For example my homepage is 6 or 8 times extended and this q / a page seems normal. So I guess it's in the wrendering via a CSS or something. I triied view/textsize setting and some tool-option but nothing seems to work. I even reinstalled IE8.

How can I fix my default view sizing and get rid of this magnification?

OK, cancel that. I found that my magnification view has been set at 400%.
I had click-happy and touched the menu by mistake, or a web page put it to me (if possible).

Anyway, the magnification is healed. I didn't even know we had such a thing before this event.

    Change the screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.

At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.

For example, 640 × 480 is a lower screen resolution, and 1600 × 1200 is higher. CRT monitors generally display a resolution of 800 × 600 or 1024 × 768. LCD monitors can better support the higher resolutions. If you can increase your screen resolution depends on the size and capability of your monitor and the type of video card you have.

Text is larger and easier to read at low screen resolutions, but images are rasterized and number of items adapted to the screen

    • When you change the screen resolution, it affects all users who log on the computer.

  • Is there a way to increase the text size in Windows 8 applications?

Is there a way to increase the text size in Windows 8 applications?

I find the way to text size too small in most news reader applications.  Looks like you should be able to increase or decrease the text size the same thing you do in a browser using CTRL + or CTRL-, or your mouse wheel.

You can increase the size of the text on the desktop, but it doesn't have any effect on the subway, or whatever you call it today.

Probably, there should be a setting to increase the size of the text under settings of PC!

IMO, I would probably find a lot of people out there wouldn't buy a W8 Tablet since the text is to small to read!  This has fixed as soon as POSSIBLE!

Edit: I noticed that a lot of Apps is updated to help with this problem.  Unfortunately not on the main screen of App, if you select an item to read the improvement will become visible or selectable.

    Hello

On the start screen simply type the word "police" and select the filter settings on the right.  You should see an option 'Make text and other items more or less '.  Click on that and adjust the text or at the desired size.

    -Curt

These instructions don't change the DPI of the screen ratio when it is in the classic user of Windows interface. The new interface Windows username however does not change when this setting is changed (which, in itself, is rather unfortunate).

The only way to change the font size of Windows apps Store is as follows:

    1. click on the Start button to get the new user of Windows interface

2 start typing 'police' (without the quotes)

    3. click on "settings".

    4. click on "enlarge everything on your screen; This opens the settings of PC (which is different from the classic Configuration screen)

    5. set "Enlarge everything on your screen" on it.

Personally, I still find it too small for a lot of apps, but it's a small improvement on the default settings.

    Sign of salvation,

Welcome to the Microsoft community forum. From the description of the problem, it seems that you want to change the font size for the user interface modern app.

You can change the modern user interface text size by going to the charms > settings > change the settings of the PC > PC and peripherals > display

    Also see this Microsoft article:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/make-text-screen-larger-smaller/?v=t

Windows 8.1, you can now set the DPI (Dots per Inch) scale to make text and other items, such as icons, fonts and windows, to more or less important for all display or by display screens.

Windows 8.1 DPI scale improvements are mainly focused on:

    • Optimization of ergonomics and the readability of displays high-resolution
    • Offering an experience uniform multi-screen systems
    • Give developers optimize app specific scale based on display DPI

If you are using a resolution of 1366 x 768 display on a shelf, chances are that UI will look good 100% ppp settings. But what about when you connect the tablet to an external high resolution? In Windows 8, you can choose either 100% in order to optimize the user interface on the screen of the tablet or display up to 150% in order to optimize the user interface on the outside. You have to make compromises.

8.1 Windows takes care of this issue pressing address scaling of IPR by display . By default, Windows 8.1 will choose the optimal DPI scaling value for each display based on the value selected for the global scaling in the control panel.

Quite often a facility 'Edit' and or 'Repair' of VMware Tools will not fix the problem even if one might think of these names should be, it is always best to completely uninstall/reinstall VMware Tools when related problems of VMware Tools.  Then, go to add/remove programs in Control Panel in Windows guest operating system and uninstall VMware Tools and then after that it restarts to install VMware Tools in the Virtual Machine menu.  If this is not set then uninstall/reinstall VMware Fusion and note that this does not remove the virtual machines if.
