  Foglight followed a modular approach, if you want to monitor OS install you cartridge Infrastructure, if you want to monitor DB (Oracle), you install a cartridge DB (oracle). The cartridges are available from the support site.

• SmartView 'Calc All' corrupted script Essbase database

  I'm not sure that anyone has any experience of this incident before. We have end-users with the SmartView Excel of Hyperion Planning installed plugin. By default, there is an option of script that end users can click on the ' Calc all "to run.
  
  In one incident, the user pointed out such a script to run on backend Essbase database 'Calc All'. As the work batch is quite laborious, we stop the lot via the Regional service console. But after the batch is stopped, we found that any level 0 data source disappeared - total lost! We tried to find a way to recover but without success. Finally, we need restore the full backup.
  
  We checked with our Oracle consultant locally and they mentioned that, to stop a batch to the service console Regional is the right way to do it. It should not corrupt the database.
  
  In any case please avoid accidental command running that script you use SmartView and Essbase. You should not prevent the lot via the Regional service console.

  I don't know why an Essbase Calc default caused your data away, or why you couldn't stop him.

  The problem with the planners of planning is to have this Essbase calc access. Why? A mystery.

  An easy way to make sure a default Calc is not make havoc is to edit the Calc by default in the EAS do a right-click on the database by choosing together-> default Calc and removing the ALL CALC; It is here and in just a '; '. (without the quotes). This will validate yet but does nothing.

  ACS CLI interface, it is possible to remove ACS log files, but I think that it is not possible to alter or change the database monitoring & Reporting. Is this true?

  I don't see this as possible. As when you connect to the CLI of ACS you go just the stuff of ACS application and some newspapers. Database cannot be deleted or changed from there

  Hello gurus,
  I need to some simple tips, a good chance for some quick points for you.
  I've never built a database to understand any different other than the U.S. English character set. I now have to build a database that will be used for characters Spanish-keyboards, etc. But I will use English to install 11g software. I just want to be able to show the Spanish characters in the data for the names of clients.
  I will create the database with scripts that I did to make the standard model for data files, control files, etc..
  Then I import in a dump that I did and that was done with American English character sets.
  The system is 11g (11.2.0.3.0) on Linux Enterprise Server 5.8.
  I thought I'd use the AL32UTF8 character set, but I'm not sure where to use them.
  My original test showed no Spanish characters for names of customers as the "tilda" or "sueano" (excuse my spelling). But in this case I did the exceptional for Spanish, I used only the construction of standard American English (no change in the file init.ora or original database create script).
  
  How can I adjust my settings file for the initial creation of the database model to be able to understand the Spanish character set and still be able to import my dump error-free file.
  
  EXAMPLE of a build script:
  
  CREATE DATABASE mynewdb
  The USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY sys_password
  The USER IDENTIFIED BY system_password SYSTEM

  the national character sets is for the column as nvarchar types not for normal varchar data types. So if your dump file contains column types, you also need to set. The character set is for normal column as a varchar types. The use of unicode is best practice if you use the multiel language, but keep in mind that multibyte character set can be a problem when importing because varchar2 (10) means byte 10 and not 10 characters, so mistakes as an identifier for a long time may occur when importing.

  You can use a like WE8MSWIN1252 character set which covers the Spanish also (like many, I know) and a superset of us7ascii

  JDeveloper generates a "create script" a database offline or a real. But I do not see a generation of drop for this script. Is there a way to generate a? Or do we use the data dictionary and write something custom?

  1. can you give me a usage scenario of what you want to 'drop '? You want to create a drop statement for the table that you have set in your DB offline? Why? Or do you have another scenario?

  2 at present you cannot exclude the tablespace definitions of generation if they have been set - but we have an improvement in the workplace on for a future release

  You are able to 'turn off' the tablespace definitions in objects if that's what you want to do. Don't forget to delete the storage options (properties - storage options) index as well as the table's properties. Once I have it made, no info space of tables is generated when I create

  I found that the view SYS. DBA_LOCK is missing in my 11g and 10g databases because the catblock.sql script that create the view SYS. DBA_LOCK belongs to catalog.sql create the script of database in 12 c but not in 11g and 10g.

  Dear experts.
  
  To my knowledge, I provide a quantity of Oracle SGA memory and takes it, though even he does not use all.

  I'm afraid that there is no such mechanism. Oracle SGA, once his allotted, will be affected. There may be an exchange of memory among the automotive listening areas, but I'm not sure I remember something that would give memory for the o/s (this is where it would go if not used) otherwise being used by oracle.

• Bug in "DBSS" - not available on a database mirror? Or a real failure?

  Does anyone else make false positives on 'DBSS' rule - not available for mirrored databases?

  Once every week or two I get a fatal alert "Not available" for the 'DBSS' rule - not available on all databases mirrored to my server.  It takes only a few minutes in Foglight, then goes back to a normal state.

  I looked at the newspaper database monitoring for the mirror and the principle, all SQL server and Agent logs, all the server event logs... nothing.  The history of all mirrored databases have no signs of availability according to the real itself SQL Server issues.

  The only reference to this rule Foglight is:

  Go through the article, I looked at the data stored in the "DB" State for the affected databases, it says "Not available" for the times, that the alert has developed.  However, I can't find anywhere on the current SQL Server where this error can come.

  I have not particualrly want to go rushing to false positives fatal alert indicating that my mirror is not available

  Any thoughts on what I might try?  Everyone knows about this problem?

  If you use RMAN to create backup BackupSet, you use RMAN to RESTORE the database.

  Subsequently, you can use RMAN or SQLPLUS to issue the command to RECOVER the DATABASE.

  (RMAN has no clause 'using backup controlfile' because it identifies the controlfile as a backup, while sqlplus must use the following clause if the controlfile is a backup)

• Best way to schedule/run scripts third 3rd on an OEM customer?

  We currently use some 3rd party scripts on our monitoring systems.  Before launch us into monitoring OEM, we would simply install OEM, integrate existing monitoring script, and then maybe slowly migrate on.  These scripts are run several times daily through cron.

  Would it not be appropriate to migrate these courses as jobs on our OEM customers?  This would allow us to customize the calendars of the script (IE every 5 minutes), the report if these scripts fail, etc. ?

  Or is there a better mechanism to use?

  No, it is not required that you follow all the steps described in the note... As you have not set up a portal, you can skip this step and move to another. This is the reason why "CONDITIONAL" was used in the respective step.
