  When you change the search engine using the icon beside the search bar, which should "stick". Don't you think that it changes randomly, or the next time you exit and restart Firefox or notice any other model?

  Do the following prayer.

  • In the address bar, type Subject: config and press ENTER.
  • In the filter at the top, type: keyword. URL

  • Go to Tools | Options | General.

  Hello

  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

  If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button

    

    click Help

    

    then select restart with disabled modules.

  If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
  • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
    (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

  When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

  

  If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

  To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  You probably have some adware or toolbar that has changed the page used for a newtab.

  • Remove a toolbar that has supported your Firefox or the homepage search
    • The addon of reset of search is useful to fix this https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

  The addon installs, modifies settings and to uninstall. But you may need to remove the adware or which could change the settings again.
  BUT Note If you are using Firefox (American) addon resets to Yahoo as en-US search engine and you will need to manually select the Google later.

  Whatever the selected search engine to be used for the search toolbar must be used in other research including the address bar Firefox and the new tab.

Machine and firefox running now, but the default search engines are all absent. Only wiki was there and only wiki under the management of search engines. I use legal search engines / academic and want to restore them. Highlight and right click on the text offers a wiki instead of google search

  In the past, I usually kept my search bar on IMDb, since I use that a lot, but I do Google search even more often, so I just type Google search terms into the address bar and hit < Enter >, which has always worked well. It was like having two bars at once, research which was totally awesome. However, having just "updated" Firefox about an hour ago, it now appears that selection of search from the address bar is now linked to the selection of the search bar.   You can change the search provider from the search bar that is automatically in Firefox by clicking on the arrow pointing down and put in service of your choice.
  

  If you want a custom search engine, you can access this Web site, click the arrow and click on "Add < custom engine >. Example below:
  

  If you don't want the search bar, you can "hide" it view by clicking on the button 3-bar menu, go to 'Customize' at the bottom, and then dragging the search bar in the box features and additional tools .

  Once you change the search engine in the search bar, you can hide the search bar and search using the address bar with the provider you have chosen in the search bar.
