Search engine resets (sometimes only)
I want to add an additional search engine (StartPage SSL) and set it as your default search engine. This method works. Even after closing and re-opening Firefox.
Sometimes, not always. (1 or 2 days) after the entry of search engine is part and Amazon.com (first entry) is again the default search engine (all other settings are still in place).
In my Firefox profile, entry in the searchplugins folder is always there. The entries in the prefs.js are also here:
user_pref ("browser.search.defaultenginename", "Startpage (SSL) '");
user_pref ("browser.search.selectedEngine', 'Startpage (SSL)');
Removal of the 'search.json', ' search - metadata.json "and"formhistory.sqlite"did not help.
Clues?
Thanks in advance!
Hi again,
It seems that the extension "Add search bar" the cause of the problem. The extension renames the files of .undefined e.g. duckduckgo.xml to duckduckgo.xml.undefined search engine.
After uninstalling the extension, search engines remain active as they should.

In our Web page we have pages with lists of the pdf reports that we want to make available. I tried a search engine, but it only directs you to the page with the list. How can we lead the researcher to a specific report?
Exactly, it would depend on how you have set the referencing of your site, please check the suggestions made in this tutorial:

I installed freeware who hijacked my search. He removed all the default search engines and left only bing which was then my default. I managed to get off the list of bing and google added so I can search. It is not my preferred search tool. I can't find my favorite search, yahoo, as an add-on. The search engines of restoration tool is grayed out. I tried a reset Add-ons - nothing works. I use Windows 7. Should I reinstall firefox?
Actually, I figured out where the folder for the default search engines was and replaced it with another copy. The oldfirefox file I had reset was empty.
This used to be a piece of freeware confidence.

How can I access the dialog "Manage search engines", after you remove the search bar?
I removed the esarch bar, since I can get exactly the same functionality through the url bar (also called awsome bar, I think). I use several search engines but select the default ones with key words.
The only thing I'm missing is the ability to access the dialog box "manage search engines". The only geto him he seems to be the drop search bar icon. Is it possible to access this dialogue without having to add (and re - hide the afterwords) the search bar?
You can create a bookmark with this chrome URL:

Firefox address bar search engine keep the reset to go back home
I downloaded the Manager to go back (http://www.fileservemanager.com/) a few months ago and used it briefly before uninstalling. The program has installed a toolbar by default, and I made sure to remove this too quickly. The problem I have is that the search engine for my URL guard bar reset to fileservehome.com whenever I start Firefox. I can reset the password key. URL about: config, but whenever I start FF he changes back. I tried searching for 'back' in the subject: config search bar but nothing happens. I deleted all the files on my computer with the word go back in there and I ran malware bytes multiple times. I restarted firefox with no extensions running and it still happens. I am running Firefox 4 and may not know how to fix this shit. I don't want to switch to Chrome, but it might be my only option if I can't understand it... If you have an idea on how to fix it please let me know!
had the same problem and found a good solution I've done has been
It's on a windows 7
Reach
My computer-> C:-> users-> (name of your computer)-> AppData (hidden folder)-> Roaming-> Mozilla-> Firefox-> profile-> .default (random alphanumeric combination)ex. C:\Users\Elli\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\89rnmjg8.default
It's mine, Elli and 89rnmjg8.default will be different
here find user.js open it with Notepad or some other advanced editor (Notepad or ultraedit) inside you will see the annoying url of fileservetoolbar change to your desired url and save mine was
http://www.Google.com/search?btnG=Google+search & q =
(of the query, not the lucky thing of feeling generic google search)
Note that you must change there the next time you want to change it, you cannot change it to about: config, if I discovered how change it I'll tell you, maybe you can uninstall firefox and remove all files related firefox there are like all profiles and stuff and start from scratch.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, late 2011, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB memory at 1333 MHz, DDR3). 10.11.3 OSX
Yesterday, the machine started to insert continous dashes/hyphens into any available window (e.g. window search engine, for example open source software, MS Word, docx). Is the only way to stop this as soon as it starts to reboot, that usually stop at least temporarily. As soon as he starts this, I tried to close all the applications open without effect.

