scripts for Update Manager in vSphere4

Hello:

I'm trying to use scripts that I have used successfully in VI3 in my environment vSphere 4, but have trouble...

I would be able to the make or VMware changed something?

Should the cmdlet 'Get-Baseline' still work?

I get the term 'get-baseline' is not recognized as a cmdlet.

Thank you

Don't we no VUM PowerCLI cmdlets more.

  • Where to download packages update for Update Manager?

    My configuration VI is on an isolated network (IE, no internet connection).

    Update Manager is installed on the same computer that the my RESUME.

    Only the host esx patches are needed.

    I understand that the solution recommended is to:

    1. install the download Service for the Manager to update on a computer with internet connection

    2 download required patches

    3. export the patches

    4. transfer the patches (using the portable storage)

    5 import the patches to the Update Manager

    6 proceed now with ESX patching.

    I wonder if there is anywhere on the net where I can just download the hotfix package and skip step 1-4.

    Thanks in advance for any advice. =)

    No, there is no location. Patches are located on the patchstore of VMware. There are installation files, as well as the metadata files that must be downloaded from the patchstore. In your case, you must use UMD. It is easy to install and use.

  • Connection for Update Manager

    I Manager plugin update installed in my VIC on my computer and lately, from time to time a message appears saying that it is reconnected to Update Manager, then the reconnection fails and I get an error message saying my session with Update Manager is no longer valid and disables the plugin. My current solution will close VIC and reconnect, then re - activate the plugin. And it will work fine. Then some time later to repeat the process.

    Any ideas?

  • Script for updating a field for the current year

    Is it possible to have an update of field at the end of the current year? Example 20-(dashes to change it for any year). I think that it is not possible, but if anyone knows how this is possible I'd really appreciate help. Thank you

    Sorry, I guess I need to change throughout the year, not only at the end.  Thank you

    I tried a few scripts that I found here, such as; year (dateAdd ("yyyy", 1, now()))) with no luck. I confess that I don't know about scripts and can be a bad thing. The script goes on the Action tab as a javascript or somewhere else (validation?) Any advice or assistance would be appreciated. I use Acrobt Pro version 9.

    Going by your post you wanted the year is displayed in a text field, I gave the code to go into the script will count for this field. If you want to use it somewhere else (e.g. a mouseup), then use the variable 'year' in this script. In a calculation script, any value you assign to "event.value" is what will show on the field during the calculation.

  • VMware Vsphere 5.5 Web Client - lack of scene and sanitation funtion in Update Manager Extenstion

    It is so annoying web customer switching for years return full functionality to customer normal for Update Manager

    Hi Calvinso,

    I understand what you're talking about. You will have to do with it until the next version. It is the transition phase where they try to switch completely to the web based management clients and a lot and they do step by step. I'm sure that in the next version, they will have a mature web client with fully integrated update manager.

  • Update Manager 4.1 compatibility with VSphere 5

    I have not seen a version 5 for Update Manager, but the documentation for 4.1 says it works with VSphere at the same level (e.g. 4.1 works with VSphere 4).  4.1 Update Manager work with VSphere 5?  Thanks in advance.

    You can find Update Manager 5.0 in vCenter Server 5.0 installation package. Update Manager 4.1 can't handle the newer hosts.

  • vCenter Update Manager 4.1

    I'm sorry for the silly question, but I'm at my wits end, trying to find the installer for Update Manager 4.1

    I am running 4.0 ESXi and vSphere 4.0 and I'm trying to update the hosts to ESXi 4.1 using the Update Manager, but it seems that I can't do it until I update the server vCenter Update Manager 4.1. I believe that I have improved vCenter successfully, but I understand that I will not be able to actually run the 4.1 client until I have a crowd of 4.1 running. :/

    Can someone please provide the link to download Update Manager 4.1 extension?

    Thank you

    VUM is provided with/in the media of vCenter.

  • Move another Update Manager server

    So I try to spend our Server Update Manager to its own server in our Virtual Center (vCenter?) server. With hindsight this may not be the best approach, but here's what happened.

