• I get the message "this search engine is not supported by Firefox and cannot be installed" whenever I try to install a plugin to search on the Mozilla Add-ons site. Why?

  Any search plugin I chose to install it from the list of search plugins FireFox on the Mozilla Add-ons site, I get the same error message - "this search engine is not supported by FireFox and can not be installed. I tried to delete the 3 files in my profile identified in the article on troubleshooting plugins, but it did not help. I am running Firefox with administrator privileges, but it does not help. The problem seems to be with the search plugins. I can install other extensions that are not plugins from the Mozilla Add-ons site search, but not the search plugins.   For the last 2 days I could not access the website of nbcnews.com (and related today.com - however, I have no problem with nbcsports and nbc for shows).   Uninstall Uniblue Powersuite.

  Search for malware:

  Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

  • MalwareBytes (FREE)
  • SuperAntiSpyware (FREE)

  Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

  Search online with eSet Online Scanner.  Remove everything it finds.

  Reset.

  This may not fix the result, but it will eliminate what has probably caused (as well as the riders who came with her.)