After the reset of firefox when it crashed unless safe mode cannot use the google search engine
I had to reset Firefox after it crashed it unless I tried in safe mode, turn it off hardware acceleration still crashes so reset. Lost all my favorites and history etc. and my google search bar does more actually my search bar does not work any search engine, I try and I can not synchronize either as I have an unknown error
After a reset, you should find a folder of old data of Firefox on your desktop. If you do not, you can recover your bookmarks and other data from it. Is this what?
On your question about your Google search bar, it's the Firefox search bar integrated with search engine selection to the bottom of the left side?
Do these search boxes work:
- Address bar (also known as URL bar)
- Firefox homepage (if you use it)
- Top of the new tab (if you use it)

Engine search toolbar Firefox search guard reseting to bing, the closing of firefox
So I just reinstalled firefox on your laptop brand new Windows 8.1, and I noticed that the search bar in the upper right corner is set on bing as a search engine. I try to change it, but he refused to change, then I deleted the search engine and set it to google.
I noticed that whenever I am close and re-open firefox, the search engine in the search toolbar resets to bing, despite me having deleted bing as a search engine. What can I do to make sure she stays permanently on google?Remove integrated search engines would be to remove his file browser\searchplugins XML file in the Firefox program folder, but these changes are not guaranteed to survive an update of Firefox.
Search engines are installed in the searchplugins folder in the installed Firefox profile folder custom.

There is no EnginSearch search bar in the top right of the page and none appears when I try to restore the default values or manage search engines. To return to the search bar, I usually have to reset Firefox or start in safe mode, but this doesnm looking for a solution to this problem.
It is a conversion tool - Vixy Freecorder. Not sure if that was the cause, but I uninstalled and not had any problems since.

When firefox load it also load another tab for the search engine. How can I remove this where it will load only my start page?
You can check the setting of the home page and make sure that it doesn't have a leak ' |'.
Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol.
- Tools > Options > general > startup: Homepage

When I do a search using the Firefox browser or Google engine, I want only a page of research. That I have scroll, Firefox is now automatically load page second, third, etc., as a scrolling down. How can I stop this?
Could you give the address of the search results page where you get "loading without end? It is not normal that the standard Google search engine plugin that comes with Firefox, but you might have a different plugin.
Some add-ons have this feature, including those with similar names to the 'autopager"and probably many others. You could review your active extensions on page modules. Either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: command + shift + a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right side. I suggest turning off one you forgot to install. Those who have Options buttons may be worth exploring to see if it is a feature, you can disable.

Hello
I suggest you sign upward to Google Webmaster tools (free) and check your site (directions are in the webmaster tools) and
also consider joining Google analytic (also free). Analytical will allow you to 'see' who is visiting your site and how they experience through research, order the seizure of the URL, or through the links, etc. Also from where they come, how much per day, etc. Lots of good information.

Must remove Ask search engine.
I had this problem several times with ASK. He likes to be grafted on other installed software you or programs installed on your computer. A simple solution to get rid of the ASK and all traces, as I don't even bother with windows add/remove. will [www.download.com} and with the help of a third party such as Revo Uninstaller uninstall program that I've used for years and it's free.] The neat thing, it is that, in addition to the race, uninstall the standard service version is that it will also search for remaining files on HD & register. I would like to uninstall FF4 use Revo to remove all personal data/settings and reinstall.

When I go on safari I only get google this is my search engine
I better stay with google or go back to safari on safari at the moment I get just search google.
I do not understand your question. Are you willing to change your search engine from Google to something else? You can do in the Safari preferences by going to the 'Search' tab. If you are wanting to change the home page of Safari, you would also do in Safari preferences, but in the general tab.