    I will stop the service and uninstalled the update of the dedicated server VMUM Manager. I then did a clean installation of U3 Manager Update on our Virtual Center service, with a new database.

    So now, I try to get the Extension Manager update from VMware on the local VI Client is uninstalled, or pointing to the new server VMUM. I found no registry keys on the clients or the VC that point to the old Manager Update Server, but I do check the VC Pb.

    Now my client of VI, said the updated plugin Manager is installed, but when I try and turn it on, it expires either (the remote server was too long) or will appear to be activated without any options.

    Any help? Thank you.

    You missed a step somewhere, the Update Manager is VERY simple.  You will not find the registry keys, because it is a service, it responds to requests.  Then the plug-in responds service on VC, all information that responds to updates.  That's about all.

    Your new VC should be turned off.  You install Update Manager.  Then start the VC service, then the service update manager, and if you followed each line correctly and accurately (a bit like the issuance of instructions in the documentation) it will work.  This is a very simple and easy installation.  This is not really complicated, so if it doesn't work, you lack something, does not have something or gave a wrong info for Update Manager to register.

    If you start VC and update manager they give errors?  Did you reboot the VC AFTER the update server manager installed?

    IF all else fails call VM Ware.  But this process should be simple, there is no real major steps.  If all the services are running, it should work...

  • Use a script to update the MaxL substitution variables

    We use the Essbase 11.1.1 version. Can we use MaxL script for updating the substitution variables rather than using the EAS web console? We want to put the MaxL script in a batch file and plan its Windows scheduled task.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello-

    Yes. Here is an example of script maxl-

    connection "Hypadmin" "#" on myessbaseserver.
    spool to 'mymaxl.log ';

    / * Definition of the substitution variable * /.
    ALTER database appname.databasename set variable "CurMonth" "August";

    variable display;

    spool off;
    Disconnection;
    Exit;

    You can call this maxl from a batch file at the request of windows scheduled task.

    Whenever I log in I get the message update of Sonic Update Manager and enter a sonic cd which I do not have or want. It takes several sessions to hit Cancel to dismiss the message.  I deleted Panel but still message. Help.

    Do a search on computer for Sonic Update Manager.
    You can go to run, type MSconfig and see if Sonic Manager is in the list.
    If so, then uncheck the Sonic Update Manager and click ok.

    Then see if you still get the promopt.

    I get a pop-up window saying windows is looking for a sonic Update Manager file (said scan.msi) and can't find it - he is constantly back and forth w/Setup attempt and then returns to "Please install the scan disk file" which I DID not!  How can I get rid of this, and which upped in the 1st place?  Did not request a scan?  I am using iolo System Mechanic installed by Dell and do not know if something in this program attempts to run a scan, but it's very embarrassing to have these pop up screens constantly fight w/each other - I tried to cancel out of them, and they just continue to flow upward again and again.

  • Configure the 5.5 Update Manager to use a different version of MSXML for security reasons

    Versions:

    vCenter 5.5

    Update Manager 5.5

    5.5 ESXi

    Hello.  Looks like that the 5.5 Update Manager uses C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msxml4.dll which is marked as critical vulnerability.  We must deal with the most recent version.  The dll update no problem, but how do I get the Update Manager to look at the recently deployed MSXML dll?

    Thanks in advance for any info you can provide,

    Jamey

    VMware said it might be fixed in 5.5 U3 and MUV would use MSXML6. 5.5U3 is out today so I hope the solution is there.

    OK, so you have three newspapers:

    -rw - r - r - 1 root root 4894152 15 May 21:04 ql_ima_sdm.log

    -rw - r - r - 1 root root 5000089 15 May 06:44 ql_ima_sdm.log_old

    Which fill up all your space. Specifically, the ql_ima.log.

    To be honest, I'd be tempted to keep it as follows:

    MV/tmp tmp.old (Keep your files by changing the temp to tmp.old directory

    mkdir/tmp      (Creates a new directory/tmp)

    services.sh (reboot host services and check that it meets with a few new files)

    VDF h (Check that the directory/tmp is reported as low)

    Try your updates again!
